1. Southeastern Railways should improve services to passengers during bad weather

During the recent wintry weather, Southeastern Trains provided a poor service to the people of Lewisham.

In addition to a poor train service, they failed to provide an adequate service in terms of informing passengers of delays and cancellations.

2. Give us access to Finsbury Park

In a City the size of London, the Underground system is the quickest way to get around and we are disappointed with the Mayor's decision to shelve 22 of the 45 planned step free access projects across London only committing himself to providing step-free access at 29 per cent of all stations by 2017. This is a major step back from previous plans to provide step-free access on a third of the network by 2013. As a result, many disabled passengers, older people and parents with young children are being denied access to this mode of transport. This is particularly concerning in the run up to the 2012 Paralympics and makes us wonder how the Mayor is planning to keep his post-Beijing pledge to make London’s Games the most accessible ever.

It makes little sense that Finsbury Park, where the current 49.1m passenger journeys a year are likely to increase by 40% over the next 15 years, is not being made step-free whilst Kingsbury and Amersham, both serving less than one tenth of Finsbury Park’s passengers, are being made accessible. We believe that money would be better spend on projects in areas where a larger number of people would benefit.

The decision makes even less sense because Network is going ahead with plans to provide step-free access from the overground platforms to street level at Finsbury Park. It has now given Transport for London and the Mayor until the autumn to change their minds on working together to make Finsbury Park step-free.

These are the reasons why we (Jeremy Corbyn MP, Jennette Arnold AM, local councillors, the Islington Disability Network, Islington Mobility Forum and Transport for All) are working together to collect as many signatures to pass to the Mayor to convince him to change his mind. If you agree that Finsbury Park Underground station should be made accessible to all passengers then please sign this petition. We are aiming to hand the petition over to the Mayor in the Autumn.

Ps. Please provide your email address to ensure your signature counts!

4. Oversized Passengers on Airplanes

As obesity becomes a bigger problem in the United States, so does the impact it has on various facets of life. If you have travelled on an airplane with an obese passenger who cannot fit in the seat, you know that the experience is unplesant at best and downright impossible at worst.

Southwest Airlines has started to enforce a policy that if a passenger is too large to fit in one airline seat, they must purchase a second one. This is fair for all parties; the overweight passenger benefits from the extra space, and the surrounding passengers are not 'squished'.

Before Southwest implemented this policy, 90 percent of complaints were about obese passengers.

5. Removal Of Bus Driver "Arletha Appea"

For the last month Arletha Appea, has been the bus driver for the 79X (5:20pm bus Jefferson Rd. & Smith Rd.) Leaving from Parsippany arriving to Newark.

Arletha is reckless with her driving and we the passengers are requesting that NJ Transit please remove Arletha Appea from this route.

Arletha drives the bus as if it was her own personal sports car. She drives on the rear bumper of the car in front of her. At times forcing them to move out of her way. Arletha likes to drive in the far left lane of Route 280. She has a habit of braking shortly and therefore thrusting the passengers forward and back in their seats. When attempting to make a turn or drive around curves, she does not slow down resulting in the bus seeming like it will overturn.

With all this said the safety of the passengers are at risk and Arletha acts as if she does not value her life or the life of these passengers. We are requesting that she be removed from this bus line immediately.

We the Passengers of the 79X leaving Parsippany to Newark are requesting her removal.

6. Let the Cabs Through late-hour bar-blockades in all US cities

Most cities have an alcohol-bar-district, and sometimes (Oklahoma City) the police block off the streets in those districts so that no one comes in after a certain time. The cabs, that are to take the responsible drunks out, are meant to go right up to the passengers; but the cabs are blocked off by the police, which wastes the time and money both of the passengers and of the drivers.

7. Memorial For Those Slain in Sept 11th Atacks

It is our wish, as citizens of The United States of America, to ensure that the attack perpetrated on September 11th, 2001, will never be forgotten by anyone. We believe that the site in New York in which many bodies of those slain still rest, is now considered by us all as a sacred place, and that we should set up a memorial there for those who lost their lives, including the passengers on flight 93 and those who were killed at the Pentagon.

We believe that this memorial should be something seen from a distance by night or by day, something that no terrorist can destroy, so that all who see it will know that we shall overcome and that this horrible tragedy has not killed our spirits, but has made us stronger.
