1. Fence for 36th Battalion Park, Leichhardt

36th Battalion Park is frequented and enjoyed by many families with young children.

The perimeter does not have a fence, therefore children can get on the road, with the worst place being the blindspot behind the hill, round which there is a children's cycle path.

2. Request a Fence Be Built at 340 Oak Landing Drive

Members of the Homeowner’s Association of Oak Landing:

We would like to point your attention to a pressing issue facing our community. In the last year, multiple neighbors have been plagued by an aggressive canine, loud and obnoxious party-goers, and loud and vulgar language all originating at 340 Oak Landing Drive. Even though some of us may have avoided these unpleasant occurrences, we all suffer from their negative affect upon our neighborhood.

The homeowners at 340 Oak Landing Drive have been contacted numerous times by the Oak Landing HOA with no compliance or regard for their neighbors. This petition seeks a fair and equitable solution to the above mentioned conflicts and strengthens the actions being taken by the Oak Landing HOA.

3. Allow War Hero to continue to Maintain Garden after 40 years work

Petition against Local Authority’s Action to Remove Fence around flower garden Maintained by War Veteran and his family for Over 40 Years.

Mr Aldridge’s family have lived in Normandy Drive in Taunton, Somerset ever since the houses were built, Mr Aldridge grew up in the house and has contributed to the maintenance of the small section of land beside his parents house.

Mr Aldridge, sadly lost his parents and took on the tenancy of the family home from the Local Council, Taunton Deane Borough Council when he left the Armed Forces, serving for his Country in many military operations, including the 1st Gulf War. Mr Aldridge, has continued to care and maintain the land and small fence up until, this very day.

Taunton Deane Borough Council is now forcing Mr Aldridge to remove the fence or court action will be taken against him. This petition is to help Mr Aldridge in his fight against the Local Authorities, to allow Mr Aldridge to maintain the beautiful piece of land with the flower beds around the trees and rose beds and avoid this area being left to gather rubbish and be misused like many other areas locally have.

After fighting for his country, can a war hero not be allowed to upkeep a piece of land unused by anyone else? This is Local Authorities gone mad! Local press and news stations are in support of Mr Aldridge and his good intentions.

4. Inadequate height of EL CHAPPARAL GOLF boundary fence

Due to a recent incident at the beginning of May I am undertaking the task of raising this Petition against El Chapparal Golf.

In May a friend of mine had her vehicle parked all day in Las Adelfas. When she returned to her vehicle she found that her window had been smashed with a golf ball. Also, there have been in the past other incidences were golf balls have narrowly missed residential properties and also dented other cars that are parked in Las Adelfas.

5. Rideout Playground: No Fenced-In Fields

In April 2008, Concord-Carlisle Youth Baseball/Softball (CCYB/S), a private organization, presented a proposal to the Concord Recreation Commission to convert Rideout Playground into a premiere baseball facility.

Rideout Playground is an area where people of all ages rest, run, fly kites, and play soccer, baseball, whiffle ball, football and Frisbee in the open space.

After hearing many concerns from the citizens of Concord on the CCYB/S proposal for the playground, the chair of the Concord Recreation Commission put forth proposed guidelines for the redevelopment of Rideout Playground by CCYB/S. The guidelines were presented at the Recreation Commission’s meeting on May 27th, 2008 and include the following:

• Eliminate one 60’ baseball diamond, likely Rideout #2—the one closest to the tot lot area
• Re-orient one 60’ baseball diamond—Rideout #3—in a northeasterly direction to minimize sun glare and possibly be closer to the tree line. (Note: getting closer to the tree line may not be possible if appropriate pathways to the field are added as required by the ADA.)
• Downsize the Concord Academy 90’ practice field (closest to Conant Street) to a 60’ diamond and turn it over for CCYB/S use, and erect a permanent “homerun” fence and warning track around the field. (Note: The homerun fence would be approximately 200 feet from home plate, and a backstop would be 30 feet behind home plate.)
• Investigate adding more parking by extending the lots from Bradford Street and Conant street

The proposed guidelines would maintain the current level of CCYB/S baseball game activity at Rideout Playground but would also add permanent fencing that would enclose one of the fields, compromising the open space currently enjoyed by all at the playground. The fenced-in field, from backstop to homerun fence, would occupy approximately one acre of currently useable space.

The Chair of the Concord Recreation Commission has asked the community, and the Recreation Commission, to consider the proposed guidelines and would like to hear feedback at a community information meeting (to be scheduled) and at the next Recreation Commission meeting in June.

***************

We support eliminating the Concord Academy practice field and retaining the current inventory of three fields for CCYB/S games. We also support addressing any possible safety issues by re-orienting the three fields so that sunlight is not shining in players’ eyes.

We appreciate the Chair of the Recreation Commission’s attempt to address the needs of all constituents, however we fundamentally disagree with the idea of erecting any fencing that will enclose a field—either permanent or temporary— in Rideout Playground, and urge you to sign the petition so that we may collectively provide feedback to Town officials on this matter.

Rideout is a highly utilized public playground that the West Concord community depends upon, and it is not appropriate to fence off a portion of it for private use. There is very little open green space in West Concord, and all of Rideout needs to continue to be available as a multi-purpose recreation area for all.

6. Free The Bridge Petition

This petition supports the removal of the fence blocking direct access to Tacoma's Chihuly Bridge of Glass from Pacific Avenue.

The fence significantly impedes access to the Foss Waterway, the Bridge of Glass, poses unnecessary accessibility barriers and is a poor example of urban design. A year ago, the community successfully rallied to stop the construction of a brick wall slated to replace the fence. This wall would have all but entirely blocked the view of the Chihuly Bridge from Pacific Avenue.

Now it's time to finish the job and remove the fence for good to provide direct pedestrian access to the Foss Waterway and the Bridge of Glass which Tacomans have spent millions to build and restore.

7. Support the fencing of Redcar Town facilities at the Trunk Rd

As part of the development of Redcar Town JFC, new facilities are being build at the Trunk Rd playing fields. This development includes fencing off the allotted are of the palying fields. However, there is a campaign to stop the fence being erected a the Trunk Road.

The club has contacted Neil Russell, a Redcar Council official, who has confirmed that this is true. Neil is slightly concerned as he has only received negative letters /emails from local residents regarding the erection of the fence.

To counter act this we need to send emails / Letters of support for the fencing, obviously letters from local residents surrounding the Trunk road would be ideal, however support from anyone who will use the site would help support the erection of the fence.

The obvious benefits of the Fence are -

    Promotes safety for children;

    Stops irresponsible dog owners letting dogs foul in areas children will play;

    Stop unsupervised dogs from harassing players and destroying equipment;

    Stops youths on motor bikes riding across pitches when children are playing.

8. Whangarei Town Basin Children's Park

While supervising my two year old son, my four year old son went missing at the Whangarei Town Basin Children's Park.

I eventually found him playing with another child over the edge of the board walk playing amongst the rocks and mangroves of the Whangarei Harbor.

This could have easily ended tragically!

To prevent this from ever happening I would like the Whangarei District council to fully ring fence the park with childproof Safety fencing and gates.

10. PETITION FOR THE REMOVAL OF THE NEW FENCE ON GLEN FORREST SPORTS OVAL

In the last days of June Mundaring Shire Council erected a 1.3m high galvanised iron and mesh fence along the eastern edge of the Glen Forrest sports oval (also known as Burkinshaw Park). This transformed what was an attractive tree-lined perimeter with a rural appearance into an ugly piece of suburbia.

(Note that this was just before the end of the financial year, when the local press published the Shire’s boast that it had balanced its budget by further deferring necessary maintenance on public buildings.)

No prior public consultation or polling appears to have been conducted to ascertain the community’s views on the need for the fence, or its advisability.

Reasons given by the Shire - “to stop cricket balls going into the creek”, and “to stop children playing in the drain” are questionable at best: retrieval of balls going over (or under!) the fence will now be significantly more difficult - and dangerous if players vault the obstruction - and it does not prevent access to the gully by children, even if parents had wanted this.

The fence,
• is an eyesore, totally out of keeping with the rural aspect that residents value and seek to preserve and enhance;
• will cause the narrow pathway it creates along its outer perimeter to become degraded and the grass to erode, forming a dirt track that will be muddy and dangerous in winter months;
• closes off a long-established right of way between the oval - a public recreational facility - and Braxan Street, one of its main access points.
• forces those wishing to enter the sports ground from the eastern end of Braxan Street to skirt along the outside of the fence to the access gate at Hudson Street;
• is unwanted and has no apparent support among the local community;
• has no obvious purpose, or any that outweighs its drawbacks.

In calling for the removal of the fence in the following petition, it is pointed out that the cost of the fence, its installation and subsequent removal would have been saved if adequate community consultation had been conducted beforehand.

It is therefore felt that the Shire has failed to exercise due diligence in its conduct of this matter.

11. Forest Lake at Bear Creek Entry Sign and Landscaping

Demien Development Incorporated and Gittemeir Homes Incorporated are not meeting their obligation to the Forest Lake at Bear Creek homeowners on several issues and it is negatively impacting our property values.

The entry monuments and signage have not been erected as promised, there is a chain link fence at the entrance to the development which is in direct violoation of the Master Declaration of Covenants and Restrictions of Bear Creek Estates("Covenants and Restrictions") Section B Item 2, the cart path connecting Oak Creek Drive to the existing cart path on the golf course has not been installed, and the empty lots and common areas are not being maintained properly as per Item 11 in Section B of the Covenants and Restrictions.

12. Clarification of Responsibility for the Bluffs HOA Perimeter Fence

This petition is to clarify the wording in the covenents regarding responsibility for maintenance, repair and eventual replacement of the perimeter fence.

The developer had installed a cedar fence along the Southern border (Floyd Street), the western border (Luthern Church and Tower Avenue) and the Northern border (Cornell Ave.). The HOA board deam all the perimeter fence the responsibility of the HOA. However, a number of residents of the Bluffs HOA feel the portion of the fence boardering the Luthern Church is private property to private property and therefore the responsibility of the Church and effected homeowner.

The disputed section of the covenents reads as follows:
