1. Bring Shortland Street to the BBC
The British viewing public was robbed of its daily fix of the wonderful New Zealand soap 'Shortland Street' when ITV cancelled it in favour of the dreadful 'Crossroads', which died a pitiful death after a couple of seasons.
Now that the BBC have decided to give up 'Neighbours' from Spring 2008, it is an ideal opportunity to replace it with 'Shortland Street'
2. Show Neighbours four times a day in Iceland!
Neigbours is only shown two times a day in Iceland and that's just not Enough, we Neighbours fans are always in school when it is shown around midday and then we just get to see it one time a day and just five times on Sundays
Neighbours should be on 10 times on Sundays and 4 times on regular time.
The BBC have pulled out of negotiations to renew the contract to continue showing Neighbours.
WHY?
Freemantle wanted £300 million for 8 years.
So now the show will be shown on ITV or Five.
Please help make Freemantle listen to our views.
Neighbours has been shown on the BBC since it started in the 1980s. It has over 7 million viewers and is an audience pleaser for everyone from students to pensioners.
Update 18/05/07
Ladies and Gentlemen, it is with great saddness I bring you the devasting news that The BBC have pulled out of negotiations.
YES THAT'S RIGHT. AFTER SPRING NEXT, NEIGHBOURS WILL NO LONGER BE SHOWN ON THE BBC.
'GREEDY' Freemantle wanted £300 million for 8 years.
This petition to save Neighbours will no longer be worthwhile BUT
I will start a new petition which will be called FREEMANTLE, THANK YOU. Please read it and sign it. You can guess what I will be saying.
N.B.
Thank you to all those people who have signed and supported this petition.

Original Background:
Neighbours has been shown on the BBC since it started in the 1980s. It has over 7 million viewers and is an audience pleaser for everyone from students to pensioners.
The BBC are trying to renew their rights to continue broadcasting the show but face competition from ITV.
ITV have offered more money than the BBC (4 times more per episode) and if rumours are to be belived, they are close to 'stealing' Neighbours from the BBC.
This cannot happen.
Neighbours needs to stay at the BBC and I need your help.
5. Stop the Artificial Wetland
July 26, 2006
The floodplain adjacent to brentwood crescent has been maintained as a recreational facility for the residents of Belmont by the neighbours adjacent to the floodplain for the past 18 years with the knowledge and permission of KCCA and Municipality of Central Elgin.
In fact, the neighbours have planted over 100 trees to naturalize and beautify the area at their own cost.
This year, KCCA and Central Elgin decided to "naturalize the area" to include adding a perimeter fence, trees and an artificial wetland. Correspondance with the brentwood neighbours has been adversarial.
The floodplain is no longer usable for recreational activities.
6. Neighbours Omnibus Campaign
A 'Neighbours' omnibus on Sunday mornings would massively increase young people's satisfaction with the BBC.
Our generation have grown up with the Robinsons, Kennedys, Ramsays and others. But, alas, we are now moving out of education and into the workplace. (It is disturbing to discover that most companies are unwilling to give employees a break at 1.40 or 5.35)
There is only one answer: A Neighbours omnibus at the weekend, to catch up on all the week's Ramsay Street action. Eastenders gets one, and it's crap. So why isn't there a Neighbours one? There is a huge amount of unused digital bandwidth on BBC THREE and BBC FOUR - neither has any programmes before 7pm on a Sunday. Neighbours could fill that gap, at minimum cost, and make millions of young people happy.
Sign our petition, and make it happen. Because everybody needs good neighbours.
7. Bring Back Serena and Liljana Bishop to Neighbours
Feb 01, 2006
The extended Bishop family of David, Liljana and Serena arrived in Ramsay Street, the home of the soap opera Neighbours, in 2003.
They quickly found a place in the viewers' hearts, with their compelling storylines and believable family dynamic.
Despite their popularity, they were shockingly axed and departed from Australian screens in late 2005. This was met with great disappointment by many of the show's dedicated fans, who were understandably upset.
Many of the Ramsay Street residents were on board a joy flight to Tasmania. A bomb exploded, causing the plane to make an emergency landing in the Bass Strait. Tragically, David's body was recovered. However, Serena and Lil were never found.
Although it may be too late to save David, it is hoped that one day Serena and Lil may return to Ramsay Street.
This petition aims to Bring Back Serena and Liljana Bishop to Erinsborough.
This petition was started on the evening of 9th May 2005, after Digitalspy.co.uk revealed that David and Lil are going to be axed from Neighbours.
The forums instantly became full of people who were annoyed at the axeing. Family life is an integral part of Neighbours, and the Bishops are a faveourite, now that the Scully / Kenneday / Robinson clan have now departed.
David and Lil are very popular charactors, with plenty of chemistry. It is essential that they are saved.
9. Bring back Joe Scully to Neighbours!
We, Neighbours fans of the world, are extremely upset about the sacking of Shane Connor, and the subsequent removal of his character, Joe Scully from the show. We would like to see him brought back to the show as soon as possible and an apology issued to Shane and the fans.
10. Bring back episodes of Neighbours from the early 1990s
At present Network Ten Australia repeat Neighbours from the early 1990s.
On the erinsborough.com message board there are lots of discussions about these episodes and there are lots of exciting storylines comming up but if any channel in the UK repeats the show from the beginning then it will be years before it gets to this stage.
So if you want to see Neighbours but not right from the beginning then sign this.
