1. Do NOT Delay Hillingdon's Building Schools for the Future Programme
In 2008 the Government announced that Hillingdon secondary and special schools would be included in a £150 million programme of modernising and improving our schools and making their facilities fit for the 21st century.
A year ago the council sent out to local schools a brochure setting out their plans on how this money would be invested in improving our schools. The Council said at that time that “We will experience exciting new changes in Hillingdon schools, making them suitable for 21st century learning.” The Council told us that the plan was to start in the south of the borough and include the north of the borough as soon as possible.
The Council should have agreed its plans with the Government by now so that we can secure the funds and start the work. However, on Thursday 18th March 2010, the leader of the council informed secondary head teachers that the Council is delaying agreeing the improvement programme plans until after the election and is laying off the bulk of the staff working on the programme. In addition the national Conservative education spokesperson has said that if the local programme has not reached “financial close” by the election “then it won’t be guaranteed.”
In effect this means that the £150 million programme for our schools is now at serious risk.
2. Dic Penderyn: The Welsh Martyr's body should be exhumed and reburied in Merthyr Tydfil.
In 1831 Dic Penderyn/Richard Lewis the leader of the Merthyr Uprising was accused, tried, and executed in Cardiff Prison for a crime that he did not commit. He was then buried by the authorities at a secret Welsh location in order to prevent his grave becoming a shrine to the cause of freedom.
We would like to see his body exhumed then reburied in Merthyr Tydfil, the town that loved him.
On neopets it is against the rules for a guild leader to give out neopoints or items to their guild members and if the guild leader does this they will be frozen.

THIS PETITION IS TO BEESEACH THE UMMAH.
5. NO FUTURE LEADER WILL HAVE TO KNEEL FOR ME!
The thoughts behind this pledge.
As a petition is only a question to take action in a certain area of policy, it doesn’t take much of the signers to put their autograph beneath it. It can be done with no attention for the goal. The pledge combined with a petition will ask something from the person who puts his autograph beneath it. There is a certain amount of personal value that is invested in this pledge. No one signs this pledge without giving it their attention.
A pledge is not a legal document, and shouldn't be treated as such. It is asking for a man, or womans word to uphold a promise they made.
Don't sign this pledge lightly.
Make it a real commitment to Life.
You will not only influence the leaders. You will influence the collective heart of humanity.
Leadership is an act of taking responsibility.
Warschauer Kniefall is a German term meaning "The Warsaw Genuflection (kneeling)", which refers to the incident on December 7, 1970, in which social democratic Chancellor of Germany Willy Brandt, while visiting a monument to the Nazi-era Warsaw Ghetto Uprising in the then communist Peoples Republic of Poland, very surprisingly, and to all appearances spontaneously, knelt. The occasion was the signing of the Treaty of Warsaw between West Germany and the Peoples Republic of Poland. It should be noted in this context that Brandt himself had actively resisted the Nazi regime.
In historical terms, Brandt gained much renown for this act, and it is thought to be one of the reasons he received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1971.
While at the time, positive reactions may have been limited, his show of humility was a small but vital step in bridging the gaps World War II had left between Germany and Eastern Europe.
With enough pledges collected, this pledge will turn into a petition for the worlds leaders to sign. It will be taken to the United Nations as a powerfull statement from the people of the world. The more pledges from the people, the more powerfull the statement and pressure on the leaders.
"My greatest succes was having contributed to the fact that, in the world we live in, the name of our country, Germany that is, and the concept of peace can again be mentioned in the same breath."
(Willy Brandt, 1913-1992)

7. Change Martin Luther King Jr. Day to Civil Right Day
March 28, 2006
Rosa Parks, the mother of the civil right movement should be celebrated at one of the Holidays in the USA.
Since it is a conflict of interest to have another holiday, I would like to see her name written in the calendar as unobserved holiday. But this will beat the meaning of writing to you. I would really like to see her remembered. Since there are so many holidays in a year already, I would like to see her remembered as a civil right leader.
How could this be done? I researched about it and one of the ways to do it is the model of how the President Day came about. It has come to talk about, President Abraham Lincoln, the civil right leader. He is being observed along with President George Washington and then the rest of the Presidents.
With this, it seems appropriate that Martin Luther King Jr., the third Monday in January, to be Civil Right Day. On this date, we can remember all the civil right fighters that made this country great as it is. Everyone of this country that has actively spoken and supported Freedom should be recognized on this date. Let this country stand and let it stand as a wholesome peacemaker country. Let no Freedom Fighter be left behind.
To all free people of this country, let us stand and make this happen. Let us remember Rosa Parks, and the rest of the freedom fighters.

8. Chilkur Balaji Temple Protection Movement
February 27, 2006
Sri Nara Chandrababu Naidu.
Ex Chief Minister of State & Leader of Opposition Party.
Respected Sir,
Chilkur Balaji Temple situated in Osmansagar (Chilkur village), Hyd is the only Temple in the World that boasts of not having a 'Hundi' and does not discriminate among any devotees based on their social status.
Devotees are NOT EXPECTED to make any MONETARY OFFERINGS neither are they accepted. The temple run by the Head Priest, Sri Soundara Rajan is being maintained well & the Lord is answering devotees prayers in bountiful.
The taking over of the Temple by the Endowments Department WILL introduce the 'Hundi' system and other special darshans for the VIP's. The common man who has been able to have darshan of the Lord JUST LIKE ANY OTHER VIP will be DENIED this privilege. Devotees will have to BUY tickets to have darshan of the Lord and more than anything else, it will lead to the COMMERCIALISATION of the Temple.
As you are aware that there is currently an ongoing agitation regarding the taking over of the temple by the Endowments Department; As the Ex Chief Minister of the State and a strong Leader of the Opposition Party, I expect COMPLETE SUPPORT from YOU towards the Temple Protection Movement.
We HOPE you will HELP US in seeing Chilkur Balaji Temple being taken care of by the same Archaka family, run on the SAME PRINCIPLES.
This is POSSIBLE ONLY WHEN NOT engulfed by the Endowments.
Thanks for your support.
Snigdha Reddy.
Save Douglas Devananda.
The last elected Tamil leader threatened by the LTTE.
This is the initial step of a world wide appeal to the United Nations to save the life of Douglas Devananda - the last remaining Tamil opponent of the LTTE banned by the international community for acts of terrorism.
He is the leader of the Tamil political party in the democratic stream which is seen as a formidable rival of the LTTE who claims to "the sole representative of the Tamils". In the past the LTTE (better known as Tamil Tiger terrorists) have made ten attempts on the life of Douglas Devananda, a member of parliament elected by the Tamil people in his electorate in Jaffna. Though he escaped all attempts he is aware of what the IRA told Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher: "You have to be lucky all the time. We have to be lucky only once".
This appeal is to put pressure on the LTTE to halt its eleventh, or twelfth or any other attempts on the life Douglas Devananda. Like any other human being he has a right to life, free from the threats of LTTE suicide bombers or snipers. The international community was shocked when the LTTE sniper shot dead Lakshman Kadirgamar, the Sri Lankan Foreign Minister, on August 12, 2005. He is the latest in a long list of Tamil leaders eliminated by the LTTE. The history of the LTTE is a record of eliminating all potential rivals to its Supreme, Velupillai Prabhakaran, who is wanted by India for the murder of Rajiv Gandhi, the Prime Minister of India, wanted by the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka for 200 years for the killing of non-combatant civilians when the Central Bank building was blown up in the heart of the Colombo and wanted by Interpol.
With the elimination of Lakshman Kadirgamar, a Tamil lawyer from Oxford University, the LTTE silenced one of its leading opponents. The next in line is Douglas Devananda.
It is also necessary to highlight his plight because the LTTE has never admitted to any of the killings. It always draws a smoke screen denying responsibility and blaming it on others. The organizers of this petition want to put on notice that if something happens to Douglas Devananda it would be only from the action of the LTTE.
In the past, though the LTTE, has denied responsibility, it has left its paw marks through (1) Tiger technology, (2) modus operandi and (3) motives. The Tiger technology is revealed in suicide bombers, (they perfected the art of jackets worn round the body) , long-range snipers, or pistol gangs riding in motor cycles. Their modus operandi is to study, video and map out strategies of the location and go on practice runs before executing with deadly accuracy.
All the Tamil and non-Tamil leaders killed - i.e. from Rajiv Gandhi to Lakshman Kadirgamar -- had posed a serious threat to the LTTE at one time or another. All three factors have combined in the previous ten attacks on Douglas Devananda.
Devananda, who heads the Eelam People's Democratic Party, V. Anandasangaree, head of the Tamil United Liberation Front and Col Karuna, are the three remaining Tamil leaders who are on the hit list of the Tamil Tigers. Of these Anandasangaree is abroad and Col. Karuna is in hiding. The easiest target is Douglas Devananda, senior minister the United Peoples' Freedom Alliance (UPFA) Government led by Sri Lanka President Chandrika Bandaranaike.
Douglas Devananda, an elected Member of Parliament in the Jaffna electoral district, won a seat in the parliament of Sri Lanka at the last parliamentary general elections held on 02 April 2004, despite rampant election fraud, malpractices, threats and intimidation of LTTE, and disproved the LTTE claim that they are the "sole representatives of the Tamils".
Douglas Devananda is the only moderate Tamil political leader, who has been protesting against the LTTE atrocities in Sri Lanka, for the past 15 years continuously. Douglas and his men, based in Sri Lanka, are determined to expose the atrocities of the LTTE to the International Community.
Douglas Devananda MP is today the only surviving Senior Tamil Minister of Agricultural Marketing Development, Co-operative Development, Hindu Affairs and Assisting Education and Vocational Training in the Cabinet of Chandrika Kumaratunga, President of Sri Lanka.
Devananda was born in Jaffna on 10th November 1957. At the age of 13 he joined the Manavar Peravai (Students Federation) and in 1975 he joined the EROS - Eelam Revolutionary Organization of Students. It was then that he assumed the pseudonym of Douglas.
In his youth he was with various Tamil rebel groups. But realizing that the destiny of the Tamil people is by winning rights through non-violent democratic means he turned a new leaf by establishing the Eelam People's Democratic Party (EPDP).
Having entered the democratic mainstream, Douglas worked hard to build his party in the North-East Province of Sri Lanka. His efforts paid dividends when nine members of the EPDP, including himself were elected to Parliament from the Jaffna District, in August 1994. Douglas was reelected to Parliament in October 2000, and again in December 2001.
Douglas Devananda is a self-confident idealist, who is a committed fighter against fascism. He is unassuming, approachable and a believer in humanism. He is determined to serve his people, despite the fact that he has been wounded, scarred and blinded in one eye, and compelled to live a life in the shadow of death. He deserves to lead a normal life without threats to his life. This appeal is to give him that right. Your vote can, hopefully, ensure that right to live in a democratic society without being killed just because he disagrees with those who claim to be "the sole representative" of any community - an unrealistic political proposition except in a fascist regime.
Tribute: Shankar Rajee
M.R. Narayan Swamy
Shankar Rajee, who died of a heart attack in Colombo on January 10, 2005, was one of the earliest entrants into Tamil militancy in Sri Lanka, one who closely witnessed the growth of the movement from its nascent days to the frightening proportions it has now assumed.
In the last years of his life, Shankar (real name Nesadurai Thirunesan) had bowed out of the Indian media scene and led a largely low key, though not quiet, life, hopping between Chennai, where his mother lived, and Colombo, where he was a consultant with the state-run Cashew Corporation. He was also the leader of whatever was left of the Eelam Revolutionary Organisation (EROS), the oldest of all the Tamil militant groups which came up in the 1970s in response to growing Sinhala chauvinism.
Shankar, who was educated in Jaffna and London, was among the earliest Tamils who took military training from the Palestinian guerrillas in the Middle East, probably in the hope that their own community would some day produce a Yasser Arafat.
In the years I covered the Sri Lankan ethnic conflict, I came into close contact with Shankar and he helped me gain valuable insight into the Tamil society. Our first meeting took place at the EROS office in a middle- class Chennai neighbourhood where I had gone to interview its other best-known leader, V. Balakumar. As the latter spoke to me, I saw Shankar seated by his side, studying a map of Jaffna and making a note or two. EROS had a collective leadership in which Balakumar and Shankar were the first among equals. They had contrasting personalities. Balakumar was the quiet one, almost inaudible, at home in Tamil, while Shankar spoke Tamil and English with equal ease, was outgoing and felt comfortable dealing with Indian bureaucracy and diplomats. Shankar was designated the head of the EROS military unit and maintained liaison with revolutionary groups from around the world.
Like so many Sri Lankan Tamils of that era, Shankar was a Marxist during his student days. In London, he and like-minded students formed a student group and then, in 1975, set up EROS. It was a path-breaking development in Tamil history. Some EROS members enjoyed a warm relationship with the local PLO representative who helped them to fly to Lebanon and Syria to get military training from Arafat's Fatah guerrilla group. Shankar valued this training although nothing much came out of it.
It was EROS that introduced LTTE, then a virtually unknown group, to the Palestinians but this produced friction between him and LTTE chief Velupillai Prabhakaran. The row was over money, which Shankar paid up. But their relations never improved, and years later LTTE's Anton Balasingham, probably reflecting Prabhakaran's view, accused Shankar of being an Indian spya charge the latter vehemently denied.
Much before that, Shankar recalled meeting Prabhakaran sometime in 1975-76 in the Tamil Nadu town of Tiruchy. Shankar had flown into India from London carrying air gun pellets, batteries and film rolls. He had been told to deliver them to a man but was not given his identity. It turned out to be Prabhakaran, a young and largely unknown entity who turned up at the small hotel across the Tiruchy bus stand where Shankar was putting up. When I reasearched for the LTTE chief's biography (Inside an Elusive Mind, Konark, 2003) Shankar told me: "It was Prabhakaran who came to take the delivery. Honestly, I was not impressed with him. He did not seem happy with what I had brought. He obviously was expecting some other things. Just what, I do not know."
Years later, before the souring of ties, Shankar had a more fruitful meeting, in an LTTE hideout in Sri Lanka's north, with Prabhakaran, who by then had begun to acquire a stature in the militant ranks. Shankar had a vivid memory, and in 2001 could recall what really happened: "Prabhakaran was eager to know what training the Palestinians imparted. His eyes sparkled at the mention of M-16s, AK-47s and anti-articraft guns. But he was keener to hear about pistols and revolvers."
But Prabhakaran was not a man of theory; he invited Shankar to display his shooting skills. The target was an empty Milk Maid can. From 20 feet away, Shankar took aim and grazed the can, toippling it. "Prabhakaran walked up to the fallen can, picked it up and put it back on the wall. He then returned to where the Fath-trained (Shankar) was standing and fired the gun, hitting it smack in the middle." Shankar was naturally impressed.
Despite the Palestinian training, Shankar and his friends in EROS did not carry out any military action in Sri Lanka. There were also differencs within EROS, leading to a split and the birth of the Eelam People's Revolutionary Liberation Front (EPRLF). When Tamil militancy galloped from 1983, EROS was among the first groups to secure Indian military training.
Shankar was also among the first to understand that New Delhi would never allow an independent Tamil Eelam to come up.
During the years leading up to the 1987 India-Sri Lanka peace agreement that sought to end Tamil separatism, Shankar, as the EROS military wing leader, masterminded some deadly bomb attacks in the island-nation that claimed many innocent lives. He also developed close ties with the Indian establishment but this was not enough to save him from a jail term in Chennai that may have contributed to his early death.
Shankar and Balakumar met the then Prime Minister, Rajiv Gandhi, just before the latter flew to Colombo in July 1987 to sign the India-Sri Lanka accord. Prabhakaran, however, continued to mistrust him. Shankar and Balakumar met the LTTE chief at New Delhi's Ashok Hotel at that time; but on a second occasion, Prabhakaran told Balakumar that he did not want to see Shankar.
Shankar had a keen understanding of the Sri Lankan Tamil society and of LTTE. When the Tigers took on the Indian Army, he prophesied to friends that Prabhakaran would never, ever give up his Eelam goal. He was proved right. In March 1990 the Indian troops came home and the now-powerful LTTE ordered EROS to disband or merge with the Tigers. Some disgusted EROS members drifted away from politics, others (Balakumar included) joined LTTE while small band led by Shankar kept the outfit's flag flying for whatever it was worth.
Shankar was arrested in Chennai in 1997 on charges of smugggling foreign currency and was jailed. None of his contacts in the Indian establishment came to his rescue. He spent over a year in prison, where, his mother recalled later, he developed a good rapport with the other, mostly Indian, prisoners and became their leader. But despite the bitterness the detention caused, Shankar considered himself a friend of India. The imprisonment, however, affected his health, and he was never the same old self again.
Shankar never underestimated the LTTE or Prabhakaran, At the same time, he could not think of giving up his independent existence. Once the Sri Lankan military took control of Jaffna from LTTE in December 1995, Shankar visited the town to see a relative. The LTTEwhich controlled a small part of Jaffna peninsula but had many eyes and ears in the regioncame to know about the visit. The Tigers wanted to know if Shankar was merely calling on the relative or trying to resurrect EROS. Shankar got the message and promptly left Jaffna.
More than once he told me that Prabhakaran's personality would never allow him to compromise with Colombo, Norway or no Norway. It is a viewpoint that many have come to share now. But in February 2002, when the LTTE and the Sri Lankan Government signed a ceasefire, only a few like Shankar asserted, with confidence that comes with experience, that it would not lead to Prabhakaran embracing Colombo, never ever.

11. Keith's Leadership Ability
The Product Process Supervisor position has opened at Best Buy #047. Keith Wood filled out a JOS form and approached the hiring manager, Mark Pacheco. Mark's response was that Keith was not ready, that he lacked the necessary leadership skills and had not been in store long enough to be comfortable with everything.
Keith is disputing this for these reasons:
1) Multiple people Keith works with have stated that they think Keith would be a good Supervisor.
2) Said people have also voiced that they would listen to and respect Keith as Supervisor and as a leader.
3) When asked about the other available candidates, said individuals stated that they believed Keith was the most knowledgable, had the best temperament for the job, and would look out for the team.
This petition is to show how much of the department would support and follow Keith as Supervisor.
12. Get George Bush & Tony Blair OUT!
In light of the current situation in Iraq, and the way that these so-called "world leaders" have conducted their self with lies and false issues surrounding their campaign of Operation Iraqi Liberation (O.I.L.). With their selfish needs for the Iraqi oil the have lead our military to an unnessecary war, leading to countless deaths of troops and innocent civilians, which in turn will invoke more terrorists all over the world.
Allthough their false intentions seemed nobel at the time, their accusations have failed to materialise. With the death toll rising these people need to be withdrawn from power as like they done with the Iraqi leader. It was clear from the news reports that the Americain leader was not making the decisions and that the British leader was merely mislead into believing the dangers that the Americains portraid.
13. Spread the Truth about Lesbians, Bisexuals, and Transgendered People
In response to the religious right's continued effort to prevent American's from accepting, respecting, and embracing all sexual identities.
We are a group of American Citizens who believe that people of all sexual orientations deserve the same rights, respect, and acceptance that straight citizens recieve from society. We are NOT a group of people pushing a 'gay agenda' but simply a mixture of straight, gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered people, who have spiritual beliefs, and a belief that all of us are equal. We are attempting to inform others that homosexual people are not pedophiles, sex addicts, and predators. We know and support same sex couples who are in healthy commited relationships. Lastly, we believe that a person's sexual orientation in no way influences his or her ability to be a parent or leader to children.
Thanthai Periyar is the only true leader of dravadians. Anna is a coward who back stabbed Thanthai Periyar. It is Karunanidhi who has not given a respectful Samadhi to Periyar as he did for Anna. The reason - He wants to project the Anna as the Great leader only to make the generations to come to beleive that Anna is the Mahatma kind of leader for tamils. We have give such respect only to Thanthai periyar and not to this man who cheated tamils by saying " 3 KG rice for 1 rupee". Hence AIADMK should take away MGR samathi to their own land and DMK or AIADMK to take away the Anna Samadhi to a common private land, When Thanthai Periyar can be at EGMORE why not Anna at Mambalam and MGR at St. Thomas Mount...?
Let Idaho be a leader in the promotion of rights and privileges of all adults in our State. With our nation at war, it brings to mind that the brave men and woman of Idaho can make the decision to put their lives on the line for the sake of the nation; it only makes sense that they can also make the decision to have a cold beer.
If one is old enough to vote for the person that ultimately decides the fates of not only the State, but of this great nation, that same person deserves to make a personal choice regarding whether or not they wish to consume a glass of chardonnay. If a person is liable for choices they make regarding laws and can be held as a "responsible adult" at the age of eighteen, then that person should have the same privilege of deciding if they would like to toast the bride at a wedding, or the newest addition to his or her own family with a glass of champagne. This is a privilege that would not only benefit the men and women of Idaho that fall under the current drinking age; it would also benefit the businesses of Idaho.
In May 2003 a Target Assets Protection employee turned in his 2 week notice. He was harassed because of his religon. He became fed up with the harassment and had a verbal altercation with the Target Team Leader who harassed him. Target decided to reprimand the employee and not the Team Leader.
Before the employee's two weeks were up he was given his two weeks wages, and told to just leave. He was escorted out by another level three. That employee is not filing a discrimination claim against Target.
