543. Don't cut funding for the Elyria Public Library System
The Ohio government is proposing to cut funding to the Elyria Public Library System. This cut will force the libraries in Elyria and Lorain to close, leaving only one library in Lorain that will be open only two days a week. This will cause many people to lose their jobs. The libraries are an important part of our society, helping with research, along with recreation.
Please sign our petition and save our libraries. Don't let the government take away one of the few important things left in this world.

We strongly oppose the plan of the Tamil Nadu government to demolish Queen Mary's College, as this college is one of the most historic and a land mark of Chennai.

The necessity and urgency of fair and accurate oversight of the 2004 US Presidential Elections is of paramount concern for hundreds of thousands of people who know for fact that their vote did not count. Whether it was by means of physically preventing voting at the polls, an intentional miscount of their vote, or purposeful deception that rendered their vote ineligible, a significant portion of the American population does not feel that the 2000 Presidential Election was executed with democracy and fairness in mind.
The American people have not been given any reason to believe that 2004 Presidential Election will be any different.
546. Stop the proposed demolition of Queen Mary's College, Chennai
It has recently come to our attention that the Government of TamilNadu is proposing to demolish the buildings housing Queen Mary's College, Chennai. We are alarmed at this possible action.
"There is nothing that solidifies and strengthens a Nation like reading the Nation's history, whether that History is recorded in books or embodied in customs, institutions and monuments" (J.Anderson)
The Queen Mary's College, Chennai is both an institution and a monument. Set up in 1914, it was the first women's college in Chennai and the second in the South. A rich educational tradition and the experience of
a long history define the institution that is Queen Mary's College. Several of the college buildings including Pentland House (1915), Stone House (1918) and Jeypore House (1921) are vintage monuments and have
been declared as heritage buildings by the Heritage Committee of the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority. This educational institution with its striking architecture has been one of the proud
landmarks of Chennai, helping define and continuing to contribute to the personality of the city. It is soon to celebrate its centenary in befitting manner.
Many of the buildings have been recently renovated and equipped with modern facilities with the help of a grant from the Department of Education. An effort by the alumnae has been underway to raise contributions to the 'building fund' set up to restore earlier buildings requiring more extensive repair and reconstruction. Plans
have been drawn for proposed improvements and are currently in the implementation stage.
It is therefore with great shock and dismay that we recently learnt of the plans of the Government to pull down this prestigious college and replace it with a Secretariat building.
Queen Mary's College is located on the Marina in an atmosphere conducive to learning, and offers education of the highest standard to more than 4000 students. The College is rooted in a strong sense of
responsibility to its surrounding community. It is committed to providing educational opportunities for students from less-privileged backgrounds to realize their potential. Today, most of the students
hail from lower middle class and labour class families, many of them first generation students. The 25 degree courses offered are a constantly evolving mix of the traditional and the unorthodox, tailored
to meet the unique needs of the community it serves. Always a pioneer in educational circles, Queen Mary's College has been the one of first to offer rare courses including physical education, three Home Science
Degrees, Tourism and Travel Management, Music and Functional English.
One of the best ways to preserve a country's heritage and pay tribute to its history is to maintain and restore ancient buildings, to retain a legacy for future generations to understand the country's great and
glorious cultural richness. We fear that the Government's proposed move to demolish Queen Mary's College lacks vision in this regard. The move will only serve to erode social, and educational values that have been
built over decades and deprive deserving lower middle class female students of an immensely valuable college education that uplifts and empowers.

Animal abuse in Spain has gone back years. Bulls are shameless slaughtered for sport, goats are dangled headfirst out of second-story windows, geese are tortured until their heads come off, and donkeys are tied to the back of vehicles until there strength is out, at which point they are dragged along the streets. All for sport. This cruel for of animal abuse is completely legal and attended like a sporting event for the people of Spain.

550. Ban on Handheld Cellphones While Driving in North Carolina
One thousand people die each each year from car accidents caused by people distracted on cell phones. Outlawing the use of handheld cell phones while driving would greatly reduce this number. THis law has already been passed in New York, so it would be wonderful if North Carolina could be the next state to pass such a law.

Due to the lack of law for animal protection in Romania anyone can kill an animal without being punished.

552. Free zoo-prisoned chimp-girl Toney!
At a zoo in Malaysia, Zoo Negeri Johore, twenty-five-year-old chimpanzee Toney has sat in a small, poor area since she was a baby. She is a gift to a South-East-Asian sultan from Africa, but has neither lived with him, nor with any other "family". Most of the time, she has been all alone on her cold, stony floor for all her life. Friends of animals (in and outside Malaysia) have tried to have Toney (and one lately arrived male companion) moved to Chimfunshi Wildlife Orphanage, where a place is ready for them. The zoo, for which the government is responsible, says they will only release them if they get other chimps in return. We think you don't act that way with animals - you should think of what's best for them!

A petition to force the United States government to only purchase paper made out of 100% recycled fibers; to reduce energy use, deforestation, landfill overflowage, and waterway pollution (hydrogen peroxide, which is usually used to whiten recycled paper, does not pollute our waterways).

A monarchy is a government headed by royalty and in Canada, that's the Queen. A new study says the monarchy and the British crown costs Canadians $34 million dollars a year. The money is partly used to pay for Royal visits like the one happening in October when the Queen is coming. We think the money would be better spent on other things. Last Friday (October 4th, 2002), John Manley declared that abandoning the monarchy when the queen's reign ends would be a better thing for Canada. 557. Save Life of Student Leader Nestor RodrÃguez Lobaina
On August 21, 2001 we were informed that Nestor RodrÃguez Lobaina, president of the organization Young Cubans for Democracy, had been savagely beaten in the Guantanamo prison were he is serving a six year prison term for his activities as political dissident. During the beating he suffered a fractured jaw and contusions through out his body. He was transferred to the provincial hospital in Guantanamo. Arriving at the hospital he received another beating despite his head being sealed in plaster and leaving him immobilized. A guard named Manuel hopped on top of him and beat him. He was then placed in a punishment cell without lighting or air-conditioning, nor had he been fed for the previous day.
Amnesty International Urgent Action 169/99 Prisoner of conscience
CUBA Nestor Rodriguez Lobaina
Political activist Nestor Rodriguez Lobaina was arbitrarily arrested on 11 July 1999, and his whereabouts are now unknown. Amnesty International considers him a prisoner of conscience, detained solely for exercising his right to freedom of expression. Under harsh new legislation aimed at silencing dissent, he could face a long prison sentence.
Nestor Rodriguez Lobaina, who is president of the Movimiento de Jovenes Cubanos por la Democracia (MJCD), Cuban Youth Movement for Democracy, was arrested at the MJCD coordinator's home in Santiago de Cuba. It is believed he was arrested because he had begun a hunger strike in solidarity with a group of dissidents in Havana known as the Ayunantes de Tamarindo 34, Tamarindo 34 Hunger-strikers, who began a 40-day hunger strike on 7 June to demand the release of all political prisoners and respect for human rights in Cuba.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION Nestor Rodriguez Lobaina has been arrested several times. He was last detained for several days in February and March 1999. He was detained from 7-15 December 1998 after making a personal protest at the Cuban government's refusal to let him leave the country to attend a conference in Paris marking the 50th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (see UA 307/98, AMR 25/28/98, 9 December 1998, and follow-up, AMR 25/29/98, 18 December 1998). He had previously been arrested in April 1997 and sentenced to 18 months' imprisonment for "disrespect", and "resisting authority", after criticising the Fourteenth Youth and Student Festival.
He was also arrested on 6 June 1996, reportedly in connection with the MJCD's peaceful attempts to organize a movement for university reform in the capital. He was sentenced to 12 months' "restricted liberty", as well as five years of "destierro", internal exile or confinement, in his home town of Baracoa, Guantanamo province.
On 16 February 1999 Cuba's National Assembly passed tough new legislation aimed at combatting political dissent, called the "Ley de Proteccion de la Independencia Nacional y la Economia de Cuba", "Law for the Protection of the National Independence and Economy of Cuba". Under this new law, dissidents and journalists deemed to be working against the Cuban state reportedly face up to 20 years' imprisonment. The law calls for seven to 15 years' imprisonment for passing information to the United States that could be used to bolster anti-Cuban measures such as the US economic blockade of the island, rising to 20 years if the information is acquired surreptitiously. The legislation also bans the ownership, distribution or reproduction of "subversive materials" from the US government, and proposes jail terms of up to five years for collaborating with radio and TV stations and publications deemed to be assisting US policy.

In response to the reference cited order, it is my sincere prayer to the District Collector, Jalna to exam the following allegations levelleved against Mr. Kamalakar Phad, Tahsildar, Jalna
1) Is there any license is granted to the said officer to loot public properties by all possible illegal acts?
If not so, how the competent higher authorities are silent against his grave irregularities amounts to missappropriation of crores of rupees.
In case if the Government administration is in such an ignorant way without proper regular checks means, there is every possible scope to lose Government propeties easily, shall certainly be questioned in the appropriate court of law for suitable directions to the Government to set right the akward situation.
Although common public notices and exposes the delequency, what about the
role of probing authorities and the higher authorities concerned in the
regards, perhaps bribed and maintained silent for illegal self gratification.
2) In the administration of Malke Ganpatty Sansthan, Mr. kamlakar phad
just swallowed lacks of rupees without maintaining proper records. The dates
of accounting the ammounts into the banks and the expenditure booked for
the purposes shall exposes the real picture of Mr. Phad, if the authrities
concerned are really interested to detect the delinquency in this regards.
3) The said site is misutilised by MR PHAD ,to extreme extent as a personal
picnic spot to enjoy all possible illegal pleasures and disturbed the sanctityof the premises. This os the main sin he committed ,although being a responsible officer, shall definately be punished by the Almighty.
4) Moreover, after enjoying rupees four lacks bribe, he alloted the
construction work of the Malke Ganapathy temple to a most corrupt and indeasent contactor of no proper experience, the estimate of the consruction itself is the proof, if it is examined properly.
5) Mr. Phad colluded with Mr. Bikulal Indani and enjoyed ten lakhs bribe to declare the property worth of crores of rupees of Gajanan mandir to the said person on manupulation and fabrication of Government records.
On what grounds, he favoured to Mr. Bikulal Indani to dispose the said properties shall be examined and detect the deficiency. The said property is already soldout to private parties.
6) In the same lines the valuable property of Paanjarapool Goshala, cleared in favour of Mr. Saklecha and enjoyed nearly seven lakhs bribe.
The grounds of declaration in this concerned shall also be examined suitably.
7) Valuable properties of Azad Maidan declares to individuals without
abserving the rules and regularations policies of Govt. of Maharashtra and
did every posible illegal acts only for self gratification.
The possibilities to do favour to individuals shall be examined properly.
8) During his entire tenure, he missused the vested powers only for self
gratification to manupulate the records of kerocine distribution and swallowed
lakhs of rupees. The records itself stands as concerte proofs, if properly
examined.
9) The valuable sites worth of crores of rupees belongs to Late. Shehemsha [Rackewala] in the locality of Lakkadkot, Jalna, Mr Phad distribute the sites irregularly to others on violation of the policies and has given possesion to outers. Many of the Tahasil Staff are ordered to be in suspension except Mr. Kamalakar Phad, since he maintains good relations to all the competent
higher authorities on arranging major share in the bribery perhaps.
10) Irregualarly he transferred the deposites from Jilla Madhyavarthi
Bank to Grameen Bank only for illegal gratification to cause the loss of
nearly sixteen Lakhs to Government.
11) Moreover he swallowed the funds of Sanjay Gandhi Niradhar Yojana aimed
to disturbute to handicaped persons, only while fabrication of Govt. records
12) At his previous station while he was in Aurangabad, he was ordered
for many enquires against his misappropriation of crores of rupees of public funds,but only on throwing huge ammount as bribe he could escape from the punishments.
13) Bribred Badrinarayan Vyas, the employee of Gayatri Sansthan is utilised
as a pet of Mr. Kamalakar Phad and did all possible fraud in the Sansthan
only to ruin the name and reputaton of the staff of engineering cell and
to dumped on hot plate while exposing deferently into the looks of the
entire trust board so as to take suitable action against the engineering
staff.
14) Becauseof his irresponsiblity against the collection of taxes Mr.
Oza and others are subjected to grave mental torture by the tahsildar Mr
phad. If the records of the said issue is properly examined, his real picture
to tap illegal money from the public shall certainly be exposed to every
officers look.
15) As per the fabrication of Government records and irregular maintainance of the files of revenue department , the property of juncture of survey no. 183 and 184 is under pocession of Mr. Vinaykumar Kothari.The entire records are cooked up properly only for illegal self gratification.
Only on the blessings of Mr. Phad, Mr. Kothari took the pocession in this
regards. Even after proper complaints, Mr Phad maintained great silence
only for gratification, althoug being a tahsildar of Jalna.
16) Only because of the reason I disclosed his corrupt life, he got angry
and developed personal grudges against me and aranged professional gundas
to murder me.
In my absence my assistance are seriously warned and declared the utilimatum to leave Jalna within a day, otherwise, he challanged to close the matter of entire our batch.
17) Although it is brought to the notice of the Sadar Bazar Police Station, concerned authority are silent and did not record any complaint in this regards.
Moreover, colluded with Mr. phad and threatened our people to leave Jalna, otherwise the police too declared to resort illegal steps to vacate our people from Jalna and also to the extreme extent threatened our people to leave Jalna.
Such a way entire our batch is subjected to serious mental torture by the police of Sadar Bazar Police Station. Because of the reason one of our menbers Mr Gurappa left Jalna at extreme fearful condition against the police threat resorted by the Sadarbazaar Police station.
And regurly the said police comes to our residence and seriously warns to
leave Jalna, only to oppress the real voice against the corruption of Mr.
Phad.
18) The District Collector Jalna is sincerely prayed to provide proper
security to entire our team , as we are under grave life threat by the local
gundas and also by the bribed local police too.
19) In case if the district collector not interfers into the matter
there is no other option only to urge the appropriate court of law for
proper protection to our life.
20) Anyhow National Human Right commission also is contacted and a case
is registered in this regards for proper action to initiate suitable punishments.
How the Government Machinery particularly police can act to the illegal tunes of Mr. Phad ,shall only be decided in the Court of National Human Right Commission.
21) The district Collector is sincerely requested to sanction me proper permission to expose the grave deliquency of the corrupt administration of Mr. Phad particularly in the allotment of proper land to wing roads to Jalna.
22) As per personal statements of Mr. Thaire Tahsildar Badnapur, it is
expressed that how Mr. Kamalakar Phad continues in the department without
any impositon of suspension against the department enquires, so far initiated
against him,shall be questioned in the court of competent jurisdiction.
23) The Charity commissioner, Aurangabad who felt gulity against the
delinquent administration of Mr. Kamalakar Phad to handle the administration
of Malke Ganapatty Sansthan has also taken up the issue for enquiry. The
collections of Chowties of every ritual months and connected transactions
will definetely prove the said administration of Mr Phad is completely fraud.
24) As per his own statements Mr. Phad expreses that he has very good
relation with Honourable Chief Minister Shri. Vilasrao Deshmukh though his
close freind Mr. Deshmukh who is brother of the chief minister. And declares that since he maintains good relation with him, no one can touch him even he loots the Govt. property for illegal self gratification.
Is it true ?
No not at all. Anyhow shall defenetely be questioned in the court of competent
jurisdiction.
25) No responsible minister or officer of the Government while is being binder to law of the land of great india shall support the illegal elements like Mr. Kamalakar Phad to loot Government properties by all possible illegal acts.
26) The illegal expectations and senseless declarations of Mr. Phad is
totally wrong only to create illusive image in the public especially in the
circle of Government officials , he created the rumers and stories by the
way of illegal tacties only to threaten the innocent public and officers
concerned to maintain silence against his illegal activities ammounts to
misappropriation of crores of rupees.
27) In case my services are utilised and proper permission is sanctioned to expose the deliquency, I will put forth many to many evidences avilable in the Government records in the control of the concerned officers. Otherwise, there is no other option except question the same in the court of competent jurisdiction.
28) In case if I fail to prove I am ready to take any sort of punishments
proposes by the Government.
As the records of the relevant issues are in the control of the Government oficers concerned, so I cannot give the concrete proofs in this regards. If I am permitted to verify the records of the Govenment, I shall put forth the every possible concerte proof in this regards to charge sheet Mr. Phad against the allegation levelled above.
29) Any how the issue shall be questioned in the appropriate court of
law to call for the records for proper check to detect deliquency to initiate
proper punishment in this regards.
30) Since the probing authorities are silent for gratification, being
a citizen of India, I will bear the responsiblity to expose the deliquency
in this regards, even then I am resorted to any extent of illegal life threats by the bribed police and paid goondas too.
The district collector Jalna is once again sincerely prayed to
take appropriate action to detect delinquency in this regard. The immediate action in this matter shall certainly be appriciated by all citizens of greatest land of India , particularly by the residents of Jalna town. with respectful regards.

The only place where the dingos and foxes have not conquered is Tasmania. But now, the devils could be gone, never to return by 2015, due to the founding of foxes in Tasmania a few months ago.
The government of Tasmania have agreed to inject a vaccine into the foxes in Tasmania, the vaccine is call immunocontraception. The vaccine tries to convince the immune system to believe that spern and eggs are unwanted invaders, then that will prevent fertilisation.

was changed in August 2003 when Chief Minister Orlando Smith took office.
Later in this same year the Caribbean Rastafari Organisation held a week
long summit in Tortola.
Former Chief Minister O'Neal was the author of the 1980 ordinance and repeatedly refused to lift the ban despite opposition to it. The order was removed following a public survey which showed a majority of islanders opposed the ban. 564. Re-introduce Capital Punishment for Child Killers
In the light of the recent abduction and murder of Jessica and Holly I believe that capital punishment should be re-introduced. Although our Government have signed the Human Rights Bill and say we cannot bring this back. I believe there is no such word as "Can't" and also that the Human Rights of the children have been taken away. Adults who kill children for their own gratification have no right to be protected by the Human Rights bill or campaign. So I believe this argument does not stand. Children have the right to live their lives unmolested by perverts.

Domestic violence is the leading cause of death and injury to women between the ages 15-44. Married women are 9 times more likely to be killed by their spouses than by a stranger. In Canada, 60% of female homicide victims are killed by their spouses. On average most women are assualted 35 times before calling the police. 1 out of 8 women, are or have been abused by their partners.
Around 70 women in Canada die each year at the hands of their male partner.

I am writing this personal appeal to the world because by August, I may be incarcerated in prison for having exercised my God-given and constitutionally protected freedom of speech in Canada.
In my work as an advocate and fighter for the rights of aboriginal people, I have discovered that an American conglomerate known as NAWAPA - The North
American Water and Power Alliance - is coveting the lands of native people in central British Columbia, with the assistance of corrupt and violent native
politicians and the government of Canada.
NAWAPA plans to dam and divert three major river systems in our province into the United States through a massive water reservoir known as the Rocky Mountain Trench.

As a result, the lands of thousands of indigenous people in north-central British Columbia will be flooded and their way of life destroyed forever.
Some of the most powerful native politicians in this region are dispossessing their own people from their lands to pave the way for the NAWAPA project. According to eyewitnesses Frank Martin and Helen
Michel of the Dene-Carrier nation, chiefs of the Carrier - Sekani Tribal Council in Prince George, BC
have employed violence, extortion, and even murder to secure trap lines and other lands from their own people.
According to Frank and Helen, and other Tribal Council activists, these chiefs are also implicated in criminal actions like drug trafficking, prostitution,
and the exploitation of children in organized pedophile rings in the Prince George-Moricetown area. These allegations have been substantiated by
journalists, lawyers, and sources within the Carrier-Sekani Tribal Council.
Two weeks ago, one of these accused chiefs, Ed John, commenced a lawsuit against Frank and Helen, myself,
and other critics, to permanently silence and incarcerate us if we persist in our investigation of
crimes against aboriginal people in his territory.
The law firm handling Ed John's case - Blake, Cassells and Graydon of Vancouver - is closely tied to
the government of Canada through its head, Marvin Storrow, who is a close friend and confident of Prime
Minister Jean Chretien.
Chretien has not only recently been cited at the International Criminal Court in The Hague for complicity in Genocide of native people in Canada, but
his government, like Chief Ed John, is committed to the NAWAPA project through its obligations under the NAFTA agreement with the USA.
There can be no clearer case than this one of a modern state employing puppet indigenous leaders to dispossess entire peoples in the interests of foreign
multinational corporations. Nor can there be a more obvious example of a government attacking and silencing dissidents than what myself and native
activists like Frank and Helen are presently up against.
Besides this lawsuit, we are experiencing regular death threats, physical assaults, and other
harrassment designed to isolate and break us.
We need all persons of conscience to rally now to our defense, and to the aboriginal people of central
British Columbia.
We ask that you do the following:
1. Alert Amnesty International and other human rights groups about our case and the ongoing Genocide of
native peoples in Canada, and ask them to adopt us as prisoners of conscience.
2. Contact the government of Canada, and Prime Minister Jean Chretien, and demand that their covert harrassment of opponents of NAWAPA and Ed John cease.
3. Contact Marvin Storrow, Q.C., at Blake, Cassells and Graydon in Vancouver, BC, and demand that this
firm halt their lawsuit (#S012186) and campaign of harrassment of myself and other critics of Chief Ed

4. Acquaint yourself with the past and present legal Genocide of native peoples in our country by accessing

568. Take A Stand Against Child Abuse and Bullying
Child abuse...Bullying...they aren't the same thing but have the same message: "Innocent children being HURT, scarred FOREVER". Governments MUST take a stand against this.
Me, the creator of this petition, is just 15 years old...Yes, I am young. To most of you adults, I'm just a child. But a child can have VERY strong opinions, and mine goes to this subject.
Even if I was never a victim of child abuse, I have been a victim of bullying for many, many years. In school, I growed up alone, or when I wasn't, I was just being hurt. All this to say...I know the pain it inflicts in people who are at the mercy of the bullies...and I'd do anything for a child not to have to suffer it...
Everyone in the world today is extremely strong but at the same time of an incredible weakness. Everyone in the world today will make mistakes, will lose his way at times. When those times happen... it's support we need... we all need it one day or another... maybe one day, it will be you...
...so today, please sign this petition for a child in who needs support or encouragement. To let know to the government that the world's children are being beaten down before even standing up. To let know to th e government that we all care for the esrth's children and that we want measures to be taken, plans to be made, laws to be created, to stop the young, innocent ones, from becoming heart broken before even learning the true meaning of love....
569. Abduction and childrens passports
My grandson was abducted on 20th February 2001, one month after his first birthday. My daughter-in-law (visitors status) was allowed to apply, for, and get, a passport for my grandson, without my sons' consent or signature. My daughter-in -law had a Japanese passport and my grandson had a Canadian passport, both of them had different surnames, and they were allowed to pass customs and airport security "NO QUESTIONS ASKED". 570. Stop animal abuse before the Greece Olympics 2004
Animal abuse is widespread in Greece and includes starvation, neglect, cruelty and poisoning. Poisoning of both strays and owned pets happens every day; documented witness reports of this practice are abundant and have even been shown on Greek television. Poisoning is indiscriminate, and can affect children, adults and animals alike. Offenders must be prosecuted and fined for this illegal activity.
Given the current frequency of poisoning cases, it is also a concern that the numbers will step up, as the country prepares to host the Olympics 2004. Tourists are horrified at the suffering they see whilst on holidays in Greece, many vowing never to return. Given the magnitude of the problem, the Greek government needs to take an active role, working together with private animal welfare groups around Greece. Give the strays of Greece a sporting chance to survive the Olympics 2004!
