301. Saving English Teachers Who Care
Two teachers that care the very most about their school and their students are about to lose their A.P/ honors classes.
302. Repair Jackson State Community College Parking Lots
In April 2004 some Jackson State Community College students brought forth the solutions to the parking area problems at JSCC.
The parking lots are in need of desperate repair, however, the school lacks the state funding. So, in order to solve this problem and satisfy the safety needs of JSCC students and faculty, this group of students ask that a committee of volunteers be put together to repair the parking lot.
303. External IT access facilities, Chisholm
We are writting this petition to voice our concerns about external access to the campus servers. As some research has been done on other campuses that currently give their students access to telnet into the school unix servers so as to work on current class projects, we are concerned that we are being neglected in the modern age of IT. This would make things alot easier for students and teachers, with help and also keeping records on the school network for the teachers to assess the status of students.
304. Ferris Junior High and High School Soccer Team
The Ferris ISD offers a limited number of sports to its students. Many members of the community travel to Red Oak in order to compete in soccer. With the upcoming growth of the school district due to added housing developments and the student demand, we feel it wise to offer soccer as a school sport in Ferris.
305. Let Mrs. Raiford Be a Second Grade Teacher
Mrs. Raiford has respectfully requested to move "up" to the second grade with the class she currently has. Her request was denied, and she is very upset about the matter. The letter below was written by one of her students, Zoe Hartley. The letter certainly captures the mood and feelings of Mrs. Raiford's students, their parents, families, and other supporters.
306. Bring Back Assigned Computers
To the Brazos School Of Inquiry And Creativity,
We, the undersigned, believe that the school should keep assigned computers of the student's choice. Also, we believe that the school should be ran by Dr. Robert Slater or another teacher instead of Mr. Chris Osgood. Failure to comply or possibly compromise with the students and their wishes will cause the undersigned to leave the school to seek education elsewhere.
307. Doctoral Students in the College of Education
The purpose of this petition is to have an Educational Research course offered the second term of the Summer II session. This course will provide graduate students with many of the skills they will need to conduct empirical research studies in the field of education such as : (1) Purposes and Types of Educational Research, (2) Steps in Conducting Research; Preparing a Research Proposal, (3) Selection of Research Questions for Investigation; Literature Reviews, (4) Basic Statistical Methods for Qualitative Data Analysis, (5) Development and Validation of Instrumentation, (6) Principles of Sampling, (7) Research Designs, (8) Data collection Techniques, (9) Introduction to SPSS (a package of computer programs for data analysis), and (10) Interpreting Results; Drawing Conclusions; Reporting Research Results. 308. No Coach No Team
Wednesday Feb. 4 Franklin Knights basket ball coach got fired. All Franklin students would like to have him back in our Franklin family. If you sign this we will get one step closer.
309. Centerlink Disgrace!
What kind of a government pays it's unemployed more to stay home than it does students to further themselves? Why the Federal Government of course! If you are a current, past or even future student considering tertiary education and you too feel that it is insulting that the Government is paying Dole-bludgers more than students, please fill in the petition.
Letters will be sent to the Minister for Education and various other Government bodies, both state and Federal. One person can't convince the Government that they're screwed. But several can. If you have any questions or comments regarding this topic, please email me. vmclean2003@yahoo.com.au
310. Lebanese American University - Byblos Campus Parking Solution
AS YOUR ARE READING THIS, PLEASE TAKE A MOMENT TO CONSIDER THE PARKING ISSUE THAT LAU HAS BEEN DEALING WITH FOR SOME TIME NOW. WITH THIS PETITION, YOU CAN BE PART OF THE SOLUTION. EACH YEAR WE STUDENTS PAY HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS FOR PARKING THAT IS LACKING AT TIMES TO SAY THE LEAST. IT SEEMS THAT WE ALMOST HAVE TO GET TO CAMPUS AT 6:30 OR 7 AM TO EVEN HAVE A CHANCE AT AN AVAILABLE SPOT. OUR MONEY SHOULD BE GOING TOWARDS CREATING MORE PARKING FOR THE STUDENTS. EACH DAY WE ALL LEAVE OUR HOMES ABOUT 1 HOUR BEFORE WE ARE DUE TO THIS PARKING PROBLEM. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE ! IF YOU LOOK AT THE BIG PICTURE, WE SHOULD NOT HAVE TO SACRIFICE TIME THAT COULD BE SPENT WORKING, OR STUDYING.
SIGNING THIS PETITION GETS US ON OUR WAY TO BEING IN CLASS ON TIME AND BEING ABLE TO SPEND FAR LESS TIME IN OUR CARS; BECAUSE AS WE ALL KNOW OUR TIME IS VERY VALUABLE.
311. Keep Professor Binta Colley on Faculty
As of Fall 2003 semester, Professor Binta Colley, a fine and outstanding professor of philosophy, education and other related courses faces the possibility of losing her job.
In our education system today, we cannot afford to lose professors with exceptional teaching skills because they are devoted to helping their students gain great knowledge and love for the subject they are embarking.
Professor Binta Colley is one of the most outstanding student-oriented teacher York College or America has today and unfortunately, she was informed that she could be out of a job base on how she teaches and grades the students.
I had the opportunity of taking one of her philosophy classes, and it is unlike any other class that I have taken before. Not only does she use the Socratic method of teaching, but she promotes critical thinking in all areas and also provokes exceptional learning and application out of all her students. No student is left behind. If for any reason a student is experiencing difficulties in any area, Professor Colley is available by phone, office hours, virtual classroom, and email to assist each student in all areas. If by chance she is unable to help you, then professor Colley directs you to the appropriate place.
Great teachers in all areas and levels of teaching should be cherished, appreciated and awarded. If any thing should be done to her, an award should be handed to her. LET US PROTECT OUR HARD WORKING PROFESSORS. KEEP PROFESSOR BINTA COLLEY ON BOARD ACTIVELY!!!
Since the begining of the school year of 2003, Mr. Snyder has displayed several actions that we feel are grounds for his loss of a job at BLHS. He has insulted students about not only school work, but appearances, siblings, clothing, etc. He feels the need to often tell tasteless jokes that are completely inappropriate for a student-teacher relationship. Mr. Snyder often takes offense to anything said to him, that is if he actually listens to you. Students cannot be expected to know everything and therefore questions have always been encouraged. However, Mr. Snyder often laughs and mocks these students whom don't learn as quickly as some of their peers.
Mr. Snyder along with all the orevious statements, plays favorites far worse than any teacher we've dealt with. Simply because he likes you, you may be allowed to leave class early, talk out abruptly, disrupt others, and basically break the rules set forth by the BLHS admission. Students need a teacher who will respect them and tech them, in our opinion, Mr. Snyder does neither.
313. No Looping in Burbank School District #111
November 21, 2003
Part of the Liberty Junior High Visionary Committee wants to have looping at the new Junior High.
Looping is having the same teachers and fellow students for a two year period.
314. Equal Rights for 6th grade students
This petition is being submitted to give the 6th grade students the right to participate in activites that they are told they can't do until they are in 7th grade. They are placed in a school with older children because the county and country says they can adapt to new grade structure but are told they can't join or participate in their school related functions until they get into 7th grade.
315. Univ of ALABAMA Graphic Design Dept. Funding Request
The University of Alabama's Graphic Design Program is in need of both software and hardware upgrades. We are currently running Mac OS 9.2, Photoshop 6.0, and QuarkXPress 4.1, to name a few, all of which are now outdated. The iMacs in our lab are unable to support the required upgrade to Mac OS X that is needed to run the new versions of these programs.
In order to keep our programs up-to-date, we need to purchase both new computers and current software. We are requesting the funds to ensure the quality of our students' education.
316. Stop Child Labour Worldwide
To: The students of Wilclay P.S. and all the other children in the world.
From: A group of students from Wilclay P.S.
Purpose: We are submitting a petition because we want to raise the awareness of Child Labour. Child Labour is all over the world. The unfortunate children has to work hard day and night for pays under a dollar. They are usually sold by their parents because of debts. They don't even have a chance to see their family.
Request: My request is that all the children in schools to start taking action and do more researchs. We can start fundraisers to raise money to donate to save more children from Child Labour. Spread the news about Child Labour and how you can help. Thank you.
317. Save the music department in schools!
This is for children. Let's save the music in schools around the world.
Everyone that LOVEs music in school needs to have music. If we [students] lose the music, not many of us will have the chance to learn how to sing properly. So sign this petition and be proud that you have learnt or taught someone to sing.
318. Establish Parallel Parking Spots at UAHS
For many years, those students at Upper Arlington High School that lack the privilege of owning a parking spot have been faced with the plight of parking on the street. There are too many student-drivers to fit everyone within the two blocks next to the high school, especially when the vast majority of these drivers park four or five feet from the next car, wasting valuable space.
We - the students, faculty, and surrounding residents of Upper Arlington High School - wish to end this lack of organization before we start into the new-year. There would be no better way to start 2004 than by lowering the rate that students are tardy, unblocking the resident's driveways, cutting the number of parking tickets, and stopping all parking in apartment visitor spots.
With your permission, we wish to better this city's high school by painting parallel parking spots down both sides of Brandon and Mt. Holyoke Roads, similar to those flanking Northam Park on Ridgeview and Northam Roads.
We the conserned students of St.Michael, also being friends of Stephanie would love for her to contiune her learning experience at our clean school and by doing so gracing us with her presence day in and day out.
320. Humber College Food Services
For years now Humber students have enjoyed the food prepaired on campus, however, the price of it has skyrocked to the point where students can't afford to eat let alone pay for tuition, book, residence, and many other "fees" we must endure. If you "The Students" feel that the price of food should be lowered I urdge you to sign this petition.
321. Remove Hendry County School Bus Driver
We, the taxpayers of Hendry County, hereby, request that Ms. Denise Brookins be removed as a School Bus Driver with the Hendry County School System. Ms. Brookins in the past 2 months has left a 9 year old child on the bus from 6:30am till 1:30pm. Ms. Brookins has allowed a student to get off at the wrong bus stop to beat up a child. She claims that the child snuck by her. She then asked the kids still on bus what was going on and they told her and she made no attempt to correct her mistake by returning to the bus stop and picking up the child. The students have said during last year that Ms. Brookins, when the students get unrurly on the bus, she just slams on the brakes and almost got hit 3 times last year by a Semi-Rig.
We the taxpayers believe that Ms. Brookins is going through burnout and needs to be removed before she seriously causes one of our children to be tragically injured.
322. Overturn the O.D.S.S. Hat Ban
Orangeville District Secondary School has had a complete ban on hats and other headwear since the second semester of last year (January, 2003). As it has been proven so far, the only thing this ban accomplishes is to create dispute between teachers and students as the former try to do their job as they are told. Several students have had their hats lost by or stolen out of the office (some going for prices of $40 and up), and have not been reimbursed for the lost value. Administration does not recognize student's needs for individuality and freedom. As students in a public school system, the right to voice an opinion needs to be granted.
323. Remove Asst. Principal Radcliff from his job NOW
Recently Asst. Principal has become a party to a federal lawsuit involving allegations of child molestation. He has also in the past been accused by students of inappropriate behavior during his tenure at MBHS as Assistant Principal. If you believe that he needs to be removed from his job please sign this petition.
324. Food at the Marlin Grille
We the students at the college do not like prepared food at the Marlin Grille on the weekends.
325. Get rid of school uniforms
Most of the students at HHS hate the school uniform policy, that's why i'm typing up this petition, hopefully the school board will review all of the names that are signed.
326. Morning-After-Pill Policy for Purdue University
If a woman has had sexual intercourse and fears she may be pregnant, she can take the morning-after pill. If she is pregnant when she takes this high dosage pill, it can act to kill her pre-born child - a living being. Although no testing has been done to confirm the safety of these high dosages, the FDA has approved this use. Purdue currently makes these pills available to students on request.
327. Petition SC-21: Teaching students in Drivers education classes how to drive a manual transmission.
Teach students how to drive a manual transmission in Drivers Ed classes.
This Petition is requesting that all states Driver's education Programs teach students how to drive a manual transmission. It would benefit The schools, the students, the parents in: students will be more alert while diving having to shift gears, more economical and less costly. Students will then have a choice and a variety on what they will be able to drive.
328. Senate Bill 10
Senate Bill 10 (with proposed amendments) would provide access to in-state tuition for bright and hardworking students who have often overcome substantial barriers to excel in their studies and graduate from high school.
To qualify for in-state tuiton, students would have to: Attend an Oregon High School for atleast three consecutive years; Graduate from an Oregon High School; Show that they are beginning a process to gain residency; and Be accepted into an Oregon Public University.
329. Believe In Our Band
In our school district, it is numbers that matter. Our teacher's placements are directed only based on their seniority level, not skill or attitude, simply seniority. Our band teacher has outdone every other one I have ever had. I live in a community of islands and it was not economical to hire a teacher for every single island. So, our teacher came up with the idea to create a floating band. Kids from 3 different islands get on the ferry, one after the other and for almost 4 hours we play and learn and create great relationships. Now our district is taking that away.
330. Replace the Driver of Bus #29
We the students of PHS Bus Route #29 seek the help of the administration to relieve or replace the bus driver, Teresa. We feel that Teresa is unfit to drive our bus. Those on this list agree that the removal of, or replacement of Terasa for a new bus driver is necessary. We all agree to individual interview by the administration to prove our position on this statement.
