Needham Trees is a community group organized to protest the clear cutting of trees along the NSTAR transmission line.
We do not oppose NSTAR’s right to maintain the transmission line. We rely on NSTAR to ensure a steady power supply for all of our homes and businesses.
We do oppose the abrupt change in their management practices being employed by NSTAR.
For 48 years this transmission line have been managed through a system of trimming and tree removal only when it was necessary and only after communication with the abutter on the affected properties.
At no point has there been a power outage resulting from a tree hitting a transmission line. We have asked for information on the number of instances from NSTAR and to date they have not provided one.
Lacking any information that this is actually related to service we conclude that this change has more to do with the economics of maintaining their transmission and distribution lines at the lowest possible cost regardless of the impact on the neighbors.
This petition is a request for the judge to.... sentence Michelle Bragg to 5 yrs probation instead of the recommended jail term for her crime. She has 5 tickets in the last 5 yrs. If she receives another one then her probation is revoked and she does her jail time. We also would like her to do her community service.
We ask this in order for her to start paying attention to her driving and realize the man she hurt might still be alive. She took away a man, a husband, a father, a son, and a friend.
3. Requesting Theresa May's Resignation from the Post of Equalities Minister
In the new Conservative-Liberal Democrat cabinet Theresa May has been appointed as Minister for Women and Equality.
Prior to this appointment her voting record on gay rights has included:
- Voting against further discussion on the repeal of section 28, preferring to let it stand;
- Voting against lowering the age of consent in homosexual relationships to 16;
- Voting against gay adoption rights; as well as numerous other votes that have offended both homosexual and heterosexual communities. For these reasons we do not feel she is appropriate for the post of Minister for Equality.
We would like to make it clear that this campaign is not politically motivated, and is in no way a campaign against any political party.
Furthermore it is campaigning only for Theresa May's removal from this specific post, and not from any other position that she holds.
