Petition Tag - inadequate
1. Urgent priority for fair, adequate and affordable homes
Thousands of residents are affected by the worsening housing crisis. Further benefit cuts are forcing people into homelessness and is likely to send low and middle income families into a state of poverty, unable to provide food or heating due to extortionate renting costs. Many people are forced to live in inadequate, unsuitable, unfair conditions!
Urgent immediate action is called for by both the Government and Local council.
2. CALL TO END AUSTRALIA’S INVOLVEMENT IN THE WAR IN AFGHANISTAN
Reasons are as outlined in the petition.
3. MaidaFloodAction: Flood Relief for Maida Vale/Hill
Homes and businesses in Maida Hill / Maida Vale were flooded yet again in July 09 - the most recent of several floods. We believe this is due to inadequate drainage, and sewer capacity that can't handle even short bursts of heavy rain. It cannot be allowed to happen again.
THE PETITION IS PART OF THE MAIDA FLOOD ACTION CAMPAIGN. THIS APPROACH HAS BEEN SUCCESSFUL BEFORE; The Kensal Green area flooded in 2007 has had action taken by Thames Water to address the problem.
Even if your property wasn’t flooded this time, if you live in the area, it’s at risk in the future. Please support our efforts to prevent future flooding by adding your signature.
4. End Live Animal Exports from Australia
June 26, 2003
While death and suffering has been endemic throughout the history of the live export industry, Australia's relentless drive to expand its market for 'live exports' has resulted in a corresponding increase in casualties associated with the long-haul overseas trade in live cattle over the past 7 years.
With the resumption of the live sheep trade with Saudi Arabia in 2000, there are now even larger numbers being exported to the Middle East.
After the stress of transportation, all the surviving cattle and sheep face death on foreign soil, many into countries which have no animal welfare laws or, at best, inadequate laws.
They will usually be killed without pre-stunning and often even without adequate restraint facilities. Animals Australia has eye-witness harrowing accounts of slaughter facilities and methods.
The result is inherent and persistent suffering.
