1. City of Olympia: Conserve nature trails and forest next to LBA Park
We, the citizens of Olympia and Thurston County, take pride in respecting and protecting our environment. The upland forest in the Chambers Lake Basin can be best used to increase the size and improve the quality of the adjacent LBA Park.
The population in the Chambers Basin is growing beyond the capacity of the current parks that serve it. For years,we, the residents of SE Olympia and beyond, have been walking with friends and dogs the decades-old established trails in the woods behind LBA Park. It is a lovely setting with a forest canopy, winding trails, modest hills, solitude, and varied habitats. The forest is home to coyote, raccoon, deer, porcupine, various species of birds, including hawks, eagle, quail and many other species of animals and plants. The trails are also used for running, training, mountain biking, and occasionally horseback riding.
The largest portion of the trails are within the 80-acre Trillium development proposed for approval by the City of Olympia. The City has recently rejected the developer's proposal, but the developer, D.R. Horton (a national developer of large subdivisions) has applied to reconfigure zoning to allow a new development proposal. We now have a window of opportunity that with community support, the City, the County and the developer might be able to broker a deal to preserve this parcel as a park.
The forest within this parcel is indeed an asset to SE Olympia shaping its identity, providing habitat, shade, stormwater retention and more. Before the last remaining tracts of forest in our basin are cleared, let's save a portion of it. In doing so, we can prevent flooding, provide habitat and a wildlife corridor, and have a place nearby for all to enjoy nature.
Let's conserve the beautiful trails and forest next to LBA Park. It will be a source of inspiration for generations to come.
2. Extra trains on the District Line Wimbledon Branch
London Underground has previously announced that it planned to discontinue weekday services to Olympia. This would relieve pressure on Earls Court station and allow up to five additional morning rush hour trains to be provided on the Wimbledon line.
Now, following pressure from Olympia residents, it is backtracking.
3. Revision to No Parking area signage marking criteria RCW 46.61.570
Hope you got a parking ticket, and it wasn't clearly marked, this was sent out, but no one seemed to want to help take action by signing and forwarding. EVEN IF YOU GO TO COURT YOU WILL STILL PAY MONEY, SO... SAVE YOUR TIME AND JUST SEND IN YOUR MONEY. Myself, I am not from Washington, and will be leaving soon..
Purpose of petition is to provide clear signage/marking of No Parking areas. Current RCW 46.61.570 does not require signage/marking to be visible from both directions of travel.
This allows persons to to be in violation of RCW 46.61.570 without being aware of posted areas due to non visibility of posting. Petition is to support a change or addendum to RCW 46.61.570 to require the State of Washington to properly post restricted areas visible from all directions of travel.
4. Offener Brief an Jacques Rogge (IOC)

6. Street blocking gives Evergreen a bad name
For the past two years, the MAC has blocked streets in Olympia.
We the undersigned students, faculty, staff and alumni of Evergreen State College, recognize that the Mayday street party is offensive to many people in the Olympia community and is ineffective as a tool for political change. Furthermore, we pledge not to participate unless the event is coordinated with the city of Olympia.
