1. Alaskan Workers Need Their Legislature's Support for Pt. Thomson Project

The Point Thomson Project has reached a major developmental target by safely completing two natural gas production wells. Final testing confirmed that the unique nature of these high pressured, highly productive wells will be essential to the successful development of an Alaskan gas pipeline.

While the Alaska gas pipeline itself may be still on the horizon, the facilities to produce the gas need to be developed now in preparation. There are years of work that will support hundreds of Alaskan families in construction of roads, airstrip, production pads, gas gathering, treatment facilities, site infrastructure and the drilling of additional production wells. The developers continue to move forward on the project with the construction of a 2010-2011 ice road, to remove drilling-phase material and components, in order to create the foundation for the future production site.

While the Project is advancing, the developer is working to settle with the State on the terms of a lease agreement for the Point Thomson Unit reserves. The developer is currently conducting an Environmental Impact Study (EIS) and is awaiting approval from government agencies. The years of work to continue construction on this pad cannot begin until the lease agreement has been settled and the EIS has been approved.

Because of the short season in which construction can be responsibly carried out on the North Slope, a rigid timeline has been established. This makes the lease settlement and approval of the environmental impact study important to the project. Delays will cost many Alaskans good jobs in an already uncertain oil and gas industry.

As individuals we have seen the developer’s determined commitment to the safety of the workers and protecting the environment. We have witnessed their resolute intent and financial commitment towards the development of the Point Thomson project. Many of us feel we are finally seeing tangible progress for the future Alaska Gas Pipeline construction.

2. Repair Hwy 37 Between Calhoun & Fort Depost

The Highway between Calhoun and Fort Deposit is in a state of disrepair and has been this way for too long. The main highway is about to collapse and is about to overtake the detour. Our children rides the buses over this highway two time everyday to get to and from school. We are afraid that someone will be hurt or killed if something is not done to fix it as soon as possible.

Putting gravel on it at this point will not help, it would be like putting a bandaid on a broken arm. This piece of this hughway needs to be repaired and we will not accept anything less.

4. Demanding change in our education system

I am writing as a concerned parent of a student who is to be attending kindergarten in the year 09/10. I currently live in Clintondale which is Porter township. I was supposed to register my daughter for kindergarten this year and I am struggling with the fact that the KCSD is purely being run by power and money. Here is my story: My daughters designated school is Robb elementary. Now I am sure all of you who don't know about the "policies" are wondering why Robb when this family lives in Clintondale. Yes, I thought the same thing. So I called to get answers. And like we all know nobody ever has any. I do not want my daughter to go to Robb for the fact that it is so big. It has three kindergarten classes and Lamar Township only has 12 students in their kindergarten. This is pure ludicrous. Not only that but the fact I am going to pass three yes that's right three other elementary schools before I get to Robb. So many students are falling between the cracks of the education system and the district is allowing this to happen. I want my daughter to go to a school where to is going to get the attention that every student deserves. Next year so far there is only 25 students going to Mill Hall elementary in the kindergarten class.

Now also attending Lamar Township is a little girl who her designated school was Robb but she is being allowed to go to Lamar for the simple fact that her mother went to a board meeting and said I live in Porter Township and if my daughter goes to Robb then she will make friends in Lock Haven and I will have to drive her to Lock Haven to play with her friends. So they passed it and allowed her to go to Lamar Township.... and you call this justification. Absolutely not....I want to send my daughter to a school where I know she is going to get the education she deserves and we are going to put social power over that. Where does it end??

That's my question to you? When are we as citizens going to stand up and say ya know this mother has a point. There was a study done by a group of people who were concerned about the education system over the entire country. Whether your going to the suburbs of San Fransisco or a small town like Mill Hall/ Lock Haven results all came out pretty much the same and the results will blow you socks right off.

It was a study on students who have dropped out of school and we currently have about 30% of students dropping out and 45% of those students said that they dropped out in high school because during their elementary education years they were simply not prepared to handle the knowledge at the high school level. WHAT?!?!? That is what is going on here folks. That is what is going on. When I called the attendance office, transportation office, and the superintendents office and said all I am asking is for justification for my child going to a school that is in Lock Haven when I have an elementary school 2 miles from my house they all said the same thing....that is what the board passed. Blows me away. So in closing here is what my conclusion is.

My daughters education will be determined my a handful of people who all have political power and a better social status than John Doe down the street. Is that really justification? And at the end of the day who are we??? It is a question that we as citizens need to really think about. This is a serious situation and I am sure I am not the only mother or parent for that matter who has the same concerns. Let's come together as a community and make our education system what it needs to be. Or we will just be another statistic?

8. Halt proposed development on Glendale Court

Infinity Developer has proposed to build a single-family house on Glendale Court.

This action has created concerns about the undeveloped land and surrounding infrastructure issues.

We note the following concerns that have been raised by neighbors about existing problems:

STORM WATER DRAINAGE ISSUES:
. Neighbors have complained of flooding and soilerosion along the creek behind Glendale Court and Pine Valley Circle resulting from poor storm water drainage.

. Storm water from nearby school, Woodland, drains out of a corroded pipe into the debris and eroded creek behind Glendale Court and Pine Valley Circle, creating a run over.

. Run-off water improperly channeled onto nearby land/property has caused damage to vegetation and parts of the landscape on Glendale Court and Pine Valley Circle.

SEWER ISSUE:
. Neighbors have complained of sewage smell in the area behind Glendale Court and Pine Valley Circle. This is a health issue in the community.

We're seeing the blight in the neighborhood of sink holes, buckling/cracked streets and driveways. The proposed site is next to a vacant house, surrounded by these deteriorating conditions.

13. Award Fremantle 4 points for St Kilda game Apr 30, 2006

Today we saw a debacle of the highest order at Aurora Stadium in Launceston, Tasmania in an AFL game between the Fremantle Football Club and the St Kilda Football Club.

At the completion of the game, the siren was blown with Fremantle leading by 1 point. Due to the siren being very low in volume, the umpire controlling the game claimed he didn't hear it, depsite the Fremantle players raising their arms in triumph upon hearing it, the St Kilda players dropping their heads in defeat, and another field umpire appearing to run in to rectify the error.

Play continued and in the ensuing confusion a St Kilda player scored a point before the game was officially brought to a close, with a draw being the result. Clearly the Fremantle Football Club were robbed of the win and were the true winners of the game.

We demand that the point scored by St Kilda be removed from the records and that the Fremantle Football Club be awarded the game and the 4 premiership points. In the ineterst of fairness and for the sake of preserving the integrity of the game and the AFL competition, this move is essential and must be irrevocable.

The following questions must also be answered for the public and supporters of AFL in Australia:

(i) How long was the final siren sounded for?
(ii) Did the Timekeeper sound the siren a second time?
(iii) When did the field umpire signal the completion of playing time?
(iv) If the field umpire did not hear the 2nd sounding why was the game stopped?

The integrity of this great game must be preserved and the correct club must be rewarded for its win in Tasmania.

14. 16th Avenue Noise Attenuation Wall

The primary purpose of the proposed wall at the 16th Avenue interface with the Rosedale community is to provide necessary noise attenuation for the residents who live beside the street, the 6-lane east-west trucking route through Calgary.

It should perform to this standard. Any break in the continuity of the wall is a weak point for noise attenuation.

The City of Calgary tender drawings for the Rosedale interface, on view at the City construction office at 1635 7th St NW, show the wall with breaks, about 15 - 20 ft long, at the end of every street block where there is a remnant lot in the community. The lot is to be redeveloped with an infill house and an alley link. The infill house is intended to function as the continuation of the noise attenuation, across the alley from the break in the wall.

The reason given by the City and its representatives, for providing these breaks, is that it will relieve the visual monotony of a continuous wall. This reason is doubtful given that wall is being designed with such a high level of detail and variation, and with extensive landscaping on the 16th Avenue side.

-The breaks are a weak point in the wall that will allow traffic noise to bleed into the neighbourhood.

-The breaks are a safety hazard. There will be no real barrier to absorb a vehicle from veering off of 16th avenue into the neighbourhood.

-The breaks create confusion on a pedestrian scale. Pedestrians will walk down alleys rather than neighbourhood streets.

16. Save Point Pleasant !!

This is a petition that I'm starting in the hopes that Fox won't be stupid and cancel this amazing show. I am getting tired of getting hooked on shows only to have them taken off the air. So even though Point Pleasant has only had six episodes on I decided to take action and try to keep this show on the air.

I hope that others will sign this and join me in the fight to keep this show on the air. Fox is on shaky ground with me because I'm not too happy that they cancelled Firefly created by the genius Joss Whedon and cancelled Wonder Falls after three episodes which was also a great episode.

I am still waiting for Tru Calling to start which keeps on getting pushed. So it's a sad day when a person has to already think about starting a petition to save a show that has barely begone.

The community of West Point, Hempfield Township PA (located east of Pittsburgh) had at one time a playground. The Government failed to maintain the land and the playground since closed, posted "NO TRESSPASSING". ALL other Hempfield housing plans have a township run/owned playground except us. The land is there, we want the township to simply clean it up, put some swings and a basketball hoop on it so that our children can enjoy it.

Why should we be excluded from having a recreational area when we pay the same taxes as other township residents.

20. Parole Protest - Robert Sanchez TDCJ # 00531913

In the very early morning hours of March 11, 1989 Balcones Heights (Texas) Police Officer Richard Scott Rogiers was shot twice in the head after making a "routine" traffic stop and died nearly 24 hours later on March 12. The man Officer Rogiers pulled over for speeding that fateful morning was Robert Sanchez. Sanchez was convicted of capital murder and is currently serving life in prison (TDCJ #00531913, SID #02701316).

During the trial, Bexar County Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Vincent DiMaio pointed out that the first shot was a stunning, but non-fatal blow to the side of the head, which would have caused Officer Rogiers to fall to his knees. At that point, Sanchez could have chosen to flee, leaving Officer Rogiers injured but alive. Instead, while Officer Rogiers was on his hands and knees, Sanchez chose to deliberately fire the second, fatal shot at point-blank range, execution style, to the back of the head.

Officer Rogiers, better known at "Scottie", was 2 weeks shy of his 30th birthday when he was murdered. He left behind a wife of nearly 6 years and a 2 ½ year old son, along with numerous relatives and friends. He had served on the Balcones Heights Police Department for 6 years. Scottie was a loving and caring man who was very dedicated to his family and profession. He was passionately committed to the service of protecting and defending the citizens of Balcones Heights in San Antonio, Texas. He was not a man who deserved to have his life cut short, especially in such a brutal manner.

Robert Sanchez has currently served only 14 1/2 years of his life sentence for the brutal, cold-blooded murder of Officer Rogiers. Sanchez is eligible for parole on March 9, 2004 and was placed into the parole review process on September 9, 2003.

Robert Sanchez is a man capable of cold bloodedly murdering a police officer. He is a man who completely lacks regard for humanity and a man not worthy of rejoining society. He is NOT a man who should serve the minimum sentence for his horrible crime, but rather a man who should die in prison.

This resolution has never been upheld. This site is still being dumped in not only by the City of East Point but by private contractors. This operation has to stop and Council needs to get the City Manager moving with this resolution.

30. All Enron recipients, must recuse themselves from investigation to avoid the look of impropriety...

Anyone who accepted money from Enron needs to recuse themselves. I think it is pretty petty of the Democrats to keep trying to pounce on our President. I know they want to get elected, but this is stupid. We are talking pot and kettle here, and my Mom always said the bit dog hollers first.

I think instead of playing Politics, they should work together for the good of the Nation. It is time we play fair.

In light of the recent events involving Enron, the massive amounts of money received by those who would investigate, point fingers and name names. In our opinion, we believe that anyone who received money from this company should recuse themselves from the investigation, and stop the appearance of impropriety.
