Petition Tag - population
In a week or so, transfers will be enabled and encouraged from Makaisson to Burlok, Europe's only other Core RP server.
Many of us, the people of Makaisson, like our server fine. Our only issue was lack of scenarios, which could have been dealt with by fixing the parameters by which scenarios are launched, and a growing population.
Servers have to exist in pairs, because you cannot (and rightly so) have characters in both factions on a single server. That being the case, it is the height of foolishness to sacrifice one to save the other. BOTH must remain viable. Other server rulesets will be left 2 or more viable servers, but if the current plans go ahead, there will be only one viable Core RP server.
We hoped that over time our population would build up, especially once we got the the holiday season. We've seen an influx of new folks recently, but with the news of transfers, we are doomed to dwindle away to nothing. New players will not come to Makaisson if they see everyone being encouraged to transfer away.
GOA could have helped our server by running some of those RP events that they'd promised us. They could have helped us by launching the servers simultaneously, instead of three days apart. They could have enough respect for their players to consult us before pulling the plug.
If people are allowed to transfer off Makaisson to Burlok, Makaisson will become completely beyond hope of fixing. So what will be the point of Makaisson even existing?
Save Our Server! Please, GOA, do not kill our community. Give us a chance to grow.
2. Help Greenwood SC Get More Shopping
I am writing to the Greenwood SC residents and surrounding areas to petition more shopping for Greenwood SC. Greenwood is growing in many areas including population, neighborhoods, and companies. But the one thing that Greenwood is very much in need of is shopping and department stores.
I can't tell you the number of times I hear people of Greenwood SC and surrounding areas complaining of not having anywhere to shop for clothing, shoes, toys for kids, crafts/cake supplies, fabrics, home decor, and the list goes on and on. We have Walmart and KMart as our two largest stores and the mall is a disgrace to our town. We had more back in the 1980's than we do now.
In the 1980's we had a decent mall and more shopping than we do today. Gas is so expensive these days it is ashame we have to travel at least an hour away to get the things we need. When you do go try to find something it is impossible to find what you need and people are then forced to go out of town to shop.
I drive through towns smaller than Greenwood and it is amazing to me when I see shopping and department stores being newly built. It saddens me that Greenwood can not take this in consideration and make some changes that we are in desperate need of.
3. Allow Myxomatosis Vaccinations for Rabbits in Australia
Myxomatosis is a deadly strain of virus that affects the European and Cottontail rabbits, and there is currently no vaccination available in Australia against this virus.
The myxomatosis virus was originally spread through the American wild rabbit population during the late 1800’s and was subsequently introduced into Northern Australia and its relative parts so as to control the rabbit problem in crops and other plantations around Queensland. It managed to control the pest problem, devastatingly reducing the rabbit population from 600 million to 100million in two years.
The ones that survived developed a strong immunity to the disease, and as a result wild rabbits are more immune now to myxomatosis than when the virus strain was implemented into Australian rabbit populations during the 1950s.
There is however, no vaccination currently available in Australia to domestic rabbits and they remain at a constant risk to contracting the virus. Myxomatosis usually proves fatal for any rabbit exposed to it, and they can die as soon as 48 hours after being exposed to the virus.
4. More Cardinals for the Republic of the Philippines (RP)
Roman Catholicism is the predominant religion, with 81% of the population belonging to this faith in the Philippines.
The country has a significant Spanish Catholic tradition, and Spanish style Catholicism is highly embedded in the culture, which was acquired from [priest]s or friars (prayle in Filipino). This is shown in traditions such as Misa de Gallo, Black Nazarene procession, Santo Niño and Aguinaldo procession, where large crowds gather, honouring their patron saint/s.
Processions and fiestas are conducted during feast days of the patron saints of various barrios or barangays.
Every year on October 31 to November 2, Filipino families celebrates the Day of the Dead which they spend much of the 3 days and 3 evenings visiting their ancestral graves, showing respect and honor to their departed relatives by feasting and offering prayers.
Christmas in the Philippines is a celebration spanning just more than the day itself. Many traditions and customs are associated with this grand feast, along with
Sen. Joker Arroyo urged the new Papal Nuncio Archbishop Edward Joseph Adams to look into the "disproportionate" number of Filipino cardinals representing the 73 million Catholic population in the Philippines.
Arroyo has filed a resolution pointing out what he called "grossly disproportionate" appointment of three cardinals representing a country in Asia with the biggest number of Catholics.
5. Vote NO on David Couch Immigrant Resolution
Councilmember David Couch introduced a resolution that has 3 prongs:
1. Declare English the official language of Bakersfield.
2. Investigate city services currently being utilized by undocumented immigrants.
3. Declare that Bakersfield will never become a sanctuary city for immigrants.
The Social Justice Task Force is asking concerned residents of Bakersfield to oppose David Couch's resolution. These resolutions would do nothing to effect Federal Immigration Law.
Instead this would increase racial profiling and racial hate crimes in an already divided city. Please sign petition below.
Bakersfield City Council will discuss and possibly vote on these resolutions on Wednesday, September 26th.
6. National Homeless Awareness Day
In a given year 3.5 million Americans will experience homelessness. 800,000 men, women, and children are homeless each night in this nation.
The homeless population is 49% African-American, 35% Caucasian, 13% Hispanic, 2% Native American, and 1% Asian. 40% of the male homeless population is veterans. About 16% of the homeless in the U.S. have severe chronic mental illness. From the 1960's to the early 1980's, 367,000 patients were released from mental institutions, and ended up homeless for lack of having anywhere to go.
About 26% of the homeless population suffers from some form of drug or alchohol abuse. The National Coalition for the Homeless found in 2001 that 42%of the homeless population are employed by day labor agencies, characterized by low pay,no health insurance,no job security and inadequate worker protections.
The federal government says affordable housing should be no more than 30% of a person's income. In 1999, the national two-bedroom housing wage was $11.08: in 2006, the national housing wage was 16.31, a 47% increase. The lack of affordable housing is widely considered to be the main cause of homelessness in the United States today.
7. Give us the gift of Silence
We 400 million Urban residents of India are constantly barraged by unwanted intrusive traffic noises, especially honking 24/7.
It severely affects our health and well being.
It has enormous, immeasurable cascading deleterious effects on the entire society.
We beg for enforced Silence.
8. To Amend Ordinance #9, Article 5--Limits # of Off Sale Licenses By Population
The maximum number of on and off-sale liquor and on and off-sale licenses issued has been limited to the population of the last official census and has left out the busiest bar in the community.
I would like it to be changed so that the population doesn't matter & that it would read that an off-sale license would be issued according to the need & demand at the time in the community.
9. Uncontrolled Canadian Goose Population
August 3, 2006
This is a petition regarding on ongoing complaint with the City of Rochester regarding its lack of interest, concern and effort regarding the uncontrolled Canadian Goose population within the city limits and specifically as to how the destruction of property and contamination of the uncontrolled Goose population directly affects residential neighborhoods and private properties.
The residential community of Pinewood Homeowner's Associations I & II (located at Pinewood Road and McQuillan Court SE, Rochester, MN) is unique in that it is comprised of 48 units with over 85% of the residents being senior citizens and many residents with active, chronic medical issues (ie: cardiovascular diseases, arthritis and other degenerative conditions).
These permanent health issues make it virtually impossible for the residents to directly confront or to clean up after the invading Goose population. In addition, this community property borders directly with a wetland area that is both owned and maintained (so to speak) by the City of Rochester. The Department of Natural Resources presents various methods of population control.
We are confident that the City of Rochester is well aware of those options....none of which have been given active consideration at this point in time.
This petition is submitted as a follow-up to our onsite meeting with Amy Blenker (Rochester City Council Member) and Barbara Huberty (Rochester Public Works Department) on July 12th 2006 and is submitted as per their request.
10. Complete Baner Sus Link Road
July 4, 2006
Complete Baner Sus Link Road.
The road has been proposed for a long time. It has only been half completed.
This road will shorten the distance people have to travel from baner to pashan.
There is a road already infront Rajwada hotel, but the road goes through slums and is risky for girls.
Also many people have started living in the area adjacent to the baner sus link road.
11. One Child per couple policy in India
June 2, 2006
Click the above link to check out the massive population of India.
In order for India to be a better country in the future and have the ability to feed and educate everyone India should implement a one child per couple policy to better manage its population.
12. Support for Canadian Seal Hunt
March 04, 2006
I am responding to the many anti-sealing groups worldwide. These groups which have come into our country and told us we were archaic, and inhumane. I am a supporter of the humane seal hunt in Canada.
To date there is over 5 million seals in population, and this is an over-healthy population. I refer you to http://www.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/media/infomedia/2005/ im01_e.htm for more information about the myths propogated by the anti-sealing groups.
Please let us all take a stand and show the rest of the world that we support our Government, our people, and our culture!
13. HB 3773 Threatens the Life and Health of Filipinos
November 13, 2005
Dear healthcare workers, citizens of the Philippines, and concerned friends:
We encourage you to help us in the fight against a frightening "population control" bill that has been proposed in the Philippine Congress: House Bill 3773, "The Responsible Parenthood and Population Management Act of 2005".
We want to make you aware of the alarming situation that it creates for medical professionals, devout members of all faiths, and anyone else who believes in the sanctity of human life in our country.
No doubt you are familiar with the agenda and tactics of the powerful political forces who support this bill. They offer the usual funding incentives from the UNFPA, and they use deceptive language to hide the truths and tout the great progress for "women's healthcare" and the benefits of "economic improvement". What they fail to mention is the destruction such a bill would wreak on families, the unborn, the medical industry, and perhaps even the Catholic Church -- here in a nation where children and family have always been treasured above everything else.
HB 3773 would impose a 2-child limit on Filipino families and unleash a policy of sterilization procedures and contraceptive distribution upon an unsuspecting public. It would be enforced by discrimination and punishments for those who have larger families or who try to resist its rules -- with costly fines, job loss and "blacklisting", jail sentences, and more. Imagine the unsettling scenarios for our healthcare workers under HB 3773:
- Nurses, doctors, technologists, and pharmacists must compromise their beliefs by distributing and forcing contraceptive devices and medications upon the public; otherwise, they risk their future healthcare employment. This includes abortifacient drugs, which actually violates our own constitution -- since human life is protected from the first moment of conception in the Philippines. Catholics, Muslims, and workers of all faiths will be gravely affected, with no way to conscientiously object.
- Workers will be forced to deceive innocent families who are faithful to the Church and its constant pro-life teachings. Imagine the horror of having to purposely sterilize unsuspecting women or men and deprive them of the possibility of ever bearing children!
- Thanks to the strong guidance and political influence of the Catholic Church, our AIDS rate is remarkably low compared to the rest of the world. But imagine what the spread of the "contraceptive mentality" will do to our people -- with the corresponding rise in AIDS that has been such a scourge in other nations, along with other sexually transmitted diseases. Try to envision the burden on our healthcare system and the fate of those victims in a country that does not have the economic advantages of those in the western world.
- The quality of healthcare will certainly suffer. Morale among workers will sag, and if a doctor or nurse is uneasy about performing certain ghastly procedures, he or she will be prone to more mistakes. In addition, adverse health effects and dangers will plague our citizens -- from the bodily and emotional risks of contraceptive drug use, IUDs, injectibles, sterilization procedures, and other harmful methods.
- Many brilliant medical minds might decide to leave the healthcare profession altogether (or choose not to enter it) rather than violate their own consciences every day. Under HB 3773, small families will get preferential treatment in terms of scholarships and large families will be discriminated against -- reducing the opportunities for faithful Catholics and Muslims in the medical field. Educators in medical schools must adhere to the dictates of HB 3773 in their teaching -- or else.
- And as you well know, the mainstream acceptance of this mentality ALWAYS leads to the legalization of outright abortion on demand. Imagine the horrifying plight of the Catholic Filipino doctor or technician who could be forced to take the life of unborn children one day! Abortion is thankfully illegal in our nation, but HB 3773 will be a huge step towards eliminating any protection for the unborn -- and for mothers-to-be.
This is not only a matter of protecting families from a Nazi-like policy of "population control", immorality, and health risks -- it is also an issue of religious freedom. It affects every aspect of daily life, and we shudder to think how it could impact the freedoms and rights of the Catholic Church and her ability to lead faithful believers. The time is short and the stakes are high. We are one of the last Christian strongholds in the world to have resisted the Culture of Death, and the proposition has stirred much outrage here. By exposing the deceit and educating as many citizens as possible about the dangers, we might have a chance to defeat it. If you agree that the situation is dire, please attach your name to the following petition AGAINST HB 3773 and forward this page to as many people as possible. The petition and names will be sent to our Filipino Congressmen on behalf of medical professionals, concerned citizens, and ALL people of faith -- Catholics, other Christians, and Muslims alike. The congressmen have been bombarded with misinformation, and many are being led astray.
Help them to realize the danger that HB 3773 poses to our people, particularly Catholics and healthcare workers. Let them know that the world is watching and that knowledgeable, highly-respected Christians both here and abroad are troubled by this development. And please pray that we can defeat this insidious bill.

14. Stop the NJ Black Bear Hunt
Commissioner Campbell is deciding whether or not to allow a bear hunt again in NJ.
The last bear hunt was in 2004 when hunters killed 328 bears and it was the first in 30 years. It solved nothing! We need a non-lethal way of managing NJ's bear population. Perhaps sterilization and a bear preserve. Bears inhabit all of NJ's counties and are more of a nusiance then danger. People make them dangerous by feeding them and not properly disposing of their garbage.
There is no need to hunt our bears again. There are approximately less than 3000 bears. Our small state is over developed, over crowded, 1164 people per square mile that'smore than Japan and India, which are only in the range of 900 or less.
It's time people realize that the bears are not in their neighborhood, that in fact, people have invaded the bear's habitat.
15. Oppose HB 3773, The Mother Of All Anti-Life Bills
HB 3773, The Mother Of All Anti-Life Bills: PLEASE OPPOSE IT!
Dear healthcare workers, citizens of the Philippines, and concerned friends around the world,
As medical workers and/or people who care about our country (the Philippines), we encourage you to help us in the fight against a frightening population control bill that has been proposed in our Congress: House Bill 3773, "The Responsible Parenthood and Population Management Act of 2005".
The time is short, since there will be a vote for the bill very soon, and the stakes are high. Many people are outraged by this proposition, and by educating as many citizens as possible about the dangers and exposing the deceit, we might have a chance to defeat it. If you agree that the situation is dire, you are strongly encouraged to examine the following petition AGAINST HB 3773. Then, please sign your name and forward it to as many people as possible.
The petition and list of names will be sent to our Filipino Congressmen on behalf of healthcare workers, concerned citizens, and ALL people of faith -- Catholics, other Christians, and Muslims alike. The congressmen have been bombarded with misinformation, and many of them are being led astray. Help them to realize the dangers that the bill poses to the life, health, and soul of our people, particularly Catholics and healthcare professionals. Help them to see that the world is watching and that knowledgeable, highly-respected Christians both here and abroad are deeply troubled by this development. And most importantly, please keep praying that we can defeat this insidious bill.

16. Protect the Wolves of Norway
The wolf population in Norway is in a critical situation. This spring the government of Norway sanctioned a culling of wolves from only an estimated population of 25 wolves remaining in the country. During the hunt, an alpha female was killed "by accident" from one of the packs not to be targeted for the hunt - effectively dispersing the family. By the end of the hunt there were only 2 families left, and only one mating pair between the two.
The attitude of the government is biased by heavy lobbying of sheep farmers throughout the country who are trying to protect their free-range sheep. A quote from Afenposten tells all: "We want to keep Norway wolf-free. The wolf is vermin and should be taken out," said the leader of the Center Party program committee, Lars Peder Brekk."
Recently another wolf was found dead by unknown causes. This male wolf was a member of the family of wolves whose alfa female was wrongfully killed during the hunt. This death strikes a devastating blow to the wolf population. Now only one family survives in Norway.
The purpose of our petition is to show global support for the wolves and to demand the government of Norway change their policies and protect the wolves from extinction.
17. Opening the doors for all counties in Oklahoma to have county animal control
In order for any county in Oklahoma to implement county animal control the population must exceed 200,000 or more.
The state law needs to changed not based on population, but on need.
18. Red Box Boycott
This petition is for consumers of the Red Box that are tired of the maltreatment and contempt that the Red Box has shown towards it consumer base, Dublin DJ population, public and most of all it's target population the dance music community.
19. Eradicate Box Elder Bug Infestation
This petition is written for the express purpose of eliminating the profuse box elder bug population.
20. One-child policy
India's population is not under control. While the growth rate has decreased, obviously the mortality rate and life expectancy have simultaneously shot up. A huge population, with most of it being below the poverty line is the single solid cause for India's existing 'developing' status. This is not brutal--it is the most practical solution for checking our baby-overproduction.
21. Provide Black Entertainment Television (BET) to residents of Columbia and Greene County
The people of Columbia and Greene county would like Mid Hudson cablevision to provide it customers with the Black Entertainment Televsion Channel. We believe that this network expresses the diversity needed in our area and is reflective of the growing population who this channel will cater to.
22. Ban fox-hunting
Please sign this petition to help us ban fox hunting. It is not necessary, foxes regulaate their own population so we dont have to. Foxes only scavange dead animals they do not kill livestock.
I have created this petition after researching fox hunting for a college presentation.
The ivory trade has pushed elephants steadily toward extinction. In the 1980s, 2,000 elephants were being killed every week across Africa. Only a Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) ban on the international trade in ivory could stop the bloodshed. And yet there is constant pressure on CITES to reopen the international ivory trade.
CITES agreed to a partial lifting of the ban, but this did nothing to curb poaching, to provide adequate funding for enforcement of wildlife protection laws, or to uplift local communities. Still elephants across Africa and Asia continue to be slaughtered and ivory traded in huge quantities. Today there are only an estimated 519,461 wild elephants in Africa and approximately 30,000 wild elephants in Asia.
At the height of the international ivory trade in the 1970s and 1980s, Zambia's elephant population dwindled from 200,000 to fewer than 20,000, according to Zambia's Deputy Tourism Minister. This trend was reversed only when the international ivory ban was agreed. Any relaxation in protection for Zambia?s elephants could wipe out the remaining elephants in a very short space of time.
Zambia's elephants can earn far more for their country alive than dead. In 1989 Kenya's elephants were estimated to be worth US$25 million in tourism each year. Zambia should not allow itself to be lured by the prospect of the quick money to be gained by allowing elephants to be killed for their ivory when there is a long-term profit in keeping elephants alive.
24. Stop Seal Hunting in Canada
Hunters are set to defy protests and slaughter more than a quarter of a million seals to supply an international trade in furs and health supplements that will soon target Britain's shops.
Sealers are set to defy international protests by clubbing shooting more animals than they have for decades, leaving the Atlantic sea ice off Newfoundland stained red.
The Canadian government has issued licences to shoot or club to death 275,000 harp seals, almost all pups only two weeks old.
The massacre has returned with a vengeance in the past four years following 20 years of strict controls imposed after protests. The two-week-old pups are prized for their soft white fur.
The hunters have vowed to proceed despite the fact that the seal population has already been devastated by global warming, which has melted the ice floes on which the mammals give birth. The lack of ice means that the seals have been forced to give birth in the water, where their pups drown.
Worldwide horror at the hunt led to a boycott of seal fur by most fashion houses and the European Union imposed a ban on certain seal products. To appease animal welfare actitivists, the sealers now try to kill the animals first by shooting them with high-powered rifles, but always carry a club to smash the skulls of any seals that are still alive. However, one group of international vets found that four out of five sealers do not check whether seals are dead before skinning them.
After years of being taboo, seal fur is making a comeback. Last year the Louis Vuitton collection shown in Paris featured coats, tunics and pinafore dresses made from sealskin. Donatella Versace recently featured sealskin in her first collection.
The number of seals being killed has quadrupled in the past four years, and Canadian government scientists estimate the population is declining again by about 1 per cent a year. The Department of Fisheries and Oceans' own documents assert that these forms of commercial trade encourage illegal sealing.
Seal hunting is clearly an industry from another century, and should have been relegated to the history books.
25. People Against A Big Middle School For Scripps Ranch
Are you aware that the property for the proposed Scripps Ranch middle school site is significantly smaller - half the size of Wangenheim - even though the number os students is greater than Wangenheim?
26. Letter of disappointment to EU and UN
Dear Excellencies,
I am writing you in response to your criticism over the Government of Macedonia's latest action against the Albanian terrorists (i.e. as you refer to them as "armed rebels and extremists"). Your "disappointment" on how the latest crisis around Aracinovo was handled, had particularly provoked me to express MY bitterness and deep disappointment regarding the following:
1. I am very disappointed to hear that your excellencies have been disturbedby the fact that the Government of Macedonia had to take decisive action against armed groups who threaten the people of Macedonia and use weapons as a tool to legitimize themselves and their actions (often later acting as "the victims themselves"); furthermore, I am equally disappointed by the actions of the Swedish security forces (Sweden is currently presiding
with the EU) against peace protesters in Gothenburg during the EU Summit in mid-June.
2. I am very disappointed that your Excellencies have not taken into consideration the fact that all parties involved in the process of reconstructing Kosovo have failed to restore a lasting peace, law and order in the neighboring Yugoslav province of Kosovo, which permanently produces negative consequences for the peace and stability of the whole region(including the Republic of Macedonia).
3. Furthermore, I am very disappointed and disturbed to see lack of willingness by your respective governments to build multiethnic Kosovo, as previously pledged.
4. Many Macedonian citizens (despite of their ethnic or religious affiliation) are stunned by the fact that international humanitarian
organizations are vigorous only when it comes to helping unfortunate ethnic Albanians and neglecting the others in need.
5. I am alarmed to find out that you have FINALLY been disturbed by the crisis in Macedonia and kindly ask you to go back in time and figure out when was the exact and right time for you to be really upset!
6. I am disappointed to realize that you think it is the Macedonian
Constitution that generates the current crisis. I would kindly refer you to the Constitution of the neighboring Republic of Albania and ask you to read all of it (including its Preamble).
7. I am very disappointed that all of you failed to employ due diligence as you have done so during the peak of the current crisis and "discover" that there is no "Slav" majority - rather ethnic Macedonians and that there is no one third ethnic Albanian population in Macedonia - rather 22,9% according to the 1994 census, conducted (believe it or not) by The Council of Europe itself and its ICOM (International Census Observation Mission) in Macedonia led by Mr. Robert McMurray of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Certain Media based in your respective countries are still insulting a greater majority of the population by naming them "Slavs" which does not correspond to their true ethnic affiliation. We have never heard an affirmative comment from them talking about "citizens of Macedonia" if nothing else.
8. I am very disappointed that my country's name is still FYROM, thanks to your "proved" interest in defending and promoting fundamental human rights and freedoms (among those let me remind you about the freedom of expression and self-determination). In addition, I am insulted by the fact that the EU mission in Skopje represented by Mr. Teixeira is named the "Delegation of the European Commission to the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, FYROM, Skopje"!
9. Let me remind you that you still have an ongoing obligation and a pledge to protect Macedonia and its borders particularly the volatile one with Kosovo), made in the eve of the NATO intervention against Yugoslavia. Kosovo's well being cannot be constructed on behalf of the misery of its neighbors, just for the sake of "showing its success story" which so far exists not.
10. I am very disappointed that some of your envoys are beginning to "shoulder" and chit chat with those who undeniably want the partition of my country. If that indeed is your last word on Macedonia also, then let us not waste more time and lives and let the demarcation begin immediately, rather than pressure for continuation of a political dialogue containing ridiculous
bargaining over rights and powers which involves parties who per se have no legitimate right to negotiate on such issues exclusively. If you all truly want the stability and the peace in this region your missionaries would at the moment be assisting the government rather than act as a "taxi-service" to all those who came in uninvited, to kill, threaten, block water supplies and force civilians to leave their homes and properties just because they do not fit into their xenophobic scenario and "cause".
11. Dear Excellencies, it is true Macedonia has little money to buy weapons and rockets, but when it comes to defending our values and freedom such money is well spent to our minds. Loyal citizens do not fear legitimate security forces. Criminals do!
12. Let me in the end express my hope that you will reconsider your position toward Macedonia and its certainly "imperfect" Government and convey a clear message of support to those of us who act and work toward further democratization and the European prospective of Macedonia. All those inspired by the "freedom fighters" clearly demonstrated fear and disbelieve in the European integration itself. I guess your Excellencies this is the last chance for you to decide are you going to give a credit to those who would rather stand on the demarcation line, than to those committed to pursue the way of the integration toward Europe, without alternatives and preconditions and no matter how hard and challenging it is.
