By switching from environmentally harmful sources to more environmentally friendly sources, the state can help reduce dependence on foreign oil, reduce pollution, and stimulate the economy by creating jobs and stimulate outside investment into the state.

This petition is to ask the South Gippsland Shire Council to deny Planning permission to erect a 30m high NBN monoploe at 35 Shellcott Road, Yanakie.

We argue that placing the pole so close to our house and in a place where it is massively visible from our kitchen window will have a huge negative impact on our property value, quality of life and our health. It will aslo negatively impact on the property value of every property in the road. I have written confirmation of this from a local RE Agent. We insist that with a little bit of flexibility and community dialog a site could be found that leaves everybody satisfied.

My wife Helen Wilkinson and I bought the property at 15 Shellcott Road in 2001. For the past 11 years we have worked tirelessly to bring what is a magnificent garden (planted by Jack Shellcott in the late 1950s) back from decades of neglect. The work continues. Our property together with a small parcel of Crown Land accross the road is an oasis for wildlife in an area which has been stripped of native vegetation. The sheer variety of mature trees on our property makes it a unique Botanical Garden to rival anything in the whole area of South Gippsland. We are very proud to be custodians of this land and have planted over 1200 native trees to augment what is already here. This monopole will loom over the property and utterly destroy it's heritage value.

The site analysis which was conducted identified our home as a farm building. This is incorrect and therefore the design response is wrong.

We love to share this place through frequent gatherings here. As well, we share the beauty of it through our atwork, which features sculptures, prints, drawings and paintings of some of the life in our garden and the local area. We work extremely hard on this and have staged many shows in the local area including two since Christmas as well as holding down jobs and running businesses. This tower will make it impossible for us to continue as our hearts will be broken.

There are big concerns over the possible health effects of these towers and poles. Helen and I have been studying electro-magnetic energy for the past six years. Helen actually works in the area of energetic medicine as a SCIO therapist at the rear of Leongatha Health Foods, as well as serving customers three days a week. We have learnt about the amazing role that frequencies play in communication, navigation and health in all animals and plants. Despite my initial scepticism, I now realise this is not some new-age mumbo-jumbo, but proven facts.

Humans and the planet earth have an identical electrical pulse called the Schumann Resonance, which is measured at 7.83 Mz (oscillations per second). We are all electrical beings. There have been hundreds of studies on melatonin - the body's wonder drug which mops up cancer-causing free radicals on a nightly basis. All the studies point in the same direction - that radio frequencies disturb the body's melatonin production. I can't prove that the towers are making people sick, but Helen and I believe very strongly that living very near them could be ptentially hazardous, and there are enough examples from around the world of so called "cancer clusters" for this fear to be founded in truth. Why risk putting them very close to houses when there are other alternatives?

As well as health consequences for humans, there are implications for wildlife, too. Over twenty different bird species, as well as many frogs, small marsupials and a healthy hive of bees have their home here. Birds, as well as bees are very sensitive to electro-magnetic frequencies.

Birds as well as humans have what are called Chiptochromes behind their eyes which allow them to sense electro-magnetic fields.
Bees can detect a massive spectrum of frequencies and use the earth's electro-magnetic field for their navigatiion. Tests prove that bees' ability to find their way back to the hive is hindered by electro-magnetic radiation from wireless devices. Bee populations have been decimated world-wide since 2006.

We are worried that a monopole this close to the property will have a detrimental effect on the life here.

Why the rush? In it's haste to roll out the NBN, decisions are being made which are ill-considered.

Where as Dr. Mark Jacobson of Stanford University and Dr. Mark Delucchi of the University of California at Davis have conducted several studies now reported in the Nov 2009 issue of Scientific American, the March 2011 issue of Energy Policy and now in the Feb 2013 issue of Energy Policy on powering the world, the United States and the State of New York 100% with renewable energy, with existing technology, without fossil fuel or nuclear power by 2030.

The US Department of Energy should conduct a feasibility study and implement such a plan in the US, with all deliberate speed to save the country and the planet from global warming and further environmental destruction from the impact of fossil fuel and nuclear power.

1 Vitality per half an hour is terrible. Even on a 24hours recharge, all we get are just 48 vitality.

Unless your game content (e.g. Quantity of Quests, End game items farming) is severely limited, otherwise I really don't see why the Regeneration rate can't be increased, even if by a little.

Solution:
a) Personally, I would find it reasonable at 1 per 20minutes. At least even in a 24hours recharge, we get 72, and every hour we are able to indulge in 3 activities, instead of a measly 2. But hey, if you wanna dream, dream big right.. SO pray for 1 vitality per 15minutes(96 Vitality in 24hours)! If it ever gets to 1 per 15minutes, thats probably when the game blossom to one of the best browser-facebook game ever. However, considering how big a risk the game developer would take to risk their profit, 1 per 20minutes is fair enough.

b) Suggested by a fellow player Chris. I find it reasonable that, vitality points could be incorporated to be part of the rewards in daily tasks, activities, any special quest, etc.

And probably the removal of vitality usage in certain activities? Since mining has a rather long timer, perhaps you can remove the requirement of expending precious vitality and maybe increase the timer by a little.

It is almost guaranteed that all of our vitality will be expended, and for a 'cash shop profiting' game, there will definitely still be individuals that spend their gold for vitality purchases, and giving you your revenue from gold recharge.

If you would be able to retain more players for a long term, or otherwise, your faithful consumers, I don't see why they wouldn't spread the fame of your well developed game to more of their friends. Especially so when you have a title that is created by the GREATEST MANGARTIST EVER.

Also, it would seem you have BARELY touched community in US, EU and Oceanic region, which I highly doubt their Gen Y wouldn't be interested in a game affiliated or should I say, partially created by Oda Eiichiro. Given the fame of One Piece, hell even the upcoming Gen Z would be interested!

So please, do hear us out and adjust it a little. Think consumer first and act with integrity!

In our day and age it is necessary to find new ways to conserve and produce energy in original and innovative ways. Alternative methods of producing energy need to be found because energy resources are being depleted rapidly due to a growing dependence upon them. Additionally, the burning of fossil fuels has done significant damage to our environment.

Although this idea has been attempted before, too much drag was created to produce an efficient amount of energy. However, this prototype reduces the amount of drag to an extent where a great amount of energy is produced for future use. Also, normally this method was used to charge the primary battery of a car, but if a secondary battery is used, the system would make a net energy gain.

Ford currently has a patent on this idea, however their model does not incorporate new drag reduction mechanisms which we have come up with. Help us by signing this petition so that in the future cars can use wind generators to produce clean energy!

There is significant medical support that these drinks can cause health issues when consumed in adults and children and the accessibility to these drinks must be regulated to the same standards as alcohol and tobacco as the health risks are just as serious when taken is excess.

What's in these energy drinks that has them flying off the shelves? Mainly caffeine. Energy drinks can also be loaded with sugar -- a quarter-cup on average. Also, since they're marketed as dietary supplements, they often contain unregulated herbal stimulants like Taurine, Guarana, Creatine and B vitamins. Doctors say this can be a dangerous mix. In fact, energy drinks can cause kids to suffer heart palpitations, seizures, strokes, and even sudden death.

Energy drinks should not be combined with alcohol or any other drugs, including caffeine from other sources like soda.

My son has become "addicted" to Red Bull and other similar high energy, caffeine drinks. On the back of these cans there is a warning that these levels of caffeine can be harmful to CHILDREN, pregnant women and those sensitive to high levels of caffeine. What defines a child? Surely anyone under the age of 16?

My son has become aggressive and at times violent while "on" such drinks... I say "on" as it is a if he is high on drugs! At the age of 14 I feel it completely wrong that these products are sold to children!

The U.S. State Department’s decision to delay its review of TransCanada Corp.’s $7-billion Keystone XL pipeline until after next year’s presidential election may doom the project and accelerate Canada’s efforts to ship crude to China.

This project would provide thousands and thousands of jobs in the United States, a lot of unionized, well-paying jobs.

This delay, may doom the project. The 1,661-mile pipeline would deliver 700,000 barrels a day of crude from Alberta’s oil sands to the Gulf of Mexico, more than half of all the oil coming from Saudi Arabia.

I am opposed to the building of new nuclear power stations in the UK under any form of public subsidy.

New nuclear power stations have been justified on the basis that they are the best way for the UK to:

• reduce its emissions of 'greenhouse gases' that cause climate change;
  
• close the impending 'energy gap' caused by the closure of existing nuclear and coal power stations;
  
• ensure national energy security in the decades ahead.
  

These arguments are wrong, for the following reasons:

1. Despite the trillions of dollars invested in nuclear power, and the boundless optimism of nuclear advocates, nuclear power is very expensive. Nuclear power station construction always over-runs on both time and cost estimates, sometimes many times over.
   
   
2. Renewables such as wind and solar electricity are getting cheaper all the time, and costs will continue to fall for many years to come as major industrial countries - including Germany, Japan, China and USA - make huge investments in renewables to secure their energy futures. Any nuclear power stations the UK begins to build now will be made obsolete by advances in renewable technologies, long before they are complete in ten or more years time.
   
   
3. Emissions reductions can best be secured by investing in renewable energy; energy efficiency; microgeneration; energy storage; 'smart grid' / responsive demand technologies; and a trans-continental 'supergrid' stretching from North Africa to the Arctic Circle.
   
   
4. The predicted deficit in the UK's electricity supply can be met, and more, by accelerated investment in renewable energy and microgeneration, and by raising the efficiency of our homes, factories and offices.
   
   
5. A green electricity strategy based on renewables, microgeneration and demand reduction is free of any serious risks or long term liabilities. Nuclear power, by contrast, is associated with many serious hazards:
   
   
   • radioactive emissions at every stage of the nuclear life cycle;
     
   • nuclear waste that remains dangerous for over 100,000 years;
     
   • the risk of severe nuclear accidents, like Chernobyl and Fukushima, costing hundreds of billions of pounds and rendering thousands of square kilometres uninhabitable;
     
   • the danger that nuclear power stations and other nuclear facilities will be terrorist targets;
     
   • the production of plutonium for nuclear bombs.
   
   The open-market insurance cost against nuclear accidents alone is estimated to be worth roughly the entire UK retail electricity price of about 12p per kWh!
   
   
6. The world contains limited resources of energetically viable uranium deposits, and these will quickly run out in the event of a widespread scramble for nuclear power. No viable uranium deposits exist in the UK.
   
   
7. Raising energy efficiency will reduce our dependency on all energy imports. Renewable electricity depends only on wind, wave, tide and sunshine. None of these need to be imported, and they are immune from the vagaries of fuel and energy markets. The UK has the greatest renewable energy potential of any country in Europe, but we have done little to develop it.

The Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) has revealed that more than a fifth of all households in the UK were affected by fuel poverty in 2009.

According to the DECC, higher fuel bills led to the number of homes affected increased by one million, to 5.5 million.

A household is categorised as being in fuel poverty when it is required to spend more than ten per cent of its income on keeping warm.

The numbers for 2010 and 2011, the DECC observed, will have increased because of further rises in the price of energy.

Scottish Power has revealed that it intends to implement a 19% increase in the price of gas and a 10% rise in the price of electricity, this is on the back of an increases in November 2010.

These increases are likely to be mirrored by the other big 6 energy suppliers in the UK. The most disturbing factor about these rises is that it comes on the back of record profits post by the likes of British gas who raked in £742million in 2010 which translates to a whopping 24 per cent rise helped by a price hike of 7% at the start of the coldest winter for decades, to make matters worse this rise occurred just weeks after a half yearly report showed that profits had double for like for like sales.

British gas is not the only company within the energy sector announce record profits with Npower also posting a 9% increase in profits after issuing an average 5% rises in both gas and electricity prices with Scottish power posting a massive £1.2 billion.

These prices are way above the rate of inflation and while Scottish power is the only energy supplier to have yet to announce its intention to increase prices which will take effect in august 2011, I think it’s a fair assessment that the others will follow suit as they seem to be one big cartel, while they may not share profits with each other, they do aid each other in the creation of profits by posting price hikes across the board. For example now that Scottish power has announced its intention to increase its price for 2011 it opens the door for further increases in prices albeit at varying levels. The ability to shop around does not guarantee a fair price; it only offers you the ability to choose how far over the odds you are willing to pay.

It is my opinion that the energy sector is in every way as important as the health and defence sectors of this country and without which none of us could survive and neither would we stand by and see them privatised. The Nationalisation of the energy sector would help to safe guard the future of the United Kingdom.

It is not beyond the realms of realism to believe that a nationalised energy sector could work effectively and with the knowledge that any profits posted will be returned back into the system to help improve the standard of living within the UK.

In 1986, the Government undertook a strategy that has rendered us under a lottery of companies, who are systemically dipping further and further into our pockets year on year.

But the sell off of British Gas was not then and not now in the greater interest of our Country.

We are facing the prospect of even greater energy bills, and the potential for an increase in hypothermia cases in the elderly and those on low incomes.

How can the energy companies continue to say they are absorbing the cost of energy prices when they continue to increase their profits at our expense.

But as a democratic Country we have the right to stand up to our Government and ask that they intervene for the greater good. Either by looking extensively into the energy lottery crisis or Re-Nationalise the energy market and aid us in being able to live comfortable without a fear of a cold winter, due to the cost of energy.

Imagine you are a farmer in charge of watering all the crops in your land. Imagine that about two hours before you had to perform your task, it would begin to rain heavily for the remainder of the afternoon. Now, despite the fact that the soil is already wet by the constant and heavy rain, would you still water the plants even more?

The logical answer is no. Similarly, imagine if you work schedule is from 7 A.M. to 8 P.M, then when it’s time to go home, would you leave the lights and a/c on for at least 7 hours? Again, the logical answer is no. And despite the many reasons why you wouldn’t, we can all agree that one of them is to save water and energy, whether it is in order to save money or save the environment.

At USF, this is a common scenario. Of all the 253 buildings, there are few that have movement sensors that activate lights; nonetheless, the a/c, computers, and other energy appliances remain turned on. On residential buildings, all lights are on despite the fact that sun can enter through the windows and could be able to illuminate the area. Through campus, water sprinklers are being used even if it’s raining and some are located where most of the water falls on the cement. Furthermore, water is carelessly used, and sometimes even wasted.

This problem is urgent and needs to be solved soon. Not only we are wasting money, but we are also carelessly thinking of the consequences it has in our environment. The more potable water we use, the less potable water that the world will have. Changes must be made locally, nationally, and internationally. Furthermore, we have energy thanks to energy industries that produce energy by processing oil (fossil fuel). If we use more energy, more oil needs to be processed, which means a decrease in our reserves of fossil fuels and the increase of contamination of our atmosphere.

As USF students, we feel that we need to take action in order to solve this problem that many people overlook and consider insignificant. This problem is important because the misuse of water and energy is costing USF vast amounts of money that students have to pay towards something that could be controlled. The goal of this petition is to spread consciousness of the problem and have an easy but accessible way of action for all USF students, staff, families, and friends.

Thorium reactors could power our world for as long as we need them.

If we are to all have carbon nano-tube batteries charging up our electric cars for 1000's of miles worth each time we will need a good abundant energy source for our electric charging and thorium power holds the solution for that.

Dear Safe Energy Advocate,

We, the undersigned safe energy advocates, have been
speaking out about the risks and dangers posed by nuclear
power for years – many since before the 1986 Chornobyl
and 1979 Three Mile Island accidents as well as the
hundreds of other radioactive releases, unplanned shut-
downs, and other mishaps that have continuously plagued
both the U.S. and the international nuclear industries since
their founding.

While nuclear power’s unacceptable safety, environmental,
public health, economic, and national security risks should
have been self-evident long before now, the latest
unfolding nuclear disaster in Japan once again underscores
the following:

Nuclear plants can never be designed to withstand all
potential “acts of God.”

Nuclear plants can never be designed to withstand all
instances of “human error.”

Nuclear plants can never be designed to withstand all types
of “mechanical malfunction.”

Nuclear plants can never be designed to withstand all
forms of “terrorist attack.”

There is no such thing as “safe” nuclear power.

There is no such thing as “clean” nuclear power.

There is no such thing as “cheap” nuclear power.

Consequently, all proposed governmental financial and
regulatory incentives for new nuclear plant construction -
including loan guarantees, accelerated licensing, and
inclusion in a “clean energy standard” - should be rejected,
and no new reactors should be built.

Existing nuclear reactors should be phased out as rapidly as
possible, beginning with the oldest and/or most unsafe,
and no presently-licensed reactors should have their
operating lives extended.

Safety standards for existing reactors should be
substantially tightened while they continue to operate and
federal nuclear funding should be redirected to the orderly
phase-out of those reactors as well as the safe
decommissioning of closed reactors and disposal of
radioactive waste.

National energy policy and funding should be refocused on
greatly improved energy efficiency and the rapid
deployment of renewable energy sources which are far
cleaner, safer, and cheaper than nuclear power.

Now that the Cap has been lifted from the Electric companies, they can now charge what ever they would like for electric. With the raise in price, families of all financial background are being affected.

From large and small businesses to residential homes, this affects people all over the United States. There needs to be a Cap in place to limit the amount allowed to be charged for electricity.

Today's economy leaves no room for greedy companies to be overcharging Americans for the necessity of electric power.

New Zealand is rich in renewable resources and should be leading the world in showing how nations can move away from fossil fuels using solar power, wind and geothermal to fuel our economy and protect our environment.

Countries such as Germany, a nation with far less renewable and solar resources than New Zealand, now has the greatest solar power capacity in the world and has generated hundreds of thousands of renewable energy sector jobs. New Zealand is lagging far behind and as a consequence, our greenhouse gas emissions are increasing.

This commitment will give a much needed boost to investment in and the uptake of clean technologies generating thousands of new jobs in the clean energy sector. In Nelson, the city council has pioneered the introduction of the first solar saver scheme allowing homeowners to spread the cost of going solar. Since its launch the scheme has driven down the capital cost of solar by up to20%, created new jobs and secured over $3m of inward investment for clean technology.

It is only with the full support of communities across New Zealand that the Government will meet its goals of lowering greenhouse gas emissions and the people are ready to play their part if given the proper support and tools to do so. By introducing incentives like feed in tariffs and Solar Saver schemes to encourage Kiwi’s to start generating their own electricity and heat the government will give the people the power to generate their own power to help keep NZ 100% pure.

PowerStream is the second largest municipally-owned electricity distribution company in Ontario, delivering power to more than 325,000 customers residing or owning a business in communities located immediately north of Toronto and in Central Ontario. The communities it serves include Alliston, Aurora, Barrie, Beeton, Bradford West Gwillimbury, Markham, Penetanguishene, Richmond Hill, Thornton, Tottenham and Vaughan.

The company is jointly owned by the municipalities of Barrie, Markham and Vaughan.

Powerstream charges what many customers feel are excessive delivery charges. Subscribers to Powerstream often feel helpless to complain about these charges, which can exceed the actual power consumption charges on many bills.

Enough is enough. Add your voice to demand that the Ontario Energy Board order Powerstream to lower its delivery charges, making them more reasonable and affordable to its Ontario customers.

The main obstacle that is preventing the clean up of the oil spill that began on April 20, 2010 in the Gulf of Mexico, is an act that was instilled in 1920, called the Jones Act.

The Jones Act was passed by the Congress just after the end of World War I and was enacted in order to protect American sailors when they were injured on the job, and to re-build the shipping revenue of the U.S.Currently, there have been no requests to lift this act which can be waived by the president but yet there is more advanced technology that is being offered by 13 different countries.

Their technology can cut down the clean up of the oil spill from 10 months to 3 or 4 months.

Sierra Club Prairie and Greenpeace Canada have launched the Province-wide campaign, ‘RePower Alberta: Building the Green Economy’, to spread the word on the growing economic and community benefits of moving to a green economy.

RePower Alberta is calling on the Alberta Government to implement a Green Energy Strategy.

After decades of riding the roller-coaster of the fossil fuel sectors’ boom and bust cycles, the time has come for Alberta to forge a new energy path. Renewable energy resources and green just solutions are ready and waiting to meet our energy demands.

Diversifying our energy economy will provide tens of thousands of new clean and green jobs for Albertans, and has the opportunity to create just solutions to our province’s contribution to the climate crisis.

The government of Alberta, however, continues to drag its heels on introducing real policies, strategies or legislation that would set Alberta on a proactive course of strengthening the province’s position with one of the fastest growing sectors in the world.

Building the Green Energy Economy - We know that Albertans agree! In 2009, an Ipsos Reid poll showed that 78% of Albertans prefer that the Alberta Government provide subsidies for Renewable Energy over the Oil and Gas Sector.

Alberta can continue building a strong economy while maintaining a healthy environment for all of us to live in. We call upon Albertans everywhere to raise their voices and demand that the power be put back into our hands!

Progress Energy has recently increased their bills causing people to pay twice their normal bills to pay for the construction of a nuclear power plant in Tampa, Florida. Nuclear power is very dangerous, and to place one in a populated area is indisputably reckless.

The cost of the plant is 17 billion dollars and Progress Energy currently serves 1.7 million people. This means that the price each household will pay (if split evenly) is 10,000 dollars. At the current rate, a little less that 8 percent (115.32 annually), this increase will be in effect for nearly 87 years unless more increases are to come to speed up the process. That's 87 years of these intense conditions, and in order to reduce the time, the payments must increase even more.

If you think it doesn't apply to you because you don't live in Florida think again. President Obama stated on February 16th "Investing in nuclear energy remains a necessary step" and "this is only the beginning." He plans to create nuclear power plants all over the US saying each one will create thousands of construction jobs with only 800 being permanent.

I would really like if I could get the Sobe beverages in Atlantic Canada. We used to get them here at our local Costco but have not seen them in years. This was my favorite drink and I am so disappointed that I can't get them here anymore.

I am sure not just myself but other consumers would make it sustainable enough to stock it in our stores.

To educate students, schools use paper and electricity extensively. Paper is used for worksheets, written exercises, textbooks, novels, and other products that are made from trees, which supply the planet oxygen and help reduce the effects of global warming.

By consuming the carbon emissions that pollute our atmosphere and alarmingly intensify the greenhouse effect, trees help cool the planet, but by cutting down more and more of them, we are escalating the effects of global warming and causing the polar ice caps to melt from the heat of the intensified greenhouse effect.

By using electricity extensively in schools, we are burning coal and releasing more and more carbon emissions into the atmosphere and strengthening the greenhouse effect even more. As this causes the melting of polar ice caps, we can already see what happens when it continues. As ice breaks up and melts in the warmer waters, polar bears and stranded in the water and will eventually drown.

Shorelines are advancing from the excess water from melted glaciers added into the ocean, and beaches are shrinking rapidly. If we don't do anything before its too late, we may make entire coastlines disappear from the swelling sea levels and entire species become extinct from lack of habitats.
