1. Do NOT Delay Hillingdon's Building Schools for the Future Programme
In 2008 the Government announced that Hillingdon secondary and special schools would be included in a £150 million programme of modernising and improving our schools and making their facilities fit for the 21st century.
A year ago the council sent out to local schools a brochure setting out their plans on how this money would be invested in improving our schools. The Council said at that time that “We will experience exciting new changes in Hillingdon schools, making them suitable for 21st century learning.” The Council told us that the plan was to start in the south of the borough and include the north of the borough as soon as possible.
The Council should have agreed its plans with the Government by now so that we can secure the funds and start the work. However, on Thursday 18th March 2010, the leader of the council informed secondary head teachers that the Council is delaying agreeing the improvement programme plans until after the election and is laying off the bulk of the staff working on the programme. In addition the national Conservative education spokesperson has said that if the local programme has not reached “financial close” by the election “then it won’t be guaranteed.”
In effect this means that the £150 million programme for our schools is now at serious risk.
Many children are bullied at our schools and nothing constructive is being done to protect them! The bullies now 'rule' our education establishments and even the teaching staff are not allowed to impose control. This situation can even result in young people taking their own lives in desperation!
Society owes the young an education free from threats and violence by their peers!
The City of Calgary will start a curbside residential recycling program in 2009. The plan excludes all schools. Most schools are located in residential areas, so the trucks will drive right past the schools but not stop to collect their paper.
The cost of stopping at schools would be minimal if schools are simply added to the route as trucks move through communities to collect recycling.
The children and young adults in our schools are the leaders of tomorrow. Society will be well served if our younger generation learn the importance, the logic and the simplicity of being environmentally friendly at home, at school at work and at play.
We are asking the City of Calgary to help our schools with this by allowing schools to be included in the curbside recycling program.
4. Ban The Golden Compass from our schools
The movie's objective is to bash Christianity and promote atheism.
The movie has been dumbed down to fool children and parents, in hope that they will buy his trilogy where in the end children kill God and everyone can do as they please.
5. Get Intelligent Design into our Schools
Our schools are telling us to make desicions for ourselves, but they give us only one side of the story.
I believe that all students should be given sufficent information to make their own decisions.
85% homeschooled children are taught intelligent design. Those children on average do 50-100 points better on their SATs, I believe that there is a correlation between these two facts.
6. Where are Our Tax Dollars Going?
July 22, 2006
Parents work, Parents Pay Taxes, Where is that money going?
I feel that the schools are not getting what they need. Our tax dollars need to be going toward our schools. Instead of Teachers and Parents buying everything.
How can parents pay for 3-4 kids to go to school with this school supply list? How can teachers, pay for their kids and plus pay for her or his classroom supplies? IT CAN'T BE DONE!!
That's why the government that has been promising us free education needs to MAKE IT FREEEEEEE FOREVERYONE!
I have a petition started already, I have sent it in email to at least 100 people, some of them have sent it back to let me know how its doing, and some of them sent itout to family and friends until it reaches to 100 then they send it back to me.
I already have at least 50 signatures right now. And I have about 30 more that I know first hand that wants to sign it too. I plan on taking apetition around town, getting people to sign it. I might even hold a sign petition party. Something needs to be change about our school system lets make a difference.
Stand up for what is right. Taxes should pay for our schools and their needs.
We pay enough of them, where is it going, Oh yeah Their wallets is where our money going.
7. Teach Intelligent Design in US Schools
Few people realize that intelligent design is a science. It is a theory just as evolution is. However schools are not allowed to teach intelligent design, but they are allowed to teach evolution.
Students in our schools are only being exposed to one possible theory on the most primitive questions about our existence. Isn't it the duty of our schools to present students with the information they need to form their own conclusions? How can they be fulfilling their responsibilities if they are not allowed to teach intelligent design?
I personally am a Christian and believe that the theory of intelligent design is true, however my opinion on whether or not the theory of intelligent design is true is irrelevant.
If the theory of evolution is allowed to be taught despite its flaws, then intelligent design should also be taught in our public schools.
8. RE-INTRODUCE RELIGIOUS EDUCATION IN OUR PUBLIC SCHOOLS
Religious Education (from here on referred to as RE) plays a significant role in molding the lives of our youth today. From the teachings received during RE sessions, youths will be assured of good moral, ethical and spiritual teaching. This will go along way in curbing the wrong doings that are evident in our country due to the behavioral pattern of our children. To withhold RE from our youth, is to allow the devil into our schools. Having heard counsel, and received instruction, our children and youth will be made wise for their future state according to Proverbs 19:20.
Change in our society will not come tomorrow, but one thing we know for sure, it will come in the future if we target the young. Religious Education needs an urgent re-introduction in our schools, for if we forget God, our nation is doomed.

9. Make Uniforms Mandatory In Our Schools
With the current dress code in our schools, leaves areas so broad and varies from student to student. While every child cannot be stopped for inappropriate clothing many are not stopped at all. Making uniforms mandatory would not solve all problems but would resolve many of the clothing issues being faced by parents, teachers, and students.
10. Save the Music in our Schools
I've overheard that congress or the white house are trying to take the music classes out of school. I am still a student in grade school but music is a very big part of my life and I throughly enjoy going to music classes. So please save the music and help keep music in schools. They already took prayer out of the schools now they're trying to take music out. My grandmother goes to the Governor's Mansion every year and she'll be able to give the petition to the Governor, and the Governor can get the pettion to his brother, Mr. President George W. Bush. So please sign my petition. Thank you.
11. PA State needs control over the Schools
Pa State board of Education has no control over the school system. Most teachers in our schools do not even need to be certified.
12. The Way Teachers and Principals Teach Our Children
A lot of our schools are run amock. Teachers, Principles, Guidance Counselors, etc don't know how to understand our children. They see them the way they want to. And if your child's grades stay low, they try and lable them or say they don't pay attention. Some teachers physically touch our children and get away with it because of their Teacher Contract. Some authoritive figures in our school just get sick of handling our children and recommend them to quit school. All authoritive figures in our schools should have to have further education themselves to learn how to understand our children. And with such large classes, our children having problems with grades don't get the extra help they need.
Our schools and their educational teachers need a deeper, thorough examination. All for our children's sakes. And only 3 minutes in between classes to go to lockers and get books is outrageous! Then when they are late, they get detention! What good is this teaching our children? Somebody help our children. They are the next generation and our future authoritive figures!
