301. Petition for a National U.S. Cultural Policy
The existing resources, capabilities, and expertise of the arts and cultural sector should be recognized and developed as a prime resource for national recovery and regeneration. Maximizing this resource to rebuild and sustain our cities and advance our nation, with a policy aimed at integrating arts, culture and their professionals into a wide range of initiatives, should be the charge of a dedicated department within the newly established Office of Urban Policy.
REQUEST 2
Artistic creation is the primary activity of the $166 billion U.S. arts and culture sector, and we as a nation should support it with an integrated strategy. The federal government should establish a Secretary of Culture and a Cultural Policy Agency that can understand current research and trends and set strategies and guidelines for the optimal allocation of cultural development funds.
REQUEST 3
An effective arts policy must understand that the non-profit arts and culture sector is an integral component of the highly lucrative creative industries sector, and therefore eligible to participate in small business and economic development stimulus programs and strategies.
302. Bring back the Cervical Cancer Vaccination
In the budget for 2009 the funds for the cervical cancer vaccination for 12 year old girls have been removed. If parents are to pay for the vaccination it will cost in the region of 600 euro which many cannot afford.
It is understandable that some things may need to lose funds but this could be a life saving vaccination. We all know people that suffer from the disease... how do you feel about the fact that our Government has decided not to help prevent it.
Cervical cancer is also known as the silent killer!
303. King Peter II Karadjordjevic and Queen Maria Karadjordjevic
His Majesty King Peter II
King Peter II, King of Yugoslavia, was the firstborn son of King Alexander I and Queen Maria of Yugoslavia. King Peter II was born in Belgrade 6 September 1923, his Godparents were King George VI and Queen Elizabeth (later Queen Mother of Great Britain). His education commenced at The Royal Palace after which he went to Sandroyd School in England, which he left after his father’s assassination in 1934. Since King Peter II was 11 years old and underage at the time of his father’s assassination, a regency was formed consisting of three regents including his great uncle Prince Paul Karadjordjevic.
In 1939 at the beginning of the World War II, the Kingdom of Yugoslavia found itself surrounded by countries who had joined the Axis as allies of Nazi Germany. Prince Paul’s decision in 1941 to sign a non-aggression pact with Germany resulted in severe protests in the country and this led to a government crisis and a Coup d’Etat by Yugoslav officers on 27 March 1941. As a result of the coup, King Peter II was proclaimed of age.
The Yugoslav Army was unprepared to resist the ensuing invasion by Nazi Germany and Yugoslavia was occupied within eleven days. King Peter II was forced to leave the country along with the Yugoslav Government – initially to Greece, Palestine and then to Egypt. King Peter II joined other monarchs of German occupied Europe in London in June 1941. There he was regarded by the people of Yugoslavia as the symbol of resistance against Nazism. King Peter II completed his education at Cambridge University and joined the Royal Air Force.
Despite the collapse of the Yugoslav army two rival resistance groups were formed. The first resistance group was the loyalist one led by Yugoslav Army Colonel Dragoljub Mihailovic who was later promoted to General and made the Minister of Defence of the Yugoslav government in exile. The other resistance group was that of communist Partisans led by the communist party leader Josip Broz - later known to the world as Tito. A bitter civil war followed during the German occupation.
The Allies, having initially supported Mihailovic later placed their support behind Tito. The Partisans entered Belgrade in 1944 in the wake of Soviet tank brigades and illegally established a Communist Government. In November 1945, the monarchy was illegally abolished without a referendum and Yugoslavia remained a totalitarian single party state under the League of Communists for more than four decades.
King Peter II never abdicated. In 1947 the Communist Government abolished the nationality and confiscated the properties of the Royal Family. Initially King Peter II lived in exile in London with his wife (he married the Princess Alexandra of Greece and Denmark in 1944, she was the daughter of King Alexander of the Hellenes and Aspasia Manos) and his son Crown Prince Alexander was born in 1945.
King Peter II spent the last years of his life in America. After a long and grave illness, King Peter II died 3 November 1970 in Denver Hospital Colorado, and he was buried at the St. Sava Monastery Church in Libertyville Illinois. He is the only King buried in the United States. The King’s remains will be transferred to the Karadjordjevic dynasty Mausoleum of St. George in Oplenac, Serbia where His Majesty will join other members of The Royal Family.
304. The Stand for Change
Our recommendations are:
1) That all Health Care Aids and Personal Support Workers should be regulated, organized and accountable.
2) That there be stricter screening of Personal Support Workers before enrollment in courses.
3) That all schools are providing proper education and training of Personal Support Workers. We need more quality, not just quantity.
4) That the practice of handing out Personal Support Worker certificates to keep Canada's unemployment rate down, be ceased.
5) That a much needed support group, to help Health Care Aids and Personal Support Workers deal with the many issues that face them every day, be established.
6) That a stronger network be built with employers, registered staff and the public, so we can enhance the lives of our seniors, eliminate seniors abuse and improve working conditions for front line workers.
305. Draft Tommy Lee Jones for Texas Governor 2010
Why support the same old politicians? Why not support a regular Texan?
For real change, vote Tommy Lee.
306. No Confidence Votes Against Obama-Biden
The 2009 Obama-Biden administration has already demonstrated their intent is to release confusion, discord, distrust, and an attack against the American people and the U.S. Constitution, itself.
Whereas, before they have even been installed into the Office of President and Vice President, they and many of their supporters have continued to disregard and disrespect the Constitution and the American traditions, values, mores, and God.
Whereas, while our military are fighting on foreign shores and at home to protect our rights, their families and ours are being systematically stripped of all rights.
Whereas, at a time of severe national crisis with people losing their jobs, healthcare, homes, and basic sustenances, Barack Obama has not ceased to publicly and arrogantly flaunt his multimillions of dollars purportedly received in multiples of dollar contributions during his electoral campaigns, his own having started in 2004, at the Democratic National Convention and did not end until the November 4, 2008, Presidential general election.
Whereas, Barack Obama has stated many times that, as President, he will form a coalition government of local, national, and international partnerships to decide issues for Americans with him.
Whereas, Barack Obama has stated his plans are to create a participatory form of governance rather than the constitutionally mandated representative form of governance by a sitting Congress, and such actions, if he is allowed to follow through, would facilitate a constitutional crisis of monumental proportions and forever change this nation's credibility at home and abroad as a sovereign democratic Republic and leader of the free world.
Whereas, Barack Obama has proved by his actions that he has no love of God or country, and he has no respect for authority, except his own.
Whereas, Barack Obama has no administrative or military experience and we are a nation at war, but he is not stable and decisive when called for.
Whereas, we do not believe Barack Obama is committed to protecting, preserving, and defending our constitution, by his failure to adhere to even the election laws with impunity and without accountability to anyone and that must no longer stand to be the case.
And,
Whereas, all citizens of this nation, whether natural born or nationalized, we have the right to expect our elected leaders to uphold their vows taken when first admitted to those sacred halls of government. And, no less shall we expect, also, from the President of the United States of America.
307. No To A Coalition Government
The Liberal, NDP and Bloc parties are trying to form a coalition government to run our country less than 2 months after Canadians elected a minority government.
308. Equal Opportunities for Young People in State Care
From 1 July 2007 the Queensland Government introduced a new graduated licensing system to reduce fatalities on our roads, particularly among young motorists. Young drivers aged 17-24 are twice as likely to be involved in fatal crashes than drivers aged between 25-59. That is why the Queensland Government introduced new laws to change the licensing system for young drivers.
The new changes introduced by Queensland Transport included the introduction of a logbook system to ensure learners get a good balance of experience before they drive solo on the road. Learner drivers are required to complete 100 hours of supervised on-road driving experience.
The extension of the learner period to 12 months and the completion of 100 hours of driving experience will expose learners to driving in various road conditions. During this time, they gain valuable experience, including driving at night. The requirement to accumulate 100 hours of supervised on-road driving experience before undertaking a practical driving assessment highlights the importance of the learner licence stage and ensures the learner accumulates extensive driving experience under a range of driving conditions before applying for a provisional licence.
Since the changes in law, many young people in state care face many barriers when trying to obtain their driving licence, such as foster carers not having enough time, residentials not having insurance for young people to drive company or youth worker owned cars and the average driving lesson costing $47 an hour and the likelihood of the Department of Child Safety providing an average of $4700 for each young person wanting to access there licence isn't high either.
309. Against the New Alcohol Restrictions in NSW
In October, Premier Nathan Rees announced new alcohol restrictions to try and kerb alcohol fueled violence and excessive drinking in 48 bars/pubs/clubs across NSW.
These restrictions are:
-2am to 5am lockout
-No Alcohol is to be served within 30 minutes of closing

-Drinks are not to be served in glass containers
-NO SHOTS ARE ALLOWED
-A Limit of 4 Alcoholic drinks per person are allowed
-There will be a 10 minute time-out every hour where no alcohol will be served
310. No Coalition - A Petition to The Governor General of Canada
Democracy in Canada?
The Opposition Parties in the House of Commons have agreed to sign an accord between themselves to form a majority government in early December of 2008.
This action will bring about a constitutional crisis.
Sign this petition demanding that the Governor General require that this issue be taken to the people of Canada by way of an election.
311. "Baby P" Better Protection For Vulnerable Children & Practical Recommendations
In the light of the Baby P Tragedy, please petition 10 Downing Street to better protect vulnerable children and request that the government adopt the following recommendations for the future handling of children 'at risk' cases:
** Represents known areas where Baby P was badly let down
1.** If on 2 occasions the authorities (police/medical) advise against a child being returned to its family, Social Services should not be allowed to overrule this.
2.** Social workers should insist that all clothing be removed & chocolate/paint/ointment etc be cleaned off at every visit as these may hide a multitude of sins. Children old enough to speak may be too afraid to do so.
3.If a social worker strongly suspects physical abuse, they should remove the child immediately, with or without police aid, while the matter is investigated.
4.Social workers must make regular unannounced and out of hours visits.
5.If a social worker is denied access to a child or living quarters by its carers or suspects that a carer is pretending not to be at home, then social workers should call on the police to gain immediate access, as the child may have already sustained serious injuries or be in poor physical condition.
6.If a carer says a child is with someone else, this must be verified immediately.
7.** If the carer fails to attend any appointment set by social services, the child must be seen without delay, as again they may be injured.
8.If abusive pet owners can be banned from keeping animals, a similar law should be in place to protect children from abusive carers or carers who allow a child to be abused or neglected. Why should children have less rights to protection than animals?
9.** If Social Services refer a child for assessment, the doctor must do a full examination.
10.** If someone is assigned by the council to check on or live with the child at risk's family, that person must be monitored to ensure they are performing their duties.
11.** If a carer tells social services or equivalent that they can't see anyone for a period of time, the child must be seen immediately before this is granted, as the child may be injured.
12.** A child's welfare must always take priority over keeping a family together.
13.Carers should be told that they won't be judged if they admit to not loving a child or that they resent looking after a child or that they simply can't cope and that they can choose to have the child put into care, if only temporarily.
14.All the above points must be made known to carers on the social workers first visit to ensure that carers are fully aware that it won't be so easy to hoodwink social workers, to make excuses or to hide signs of physical abuse and that there is only a small, finite number of chances to get it right if they don't want to lose a child.
15.Legal & child care costs may deter councils from taking child abuse cases to court. To stop this happening, there should be a central government fund in place for these expenses.
16. The NSPCC say that babies & toddlers are particularly vulnerable to physical abuse. Babies are at greatest risk of being murdered in their first year of life than any other age. It should therefore be compulsory for babies & toddlers to have health checks at least every 3 months, for the first year or two, to help detect any signs of neglect or physical abuse. If carers fail to attend a health check, social services should be alerted and the child seen without delay. Responsible carers already take their children to health centres regularly, so this system should only serve to highlight any irresponsible, neglectful or abusive carers.
17. Child abusers and those responsible for a child's death through abuse or neglect must be punished with tougher prison sentences and no parole. The current judicial system is far too lenient.
NOTES:
*'Social Worker' can also mean Health Visitor or equivalent.
*Please sign and forward onto friends and family.
*Please note that your email and street address will NOT be displayed on-line.
Thank you.
312. $700 billion bailout Money - Make the Government accountable
Corporate America and the banking institutions have been REWARDED WITH OUR MONEY for their irresponsible decisions.
Meanwhile, they are hoarding the money and not lending it out to help stimulate the economy and may be paying it out to their executives in bonuses (which is prohibited).
UPDATE 11/28/08: AIG to pay "retention bonuses" to executive bigwigs after they promised that no bonuses would be paid!

313. NSW - Fund the Beach Runner
A Petition of certain residents of the State of New South Wales state that Premier Nathan Rees should acknowledge the success of the Waverley Council subsidised Beach Runner Bus service.
The undersigned petitioners request that:
1. the Government to take on responsibility for the service on a permanent basis; and
2. the Government note that up to 400 cars per day on average were removed from the roads last summer, providing significant environmental benefit.
314. Alleviate Pollution and Poverty in Delhi
There is a government body called Delhi Pollution control committee existing in Delhi called DPCC basically established for controlling pollution in this national capital region (DELHI). I being an environment friendly citizen applied for a unit in prime industrial area of New Delhi only after installing and successfully running the required systems for controlling pollution and treatment of Water.
Inspite of giving all possible proofs to the department they made our consent application a big issue and keep on demanding huge amount of money from us which due to no other option we keet on giving them the amount whenever demanded from them. Since I had refused them bribe when they had their first visit after the application, they were exploiting us all the time. In the mean time they were providing consents to the people which were not having systems for controlling pollution installed at their polluting units at a nominal bribe of 12000 This procedure of providing consent to operate polluting manufacturing units after getting bribe and not installing pollution control measures is till today's date ie.27-06-2008 is kept on followed. I complained this matter to CVC (Central Vigilance Commission ) and CBI but of no use.
The member secretary Mrs. Naini Jayaseelan whose office is in secretariat building was continuously abusing me with words I have never heard. She even was torturing me of what kind of science graduation I have attained in front of excise commissioner and then deputy commissioner of DPCC Mrs. Debashree Mukherjee. She was agreeing sometimes and abusing me and my family other time.
315. Stop the ADI Site Development
Since 2004 the state government has been trying to develop the ADI site and and get rid of the resident kangaroos.
On the Resident Action Group (RAG), the animal welfare group trying to stop this development, website there are disturbing images taken by photographers of the inhumane experimental surgery undertaken to sterilise the female kangaroos and the euthanasure of their joeys. About 75% of the females had joeys. About 10-15% had broken necks from inadequate capture cages.
Blackberry bushes in release area catching many kangaroos which bled to death from the thorns.
316. No Censorship of Internet Content
The federal government intends to censor illegal content on the Internet, compulsorily. We will not be given a choice to view this material, unlike the previous net nanny proposal. It will simply become inaccessible by all Australians. These restrictions will put Australia on the same level as countries such as China, Cuba, Iran and North Korea.
See article “Net clamp on users” in the Courier Mail on Wednesday 29 October, 2008, page 5.
The problem lies with defining “illegal content”. So far euthanasia and pro-anorexia sites are on the chopping block. What’s next? Illegal content will be defined and redefined by the government from time to time as they see fit depending on their personal views and political stance. Senator Conroy himself admitted that he does not know what content the mandatory filter would bar. This is unacceptable and an intolerable restriction on our freedom of speech (which is the freedom to speak freely without censorship or limitation) and our freedom of information.
How far will this go? If this trend continues, then perhaps you might not be able to even read this petition soon, having been blocked by the government as being undesirable or anti-government.
We should at least retain our right to choose. People who do wish to have unrestricted access to the Internet should be able to opt for this. Government should not have unfettered control over our freedom of speech, expression and freedom of information.
317. Stop The Australian Internet Censorship
The Australian government has decided it would be a good idea to censor the Internet, making Australia an essentially Totalitarian state.
Sign this petition to stop this from happening!
318. Ban Plastic in India
I need not say how harmful plastic is! We are using plastic plentifully in our day to day needs which is polluting us to death indirectly.
The government has declared many rules and acts to stop/ban plastic but that's in the papers only. We all are also aware that this is harmful to domestic and wild animals also.
319. Daycares should be shut down if they have misdemeanor abuse charges
My children were abused in a daycare in Idaho. Then I found out that daycare would not be shut down because charges were misdemeanor charges not Felony.
The only way a daycare in Idaho can get shut down is if a child is killed or severely injured (felony). I have spoken with congress and head of daycare licensing and they have confirmed this information.
I am looking into taking this petition to the supreme court to protect all children!!!!!!!!!
320. DEMAND an end to any and all deficit spending
As President Ronald Reagan once said "You and I are told we must choose between a left, or right, but I suggest there is no such thing as a left or right. There is only an up or down."
We at "Let's Get this Right" agree with that statement and we recognize that the US economy is in enormous trouble. This includes Wall Street, the US Government, and every American living on main-street; no one is immune to the impact of the current economic situation.
When Wall Street needs help it turns to the government, when the government needs help it turns to the American people and when the American people need help, it is often too late for us to obtain help because the government has already over spent the tax dollars, fees and fines it collects as part of its daily function.
When it needs money for a spending bill, or a financial bailout, the government either cuts spending somewhere, shifts spending temporarily, raises taxes on the American people or simply prints more money.
321. How to Settle the Economic Crisis
I'm against the $85,000,000,000.00 bailout of AIG. Instead, I'm in favor of giving $85,000,000,000 to America in a "We Deserve It" dividend. To make the math simple, let's assume there are 200,000,000 bonafide U.S. Citizens 18+. Our population is about 301,000,000 +/- counting every man, woman and child. So 200,000,000 might be a fair stab at adults 18 and up.
So divide 200 million adults 18+ into $85 billion that equals $425,000.00.
322. Change for Spending Government Taxes and Extra Money
-Department of Health and Human Services (HHS)- 84% nursing homes did not meet federal standards governing quality of care. 94% did not meet minimum staffing levels.
-currently 1.5 million nursing home residents and in 2050 projected to quadruple to 6.6 million.
-last recorded in July 2008 (still growing) 201,628 prison inmates
-U.S General Accounting Office- proved nursing homes fail to meet federal health standards.
- hundreds of nursing home residents are victimized by: Negligent care, physical abuse, sexual abuse, or exploitation.
-Federal Law for nursing homes: "provide services and activities to attain or maintain the highest practicable physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being of each resident."
-In Texas, prison spending rose 346% and higher education spending rose 47%
-NAACP Washington Bureau
-studies show people receiving a higher ed. are more likely to achieve than to commit a crime or felony.
-Government spending taxes on convenient stores and cable TV for prisoners.
-Government officials use governments' extra money to remodel their own homes and etc.
323. Call for election in Trinidad and Tobago NOW!
On 31st August, 1962, Dr. Eric Eustase Williams brought Indepence for our country from the British Empire and formed the People's National Movement to bring democracy in politics in the country and everything became wonderful for the people.
Today, he might as well be still spinning in his grave, because, after 46 years, our country is in turmoil. crime has escalated, the economy is going down the drain and our conditions have not improved.
Our country cannot wait much longer for things to improve. The people of Trinidad and Tobago should take this vote of no confidence as a cue to call for another fresh elections so they will vote for a better political party that will deliver us for the pain and suffering already inflicted on us.
324. Citizens Solutions Council in the White House
On August 28, 2008, Barbara Marx Hubbard and Eleanor LeCain launched a BIPARTISAN appeal of the CITIZENS SOLUTIONS COUNCIL at the Big Tent of the DNC to form a PRESIDENT'S SOLUTION COUNCIL IN THE WHITE HOUSE. This citizen-based petition continues to generate grassroots support for this initiative.
325. Prime Ministerial address to the nation on climate change
A petition to urge Gordon Brown to make a televised address to the nation on climate change, launching a debate on how Britain should respond.
326. American Slavery Petition
The petition demands--through the voices of as many names as are on the list--further action and examination into the effects of slavery and, finally, a statement not only by American representatives, but by all Americans who believe in freedom, that this country will never accept slavery within its borders, and will do all it can to discourage it elsewhere.
Omar Khadr is a Canadian citizen who is currently being held at Guantanamo Bay. Khadr was fifteen years old at the time of his capture. He is currently the only Western detainee at Guantanamo Bay, as the Canadian government has refused to extradite him. He is on trial for crimes that he allegedly committed at the age of 15.
New videos have come to light that illustrate the serious mistreatment that Khadr has faced while in Guantanamo.
328. Say No to Images of Naked Children in Art
Art Monthly magazine published an image of a six-year-old girl on its July cover to protest against the recent furore over similar pictures by artist Bill Henson.
Art Monthly editor Maurice O'Riordan said he hoped the edition would "validate nudity and childhood as subjects for art'' and restore some "dignity to the debate".
Dr Jolley, co-author of an article about Bill Henson in this month's Art Australia magazine, said the cover was deliberately provocative.
"It could be a provocation or it could be simply saying no we aren't going to preemptively buckle, we aren't going to let this small pressure group dictate what we can and can't show,'' he said. "We aren't going to let the tabloid media ... dictate what we can and can't show and we are not going to let politicians, who are always wanting to jump on populist bandwagons dictate what we can and can't show.''
This petition is to show to the government and the art world that it is the COMMUNITY who is saying NO to the use of naked images of children.
329. Let Our Goverment School Students Learn
The learning of the Indonesian langauge and culture is of great importance to us in Australia. They are our neighbours, we can't ignore this issue.
The Australian Education Departments from all states do not allow travel for secondary school students to Indonesia due to a travel warning from DFAT. Private schools go. This is a another disadvantage for our state school students.
Travel possibilities for secondary students is the biggest motivator to learn a language. The study of Indonesian is being further marginalised to the detriment of students and their teachers.
330. Save Our Country Hospitals
On the 6th Of June 2008, The South Australian Government released the Country Health Care Plan, A plan that could see up to 43 regional hospitals downgraded.
This would force rural residence to travel further away from their families and communities to get the care they need.
