Riverina Citrus is in crisis. Fruit rots on the ground as the market is flooded by cheap Brazilian concentrates. Not only are these concentrates processed using poisonous products they have destroyed our local market because of their cheap price and over availability.
We would like to see tariffs re-introduced to protect Riverina citrus and the banning of the use of Brazilian concentrates to help have our industry from ruin.
Rates of digestive diseases are rising—ranging from widespread digestive discomfort (“belly bloat,” “spastic colon,” Irritable Bowel Syndrome) to serious and sometimes life-threatening diseases such as ulcerative colitis and colon cancer.
For decades, scientists conducting laboratory animal experiments using the common food additive carrageenan have found higher rates of gastrointestinal inflammation, colitis-like disease, and even colon cancer.
Carrageenan is a convenient and unique food additive for the food industry, and selling carrageenan is a profitable enterprise for a handful of chemical corporations. For decades, these companies have spread misinformation—often, outright lies—about carrageenan’s safety.
Carrageenan can be found in many foods, even foods labeled “natural” and “organic.” It is widely used in dairy products (chocolate milk, whipping cream, ice cream, nonfat sour cream), frozen dinners, dairy alternatives (soy milk, coconut milk, almond milk), prepared poultry and cold cuts, nutritional drinks, and even infant formula.
And who has been more than willing to listen to the corporate scientists rather than to the scientists funded by the National Institutes of Health? That’s right: the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). In June 2012, the FDA rejected a citizen petition by the nation’s preeminent publicly funded scientist and carrageenan expert, who formally requested that carrageenan be removed from our food supply.
Sign the petition below, and let the FDA know that it’s time to act in the interest of our health and safety. Carrageenan is a dangerous food additive, and should be removed from the list of allowed additives!
The FDA’s shameless catering to corporate interests has to end.

We believe that our new philosophies and codes of conduct will restore this location.
Some countries have a program to feed children in schools, others do not. If we think that human resources are the more important, then start feeding children using help from bankers which earn very big profits from credit card users.
A small fee will be helpful to start the program.
IT IS NOW OR NEVER.
An Applebee's waitress who posted a receipt with a note from a pastor complaining about the automatic gratuity added to the bill on the Internet was fired on Wednesday after the pastor complained to her manager.
Chelsea Welch, the waitress, wrote in an email to Yahoo News that the pastor (who has since been identified as Alois Bell) told Welch's manager at the St. Louis-area Applebee's that the ensuing firestorm had "ruined" her reputation.
"I give God 10%," Bell wrote on the receipt, scratching out the automatic tip and scribbling in an emphatic "0" where the additional tip would be. "Why do you get 18?" (There were more than eight people in Bell's party, triggering the auto-tip.)

On Friday 21 September, a month ago, our canteen at the Utas Tasmania School of Art was closed without warning by Compass, the company that manages all commercial services for Utas.
They didn't offer any alternate sources for food and drink, relying instead on students paying for overpriced pies and seafood at fish punts for a month.
The staff at the Tasmania School of Art have made their voice heard that it's not acceptable, now it's time for students to do the same.

Since 1992, when Genetically Modified Organisms were first introduced to Americans, we have seen a tremendous rise in health problems that have been directly linked to GMO consumption.
The list includes, but is not limited to; cancer, autism, digestive disorders, obesity, sterility and miscarriages.
If you are unfamiliar with GMO's and the fact that your family is consuming them without your knowledge, please click on the link I have provided and please sign this petition and then share it with your friends! It may save your children's' lives.

Most people eat meat such as pork, chicken, turkey, cow, etc... We also have dairy produce that comes from cows and chickens. But while we're enjoying these foods and drinks, animals in slaughterhouses are being tortured.
Animals are intelligent creatures and don't deserve this torture. The slaughterhouses are also filthy and the meat isn't always healthy. A lot of people die every year from food poisoning.
Working years in late night hospitality, Ive become tired of the late night kebab being my main source of energy.
The thousands of us that work during the part of the day/night that everyone else spends either sleeping or partying have been left with very little option for food after work. Kebab's and McDonalds just don't cut it anymore.
We want late night KFC!!
We request that the Monsanto Company publicly endorse California’s PROPOSITION 37 - the November, 2012 ballot initiative to require labeling of genetically modified foods sold in California.
… People have a right to know what ingredients are in their food.
… Millions of people are concerned about genetically engineered food for reasons related to environment, health, and/or social issues, and want genetically engineered food to be labeled. As a matter of integrity their concerns should be respected.
… Current regulations in California and the U.S. do not require labeling of genetically engineered food.
… California’s Proposition 37 would require that genetically engineered food sold at retail in California be labeled.
… 970,000 signatures were gathered in California to place Prop 37 on the ballot. Many more consumers in California, the U.S. and the world want to be told if their food contains genetically modified ingredients.
… Monsanto pledges on its website to demonstrate integrity, respect, ethical behavior, perspective and honesty in everything its employees, contractors and management do.
… Monsanto also pledges to provide extensive educational programs, and to “ensure that information is available, accessible, and understandable.”
… In the U.S. Monsanto continues to oppose the labeling of genetically engineered foods, even though it would indicate they contain Monsanto’s own products.
… In European countries Monsanto has publicly stated that food labeling has Monsanto’s full backing and that Monsanto fully supported food manufacturers and retailers in their introduction of labels on genetically engineered food in Europe.
… Monsanto currently complies with labeling regulations in the European Union.
Thrills and skills for life is a company based in the UK offering activities for children, some of which involve animal trapping, slaughter and cooking.
This is their website listing the activity in two of their courses;
This is a post on their website from 28th May 2011 where children took part in and watched rabbits and squirrels being stripped, gutted and roasted on a spit.
Another post on their website from 6th April 2011 where children witnessed pigeons being skinned and helped to roast them on a spit.
Another post on their website from 15th March 2011 describes rabbits being skinned and cooked on a spit.
A video of the activities on this course showing a rabbit being caught by a snare and a pigeon having its heart and lungs removed. The video was made independently of thrills and skills and the children themselves did not kill the animals.

Animals are fully conscious when they are slaughtered; the majority of the time they are not given pain killers to help.
The animals that are kept in cages, sometimes not even as big as their body, are living in fear, pain and suffer.
Do we really want our dinner to be an animal that has suffered for us?
If we speak out, we can make a difference, we can help.
chick fil a has been using peanut oil for many years due to it being cholesterol free but it also causes very severe allergic reactions and can reduce business.
Over 70% of Nunavut families with children between the ages of 3-5 are food insecure. Poverty, climate change and high food prices mean that many families in Nunavut go hungry.
The UN Rapporteur recently issued a report about Canada's 800,000 families who are food insecure, calling food insecurity in our country a "great concern". The Conservative MP for Nunavut, Leona Aglukkaq, shamed Nunavummiut with her immature and out-of-touch response to the UN Rapporteur.
We, the people of Nunavut, deserve better from our federal government. Please sign this petition to ask for concrete, effective change that will address poverty and food insecurity in our communities.

The City of West Palm Beach, Florida currently restricts all Mobile Food Vendors from operating in a zone they have designated as Downtown (from Palm Beach Lakes Blvd to Okeechobee Blvd and Flagler Dr to Australian Ave).
The City of West Palm Beach also restricts Mobile Food Vendors from operating closer than one block in proximity to each other, without a special event permit. The current cost for a special event permit is, $50 non-refundable application fee and a minimum of $500 per occasion.
The City of West Palm Beach is currently searching for ADDITIONAL regulations to be placed on mobile food vendors. Ideas such as, having all vendors park in a central location for a tourist attraction and restricting proximity to existing businesses are being proposed.

Our basic rights have been reduced to voting, and buying whatever we can if we have any money left. We can't even make any solid decisions about what food we consume any more.
The only options we have are the millions of options in the grocery stores that are teaming with terrible side effects and harsh chemicals. People think that because there are so many options, that we have an abundance in good food. However, almost all of these foods are unhealthy, and distributed in a dishonest manner.
Advertising companies and agents have deluded us with glorified, unimportant information about the food we consume, instead of telling the truth about what is in our products. We are told more about what people will think of us if we buy the latest food product, rather than how we will actually feel anatomically.
This petition will be signed in the hopes that advertising food products will be taken more seriously, and that harsh chemicals will no longer be ingredients in our food.
I write to you in bitterness, anger and not a little disappointment in decision of McDonald's to restrict out menu choices before 10:30am!
Sometimes a Bacon and Egg McMuffin doesn’t quite cut it, sometimes it needs to be a Big Mac, with extra special sauce or several cheeseburgers.
Their decision to limit the menu before 10:30am to only breakfast is ruining my favorite and most important meal of the day; not to mention affecting their ability to compete with burger chains such as Hungry Jacks.
I would like to close this petition with a quote from their marketing website. "it's all about you." Well. It's not. And I'm not "lovin' it"
According to a recent survey carried out by Transition Town West Kirby, 'The total number of allotment plots for which English principal councils have waiting list data was 152,442 in this survey, and the total number of people waiting for these was estimated as 86,787. This is an average of 57 people waiting per 100 plots.' and 'Despite the large demand for allotments, there seems to have been little increase in supply.'
Locally I have found 15 years to be the average waiting time for an allotment. This is unsustainable practice in the current climate of growing your own food and the proposed localism bill.
See Project Dirt for further debate on this issue.

Our next campaign action from Talking Food: Taking Action (TF: TA) is to campaign to change the planning law to stop more takeaways being granted planning permission in areas where there are already too many. In order to do this we need to show those in power, such as councillors, the strength of feeling on this issue. That is why participants at the TF: TA Campaign Weekend decided that it was important to set up a petition.
If you can collect 100 signatures on this subject and everyone else on this campaign collects 100 signatures then we will have more than a 10,000 name petition, which would be a phenomenal achievement. With this number of signatures, those people in positions of power who are able to make these changes, will have to listen to your campaign demands.
