1. Sanctioned D.I.Y. Skate Spots Cincinnati Ohio
According to section 506-3 of Cincinnati's Municipal Code, "no person shall ride a skateboard on any street, highway within the area bounded by Second Street, Elm Street, Central Avenue and Mehring Way" nor "skateboard on sidewalks where the buildings abut the paved portion of the sidewalks."
The main concern of the city is that property is being torn apart at the hands of skateboarders.
We argue that skateboarding is something that needs to be embraced not deemed illegal. Skateboarders aren't out to destroy the city. Skateboarding has always found itself in cities using certain architectural designs to express who they are.
We understand that certain property is being torn up by skateboarding. However working with the community of skateboarders could be beneficial. In cities all over the United States skateboarders are working with local governments to solve these issues.
2. Legalize Steroids in Sports
Since the 1960s, crackdowns for performance enhancing drugs at the level of elite athletics (Olympics, Baseball, Cycling, etc.) have been steadily increasing. However, so too have the reported cases of steroid abuse.
For every athlete who is condemned for performance enhancing drug abuse, countless unknown others stand in the shadows and continue their illicit drug regimen. This problem is endemic to the sports community, and will continue inevitably. We propose that instead of condemning sports heroes for training and chemically enhancing their bodies for the new standard of elite athleticism and competition, we legalize and regulate these drugs, thus ushering in the next level of elite athleticism. This approach would not only cut down on abuse and encourage healthy regimens, but would greatly increase fans' morale and promote a more honest discourse between the sports community and the general public.
Already we have enhanced the physical nature of training, to the point of having multi-million dollar equipment for the most advanced athletes. Chemical enhancement is the next logical step in our progression for a finer tuned athlete. The future of sports WILL be steroid fueled. Embrace the revolution!
3. Support recreational cannabis use!
Cannabis has been outlawed for too long, for the wrong reasons.
Other countries around us have grown out of this prohibition, the failed drug war shows us this.
Please help us legalize this for recreational use.
We need to legalize Marijuana at the federal level.
Several polls since 2003 have found that a majority of Canadians agreed with the statement, "The use of marijuana should be legalized", including one in 2009 done by Angus Reid, with 53% for legalization.
The latest being in 2012 by Forum Research Inc. which suggested "66% of Canadians are in favour of the legalization or decriminalization of marijuana, with just 20% supporting leaving the laws as they are now."
5. Restoration of Man's Natural Right to Sow Seed, Reap Fruit
It is both unconscionable and unconstitutional for any Government founded upon Natural Law to make illegal the cultivation, trade or sale of any Natural Plant.
Throughout history it has been Man's Right to reap the fruit of his choosing to best provide for his needs and the wants of a free market.
Until the mid twentieth century it had been Government's Right to collect taxes upon the distribution of Natural Plant products. The overbearing laws of the last century have made criminals of those seeking to provide for themselves and their families, have drastically reduced government's tax base, and have created a black market of violent individuals to provide the free market.
6. Legalize fireworks in Massachusetts
It's time we legalize fireworks in the state of mass, as we're surrounded bye states that have recently legalized them. Why not us?
Fireworks are the key for independence they declare rights and the bang and entertainment they provide is fun if used the right way obviously.
Sign this petition if you are sick of having too drive too another state just to purchase what the law should allow us here.
It's time too be heard for independence.
Hemp is a truly renewable natural resource for medicine, food, clothes, fuel and building materials.
When used as a medicine hemp has no harmful side affects and no death has ever been linked to hemp but thousands of people around the world die each year from the use of prescription drugs.
8. Legalize same sex marriage in Florida
Everyone should have the right to marry the one they love. I know in most religions that it's a sin, but change is good and I don't think god is going to hate someone who loves another human.
Denying the lgbtv community is a violation of religious freedom. (Civil and religious marriages are two separate institutions). Marriage benefits (such as joint ownership, medical decision-making capacity) should be available to all couples. Homosexuality is an accepted lifestyle nowadays with most evidence strongly supporting biological causation. Denying these marriages is a form of minority discrimination. It does not hurt society or anyone in particular.
The only thing that should matter is love. The number of child adoptions should increase since gays cannot pro-create. It encourage people to have strong family values and give up high-risk sexual lifestyles. The same financial benefits that ally to man-woman marriages apply to same-sex marriage.
9. Legalize Medicinal Marijuana Now
After getting feedback, I have been advised to limit the purpose of this petition to medicinal advocacy. I am proposing that the federal government clarify its non-intervention in state affairs concerning respective medicinal laws.
Our prisons are now overflowing with Americans who are there because of this plant, that has been proven to posses medicinal qualities.....
Let's reduce our deficit by legalizing and taxing this product.
10. Legalize Beekeeping in Torrance
Domestic honey bees pollinate our fruit trees and vegetables and are an important and permanent part of our local ecosystem. They also produce local honey that contains the pollen of local flowers and is sought out by local residents and restaurants.
Recognizing the existence of bees and the necessity of trained beekeepers to provide safe homes for bees, cities around the United States have legalized beekeeping, including Long Beach, Rancho Palos Verdes, Rolling Hills Estates, Atlanta, Chicago, Portland, San Francisco, Seattle, the city of Orange and most recently New York City and Santa Monica.
Finally, President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama have publicly affirmed the importance of bees to home gardens by placing two bee hives conspicuously in the middle of their garden in South Lawn of the White House.
Both federal and provincial laws on naturally occurring psychoactives such as Marijuana, Psilocybe, DMT and Opium are inconsistent with the Constitution.
In Canadian constitutional law, all laws of Canada, both provincial and federal, must conform to the Constitution and any laws inconsistent with the Constitution have NO FORCE OR EFFECT
Section 2 of the Constitution Act of 1982 states:
2. Everyone has the following fundamental freedoms:
(a) freedom of conscience and religion;
(b) freedom of thought, belief, opinion and expression, including freedom of the press and other media of
communication;
The federal and provincial laws regarding the prohibition of natural psychoactive plants does not align with the constitutional right to freedom of religion nor towards freedom of belief. These plants are used as religious sacrement through many historical cultures, and are believed to attribute to the healing of many medical ailments. Without these plants we cannot exercise our constitutional right to utilize these materials for religious and sacramental purposes. Nor to exercise our constitutional right to freedom of belief. To sustain our belief that these psychoactive plants are viable medicines.
Therefore all laws regarding to the prohibition of these materials have NO FORCE and EFFECT. This law is proven invalid as it does not conform to Section 2(a)(b) of the Constitution Act of 1982.
It is our right to utilize psychoactive plant life as per the constitution, it is NOT a legality issue!
It is a human rights issue!
12. Support the use of Alternative/Unconventional medicine. T.H.C The Cure For Cancer
I would like to refer you to numerous studies (since 1974!) that show that cannabinoids kills cancer cells, shrink tumors, halts the spread of invasive carcinomas, and prevents occurrence; cannabinoids signal the cancer to go into apoptosis which is “programmed cell death” after Ceramide begins production.
Studies:
-university of VA -THC causes kills leukaemia cells;
-University of Texas study showing the CB1 receptor (which is activated by cannabis) suppresses colorectal cancer tumor, when the CB-1 receptor is lost cancer can occur;
-Univ of Southern Florida study showing that cannabis blocks cancer causing viruses;
-Harvard study showing cannabis cuts lung cancer growth in half;
-The British Journal of Cancer reports that cannabis treats prostate cancer;
-Pacific Medical Center Research Institute found that cannabis halts breast cancer.
13. Legalize Marijuana *(THC The cure for cancer)* in CANADA
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n2LQvRiJKxQ&feature=player_embedded
A number of studies show that THC provides medical benefits for cancer and AIDS patients by increasing appetite and decreasing nausea. It has also been shown to assist some glaucoma patients by reducing pressure within the eye, and is used in the form of cannabis by a number of multiple sclerosis patients, who use it to alleviate neuropathic pain and spasticity. The National Multiple Sclerosis Society is currently supporting further research into these uses.
In August 2009 a phase IV clinical trial by the Hadassah Medical Center in Jerusalem, Israel was started to investigate the effects of THC on post-traumatic stress disorders. THC and other cannabinoid agonists have been shown to be beneficial both in open label studies, as well as in laboratory experiments with animals to ameliorate post-traumatic stress disorders.
Preliminary research on synthetic THC has been conducted on patients with Tourette syndrome, with results suggesting that it may help in reducing nervous tics and urges by a significant degree. Research on twelve patients showed that Marinol reduced tics with no significant adverse effects. A six-week controlled study on 24 patients showed that the patients taking dronabinol had a significant reduction in tic severity without serious adverse effects. More significant reduction in tic severity was reported with longer treatment. No detrimental effects on cognitive functioning and a trend towards improvement in cognitive functioning were reported during and after treatment.
Dronabinol's usefulness as a treatment for TS cannot be determined until/unless longer controlled studies on larger samples are undertaken. Research on THC has shown that Cannabinoid receptors are responsible for mediated inhibition of dopamine release in the retina. A growing number of people around the world and in Canada are ingesting Hemp Oil, THC, and curing themselves of life threatening Cancers and other diseases in weeks.
14. Legalize Cannabis In Western Australia
Marijuana needs to be legalized in Western Australia as it has been proven that it causes less damage than alcohol and tobacco. There has never been a death recorded ever in the world due to cannabis.
If legalized the government could tax it and make millions of dollars for the state opposed to spending millions on arrests etc.
15. Legalize Longboarding, Skateboarding, and Inlineskating In Ottawa
It is very difficult to go outside on a warm sunny day without seeing at least one Longboarder, Skateboarder, or Inline Skater. Over the past few years, these industries have exploded, with people of all ages finding new methods of transportation.
According to the Traffic and parking By-Law NO. 2003 - 530, Part VIII [Driving and Related Rules]
"77. No person shall coast on a roadway, whether on a sleigh, skateboard, rollerskate, in-line skate, cart, children's wagon or toboggan
84. (1) No person shall drive a vehicle or ride upon a skateboard, rollerskates or in-line skates on a sidewalk except for the purpose of directly crossing the sidewalk."
http://www.ottawa.ca/residents/bylaw/a_z/traffic/part_a_en.html#sidewalks
Longboarding, Skateboarding, and Inline Skating are activities that youth use as transportation, a method of exercise, and a reason to go outside.
Longboards, skateboards, and inline skates are more convenient to transport than a bicycle, more environmentally friendly than a car, and faster and more efficient than walking.
16. MAKE MARIJUANA LEGAL IN CHICAGO
Hemp is a valuable plant that could replace paper and various other products that cause massive environmental damage.
This along with the horrible jailing of people for simply smoking pot must stop. Our economy could benefit greatly as well.
17. Legalize Quarter Auction in Pennsylvania
A Quarter Auction is a multi-vendor/home crafters marketing tool to promote direct sales businesses while also benefiting a local charity.
At the auction, recipients bid on items by putting a certain number of quarters in a bucket. The number of quarters to submit depends on the value of the item. Never more than 4 quarters
The recipient will also place a chip with an identifying number on it in a second bucket.
A participating vendor will pull a numbered chip from the second bucket. The person with the paddle that matches the chip that was pulled wins that item.
Quarter Auction would fall under the guidelines of the Small Game of Chance Act.
Currently Quarter Auction are considered illegal because of the three element which Pennsylvania considers gambling illegal. The three elements are 1) Payment of Consideration 2) Reward 3) Chance
18. Boycott American Alcohol Beverages
At least one booze industry lobby group has contributed to efforts to keep marijuana illegal in California: Rhonda Stevenson, of the California Beer and Beverage Distributors (cbbd.com), defended this group's $10.000. donation to support opponents of efforts to legalize, tax, and regulate marijuana in California via Prop. 19 on the state's Nov. 2010 ballot. ( Booze distributors donate to opponents of Prop. 19 ) Stevenson denied fear of competition as reason for the donation. Instead, she claimed concern of highway safety issues for her drivers and the public if marijuana is legalized.
Ms. Stevenson mentioned nothing in her statement of alcohol related injuries and fatalities on California highways. ( Drunk Driving Statistics. )
19. Remove Cannabis from the MoDA 1971 and Allow People to Grow Their Own Cannabis Plants
Cannabis has no overdose level and nobody has ever died from using cannabis.
Cannabis has documented medicinal value, which was finally and publicly acknowledged on Monday June 21st 2010 when Sativex was licensed for medicinal use for the treatment of multiple sclerosis.
The Wootton Report of 1969 has been completely ignored by successive UK governments.
It's time to end the criminalising misery of cannabis prohibition!
20. Help Legalise Airsoft in Tasmania
The sport of Airsoft should not have to prove itself to the Tasmanian Government any more. The safety statistics have been provided, the proof of their futility in relation to every other firearm under the act has been proven and the Tasmanian community has voiced its support.
Airsoft in Tasmania has the potential for a very positive economic boost within the Tasmanian community and the tourism industry.
Airsoft is an active and intense sport promoting fitness, team work, communication and enjoyment for all types of people.
Airsoft in Tasmania will bring with it the opportunity for a complete national competition as well as state and club level competitions.
To make this a success we need the support of the Tasmanian community and other communities around Australia involved in Airsoft.
Please support Airsoft in Tasmanian by signing this petition.
Thank you in advance.
21. Legalize Cannabis use for Adults 18 and up in the USA
Prohibition has failed to control the use and domestic production of marijuana. The government has tried to use criminal penalties to prevent marijuana use for over 75 years and yet: marijuana is now used by over 25 million people annually, cannabis is currently the largest cash crop in the United States, and marijuana is grown all over the planet.
Claims that marijuana prohibition is a successful policy are ludicrous and unsupported by the facts, and the idea that marijuana will soon be eliminated from America and the rest of the world is a ridiculous fantasy.
Arrests for marijuana possession disproportionately affect blacks and Hispanics and reinforce the perception that law enforcement is biased and prejudiced against minorities. African-Americans account for approximately 13% of the population of the United States and about 13.5% of annual marijuana users, however, blacks also account for 26% of all marijuana arrests. Recent studies have demonstrated that blacks and Hispanics account for the majority of marijuana possession arrests in New York City, primarily for smoking marijuana in public view.
Law enforcement has failed to demonstrate that marijuana laws can be enforced fairly without regard to race; far too often minorities are arrested for marijuana use while white/non-Hispanic Americans face a much lower risk of arrest.
FACTS:
· Deaths per year resulting from alcohol: 100,000
· Deaths per year resulting from tobacco: 430,000
· Deaths per year resulting from aspirin: 180- 1000
· Deaths per year resulting from legal drugs: 106,000
· Deaths that have ever occurred in direct result of Cannabis: 0 (that’s right zero)
Hemp is the oldest cultivated fiber plant in the world.
· Low-THC fiber hemp varieties developed by the French and others have been available for over 20 years. It is impossible to get high from fiber hemp. Over 600,000 acres of hemp is grown worldwide with no misuse problem.
· One acre of hemp can produce as much usable fiber as 4 acres of trees or two acres of cotton.
· Trees cut down take 50-500 years to grow, while hemp can be cultivated in as little as 100 days and can yield 4 times more paper over a 20 year period.
· Until 1883, from 75-90% of all paper in the world was made with cannabis hemp fiber including that for books, Bibles, maps, paper money, stocks and bonds, newspapers, etc.
· Hemp paper is longer lasting than wood pulp, stronger, acid-free, and chlorine free (Chlorine is estimated to cause up to 10% of all Cancers).
· Hemp paper can be recycled 7 times, wood pulp 4 times.
· Hemp particleboard may be up to 2 times stronger than wood particleboard and holds nails better.
· Hemp is a softer, warmer, and more water absorbent, than cotton and doesn’t stretch out.
· Half of the U.S. pesticides are used to treat cotton, while hemp has a natural pesticide.
· Almost any product that can be made from wood, cotton, or petroleum (including plastics) can be made from hemp. There are 25,000 known uses for hemp.
· For thousands of years virtually all good paints and varnishes were made with hemp seed oil and/or linseed oil.
· One acre of hemp produces as much cellulose fiber pulp as 4.1 acres of trees, making hemp a perfect material to replace trees for pressed board, particle board, and concrete construction molds.
· Heating and compressing plant fibers can create a practical, inexpensive, fire-resistant constructions material with excellent thermal and sound-insulating qualities.
· In 1941 Henry Ford built a plastic car made of fiber from hemp and wheat straw. Hemp is biodegradable, as synthetic plastic is not.
22. Legalize/decriminalize marijuana in the USA
For thousands of years people have been using Marijuana in all kinds of stuff. Everything from food to medicines to textiles. It has been a part of the world for as long as the world has been. George Washington grew it as well as most of the first settlers.
Henry Ford invented a car made out of hemp, that ran on hemp ethanol. A renewable fuel, that does less damage to the environment in the making and will not kill the planet if spilled.
23. Reformation of Washington State Marijuana Laws
Two marijuana reformation bills before the Washington state legislature were voted down by a House committee Wednesday, January 22. HB 2401 would have legalized marijuana possession for people 21 or older, and HB 1177 would have decriminalized the possession of up to 40 grams.
Both bills got a public hearing before the Assembly of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness Committee last week. But despite impressive testimony, a public opinion poll showing majority support for legalization, and the announcement by reform activists that they would put a legalization initiative on the ballot this fall (2010), the same committee voted 6-2 against legalization and 5-3 against decriminalization.
The four committee Republicans voted unanimously against both measures. Two committee Democrats joined with the GOP to vote against legalization, while one Democrat voted against decriminalization.
Washington State Reformation Bills:
HB 2401 (Legalization) - http://apps.leg.wa.gov/billinfo/summary.aspx?bill=2401&year=2009
HB 1177 (Decriminalization) - http://apps.leg.wa.gov/billinfo/summary.aspx?bill=1177&year=2009
24. Legalize stun gun and taser ownership
Massachusetts is one of only 9 states in the US that bans stun guns and tasers for personal protection and has some of the toughest gun laws in the US leaving the public with few options to protect themselves and their familys. Less lethal is one of the best options for safety, pepper spray is effective but not always the best option, a stun gun or taser is a very safe option for personal safety so safe infect most police departments now carry them.
The state of Massachusetts should allow the purchase and use of stun guns and tasers to any one who has a FID card which is currently needed to carry pepper spray. Their is no reason not to.
25. Legalise Marijuana In Australia
The Australian Government need to review an outdated law that was influenced by other nations, Australia should adapt a similar concept as Amsterdam whereas the sale of a personal quantity (small amount) of Marijuana can be obtained in licenced shops and/or licenced growers.
26. Legalize Marijuana in Canada
Marijuana users are determined to stand up to the injustice of marijuana probation and accomplish legalization, no matter how long or what it takes to succeed. Despite the threat of arrests and a variety of other punishments and sanctions marijuana users have persisted in their support for legalization for over a generation.
They refuse to give up their long quest for justice because they believe in the fundamental values of Canadian society. Prohibition has failed to silence marijuana users despite its best attempts over the last generation. The issue of marijuana's legalization is a persistent issue that, like marijuana, will simply not go away.
Marijuana will be legalized because marijuana users will continue to fight for it until we succeed.
27. Save Our Economy: Legalize Marijuana in California! Support A.B. 390
Students for Sensible Drug Policy is asking for your support of Assembly Bill 390, the Marijuana Control, Regulation, and Education Act -- the first bill ever introduced to legalize the sale and use of marijuana in California.
As introduced, this groundbreaking proposal would raise over $1 billion in annual revenue by taxing the retail production and sale of marijuana for adults over 21 years of age.
The bill would not alter existing legislation on the use of medicinal cannabis, nor would it impose new taxes or sanctions on the medical cultivation of cannabis.
Assembly Bill 390 proposes to make California the first state in the nation to enact a rational public policy for the control and regulation of marijuana. Please show your support for this measure by contacting your California Assembly members and urging them to support the Marijuana Control, Regulation, and Education Act.
28. Legalize Beekeeping in NYC!
CAMPAIGN UPDATE (MARCH 16, 2010)
Success!!! The Board of Health voted today in favor of lifting the ban on honeybee-keeping in NYC!! Thanks and congrats to all who supported the campaign! ~ Nadia
ARCHIVED BACKGROUND
Question: What do cities like Atlanta, Chicago, Portland, San Francisco, Seattle, Toronto, and Vancouver have that NYC does not?
Answer: Legalized beekeeping.
Bee keeping is currently illegal in New York City. The New York City Health Code under Section 161.01 prohibits the possession, keeping, harboring and selling of “wild animals.” This ban, in it’s listing of “all venomous insects” includes bees and in doing so outlaws beekeeping.
Honeybees are garden heroes! Honeybees help gardens grow more fruit and vegetables and produce sweet honey. They are nature’s best pollinators and contribute to productive harvests in community gardens, public parks and nature centers.
In order to improve the health and well-being of our urban environment and populace, Just Food proposes that honeybees be removed or exempted from Health Code 161.01.
To find out more about the benefits of legalized beekeeping, read our honeybee fact sheet at: http://justfood.org/issues/
29. Support Naturally Occurring, Controlled Substances - Victoria
note: sign down the bottom of the page please =)
Many of our greatest industrial, natural resources as we all know come from plants. The aim of this petition is to speak out against the controlling of valuable naturally occurring chemicals in some of our most controversial plants due to the intermingling of our governments and corporations and more recently miss-information within our media.
Aside from industrial use many controlled plants/compounds have various medicinal applications (like that of; Symphytum (Comfrey), Lobelia, Gelsemium, Ephedra, Coltsfoot). Many of these controlled substances are even used for the rehabilitation of chemical drum depenancies.
Industrial applications include; textiles, materials, bio-degradable plastics, fuel, rope, construction materials, & many many many more.
I am initially going into detail on one plant in-particular, and probably the most controversial due to the extent of its recreational usage.
Thank you very much for taking the time to check this out.
Every signature is greatly appreciated and does count.

Hemp - Wikipedia
Hemp (from Old English hænep, see cannabis (etymology)) is the common name for plants of the entire genus Cannabis, although the term is often used to refer only to Cannabis strains cultivated for industrial (non-drug) use.
Industrial hemp has many uses, including paper, textiles, biodegradable plastics, health food, and fuel.[citation needed] It is one of the fastest growing biomasses known,[citation needed] and one of the earliest domesticated plants known.[1] It also runs parallel with the "Green Future" objectives that are becoming increasingly popular. Hemp requires little to no pesticides,[2] no herbicides,[3] controls erosion of the topsoil,[citation needed] and produces oxygen. Furthermore, hemp can be used to replace many potentially harmful products, such as tree paper (the processing of which uses bleaches and other toxic chemicals, and contributes to deforestation), cosmetics, and plastics, most of which are petroleum-based and do not decompose easily.
Licenses for hemp cultivation are issued in the European Union and Canada. In the United Kingdom, these licenses are issued by the Home Office under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971. When grown for non-drug purposes hemp is referred to as industrial hemp, and a common product is fiber for use in a wide variety of products, as well as the seed for nutritional aspects as well as for the oil. Feral hemp or ditch weed is usually a naturalized fiber or oilseed strain of Cannabis that has escaped from cultivation and is self-seeding.
Cannabis sativa L. subsp. sativa var. sativa is the variety grown for industrial use in Europe, Canada, and elsewhere, while C. sativa subsp. indica generally has poor fiber quality and is primarily used for production of recreational and medicinal drugs. The major difference between the two types of plants is the appearance and the amount of Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) secreted in a resinous mixture by epidermal hairs called glandular trichomes. Strains of Cannabis approved for industrial hemp production produce only minute amounts of this psychoactive drug, not enough for any physical or psychological effects. Typically, Hemp contains below 0.3% THC, while Cannabis grown for marijuana can contain anywhere from 6 or 7 % to 20% or even more.
Comfrey
Medicinal uses
Contemporary herbalists view comfrey as an ambivalent and controversial herb that may offer therapeutic benefits but at the potential risk of liver toxicity.
One of its country names for comfrey was ‘knitbone’, a reminder of its traditional use in healing. Modern science confirms that comfrey can influence the course of bone ailments.[2] [3] [4] [5]
The herb contains allantoin, a cell proliferant that speeds up the natural replacement of body cells. Comfrey was used to treat a wide variety of ailments ranging from bronchial problems, broken bones, sprains, arthritis, gastric and varicose ulcers, severe burns, acne and other skin conditions. It was reputed to have bone and teeth building properties in children, and have value in treating ‘many female disorders’. In past times comfrey baths were popular to repair the hymen and thus ‘restore virginity’. Constituents of comfrey also include mucilage, steroidal saponins, tannins, pyrrolizidine alkaloids, inulin, vitamin B12 and proteins.
Comfrey is a particularly valuable source of fertility to the organic gardener. It is very deep rooted and acts as a dynamic accumulator, mining a host of nutrients from the soil. These are then made available through its fast growing leaves (up to 4-5 pounds per plant per cut) which, lacking fibre, quickly break down to a thick black liquid. There is also no risk of nitrogen robbery when comfrey is dug into the soil as the C:N ratio of the leaves is lower than that of well-rotted compost. Comfrey is an excellent source of potassium, an essential plant nutrient needed for flower, seeds and fruit production. Its leaves contain 2-3 times more potassium than farmyard manure, mined from deep in the subsoil, tapping into reserves that would not normally be available to plants.
There are various ways in which comfrey can be utilised as a fertiliser, these include:
Comfrey for potatoes - freshly cut comfrey should be wilted for a day or two, then laid along potato trenches about 2 inches deep. Avoid using flowering stems as these can root. The leaves will rapidly break down and supply potassium rich fertiliser for the developing potato plants.
Comfrey as a compost activator- include 2-3 inch deep layers of comfrey in the compost heap to encourage bacterial activity and help to heat the heap. Comfrey should not be added in quantity as it will quickly break down into a dark sludgey liquid that needs to be balanced with more fibrous, carbon rich material.
Comfrey liquid fertiliser- can be produced by either rotting leaves down in rainwater for 4-5 weeks to produce a ready to use ‘comfrey tea’, or by stacking dry leaves under a weight in a container with a hole in the base. When the leaves decompose a thick black comfrey concentrate is collected. This must be diluted at 15:1 before use.
Comfrey as a mulch- a 2 inch layer of comfrey leaves placed around a crop will slowly break down and release plant nutrients. it is especially useful for crops that need extra potassium, such as tomatoes, and also fruit bushes like gooseberries and currants.
Comfrey potting mixture- originally devised using peat, environmental awareness has led to a leaf mold-based alternative being adopted instead. Two year old, well decayed leaf mold should be used, this will absorb the nutrient-rich liquid released by the decaying comfrey.
In a black plastic sack alternate 3-4 inch layers of leaf mould and chopped comfrey leaves. Add a little dolomitic limestone to slightly raise pH. Leave for between 2-5 months depending on the season, checking that it does not dry out or become too wet. The mixture is ready when the comfrey leaves have rotted and are no longer visible. Use as a general potting compost, although it is too strong for seedlings.
Lobelia
Cultivation and uses
Several species are cultivated as ornamental plants in gardens. These include Lobelia cardinalis (Cardinal Flower or Indian Pink), Lobelia siphilitica (Blue Lobelia), Lobelia fulgens and Lobelia erinus, as well as some hybrids.
Lobelia erinus, a South African annual plant that includes many cultivated selections in a wide variety of colours. They are grown in beds, large pots, window boxes and in hanging baskets. The plants are most often grown away from sunny hot southern exposures (northern exposure's in the southern hemisphere) in soils that are moisture retentive.
In the Victorian language of flowers, the lobelia symbolizes malevolence and ill will.
[edit]Medicinal use
Native Americans used lobelia to treat respiratory and muscle disorders, and as a purgative. Today it is used to treat asthma and food poisoning, and is often used as part of smoking cessation programs. It is a physical relaxant, and can serve as a nerve depressant, easing tension and panic. The species used most commonly in modern herbalism is Lobelia inflata (Indian Tobacco).[2]
Extracts of Lobelia inflata contain lobeline, which showed positive effects in the treatment of multidrug-resistant tumor cells.[3] Furthermore, lobeline can be modified to lobelane which decreased methamphetamine self-administration in rats.[4] It therefore opens a perspective in methamphetamine dependency treatment.[5]
As used in North America, lobelia's medicinal properties include the following: emetic (induces vomiting), stimulant, antispasmodic, expectorant, diaphoretic, relaxant, nauseant, sedative, diuretic, and nervine.
Because of its similarity to nicotine, the internal use of lobelia may be dangerous to susceptible populations, including children, pregnant women, and individuals with cardiac disease. Excessive use will cause nausea and vomiting. It is not recommended for use by pregnant women and is best administered by a practitioner qualified in its use.
Two species, Lobelia siphilitica and Lobelia cardinalis, were considered a cure for syphilis[6].
Herbalist Samuel Thompson popularized medicinal use of lobelia in the United States in the early 19th century, as well as other medicinal plants like goldenseal.[2]

Coltsfoot
Coltsfoot (Tussilago farfara) is a plant in the family Asteraceae.
It has been used medicinally as a cough suppressant. The name "tussilago" itself means "cough suppressant." The plant has been used since at least historical times to treat lung ailments such as asthma as well as various coughs by way of smoking. Crushed flowers supposedly cured skin conditions, and the plant has been consumed as a food item.
Coltsfoot is a perennial herbaceous plant that spreads by seeds and rhizomes. Tussilago is often found in colonies of dozens of plants. The flowers, which superficially resemble dandelions, appear in early spring before dandelions appear. The leaves, which resemble a colt's foot in cross section, do not appear usually until after the seeds are set. Thus, the flowers appear on stems with no apparent leaves, and the later appearing leaves then wither and die during the season without seeming to set flowers.
The plant is typically between 10 - 30cm in height.
Coltsfoot is native to several locations in Europe and Asia. It is also a common plant in North America and South America where it has been introduced, most likely by settlers as a medicinal item. The plant is often found in waste and disturbed places and along roadsides and paths. In some areas it is considered an invasive species.
Coltsfoot is used as a food plant by the larvae of some Lepidoptera species including The Gothic and Small Angle Shades. The Coltsfoot is also worked by the honey bee (Apis mellifera mellifera).
Other common names include Ass's foot, Bull's foot, Butterbur, Coughwort, Farfara, Foal's foot, Foalswort, Horse Foot and Winter heliotrope.
Sometimes it is confused as Western coltsfoot.
Dried coltsfoot is often used as a tobacco alternative, notably in Amsterdam, since the legal status of tobacco was tightened in August 2008.
My thoughts and the reasons behind the start of the outlawing of naturally occurring substances:
The facts are there for those who wish to hear them, from everything from nutrition, medicinal usage, the production of; cothes, tablets (something like 10000% more efficient than chopping down our beautiful slow growing trees), and countless other uses.
Cannabis was the most utilized and paramount of materials employed to make.. well... anything. Another example is that of building materials, the hardest construction material known to man just so happens to be a composite make up of concrete and the fibers of the cannabis plant. 90% of the worlds rope at the time was also produced with the fibers of the cannabis plant. You can even power a car off your plants with current technologies.
Remember, I'm not talking DIRECTLY about smoking the drug, rather about its unsurpassed usability within our society. There are so many other things that cannabis is unsurpassed in so I'll go onto the reasons it was in fact banned.
In 1936 Popular Mechanics Magazine hailed the invention of a method and machine tool to drastically increase the viability and speed of the production of hemp and predicted that it would again become the most valuable industrial material. Many people were threatened greatly by this. Then well established bodies including; Herst Paper Manufacturers, Kimberly Clark, and many other Governmentally connected multi-national corporation who also owned large timber holdings at the time. Let alone the force we know as DuPont (Chemical Company) as the processing of cannabis uses only 1/5 as much chemicals as compared to wood pulp processing. On top of that they had just patented a brand new Wood Pulp Solphide Process.
DuPont's previously patented plastic fibers had just surpassed cannabis at #2 fiber just behind cotton. They didn't want any of this to change. Regardless of the impact on our environment. In early American settlements you could even be jailed for NOT growing Cannabis. They realized the incredible importance of sustainability.
Furthermore, on the medical subject; You cannot patent a naturally occurring bio-chemical, It has to be synthetic.
Thanks... Raél
