1. Free Shahin Negari, teacher of the Bahai Institute for Higher Education (BIHE)
Shahin Negari (امان الله مستقیم و شاهین نگاری), one of the teachers of the Bahai Institute for Higher Education (BIHE), was detained in Tehran on January 12. Security agents went to his home and arrested him, presumably to begin serving his sentence, as he has been sentenced to 4 years in prison. He has been free on bail since June 28, 2011.
His whereabouts are not known.
2. Free Baha´i Couple Faran Hesami & Kamran Rahimian
Faran Hesami begins her sentence
Mrs. Faran Hesami ( فاران حسامی ) was detained this morning to begin serving a four year sentence in connection with work for the Bahai Open University (BIHE).
She had been asked to go to the prison in connection with legal matters relating to her husband, Kamran Rahimian ( کامران رحیمیان ), who is already serving a 4-year term in Raja’i Shahr prison for his work for the BIHE.
When she got to the prison, she was arrested.
This is surprising, since her sentence is still before the review court, and she has not been informed that it has been confirmed.
She is charged with membership of the Bahai community and meeting and conspiring to harm national security.
The couple have a son, Artin ( آرتین ) who is three years old.
Iranian actor and filmmaker Ramin Parchami, who was arrested during anti-government protests on 14 February, has been sentenced to a year in prison.
The 38-year-old was arrested during protests held in solidarity with the Arab uprisings of Egypt and Tunisia in February 2011. According to Green Movement website Kaleme, until a few days ago, the actor had been held in solitary confinement in ward 209 of Evin prison under the supervision of the Intelligence Ministry. However, he is now being held in ward 350.
“There’s no precise information about Parchami’s case, but it’s been said that the reason for his arrest on 14 February was his insistence to stay in the protest. Plain-clothed agents who had spotted him in the crowd warned him a number of times to leave the demonstrations, but he ignored their words and was arrested in the end,” reported Kaleme.
According to the Committee of Human Rights Reporters, Parchami’s one year jail-term was issued by branch 13 of the Revolutionary Court of Tehran under Judge Eslami on charges of “acting against national securiting through taking part in an illegal assembly, attempting to film and disrupting public order.”
Parchami’s trial was held on Wednesday 12 April and his transfer to the court took place “under security measures” and he was seen “handcuffed, with long a beard and a not-so-appropriate appearance while accompanied by a number of policemen.”
Parchami has a master’s degree in directing and acting, and has directed and acted in a number of films and television series. He is also a former editor-in-chief of the cultural weekly Naghsh Afarinan.
The barbaric human rights violations carried out by the Iranian regime cannot be allowed to continue.
Please do not stand by. Please sign this petition.

Today according to reports by "Human Rights Activists of Iran", 62 year old Ali Saremi, political prisoner who has been SENTENCED TO DEATH was removed from ward 2 of Gohardasht prison and taken to an undisclosed location.
Prisoners are highly suspicious and worried about the circumstances of his transfer and the contradictory remarks of prison officials. They suspect that he might have been transferred for carrying out of the execution orders. On the other hand most execution orders are carried out on Tuesdays.
We are deeply concerned about Mr. Saremi's life and the possibility of his execution.

-----------------
Saeed Malekpour is a 35-year-old prisoner of conscience who was detained on October 4, 2008 while visiting his terminally ill father in Iran, and was charged with being involved in “internet offenses”, all of which he denies. The charges brought against Malekpour include “Taking action against national security by designing and moderating adult content websites;” “Agitation against the regime;” “Contact with foreign entities;” “Insulting the sanctity of Islam;” and “Insulting the Supreme Leader and President.” He could be charged as “Corrupter of the Earth” (Mofsed fel-Arz), a charge that is punishable by the DEATH SENTENCE. Saeed continues to deny these allegations.
Saeed graduated from Sharif University of Technology with a Metrology Engineering degree. He has worked as an expert in Iran Khodro (Iran’s biggest car manufacturer) and as an inspector in Garma Felez corporation. He has also worked for the Razi Research Centre. Last year, he was admitted to a master’s program at the University of Victoria (in the province of British Columbia, Canada). In 2004, Saeed and his wife moved to Canada, where he became a permanent resident. He began work as a freelance website developer & programmer responsible for developing only parts of websites or portions involving, for example, IT system management and system security.
While working as developer in Canada, Saeed designed a program that would allow his clients to upload pictures, and as a common courtesy in programming, included his name and info in the file. This program, Saeed’s wife – Dr. Fatimeh Eftekhari – explains, was used in an adult content website WITHOUT Saeed’s knowledge or approval. “The only recognizable name in the program was Saeed’s,” she continued, “which led to his arrest” and to the accusations claiming that Saeed was responsible for the development and administration of the website.
In an open letter, Saeed described the horrific physical and psychological tortures he endured at the hands of the Iran’s Revolutionary Guard which pressured him into false confessions. Since his arrest, Saeed remains confined in Tehran’s notorious Evin Prison without indictment or access to a lawyer. Saeed has spent more than 12 months in solitary confinement and denied books, newspapers, and contact with the outside world.
In a excerpt of the letter from Saeed Malekpour, you can read about the horrible events that have unfolded since his arrest by the hands of his interrogators:
"...On January 24, 2009, after being subject to severe beatings, one of the interrogators threatened to pull out my tooth with a pair of tongs. One of my tooth broke and my jaw was displaced after I was kicked in the face by him. However, the physical tortures were nothing compared to the psychological torments. I endured long solitary confinement time (totalling to more than one year) without phone calls or the possibility of visiting my loved ones, constant threats to arrest and torture my wife and family if I did not cooperate, threats to kill me. They also provided me with false news of arresting my wife. My mental health was severely threatened. I had no acces to any books or journals in the solitary cells, and at times, I would not speak to anybody for days.
Restrictions and psychological pressures on me and my family grew so much that after my father’s passing on March 16, 2009, and despite the fact that the officials were aware of his death, kept the news from me for approximately 40 days. When I had a five minute (supervised) phone call with home, I learned of my father’s death.
Masoud, one of the interrogators, burst into laughter and mocked me once he saw me crying about the news of my father’s death. Despite my pleas, they did not allow me to attend my father’s memorial service. In addition to the psychological tortures, the Revolutionary Guards interrogation team illegally, and contrary to religious principles, withdrew some funds from my credit card account. They also have my Paypal account. I am not sure what they have done with it.
Another example of psychological torture involved forcing me to perform scenarios dictated by the Revolutionary Guards interrogators in front of the camera. Although the interrogation team had promised me these films would never be aired on TV, and they would only be shown to regime officials to receive a larger budget for their “Gerdaab” project. However, I found out later on that the films were shown numerous times on state television during the seventh day funeral service for my father. This resulted in severe emotional pain for my family. My mother suffered from a heart attack after seeing my picture and false confessions on television. Some of the confession they forced me to make were so ridiculous and far-fetched that they are not even possible.
For example, they asked me to falsely confess to purchasing software from the UK and then posting on my website for sale. I was forced to add that when somebody visited my website, the software would be, without his/her knowledge, installed on their computer and would take control of their webcam, even when their webcam is turned off. Although I told them that what they were suggesting was impossible from a technological point of view, they responded that I should not concern myself with such things..."

7. Free Political Prisoner Heshmatollah Tabarzadi
Heshmat Tabarzadi is an Iranian journalist and democratic activist. He was arrested on December 28, 2009, in front of his wife and son by agents who also seized his books, papers, and computer, and is currently being held at an unknown location.
Tabarzadi published an opinion piece in the Wall Street Journal on December 17, 2009. In his op-ed, he wrote: "If the government continues to opt for violence, there very well may be another revolution in Iran. One side has to step down. And that side is the government—not the people.
On the evening of December 27, Tabarzadi was interviewed on Voice of America Persian, and said that the protests were the largest he had ever seen. He also called on protesters to keep the protests nonviolent.
Tabarzadi was viewed by the regime as one of the leaders of the student protests of July 9, 1999. He was arrested and spent nine years in Evin Prison, including two in solitary confinement, for his activities as a student leader.

8. Save Farah Vazehan! Death Sentence Overturned, but She is Sick in Prison!
*UPDATE February 25, 2011*
January 20th: The Supreme Court has overturned Farah Vazehan’s death sentence. HOWEVER, even though her death sentence has been overturned, since she is suffering from illness, prison is comparable to slow death sentence for her. In September, she was transferred to an outside hospital due to her heart problems.

PLEASE CONTINUE TO SIGN THIS PETITION!
*UPDATE: Sept 10, 2010*
Death row prison Farah Vazehan has been transferred to a hospital outside of prison after suffering a heart attack!
http://www.rahana.org/en/?p=6929
--------------------------
On August 4th, reports surfaced that Farah Vazehan was sentenced to 15 years in prison. However, a reliable source has told RAHANA that her sentence is actually death.
The anonymous source told RAHANA that Vazehan’s family has not informed her that she is sentenced to death to prevent her from worrying. Salavati from branch 15 of the Revolutionary Court is the presiding judge on the case that is still open for appeal.
Farah Vazehan was arrested on December 29, 2009 (two days after the Ashura protest). She is currently detained in the general women’s ward of Evin prison.
Vazehan was charged with participating in street protests and Moharebeh (waging war against God) by cooperating with the PMOI. She was living abroad for many years and came back to Iran because her 19 year old daughter who is diagnosed with cancer was receiving chemotherapy treatment.
Following the Ashura protests, hundreds of people were detained and many received heavy sentences. Article 27 of the Iranian Constitution declares freedom of assembly, “provided arms are not carried” and the assemblies “are not detrimental to the fundamental principles of Islam”.

9. Reinstate visitation rights for all political prisoners in Iran
Visitation Rights Revoked for All Political Prisoners in Iran:
June 13, 2010
The government of Iran continues to mount pressure on its citizens. As per a recent order by Tehran’s prosecutor, until further notice, all political prisoners will no longer be allowed personal, face-to-face visitation with family members. Moving forward they will be allowed to meet in cabins that permit phone conversations only. Regular prisoners are still able to meet with their families once a month. It is not clear when the visitation ban will be lifted.
As of this week, families of political prisoners will only be allowed personal visitation with their loved ones through special permission by the prosecutor’s office. Even if the families are successful in obtaining this special permission, children, sisters, and brothers of political prisoners no longer have visitation rights.
It has been reported that these new measures are designed to prevent the dissemination of statements and writings by political prisoners to the outside world.

12. Stop the execution of Naser Abdolhosseini in Iran!
PETITION UPDATE MADE 5/20/2010
GREAT NEWS THAT THE DEATH SENTENCE HAS BEEN OVERTURNED, HIS LIFE IS SAFE FOR NOW. HOWEVER NOW NASER HAS REDUCED SENTENCE OF 12 YEARS FOR DOING NOTHING WRONG. PLEASE CONTINUE TO SIGN AGAINST HIS IMPRISONMENT!
----------------------------------
Original:
Naser Abdolhosseini is 22 years old and, according to his family, does not have a political history. He comes from a working class family from southern Tehran and was self employed prior to his arrest. On Saturday- Oct 10, 2009, the public relations office of the Tehran justice department announced that Abdolhosseini has been sentenced to death.
In an interview with his brothers Mojtaba and Nader, they say their brother was deceived into making false confessions.
Mojtaba said: "My brother was told that if he made [false] televised confessions, his sentence would be reduced. They told him televised confessions would reduce his prison term and he would be released before the end of his term. They deceived him into making televised confessions, but contrary to what he was promised, they sentenced him to death. They took advantage of Naser and played with his life."
"The phone conversation recording that was introduced as evidence during the hearing is a forged tape. My brother never had a phone conversation or contact with the person (Zohreh) on the recording. This is not true at all. In the recording that was broadcasted by the IRIB, Zohreh asks my brother to cause arson by using a Molotov cocktail. My brother can’t even pronounce the word Molotov cocktail. During the hearing he mispronounced the word. Tell me how could have he been involved in doing such things?"
Naser Abdolhosseini has been accused of having ties to the Mojahedin-e-Khalgh organization (MKO), something that both his brothers deny.
"My brother was arrested on June 26th. We used to work together as salesmen. Our job was to sell auto parts in other cities. Naser has no history of political activity. He had never been arrested before.”
Nader, Naser’s other brother added:
“When they arrested my brother they did not show us any incriminating evidence. They did not have any evidence against him and could not find any when they searched the house. My brother does not even have a high school diploma. He does not own a computer or an email address. How could he have sent information outside Iran as it is alleged? My brother comes from a working class family in southern Tehran. Nobody in our family or among our relatives has ever been involved in politics.”
Naser Abdolhosseini, who was tried for taking part in post election riots, has been found guilty of the charge and was sentenced to death. However, he was not in Tehran at the time of the protests and was doing his job in another city. His brother, Nader, talked about his brother’s involvement in the post election protests:
“The allegations that my brother took part in the protest are completely unfounded. Prior to his arrest on June 26th, he had been doing his job as an auto parts salesman in the southern city of Bushehr. The night they came to arrest him, he had just returned from his business trip and was so tired that he had not even changed.”
The two brothers have a lot of objections to the trial and the way the court appointed lawyer handled their brother’s case. Mojtaba said:
“During the trial the court appointed lawyer did not defend my brother. He has only contacted my brother twice and has done nothing for his case."

According to the international UN Human Rights Charter, which the Iran government is a ratified state party since 23 March 1976, every person has the right to voice their thoughts, opinions, beliefs, and religion without persecution by its government. By sentencing Mohammad Valian, the government of Iran is abusing its power over another life, persecuting, and breaking the international human rights laws.
