We are trying to stop horse slaughter as it is animal cruelty, it is murder!
Every year almost 100,000 horses are killed from abuse or being sent to be slaughtered, turned into glue or dog meat and it must be stopped.
• Horses may end their days at a UK abattoir for a number of reasons - sickness, old age, they prove too costly, or (for race horses) they are deemed inadequate to enter or to carry on racing.
• Horses may change hands many times at markets as people outgrow them, get bored with them, or (as in the case of race horses) they are not performing satisfactorily on the racecourse. Many horses will be subject to a downward spiral of neglect, before arriving at the slaughterhouse.
• Dealers may visit markets on the lookout for cheap horses - there being a good financial return for the meat of slaughtered horses.
• Private owners may choose to sell their horse to the slaughterman for around £300 rather than paying a vet £200 to euthanize their animal.
• Horse meat is sold abroad for human consumption. It is reportedly not used in pet food in the UK.
• Based on the best available evidence, Animal Aid conservatively estimates that around 2,000 race horses, which have not made the grade as racers, are killed in slaughterhouses every year.
• Each year, around 100,000 horses are exported from Central and Eastern Europe for slaughter in Italy, France and Belgium in what can fairly be described as one of the cruelest and least regulated aspects of Europe's live animal trade.
Poland is the biggest exporter of live horses for slaughter in Europe. Ten years ago there were one million horses in Poland but that number has now been reduced to 500,000. Nevertheless, each year, 87,000 leave Poland to be slaughtered for meat. 90 per cent go to Italy and 10 per cent to France and Belgium. Horses endure horrendously long journeys. One of the furthest destinations is Sardinia, a journey of 2500km (1500 miles) which may take as long as 95 hours. Roads are often extremely pot-holed and drivers usually travel too fast.
• When each horse's time comes they are lowered by their hind legs down a chute which is referred to as the "kill box." First, a spike is swiftly driven through the top of the skull and into the brain. very seldom does this kill the horse, it just paralyzes them. Then, the throat is slit and they are hung to bleed. The horse usually does not die for an agonizing ten minutes. After what they have been through to get there, at this point it's a blessing. The horses are then dropped onto a conveyor belt and cut into pieces.

• Another common reason for horses ending up here are auctions. Sometimes horse owners figure they can make a quick few bucks by auctioning off their horses, but this is a huge gamble. More often then not horses end up with the wrong buyers.
• If an owner really cares enough for their horse they will take the time to ensure that they find a buyer with good intentions. Even if there is nothing else which can be done, horses should be euthanized rather than die a slow and painful death. We owe them this. Thank you for taking your time to read this.
4. Stop horse slaughter world wide
Through history horses rode with us through the war and the hard times we have. Now it is time of cars and horses are slaughtered. This needs to end it isn't right.
How would you feel if you were doing great and than you made one mistake. For that you were put in a trailer that was very crowded in very hot or very cold weather without food water nothing. Than you meant your destination and you can smell the smell of death in the air. You are put in the deathbox than you die a bleeding slow painful death.
No horse should have this kind of death it extremely inhumane. For what these animals did for us this is how we repay them by a slow painful death. We were lucky that we even tamed them.
horses have been giving us their loyalty and respect and this is how we repay them.

5. Stop horse slaughter/transportation
Ok. First of all, it's just wrong to eat horses. They help us in many ways, including being our friends. Second, I watched a humane society video about it.

It's wrong to kill horses for meat! And the way they do it!
I would like you to sign to make transportation of horses to the slaughterhouses ILLEGAL.
To convince you a little bit more: there are horse thieves. They steal horses and pack them in the trailers off to the slaughterhouse. Then, thanks to the thief, your horse is being eaten by someone in Belgium or France. (aka they eat horses that belong to Americans)
You may not be a horse lover, but think of all the other people who love horses.
What did horses do to us? They might of kicked people and killed them on racing tracks, but it's never the horse, it's always the rider. Horses don't mean to hurt people on purpous, there's always a reason!
Horses aren't meant to be eaten.

Think of all the things horses did for us.

Imagine if that was you? Would you want to go through that pain? Wouldn't you rather die or want to go back to your friends and the people who loved you but couldn't afford to buy food for you?
Horse owners never mean to give a horse to a slaughter plant, well some do. But most horse owners want them to go somewhere safe.
Horse slaughters always trick people. Telling them lies and skeems.

Horse slaughter is inhumane and wrong. Should horses be killed for consumption of any animal?
Horses should be wild and yet if they are kept in stables they should trust humans and form a bond with them, a friendship like human to human. Then they will understand each other like they can speak the same language.
Horses shouldn't be frightened and hurt by humans. And beyond everything they should NEVER be eaten by humans.

Hello everyone!
I don't know how many of you know about horse slaughter, but it is a truly evil thing. Horses are killed painfully while they are terrified, starved, and just miserable.
People have been doing this for years, and it needs to stop. Approxomately 82,043 horses have been killed this way this year in those cruel slaughterhouses.
I would really appreciate it if you could sign this petition and help the fight to stop slaughter. Thank you!
The United States once granted horses a wish and they felt that horses were the future of the country. So we must stop horse slaughter!
