2. Dedicated Servers for CoD: Modern Warfare 3 on game consoles

While the PC gaming community has for years taken dedicated servers in networked games for granted, the console community has not had this luxury to nearly the same extent.

Instead of players connecting to dedicated servers that take on the responsibility of hosting networked games, where latency is reduced significantly, and only other limitations can affect online play such as a game’s net code. Consoles typically connect on a kind of host/client network architecture without dedicated servers as hosts, where latency is a much larger concern and can affect gameplay drastically. Some major limitations, such as network bandwidth, restrict this kind of host/client architecture from working efficiently.

With all the fan support, and huge profits generated from the Call of Duty franchise, it would not be a financial concern for Activision (one of the largest game publishers) to provide dedicated servers to the console gaming community, as well as the PC community.

6. Keep Route 65

OC Transpo is trying to approve their proposed business plan,
which would be implemented in September 2011. One of the
routes under review for consolidation to reduce duplication is
route 65, a bus servicing North Kanta. If route 65 is
removed, its usual passengers would be forced to take one of
two buses, depending on their location, the 60 and 68, both
of which are always at maximum capacity by the time they
reach stops accessible to the passengers of the 65.

8. Keep the NBN owned by the Government

NBN Co Limited (NBN Co) was created to design, build and operate the infrastructure that will enable advanced digital services to be provided to the nation.

On 24 November 2007 Australians voted in a new Labor Federal Government led by Kevin Rudd. As part of the party’s policy platform the new government proposed a national broadband network for all Australians.

The Hon Kevin Rudd MP Prime Minister and the Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy, Senator Stephen Conroy, announced the formation of the wholesale-only NBN Co on 7 April, 2009 to enable the delivery of superfast broadband to Australian homes and workplaces.

The company is wholly-owned by the Commonwealth represented by two “Shareholder Ministers” – the Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy and the Minister of Finance and Deregulation.

Michael Quigley was announced as Executive Chairman to the NBN Co Board and Chief Executive Officer on 25 July 2009. Other Board appointments were announced on 6 August.

The Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy, Senator Stephen Conroy announced on 6 August, 2009 that McKinsey-KPMG had been appointed as Lead Advisor for the National Broadband Network Implementation Study.

The government plans to sell the NBN after 5 years of operation.

9. Save Cartoon NetWork!!

In March 2008 Cartoon Network announced Robert Swartz as its new VP of original programming. Along with leading development and current teams, Swartz oversees development of all animated, live-action and alternative series for the network.

Being a longtime viewer of Cartoon Network for the past 15 years of my life, it disappoints me to say that this business endeavor has become a harsh and unnecessary decision with little success and has left fans of Cartoon Network with false hopes.

13. Request to increase network speed in Copper Beech Townhomes, Kalamazoo MI Branch

The internet connection currently being provided for the tenants at Copper Beech Townhomes in Kalamazoo, MI is insufficient for the number of tenants living in this complex.

A single 30mbps (megabit per second) connection is being divided among several hundred tenants, with no option to use your own ISP (internet service provider).

This is unacceptable, as the majority of the tenants in this complex are college students at KVCC (Kalamazoo Valley Community College), Kalamazoo College, or Western Michigan University and require an internet connection for their schoolwork. This is having an impact on the ability of these students to do their coursework.

We are requesting the managers of Copper Beech Townhomes, LLC. to increase the connection speed dramatically or to allow tenants to aquire their own internet connections in exchange for a rent reduction.

A minimum speed of 1.5mbps per tenant is a typical minimum speed for high speed internet services, and this would be acceptable to the undersigned. To clarify, this speed is per tenant, not per household.

15. Give us access to Finsbury Park

In a City the size of London, the Underground system is the quickest way to get around and we are disappointed with the Mayor's decision to shelve 22 of the 45 planned step free access projects across London only committing himself to providing step-free access at 29 per cent of all stations by 2017. This is a major step back from previous plans to provide step-free access on a third of the network by 2013. As a result, many disabled passengers, older people and parents with young children are being denied access to this mode of transport. This is particularly concerning in the run up to the 2012 Paralympics and makes us wonder how the Mayor is planning to keep his post-Beijing pledge to make London’s Games the most accessible ever.

It makes little sense that Finsbury Park, where the current 49.1m passenger journeys a year are likely to increase by 40% over the next 15 years, is not being made step-free whilst Kingsbury and Amersham, both serving less than one tenth of Finsbury Park’s passengers, are being made accessible. We believe that money would be better spend on projects in areas where a larger number of people would benefit.

The decision makes even less sense because Network is going ahead with plans to provide step-free access from the overground platforms to street level at Finsbury Park. It has now given Transport for London and the Mayor until the autumn to change their minds on working together to make Finsbury Park step-free.

These are the reasons why we (Jeremy Corbyn MP, Jennette Arnold AM, local councillors, the Islington Disability Network, Islington Mobility Forum and Transport for All) are working together to collect as many signatures to pass to the Mayor to convince him to change his mind. If you agree that Finsbury Park Underground station should be made accessible to all passengers then please sign this petition. We are aiming to hand the petition over to the Mayor in the Autumn.

Ps. Please provide your email address to ensure your signature counts!

18. Bring Back the ANALOG phone network (AMPS)

Many of you may have an OLD brick phone or Motorola bagphone hanging around the house, and must remember the days when using a phone was for talking only, and the great reception provided by these nostalgic phones.

These phones are for Talking, and talking only, no mms or mobile internet, just regular talking, what the phone was designed for. Now this is not a petition against modern phones (there great) but nothing beats being able to carry a phone around your shoulder, using a car phone(not while driving of course) or carrying a Motorola Dynatac brick.

Those were the days, until Telstra Australia had a stupid idea to turn the AMPS system off in 2000, and then the CDMA off in 2008. But with the billions they make every year, they are bound to have a old AMPS transmission tower somewhere and could reactivate just one in a major city such as Sydney.

19. Ning, Please Listen To Your Network Creators

The Ning company has made decisions recently that has alienated its Network Creators and put the hard work of its Network Creators in jeopardy.

Ning promised to give control and ownership of networks to Network Creators. If members wished to pay additional fees, that could remove all references to Ning.

To join our networks, members had to first join Ning, We accepted this; it had a similar feel to "Open Id". Ning promised us that they would never try to steal our members or try to behave as if they "owned " our networks.

Then followed a series of T.O.S. changes, closing their much-touted open API, and shutting off Network Creator access to their data, and many other ill-conceived changes.

Now Ning has decided to try and become Facebook by stealing the members that Network Creators worked hard to build. Their most recent changes would negate the hundreds, in some cases thousands of dollars that Network Creators have put into the networks.

In the process, Ning has exposed our members private information without their consent and knowledge. They conviently changed their Terms of Service before this change, but our members were not aware of this because we were not made aware.

Ning refuses to sell current network owners their member data so that they can move elsewhere. When Ning reneged on their promise to welcome adult networks and then booted adult networks, those network creators were given full access to their content. This proves that it can be done even though Ning currently claims that it can not. Ning also refuses to offer any alternatives for those unhappy with the changes other than to lose months of hard work.

To top it off, Ning has recently decided to charge astronomical support fees when they already offer little support. Support, by the way, also means listening to what your customers need.

20. Remove Robert Swartz and Save Cartoon Network

Since Mr. Swartz has been VP, Cartoon Network has lost several blocks (Toonami, Tickle U, Funny For Your Face, New Thursday Nights, Cartoon Cartoons), invested in poor-quality flash shorts (Nacho Bear, Mr. Bixby, Big Baby, Roller Squirrels, Calling Cat 22), and during a possibly profitable summer season in 2008 Swartz spent time plugging reruns of shows with less than 30 episodes each (George of the Jungle, Chowder, Flapjack, Total Drama Island, Johnny Test) in random order, lacking stability in channel’s structure.

This has sadly lead Cartoon Network to an unusual third place ranking in cable programming at the hands of Nickelodeon, Disney and their sister networks.

Since Swartz’s position, he has developed a passion for taking good ideas and turning them into desperately cheesy attempts to attract viewers. For example, at the beginning of August 2007, Fried Dynamite was developed to replace the long-running Fridays series. This was a big adjustment to many fans, but the block appeared to hold its own until it was donned the hot spot for recycled TV movies (Ace Ventura, The Mask, Operation Dumbo Drop, etc.). With all due respect to Mr. Swartz’s attempts, this has NOT been a good idea. Even if the spin-off Dynamite Action Squad has profited, lack of attention to Fried Dynamite (Including bad program choices) has led publicity to blocks created solely to provide cheap filler (Such as “Flicks” as they’ve been known by lately).

It would be insulting to say that Swartz hasn’t brought anything good to the network, because he has successfully picked up shows that were let go by Kid’s WB (Skunk Fu, Johnny Test), and has brought in some unique Cartoon Network originals such as Flapjack and Ben 10: Alien Force. But Mr. Swartz’s problem is he lacks credit to the cartoon genre. His previous credit before becoming VP for Cartoon Network was VP of original programming for the Sci-Fi network, for shows like Mythbusters and Destination: Truth.

Since taking place in Cartoon Network his ideas have fallen on deaf ears, now clawing to spin offs to popular movies (Star Wars: The Clone Wars) and yet another action-based program (Secret Saturdays) created by Porch Light Entertainment.

Finally, a gaming alternative has arrived on the Internet where anyone can find their favourite console and PCs games and play them on their computer and online. The only problem is: It's only available to users in the united States and Canada.

Does it ever occur to you that when you put GameTap on the Internet, everyone around the world using it will want to play? Where is your determination for bringing games to the masses and your foresight in this franchaise?

Not only should you bring it to other countries, but you should make a bulletin board detailing all the respective release dates and other vital information so we, the Internet community as a whole can play games just as much as the U.S.A. and Canada.

22. The Unofficial NORWiCH Network

We've waited far too long for Facebook to realise that we ARE NOT LONDON!!!
John has started an online action group to appeal Facebook's decision, and 11,956 members have already joined.

Norwich was the eighth most prosperous shopping destination in the UK in 2006

In November 2006 the city was voted the greenest in the UK

129500 (2006 est) people live in the Norwich City Council area. Norwich is the fourth most densely populated Local Authority District within the East of England

Norwich is sometimes portrayed in the UK media as a place which is remote, unsophisticated, gauche, and out-of-step with national trends. This is perhaps primarily due to its geographical isolation, and an identification of Norwich as the epitome of Norfolk, a largely rural county. However, Norwich was the second city of England (after London) for several centuries before industrialisation, which came late to Norwich due to its isolation.

Katie is confident the website will include Derby if enough people join the cause. The key to her campaign's popularity could come down to the competition between cities in the East Midlands.

Derby was most likely overlooked because of its smaller population, but recent redevelopment in Derby makes it worthy of a place alongside Nottingham and Leicester.

26. Campaign for UK County Networks on Face Book

This group is a petition to Facebook to Create Proper UK County Networks.
http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=21146759416

In doing so, FB will finally be recognizing the UK as a nation (we are currently listed as Great Britain).

At the moment, USA and Canada have State Networks, with major towns associated with each network. Yet in our list, there is one county listed (West Midlands) and (apart from Wales) the rest are a few cities. There is no Network for England or Scotland and poor old Northern Ireland has been relegated to 'networks elsewhere'.

It is a big mess and, despite being continuously asked to sort it out, Facebook has left it that way for several years.

29. Bring Billy and Mandy Back

Ok, so now Billy and Mandy is no longer having episode been made. Maxwell Atoms is into making a new show Underfist.

And, why, oh why, finish off a popular cartoon and start something off with minor characters? I mean, half the people I know LOATHE Fred FredBurger.

Billy and Mandy were doing so good. Can't you just give it another couple of seasons, a year or 2? I mean, what about the fans? Sure, Grim, Billy and Mandy are going to appear a little in Underfist, but I thought it was them who helped make the show cool? Not Fred Fredburger, Hoss Delgado, Jeff the Spider, Skarr and Irwin. I'm saddened by this. Why, for all reasons in the world, do you stop the show?

I don't know who is the person to fault, whether cartoon network CHOSE to finish off Billy and Mandy, whether it was Maxwell Atoms the creator, or anyone else in particular, I'm slightly appalled. I know this is only a small matter, and most likely wouldn't go far, but please, signing this would perhaps at least go somewhere. Thank you.

P.S, I have to say that Wrath of the Spider Queen was perhaps the worst way to end a series. It was against all the other background fact, and ended nowhere.

P.S.S, sorry if I missed some fact, and didn't notice something that would have something to do with a reason to cancellation etc.
