121. Local Volunteer Firefighters Should Carry Their Gear
A Community Member Petition.
We, The People Of Local 214 wish to have a vote to replace our current Union Steward Richard Jones due to lack of Stewardship.
123. Close the Yesteryear Flea Market
Acworth, Georgia - Cobb County.
This petition is being initiated on Tuesday, October 12, 2004 to urge our County Commissioner to close down the Yesteryear flea market. If you are from Cobb County, Paulding County, or Bartow County, I invite you to sign this petition to help keep our local traffic down and protect our neighborhoods.
This petition is initiated to close the Yesteryear flea Market on the corner of Highway 41 and Dallas Acworth Highway in Cobb County Georgia. This flea market has been generating an extreme amount of traffic and backups since the larger Highway 41 flea market closed and the vendors moved to the Yesteryear flea market that the local area cannot support.
The flea market does not have adequete parking for all its visitors. Visitors to the flea market are using residential neighborhoods and U-turn areas with no regard to families and children in those neighborhoods.
Visitors to the flea market are using personal driveways to turn around in and driving above the neighborhood speed limit of 25MPH. Due to this influx of traffic from the flea market, we as residents of the surrounding neighborhoods have had to restrict our children from playing outside and riding bikes in the neighborhood. In addition, it is extremely difficult to get in and out of our neighborhoods due to the increased traffic.
Finally, this property has become a major eye sore and makes the area look bad and decreasing the value of surrounding properties.
124. End Public Law Violation Notification
This petition has been designed to require Public Safety and local law enforcement to end reports of law violations to local media.
125. SAVE THE QUEEN'S LANCASHIRE REGIMENT
Save The Queen's Lancashire Regiment....
Whitehall is trying to force on us the worst and most ill-conveived changes in
the long history of the British Infantry. If this miserable effort is allowed to succeed..
LANCASHIRE WILL LOSE ITS ONLY COUNTY REGIMENT AND THE DEFENCE OF THIS REALM WILL BE IRREVOCABLY DAMAGED...
The British Infantry Regimental System, which has been developed and refined for over three hundred years, relies on fierce local loyalties and inherited traditions to produce closely-knit fighting teams of battle-proven effectiveness. The same strong local character of these Family Regiments is the basis of their appeal to recruits. Our incomparable Infantry regiments are envied and emulated the world over, and set the standards for the whole Army. The Regimental System works consistently well today and, being infinitely
flexible, can adapt with ease to any future challenges.
Whitehall now proposes to destroy this outstanding successful system by forcing regiments like the Queens Lancashires to merge into large characterless regional units, thereby losing long-standing and carefully nurtured links with local communities which sustain both recruiting and high morale. Rather than tearing the pulsating heart out of our Army, defence planners would be well advised to reinforce a great British success.
We demand that the government keeps its hands off our local regiments, and The Queens Lancashire Regiment in particular, and abandons this foolish plan which gambles recklessly with the backbone of Britain's security.....
126. Stop the closure of local jobcentres in Lanarkshire
The closure of the majority of jobcentre offices in Lanarkshire means job seekers and those claiming benefits will have to travel at their own expense to other areas to attend these offices. Offices to close include Carluke, Wishaw, Shotts, Larkhall - rearragments of offices also means that those in the more rural areas of Lanarkshire not served by good travel links will suffer.
DWP staff have no secure job prospects as a result and communities will lose a vital link to local and national govermental departmental changes.
127. Children's Choir Should Sing National Anthem at Every Nascar Race
This petition is designed to go to Nascar for a local children's choir to sing the National Anthem at every Nacsar race.

We the businesses & people of Akron will not purchase Anheuser-Busch products until Akron Jobs are saved.
130. Police Checks and Bans on Paedophiles Applying for Access to Freightforwarding Industry
Paedophiles are known to be able to access two significant and extensive points of communication that cross local and international boundaries. That is, Freight Forwarding and Ham Radio. These two points of communication provide paedophiles with largely uncontrolled open slather to individuals including information of families business personnel credit card details private home data [dates of birth home addresses and telephone numbers family members number of children where schooled private interests et al] as well as Shipping and Trucking data including access to Customs and Government.
Not realising the dangers of a paedophile in the Freightforwarding business it is open slather for the paedophile as is access to and use of Ham Radio that reaches innocent people with children throughout the world as well as locally in Australia.
I call for Police checks and Bans on paedophiles in these areas vital to human existence, movement and well-being.
131. Help Get a Skatepark for Harleysville Kids
Hello. I am a resident of Harleysville, PA. This petition is directed in the direction of kids everywhere, skateboarders, and people fed up with the annoying sound of skating, rollerblading, or biking and the crowds that come with these sports.
I would like to propose a skatepark be built in Harleysville in order to keep skaters from damaging local property. It would also help to keep local authorities focused on crimes and more important things rather then just trying to bust the skateboarders in my town. I believe it will be a free public park for the people, by the people, and a skate at your own risk establishment. Money can and will be raised at local stores, in schools, and also from donations. Materials and labor will also somewhat be handled by donation as well as funding.
If you are a skateboarder or would like to help give us kids somewhere to go without getting fined, arrested, or yelled at, please sign this petition.
132. Stop the Wal-Mart Supercenter
*Wal-Mart is planning to upgrade its Miles City location to a Supercenter, which adds groceries to its product line.
*The population of greater Miles City is comprised of roughly 11,000 persons and is forecast to contract due to out-migration during the next ten years.
*There are already three large grocery stores currently serving the greater Miles City area.
*Therefore, the addition of a Wal-Mart Supercenter to our market would likely decrease the market share of each of the existing grocery stores to critical levels and would put at least one regional grocery store out-of-business.
*When Wal-Mart moved its discount store to Miles City, several locally-owned independent retail stores were closed within months as a result of Wal-Mart's predatory pricing.
*Wal-Mart is the world's largest retailer and second-largest corporation with annual revenue exceeding $245 billion, which equals the gross domestic product of five northern European nations.
*Wal-Mart controls 25-30% of the sales of consumer products in all categories.
*On average, Wal-Mart sales clerks earn $13,861 per year. The poverty line in the U.S. is $14,630 for a family of three.
*Wal-Mart is being sued by 1.6 million former female employees for systematically denying women equal pay and opportunities for promotion.
*Wal-Mart purchased $12 billion worth of Chinese goods in 2002, representing 10% of all U.S. imports from China.
*For each Wal-Mart employee hired in Miles City, it is estimated that seven jobs are lost from locally-owned businesses.
133. Council Tax Costs across Berkshire
I like many people am passionate when it comes to Government fees and cost. Council Tax mainly. I want to raise a petition for everyone who lives under the RG postcode. If, like news articles report, the current Council tax is due to rise by up to 18% I want to bring people together in giving our personal opinions on the alleged rise in the current rates. There is lots of press coverage across the whole United Kingdom regarding the Council Tax issue.
I do not feel that I get "value for money" when it comes to Council Tax charges. I live in the RG31 (Tilehurst, Reading area) and am appalled by my current charges without even viewing the final upcoming raise to our current charges. If the Council could guarantee that ALL services that we pay for are honored, as they should then, I, for one would be less "discussed" of the charges for service. However, the only service I can honestly say I receive for my money is getting my bins emptied once a week. The Policing is poor; the streets are dirty, littered with waste and "rubbish". We have our grass verges cut three times a year if were lucky. The roads are generally in a poor conditionÂ…. I could go on.
I am asking you all, the people of Berkshire to sign this petition which will be passed on to our local government representative with a covering letter asking for their comments.
Many people in other parts of the United Kingdom are standing up for what they believe and refusing to pay the proposed increase which is due soon. We as a community NEED TO PULL TOGETHER to stand side by side with others and make sure our voices are heard before this country/county forces itself into a situation that will mirror the problems of late similar to the Poll Tax debate and make our living conditions further more difficult than they already are.
If you, as a resident of Berkshire agree or have your own personal view on Council Tax Costs then PLEASE SIGN THIS PETITION. A copy of this will be forwarded to all the local newspapers which cover Berkshire in hope of keeping our County as it should and in favour of us, the people. Many people are finding it difficult to afford the current living costs within Berkshire as it is.
Let's not worsen the situation?
Thank you for you time.

134. Citizens' control over residential Zoning
Residential and commercial building has been plagued with a problem. Corporations and the government are not consulting with the residents and citizens before building such things as Nuclear Power Plants, raw Sewage plants, and highways righ on the front door of our homes. This petition is for the approval of a law that would make it possible to allow the local residents of whatever is being built vote and give feedback to the building comittee on how they feel about the specific building.
135. McCoy Road should be maintained by Portage County
McCoy Road, located West off Industry Road near the intersection of State Route 224 in Atwater, Ohio has been declared a State Route. It is currently maintained by the Ohio Department of Transportation. The condition of the road is poor. Snow removal by ODOT is nearly nonexistent. Residents of McCoy Road have taken the responsibility of snow removal upon themselves to be able to enter and exit their homes. It has know come to the point where children attending the local school district, Waterloo, have been denied transportation due to the poor conditions of the road. Therefore, resulting in the distribution of this petition.
136. Warwick Resolution to Protect Civil Liberties
Help us to ensure that the town of Warwick, NY is next on the list of cities, towns, counties & states to pass a resolution to protect the civil liberties of their residents!
The USA PATRIOT Act, passed by Congress in the wake of 9/11 terrorist attacks, grants powers to law enforcement and intelligence gathering authoriites that can and are being used to undermine and otherwise violate the US Constitution.
On Aug. 14, 7:30, we present a petition to the Warwick Town Board requesting passage of a resolution against provisions of the Act which are a direct threat to our liberties. Please join us!

138. Keep ABC 33/40 in Birmingham, AL
We in Birmingham and the surrounding area are writing the petition to keep our local ABC 33/40 Birmingham, AL station on Dishnetwork. We in these said areas depend on this station for our local weather and news. Especially during times of dangeroys weather seasons. Thank your for your consideration.
139. Save the lions left high and dry at Sattur, TamilNadu, South India
Four lions are left high and dry by a circus company at Sattur, TamilNadu, South India. This incident has appeared in local newspapers. No action has been taken for the past four months. The lions are living in small cages. They don't get enough water and food and they are semi starved condition. If left so in the summer months, they would definitely die. Please take immediate steps to leave the lions in a national park or a zoo.

140. Ban the use of gas chambers in North Carolina Pounds
Killing With Kindness Campaign.
Dogs and cats that are taken to the pound in hopes of finding a new home are more likely to end up being put to death in a gas chamber, a cruel and outdated method of killing. Our shelter uses carbon monoxide poisoning as the primary method of destroying animals. The other more humane killing method, a sodium pentobarbital injection, is reserved for animals too sick, too young, too pregnant, or too injured to be effectively destroyed in the gas chamber. Less than 1% of the humane society shelters in the nation use this cruel and out-dated method and California, Florida, and Tennessee have prohibited its use on companion animals all together. Why then is it the main killing method at the Craven/Pamlico Animal Services Center in Craven County?
As long as it is deemed necessary to kill these unfortunate animals, the very least we can do is provide them with a more gentle way of dying. In an act of compassion, Pals for Paws is launching a "Killing With Kindness" campaign to stop the inhumane killing.
The fact that this is a horrific death and that these animals die in fear is well documented. When multiple animals are placed in a chamber at the same time and are gassed together, they injure themselves and each other in their terror. A crescendo of their mournful wails can be heard for up to 45 seconds. The last few moments of their lives are spent in a desperate attempt to get away from the deadly gas. After the allotted time, what is left is a pile of dead animals covered in feces and urine whose carcasses are then removed to provide space for the next batch.
A method of killing by lethal injection is much kinder to the animal. This takes two people. One person holds the animal while the other gently slips a needle into a vein. The collapse of the animal is almost instantaneous as the syringe is emptied. The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and the American Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) recommend an injection of sodium pentobarbital as the preferred method of euthanasia. When performed properly, this has been found to be the most humane, safest, least stressful and most rapid method of euthanasia of dogs and cats without causing fear and distress in the animals.
The "Killing With Kindness" campaign is a grassroots campaign being conducted by animal welfare and animal rights groups through out the nation and sponsored locally by Pals for Paws. This is your campaign-the taxpayers-for it is your taxes that fund the local shelter and your voice that can effect a change in the existing system. Whether this campaign lives or dies, whether companion animals die cruelly or compassionately will depend on your involvement.
We hope that every animal related individual or group in the area will support and participate with us in our efforts to urge our shelter to purge the use of the gas chamber as so many others in the country have done. We have prepared a petition to present to our local and state legislatures to make a federal law a reality to stop this method of killing. We hope that this campaign will set an example of how people can come together for the animals in our care. Please add your voice to ours by signing our petition and please promote and support every animal adoption resource so that we can put an end to the killing. Our shelter is killing over 5,000 animals a year. Sadly, most of these animals were healthy and would have made wonderful pets.
141. Drag Strip/Speedway In The GTA
Hey All,
I recently went to a local police meeting on May 22nd 2002. They were discussing the amount of street racing that happens in the GTA. They say that in the GTA area alone there is about 20,000 modified cars (this number does not include the amount of the older hot rods of the earlier decades). The persons that attended this meeting owned at least 1 if not svereal modified cars.
When all the talking was done the officers and the people talked about certain issues and 1 of theses issues was concerning a local dragway/speedway.
We all came to the conclusion that the government is not really gonna consider sponsoring such a thing so here I am bringing all of this forward to all of the people. I am hoping that this petition will spark really well. Who know's maybe some things can happen like someone actually putting up a speedway.
Also one more quick note. The GTA holds some of the biggest car shows in North America. As an Import Street enthusiast I would love to see all of these cars show their stuff but I would rather see it done in a smart way Boys/Girls.
So stay off the streets if your gonna decide to race cuz all your doing is putting people's lives at risk. Your's and the people surrounding that local area. Thank You For Your Time.
142. Provide Water to Burts Road
The residents of Burts Road would like for the county to provide water to their area. There are seven houses on Burts Road and five of the homes use well water which may not be safe. Also, there are no fire hydrants on Burts Road which places the homes in danger in case of a fire.
143. Allow EchoStar DirectTV Merger
I am writing to you today as a current satellite TV subscriber who would like to add my voice of support to the pending merger of EchoStar and DIRECTV. The combination of these two satellite providers will provide numerous benefits to consumers like me, including more choices in channels, programming, broadband and new television technologies.
By merging, the combined company will be a much stronger competitor to cable television and can offer more programming choices and, most importantly, all local TV channels in every market in the U.S. By providing local TV channels everywhere, this merger will make satellite television a strong alternative to cable in our community. Throughout the country, people will now be able to turn to satellite TV to access their local news, weather and community information, in addition to a comprehensive package of national video programming. But just as exciting, the merger will bring the availability of affordable high-speed Internet service by satellite to over 40 million Americans who don't have high-speed Internet access. These tremendous benefits to consumers won't happen without the merger. Satellite-delivered Internet service will bring an affordable and competitive alternative to cable modems and DSL to consumers in big cities, small towns and rural areas alike. This will give me a competitive choice for Internet access and will be especially advantageous to rural communities where cable modems and DSL are not likely to be available anytime in the near future.
In the interest of improving our access to competitive television and Internet service, I urge you to lend your support to this merger.
144. Help singer, Danielle Smith, succeed!
Hi, my name is Michelle. A closest friend of mine, Danielle, is a singer. She writes music, dances, and performs. She's also co-producing her own CD due out soon! Please sign this petition. By signing this you are helping a very (and multi) talented young female achieve her dream of being a singer. Some of her goals are to win a Grammy and Video Music Award. This girl performs at many local and non-local clubs. She's also in a girl trio - Sexified. Thanks.
145. Keep the Pledge of Allegiance!
The words "under God" were added to the Pledge of Allegiance in 1954 to show
the world the stark contrast between the United States of America and the
Communist regime. The words were added because the United States is truly
a nation under God. Our country was built on the principles and foundations
of the Judeo-Christian faith. The men who created our government were men
of strong faith. In establishing this country, they understood the inherent
rights that God, their Creator, gave to all men. The Declaration of
Independence states that certain truths are self-evident. These truths are
"that all men were created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator
with certain unalienable rights . . . ." The Declaration states very boldly
that the United States of America were appealing to the "Supreme Judge" and
that they had a "firm reliance on Divine Providence."
Why is it that a majority of Americans can grasp this concept but that men
educated in the law of this country, the very law stemming from these
principles, cannot? Throughout our history, this country has turned to
Almighty God, our Creator, for guidance and comfort in times of struggle.
In 1775, the Continental Congress called on the Colonies to pray for wisdom in
forming this great nation. At the close of the War for Independence, George
Washington directed his chaplain to offer a prayer of thanksgiving. In 1863
President Lincoln declared a day of humiliation, fasting and prayer. When
Pearl Harbor was attacked the President called on the country to pray.
During the years following World War II when this country was fighting the
Cold War, "In God we Trust" was adopted as our national motto. When Apollo
13 was disabled in space the President called on the country to pray. In
1988 President Reagan signed a bill declaring a National Day of Prayer. In
Desert Storm every soldier received a copy of the 91st Psalm. President Clinton called on this country to pray when the tragedy at Columbine Highschool occurred. And on September 11, 2001, this country experienced a tragedy that was unlike anything we had seen since Pearl Harbor and it was to God that this country turned. President Bush called on people across this nation to pray, a memorial service was televised across the country including many prayers, and many members of Congress, Republicans and Democrats alike, gathered on the steps of the capitol building to sing, "God Bless America."
But on June 26, 2002, a majority of two judges decided that we are no longer
"one Nation under God." This court action is an outrage. It flies in
the face of our national history and traditions.
146. Legalization of Herps in Singapore
We are trying to form a Herpetological Society in Singapore and trying to legalize herps in Singapore. But we're faced with an uphill task of convincing our local authorities that many herps are harmless to human as well as to the environment. We're trying to convince them that by legalizing herps we're contributing to conservation as captive breeding will be done to ensure their population in the world as well as educate the public on herps and dispell any misperception or myths they've about herps.
Planet Radio 93.3 has recently canceled their Native Noise program in Jacksonville, FL, which would play all local music on the radio for two hours on a Sunday night. They have recently cancelled the program and have no intentions on bringing it back in the future. This could greatly affect the local music scene here in Jacksonville.
Without the support of a two hour show on the radio anymore, all the bands that are starting out in Jacksonville are going to suffer from a substantial lack of exposure. So to try and prevent the scene here from going down the tubes and drying up. If you could show your support for local music and sign this petition, the local music, here in Jacksonville, would be very grateful, as well as the fans that support local music.
148. Support Slow Growth For Leesburg--No Leesburg Annexation
The Leesburg Town Council has proposed an Annexation Plan which will almost double the area of the town, and could allow 6.5 times more commercial space than is currently built in Leesburg.
It will promote rampant overdevelopment, increased population, more cars, congestion and pollution. The Town will lose its istoric character and the natural environment will suffer great losses. Quality of life for residents will go down.
Though the Town has claimed that the annexation plan offers many benefits, such as increased revenues and new roads, these claims are based on misguided expectations, and myths.
The Town Council's economic projections for annexation are based on commercial development equal to half of Tyson's Corner. This would increase residential growth pressure, and result in higher taxes.
More town-controlled land won't lure high tech offices to Leesburg, but it is likely to scatter commercial development and contribute to further transportation problems.
Added neighborhoods will pay added Town taxes, with a questionable increase in services.
New roads don't solve congestion problems, but instead lead to more development and new congestion. The Town will have to convert rural land to suburban development so that developer money can build a new outer Bypass built. Instead, the existing Bypass needs to be fixed to work properly.
Most importantly, the Town's Annexation Plan contradicts what local residents want--slower growth. Annexation will increase growth pressures as land speculators look for profits.
The Loudoun County Board of Supervisors has been actively working to respond to local citizens' call for slower growth. This Plan is designed to overturn those efforts in the Leesburg area.
If you support slower growth in Loudoun and Leesburg, please sign this petition.
149. EWTN broadcast
This petition is to request that Charter Cable reinstate broadcast of EWTN Global Catholic Network to the Catholic community in the Greenville, South Carolina region. When Charter Cable merged their Anderson area and Greenville area services, they changed all programming to the Greenville, SC programming already in place. The EWTN programs were deleted from the new schedule.
Charter has stated that they will not re-instate EWTN programming without a petition for same from local Catholics. This programming is FREE OF CHARGE to Charter, but will not be re-instated unless a demand can be shown from the local Catholic community.
Thank you!
150. "Pay off your Debt. Sell us a Forest!"
As an answer to many countries' debt problem and as a means of saving natural resources, especially tropical forests which affect global warming and weather patterns, the US government came up with a novel concept. The nature swap through the Tropical Forest Conservation Act of 1998 (TFCA) - to exchange the debt of forest-rich countries for conservation mechanisms designed to protect the forests.
The Act, according to a US Embassy press release will allow developing countries to shed their debt burden, while helping them to preserve natural forests. In consultation with the US government the debtor country can set up a fund or board consisting of local NGO representatives to preserve tropical forests. The value of debt will be converted to local currency and programs initiated by the board will be paid in local value.
According to them Sri Lanka's most pristine forests- the Sinharaja rainforest, Peak Wilderness, Namunukula forest and the Knuckles forest range are in danger under the debt recovery act and Sinharaja forest will be the main victim.
The United States and Japan have already taken 45 patent rights for medicinal plants in Sri Lanka. There may be hundreds of such indigenous properties in our tropical forests which will be the future of our financial stability. Under this, we fear that, it will pave the way for uncontrolled exploitation of these assets.
Meanwhile the Ministry of Forestry and Environment in Sri Lanka appointed a committee to look into the TFCA, counteracting the speculations of selling off the virgin forests to United States to offset national debt. There are remarkable similarities between the wording of the US Act and the intentions of the donor agencies as outlined in the ADB Report. At first glance it all seems ideally suited to countries such as Sri Lanka which have high international debts, and yet require funding to maintain its rich biodiversity. However, on close scrutiny, questions arise as to the intent motivating such apparent generosity. After all it is ironic that the United States is so concerned about the environmental well-being of the rest of the world that it refuses to sign the Kyoto Convention on controlling carbon dioxide emissions despite being the creator of the largest volume of these emissions!
So, do not allow capital countries to exploit poor countries' natural forests, full of genetic assets. We all should oppose it.
