121. Dog Control UK

It is reported that more than 350 children were admited to Alder Hey hospital between Oct '05-Oct 06 as victims of attacks by dogs. Many of these injuries required surgery.

More recently we have read reports of children being killed by dogs in the UK.

Strict controls need to be put in place to protect the public from dangerous animals - the UK public need to put pressure on the government to introduce laws to protect us before another child is killed.

122. Every person earning over $100 a week should have to donate at least $1 to poorer countries

Every 3 seconds, a child dies of disease or starvation in poor countries such as africa. 1... 2... 3... another just died. They often go for days without food or water, and children as young as 4 are looking after their younger siblings, and learning how to survive on their own.

These children appreciate every little morsel of food they recieve! they face a hard torturous life day after day, and they have nothing to look forward to, or aim towards because recieving a decent education, even though they would love one.

Yet in richer countries like USA and UK and Australia, children take education for granted. They deliberately skip school, and they get food whenever they like, as much as they like. if every person in these richer countries who earned over $100 a week, gave just $1, there would be a huge difference in these peoples lifes. They could get fresh clean water supplies, from built in wells. They could buy farming tools for growing their own food, and they could recieve a better education, that would help a lot in the future of the countries wealth. Millions of children's lives would be saved from unnessicary deaths, and they would, for once in their lives, have something to smile about. Yet the richer people would hardly notice it was gone from them!

I believe that the governments of richer and more developed countries, should make it illegal not to donate money if you earn more than $100 a week.

124. Fresh Eggs for the Elderly in Care homes

Elderly clients in care homes have no choice but to accept pasteurised eggs instead of fresh ones.

I have known 90 year olds asking for a nice soft boiled egg only to be told they can't get one.

There is a smoking risk assessment filled in for each client. Why not a fresh egg risk assessment. Then they have a choice to make.

125. Civil Partnerships for All

Marriage is an outdated practice that, though has been usefull in the growth of our nation, is steeped in religion.

I fully believe in the separation of church and state and therefore believe that all marriage and civil partnership laws be combined into one Civil Partnership law, that makes no mention of marriage.

This would not ban any religious ceremonies taking place, but merely make them seperate from a legal partnership.

126. The UK Campaign For Lost Season 3 - Sooner rather than later!

Uk Lost fans had an agonising 4 month wait before Channel 4 showed the already delayed Season 2 of hit TV show 'Lost'. This meant that we, the true 'Lost' fans were behind most countries and well behind the US in terms of it's broadcast.

This therefore meant that we had to constantly live in fear of spoilers which damage the enjoyment and impact of our 'Lost' viewing. I and thousands of other 'Lost' fans see little benefit to Channel 4 or it's loyal viewers in the transmission of Season 3 being delayed and put on the back burner.

We do not want to have to wait 4-8 months for the next series of Lost to be shown on our TV screens as by that time many of us would have had our enjoyment of the show ruined by spoilers or unfortunately some fans may decide to acquire Lost viewing by other means, such as downloads...but no-one..not Channel 4 or it's viewers want this. We want to watch Lost on TV together but unless something is done or said than I fear that this will be the case.

July 27, 2006

The smell of sewage in and around the Fleetwood area causes stress to many residents.

These masts give of radiation and no-one knows exactly the long-term effects of this radiation on people.

130. Lighten up the A38!

July 9, 2006

On the 19th of December 2003 a dear friend of mine was killed in a road traffic accident on the A38 dual carriage way between Liskeard and Menheniot.

In each witness statement it repeats that the whole road is completely unlit. I feel that this is a valid reason how my friend ended up on the wrong side of the dual carriage way as if it isn't fairly lit and you don't know the roads all that well things like this could occur time and time again.

There is alot more to the story but my main point is that if our roads were lit properly there is less chance of us losing our loved ones in a way as tragic as this.

Spitting Image was a hilarious and satirical television programme that was aired from 1984 to 1996. It made a mockery of current affairs, politicians and the Royal Family.

Todays recent events within Westminster and all around the country would make hilarious television, and perhaps give our bumbling leaders the criticism they deserve.

134. Abolish school uniform in all state-funded schools in England

June 21, 2006

I'm absolutely sick and tired of people ridiculously claiming that school uniforms somehow uphold respect and disipline when there is not one shread of evidence that this is the case and plenty to support that it isn't.

Secondly, the equally proposterous notion that they apparently reduce bullying is laudable. Nowadays, perfectly decent fashionable clothes can be bought at a fraction of the cost to that of a standard blazer.

Therefore it's nonsence to suggest that poorer children will get picked on for there supposed "rags" that they apparently where to school.

I can go on for ages about how this decadent system is being dictatorially enforced upon us by our our goverment and its wider institions. In short, I'm taking up this campaign because of the false example and "standards"it is meant to set, but mainly because of its complete irrelevence to our society.

The idea that teenagers and those even younger should dress and act as mini adults is laughably absurd! So come on, please support this campaign.

140. Diabetes UK Are Making A Diabetic Family Homeless

May 31, 2006

The UK's leading diabetic charity, Diabetes UK, have issued a Part 8 Claim Form at the High Court seeking to make a diabetic family homeless.

There was a court action ten years ago between Diabetes UK (BDA) and this diabetic family. The diabetic family had set up a diabetic charity called the Diabetic Society. Diabetes UK argued that this was too similar to their own name.

To read the newspaper article about this litigation:

http://icsouthlondon.icnetwork.co.uk/ 0100news/0225croydon/ tm_objectid=16916417&method=full&siteid=53340&headline= family-could-lose-their-home-after-court-battle-with-charity-name_page.html

To view the documents relating to this current litigation go to:

http://community.webshots.com/user/AllyMichelle222

Diabetes UK spent over £600,000 of charity money to succeed with this action. Lord Justice Walker described the amount of charity money that Diabetes UK wasted on this as "deplorable" and "scandelous". Both Lord Justice Walker and the Lord Chief Justice Phillips of England criticised Diabetes UK heavily for the amount of charity money they had spent on suing a diabetic family.

Diabetes UK were successful with this litigation and were legally entitled to their costs. Lord Justice Walker awarded them 3/4 of their £600,000 costs. However, both Lord Justice Walker and Lord Chief Justice Phillips recommended to Diabetes UK not to enforce the Order for Costs.

After Diabetes UK were successful with this litigation they purchased every single name you can think of relating to diabetes and diabetics from Companies House stopping anyone else from setting up a diabetic charity. For example, they purchased: Diabetic Society, The Diabetic Society, Diabetes Society, The Diabetes Society, Diabetic Society National, The Diabetic Society National... This is why they are the UK's leading diabetic charity.

Diabetes UK are trying to force the sale of a diabetic family's home in order to meet these costs. They are seeking to make a diabetic pensioner and his diabetic daughter homeless.

We know for a fact that the trustees of Diabetes UK have not agreed to this.

Our Queen is the Patron of Diabetes UK.

Thank you.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

143. London Metropolitan University Students' Union in Crisis

London Met Students' Union recently had a new constitution imposed on us by the university.

None of the unions' ideas and views were included and this has led to a document that removes all power from SU elected officers.

Clubs and Societies will no longer be part of the union and the position of an officer has been reduced to little more than an administrative role. This is because of a cynical attempt by the university to save money and stop the union from campaigning on issues that effect our students.

London Metropolitan University boasts that it is socially inclusive and democratic. It state it offers equal opportunities during your time there you will have a great Student Experience.

This cynical attempt to impose a new constitution, reducing democracy, reducing inclusion and reducing equal opportunities brings this all into question.

For more information you can download the new constitution at:

Please help our cause as we have very little time. We need as many signatures as possible to convince the governors, so please sign the petition below.

144. Talented young artist and family under threat of deportation to Iran

BEHNAM AND FAMILY MUST STAY!

Behnam, an outstanding young artist and BA Hons Fine Art student at Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design, University of the Arts London, his younger brother, a gap year student, both former students at Quintin Kynaston School, and their mother, are in urgent need of asylum in the UK. They have lived in London since 2002.

What Behnam and his mother face is deportation to prison, torture and likely death.

As a former teacher at the boys' school and now a close family friend, I have known Behnam since his arrival at the school in 2003. I vouch for the family's complete integrity and for the authenticity of their asylum claim.

Behnam is a delightful, popular young man, an excellent role model for young people. In recognition of his achievements under adversity he was Highly Commended at the Anne Frank Awards in 2007. In 2008 he was made an Ambassador for Refugees and Arts by the Refugees & the Arts Initiative. In June 2009 Behnam was invited to work alongside an established artist facilitating a day of workshops on Islamic glasspainting at the Victoria and Albert Museum.

Much of Behnam's artwork reflects his open-minded approach to politics and religion and his strong opposition to the current theocratic regime in Iran. This, alone, would place him in great danger in today's Iran.

In 2008 Behnam held an exhibition "Visions of Freedom" at the Watermans Arts Centre, Brentford, his fifth solo art exhibition in London. His latest travelling exhibition, "Where is Their Vote?", was inspired by the courage of the protesters following the Presidential Election of June, 2009. He has also exhibited alongside other artists including at venues that include the Human Rights Centre of Amnesty International,St Ethelberga's Church of Reconciliation, Portsmouth University and the Free Word Centre. He and his family are an enormous asset to our society.

The image included is "Hope for Freedom" by Behnam, aged 16, depicting the view of a political prisoner looking out towards freedom. The doves and the Statue of Liberty are outlined in the colours of the Iranian flag. Around the image are representaions of the ancient Persian Human Rights Codes of Cyrus.

In April 2005 two of Behnam's friends were arrested at Behnam's family's home in Tehran for allegedly printing and distributing anti-regime literature.

Three days later Behnam's father was arrested on arrival at Tehran Airport. Beaten and interrogated about the whereabouts of his wife and older son, Behnam's father was released following the payment of money.

He warned his wife in London, that she and Behnam were wanted by the authorities and could not return to Iran. He was subsequently re-arrested and held in the notorious Evin Prison for 15 months until he was conditionally released.

The family claimed asylum in the UK, but their claim was rejected. It again failed on appeal and this was upheld at a reconsideration hearing. Shortly after receiving this news the boys' mother collapsed and was taken to hospital. This has happened on a number of occasions since this situation arose and is clearly related to deep fears.

The family sought to take the case to the Court of Appeal, especially as there is evidence which was not available at the earlier hearing, but their application was rejected.

A fresh asylum claim, based on substantial additional evidence, was submitted in April 2008. This time the family has a highly competent solicitor. For seventeen long months there was no response from the Home Office but there have now been indications that the Home Office is about to consider the fresh application.

Should the fresh application, however, be rejected, their position is one of great danger. Both Behnam and his mother have been tried and sentenced in absentia by a court in Iran on political charges. Behnam has been sentenced prison for 5 years, his mother to 7 years.

Even more shocking is that they have been warned that they will receive lashes, 70 in Behnam's case and 100 in the mother's. Knowing the people concerned we cannot see how they could survive such a brutal ordeal.

The Iranian regime has an appalling, and deteriorating, Human Rights record - including executions of minors, floggings, rape and other forms of torture. The already lamentable state of human rights in Iran has worsened even further following the phoney Presidetial election of June 2009, with groups such as students and artists being targetted.

We are completely dismayed and outraged by the suffering this delightful family are going through. They fell victim of serious malpractice by their previous legal representative. The family has so far been denied justice.

Should the fresh application be refused, the family is at real risk of deportation to Iran. This petition is part of a campaign to stop this.

Please sign the onlne petition if you have not signed the paper one. In all, over 11,200 people have so far signed the petition, demonstrating the enormous concern there is for this much loved, vulnerable family in such danger.

Included in a long list of prominent supporters of the campaign are Isabelle Allende, Michael Palin, Nicole Farhi, Katherine Hammett, Paula Rego, Mark Titchner, Ken Loache, Polly Toynbee, Yasmin Allibhai-Brown, Rory Bremner, Darius Campbell Danesh , Eva Schloss (Anne Frank's step-sister), faith and community leaders, MPs, Peers and MEPs.

THEY MUST NOT BE RETURNED TO IRAN TO BE TORTURED! THEY MUST BE ALLOWED TO STAY IN THE UK!

If you would like to get involved in the campaign please let me know.

On behalf of the family, thanks for your support.

145. Arun District Council should address overcrowding

March 05, 2006

Arun District Council have adopted the Government Policy of allowing anyone to apply for council housing.

This ignores local people and the waiting list has quadrupled in the last seven years. A typical example was reported in the local paper http://www.littlehamptontoday.co.uk/ViewArticle2.aspx?
SectionID=467&ArticleID=1257411 but Arun District Council have chosen not to address the issue.

However they have chosen to build 400 homes planned for Toddington, buit only some 5% will be allocated to social housing.

The local Councillors are so narrow minded, but ensuring they will gain from such a move.
