The Watney cup was a classic English football tournament held in the early 1970s, involving some of the highest scoring teams in the top 4 divisions.
It saw the first ever penalty shootout in England, with George Best taking the first kick, was one of Brian Clough's first honours as a manager, and produced the finest moment of Stoke City's illustrious history when they lifted the last ever Watney cup in 1973.
Stretford-End.com are campaigning to Manchester United FC to refrain from using the green and gold colours on their kits until the Glazers have relinquished or otherwise cease controlling the club.
The campaign is also to signify the supporters desire to restore green and gold to the clubs official away colours after the Glazers' time at the club has ended.
Thanks to ManUtd24.wordpress.com for supporting the campaign.
3. Every single one of us, love Sir Alex Ferguson
Sir Alex Ferguson, Manchester United manager for 23 years, and the most successful manager in British football, has been targeted in what can only be described as a biased attack, by the General Secretary of Prospect, Alan Leighton, to be kicked out of football after comments Sir Alex made regarding referee Alan Wiley during the Sunderland match.
Sir Alex stated that he felt Wiley was unfit to referee at Premier League level, and for those who witnessed Mr Wiley's performance, would have to agree. It appears that Leighton forgets that football is a game full of opinions. And it also appears that Leighton is nothing more than a self-absorbed, fame hungry ABU.
Sir Alex was awarded a Knighthood for his services to football, and it's disappointing that someone who has given so much to the game can be treated with such a public and extremely biased approach, which is totally unfounded.
4. David Gill to resign from FA
Manchester United have had favourable punishments from the FA due to their Chief Executive being on the board. They have continuously got away with a telling off for incidents which other clubs and players have been fined or punished heavily for.
5. Let Darren Fletcher play in the Champions League Final
Darren Fletcher was sent off wrongly against Arsenal on the 2nd leg of the Semi Final of the Champions League on the 05/05/09 after making a brilliant challenge to deny Arsenal a goal. He clearly got the ball and diverted it but the Referee still sent him off. The referee had a bad game.
Replays will confirm this.
6. Ryan Giggs should be awarded a Knighthood
The editors of MustBeRed are campaigning to have Ryan Giggs knighted. Hazel Blears MP (Lab) and Chris Grayling MP (Con) have given their support to the campaign.
Here are the 11 reasons why he deserves the honour:
1 Giggs is the most decorated player in English footballing history.
2 He is the only player to have played and scored in every Premiership season.
3 He has scored more than 100 league goals.
4 That FA Cup wonder goal against Arsenal.
5 Giggs has played more games for Man Utd than any other player.
6 The youngest footballer to have represented Wales.
7 Capped 64 times for Wales, and was made the team's captain.
8 A clean player who has NEVER been red-carded for Man Utd.
9 A role-model family man who has never been in the papers for the wrong reasons.
10 A fundraiser for charity and a campaigner against landmines and racism.
11 Admired by players and managers as the Premiership's "Best".
7. Big Screens In Manchester For The Champions League Final
The petition is for the right for all Manchester United fans to watch the 2008 UEFA Champions League Final on big screens in Manchester. As of today the Manchester City Council has said there will be no screens up on the 21st May for us fans. This is all because of a small minority of Glasgow Rangers fans who started a riot in Manchester on the 14th May 2008 for the UEFA Cup Final.
Their reason for doing this is because one of the many screens across the city stopped working. This is no excuse for violence but it is also no excuse for the council to punish the people of its own city. Do the council actually think that on May 21st if the screen fails again that the people of its own city will trash it?
Please sign this petition to get the council to put up the screens for us. It is reported that thousands of fans from all over England and Ireland are coming to Manchester for the final but now have nowhere to watch it. All pubs are charging to get in and have sold out of tickets so many people are going to be left disappointed and are going to struggle to find somewhere to see the match.
The people of Manchester are being punished for something people from another country have done to our city. Big screens are being put up in London for Chelsea fans who are going to enjoy a great atmosphere with fellow supporters, whereas in Manchester they're doing nothing other than leaving fans with nowhere to watch the game.
This is part of the statement concerning Manchester United fans the council made after the riots in Manchester following the UEFA Cup Final.
"We're going to have to disappoint a lot of Manchester United fans and we're sorry to disappoint them," said council leader Sir Richard Leese.
"But our view, the council and the police, is that it would be unacceptable to city centre residents, businesses and other users of the city centre to have big screens next week after what happened last night."
This petition is to give Wayne Rooney an award.
His conturbition to football has been amazing, also he has helped England and Manchester United to glory. His commitment has been amazing!
