121. CSI Computer Request
This petition from the students of the Graduate School of Education and Human Development, Department of Counseling/Human and Organizational Studies at The George Washington University calls for a new computer to be purchased for the Chi Sigma Iota, Rho Theta Chapter of GWU to be placed in the Community Counseling Services Center.
Because there is no single place where standard databases (including membership, new student, and internship databases) can be housed, a new computer is essential.
Furthermore, because of the numerous valid career assessments that are currently available via the Internet, the new computer will serve as a tool for those needing career counseling services. Minimum requirements needed for the requested computer include Internet access, a spreadsheet program, and a word processing program.
122. Save The Oran Z Pan African Black Facts and Wax Museum
This petition is to help save the Oran Z Pan African Black Facts and Wax Museum, 3742 W. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd Los Angeles, CA 90008.
A re-development company is seeking to tear down the museum and an African-American owned business that is not in the way of the development and make it a parking lot. Every effort has been made to work with the developer concerning saving the museum and businesses housed at this location to no avail.
Now we are asking for everyone to rally behind the effort to save history, culture and art housed in this museum; as well as the livelihood of the business owner.
123. Abolish Hidde View Development Jacob Road Access
Eight years ago the plans for the Wall Township Hidden View development was introduced. The plans proposed access from Cherry & Red Bud lanes in the Ramtown section of Howell. The Howell Council took action against this proposel. The NJ Supreme Court ruled in favor of allowing access to Hidden View from Cherry & Red Bud lanes. Plan B was to build a bridge over the Garden State Parkway which proved to be to daunting. The new plan calls for access to Hidden View via a new $750,000.00 "T" intersection at Jacob Road in the Forest Ridge development.
This plan is a result of complaints from the residents in and around the Cherry & Red Bud Lane area. While no one wants the access road in their area, to move it to another area is just shifting the burden. The Cherry & Red Bud Lane area has numerous alternate routes to Newtons Corner Road. The Forest Ridge area has extremely limited access to Newton Corner Road for vehicles from 177 new homes.
This "T" intersection if built will pose a serious threat to safety and well being of the children and all residents in the Forest Ridge development. Direct access to Newton Corner road or another main road should be found. Builing a new access road that funnels the traffic from 177 new homes trough ANY existing residential development must not be allowed.
124. Support Patterson Crossing Shopping Center
The Patterson Chamber of Commerce is requesting residents and business owners to support the development of a new shopping center located on Route 311, in Patterson, NY.
125. Help preserve our heritage - Save the ADI site as a nature reserve!
Whereas,
In a matter of weeks a contract which will see the sale of the Federal Government's Comland, the owner of the ADI site, to Lend Lease, will be finalised.
Lend Lease claims the development will create jobs for western Sydney as well as provide much-needed housing.
It also claims the 850-hectare regional park, to be managed by the National Parks and Wildlife Service, will protect the environmental values of the area.
The State Government has already rezoned the land for development as well as the creation of a 850-hectare regional park.
However, the ADI Resident Action Group, wants the entire site saved. This is supported by some of NSW's top scientists who claim that any housing on the site would lead to extinctions of many endangered species.
126. Save award-winning urban community garden in South Philadelphia !
This petition seeks to save a currently existing, award-winning urban community garden in South Philadelphia from development.

Triple Canada's contribution to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria and that these funds not be taken from existing commitments to international development assistance;
Challenge international financial institutions' current paractices demanding debt repayment and imposing structural adjustment austerity measures that limit people's capacity to ensure their own health and well-being.

131. Save Rosia Montana
Rosia Montana, a community in Romania, needs the support of Canadians. Gabriel Resources of Toronto plans to develop Europe's largest open-cast mine in the Rosia Montana area of Romania. This gold mining project is illegal and immoral and has met with strong resistance because it will force people to leave their homes without their consent, irreversibly destroy a beautiful 1600 hectare area, and threaten the environment with a vast cyanide lake. Yet, Canadian money is keeping the project alive.
The petition below expresses solidarity with the Save Rosia Montana Campaign. The signatures will be presented to the people of Rosia Montana on Oct. 11, 2003 during a ceremony in the village when supporters complete a solidarity march of 130 km. The petition will also be forwarded to the Canadian government, to say that Canadians do not want to be associated with this type of development abroad and to demand that the government withdraw support of this project.
132. AL LOWE MUST BE INVOLVED IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE NEXT LEISURE SUIT LARRY GAME
It's been recently confirmed by employees of Sierra Entertainment, through replies to e-mail messages sent by fans requesting the creation of a new adventure starring Larry Laffer, that the next installment in the well known and established franchise of the bestselling Leisure Suit Larry series is in early development stages right now.
These avid fans, eager to know more about the next chapter in the Leisure Suit Larry (LSL) series, contacted Mr. Al Lowe, the creative talent behind the franchise character and his adventures (who has participated in the series as game designer, writer, programmer, director and musical theme composer to name a few), just to find out that the game is being done without him.
As you may know, the critically-acclaimed LSL series (Entertainment Tonight, Rolling Stone, Wall Street Journal), designed in its entirety by Mr. Al Lowe, were in it's 7th and most hilarious incarnation yet when a reorganization at Sierra took place in 1998. As a result of this restructuring, some highly anticipated titles (such as Babylon 5), together with other well established franchises (such as the Space Quest series and the 8th installment in the LSL series, tentatively named 'Lust in Space'), were cancelled.
5 years later, it seems as though Sierra Entertainment has decided there's a chance to build an, in ex-president Dave Grenewetzki's own words, "economically viable product". But this seem to come at the expense of sacrificing the series main appeal, it's unique concept and signature gameplay elements. Sierra Entertainment's former president, Mike Ryder, once expressed his intention in bringing back the Leisure Suit Larry property, though insinuated it would not be as an adventure.
As such, many people inside the gaming industry, and not just the long-time loyal fans, are becoming deeply concerned by this matter, together with the fact that the company didn't even had the decency to notify Mr. Al Lowe of the new project taking place.
133. Build Soccer Fields for Vicksburg, Mississippi
Vicksburg, Mississippi is a town of 25,000+ that presently has no soccer fields within the city limits. The local soccer organization has 600+ players. City residents are forced to drive ten miles outside the city limits for practice and games. Youth
Development of the sport therefor struggles within the city. This has been an issue for many years now. Please sign the below petition for the good of our youth.
134. Support The Lakewood School Language Development Program
The Lakewood School Language Developement Program has been a very sucessfull program for the last 25 years. Helping many children with severe language problems overcome their challenges and become confident and productive students. The current School Board has formed a committee to come up with a recommendation to either change or eliminate this program from our school ditrict in order to save money, with the misguided promise that a new format of language development programs will access more children. We, the parents of these children do not want to see this program done away with but expanded in its current proven form if possible.
135. New City Park for RiverPointe
Riverpointe is a new single family housing development built by Orrin Thompson. We have been informed that the undeveloped land adjacent from our neighborhood has also been purchased by Orrin Thompson. We are requesting that approximately three acres of this land be purchased by the ciy of Otsego for a city park with bike/walking paths.
136. Stop the development of a mini trailer park
When we purchased our properties, land and/or home, we were advised that no new trailers or temporary living structures were permitted on Laurie Dr.
137. VOLUNTARY UNIVERSAL PRE-KINDERGARTEN EDUCATION IN FLORIDA
Infancy and early childhood development set the stage for a child's future ability to interact socially and achieve academically, and extensive research on the human brain shows the from birth to age 5 children rapidly develop the lanuage and cognitive capabilities and emotional, social, regulartory and moral capacities upon which child development proceeds. To this end, the critical dimensions must be nurtured in early, high quality, active learning pre-kindergarten programs for all FLorida four-year-old children to provide both short and long-term benefits, including later school success.
138. Anti Wal-Mart Development at intersection of Cahill and Concord in Inver Grove Heights, MN.
Citizens for a Better IGH opposes a proposed Wal-Mart at the corner of Cahill Avenue and Concord Blvd. While IGH needs more retail, restaurants, office space, and other venues, a singular warehouse-style building is not an appropriate use for the Concord/Cahill site.
139. Support Slow Growth For Leesburg--No Leesburg Annexation
The Leesburg Town Council has proposed an Annexation Plan which will almost double the area of the town, and could allow 6.5 times more commercial space than is currently built in Leesburg.
It will promote rampant overdevelopment, increased population, more cars, congestion and pollution. The Town will lose its istoric character and the natural environment will suffer great losses. Quality of life for residents will go down.
Though the Town has claimed that the annexation plan offers many benefits, such as increased revenues and new roads, these claims are based on misguided expectations, and myths.
The Town Council's economic projections for annexation are based on commercial development equal to half of Tyson's Corner. This would increase residential growth pressure, and result in higher taxes.
More town-controlled land won't lure high tech offices to Leesburg, but it is likely to scatter commercial development and contribute to further transportation problems.
Added neighborhoods will pay added Town taxes, with a questionable increase in services.
New roads don't solve congestion problems, but instead lead to more development and new congestion. The Town will have to convert rural land to suburban development so that developer money can build a new outer Bypass built. Instead, the existing Bypass needs to be fixed to work properly.
Most importantly, the Town's Annexation Plan contradicts what local residents want--slower growth. Annexation will increase growth pressures as land speculators look for profits.
The Loudoun County Board of Supervisors has been actively working to respond to local citizens' call for slower growth. This Plan is designed to overturn those efforts in the Leesburg area.
If you support slower growth in Loudoun and Leesburg, please sign this petition.
140. Save the Barren and Green Rivers
The Mammoth Cave Region and Barren River are being impacted by intrusive industry. This area is relatively unpolluted and the law enforcement against pollution lax. There are some people who are taking advantage of the local people by moving into the Warren County to spread destruction and pollution.
The Warren County Judge Executive Buchannon and Mayor Sandy Jones are responsible for the development and destruction of the karst region. The Judge and Mayor are backing development plans that are inconsiderate of the fragile ecology of the region. The Mayor is supporting an "enterprise zone" to develop a tourist attraction in the Barren River wetlands. The Judge Executive is trying to build an "Industrial Park" (Transmodal Park) and airport in the Mammoth Cave area.
141. Stop The New Reactor At Lucas Heights
For several decades the former Australian Atomic Energy Commission, now the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation has been making application to successive Commonwealth Governments for a replacement to the multipurpose reactor HIFAR at Lucas Heights.
In 1992 a public inquiry was conducted by the Commonwealth Government called the Research Reactor Review, or McKinnon Review. The Review recommended a 5-year pause on consideration of the case for a new reactor for further assessment of issues including questions on Australia's need for a new reactor.
In 1997 the current Commonwealth Government announced that a new nuclear reactor would be established at Lucas Heights pending assessment under the Environment Protection Impact of Proposals Act, 1974. An Environmental Impact Statement process was undertaken, resulting in a favourable report from the Commonwealth Minister for Health. Assessment included review of the proposal by three international peer review agencies. The Commonwealth Government confirmed its intention to proceed with the proposal in 1998. Tendering for the proposal was completed by June 2000 and the tender granted to Argentinian company INVAP. The licensing process for design and construction of the new reactor is currently under way, with approval to be granted by ARPANSA in February 2002. The new reactor, to be commissioned around 2006 will be twice the power rating of the existing reactor, which will be decommissioned at a date to be confirmed.
It is understood that a replacement reactor locational study employing international consultants was undertaken around 1996. The public and the councils were not included in this undertaking, which appears to have been performed by the Commonwealth Department of Industry Science and Tourism with advice from ANSTO. The locational study report remains a Cabinet-in-Confidence document.
A cost for the proposed reactor of $286 million has been estimated by ANSTO as part of the current development assessment process although secret government documents obtained via Freedom of Information requests made by Sutherland Shire Council have revealed that the government’s own cost estimate is around $500 million. No design for the reactor has yet been revealed, despite the international peer review stating that the safety arguments used to justify the proposal now impose specific design constraints on the reactor in order to achieve these promised safety levels.
In spite of polls, submissions, lobbying and the actions of several state governments to prohibit the development of the dumpsites which will be unavoidable with a new reactor, the Liberal Government is continuing it's blind charge towards a future contaminated with the nuclear waste produced by the proposed new reactor.
Please take this opportunity to voice your opposition to this project and to raise the call for a nuclear free future.
142. .PSDL City Editing W/ ZModeler
Oleg M., maker of ZModeler has been working on a .PSDL filter for ZModeler so we can edit city files in ZModeler. PC425@Creative-City2 has made a .PSDL editor before Oleg M., but not for Zmodeler.
The .PSDL editor that PC425 made is very hard to use in my opinion, and very buggy also.
PC425's .PSDL editor does the job, but not the best.
Please sign this petition to have Oleg M. continue development of the .PSDL filter for Zmodeler! Please have all your friends sign this too.
I cannot guarantee Oleg M. will continue development, but its worth a try - right? PS: No hard feelings here pls, PC425, I respect your work, but we just need a better editor.
143. South Asian Studies at UCLA
What must a region do to earn academic standing at a university? The region of South Asia, rich in history and culture and complicated in its development, is home to one out of every six people on the globe. Students at the University of California, Los Angeles, (UCLA) were thus stunned to find that there was no academic avenue to pursue a degree in the subject; not as a minor, a major, nor as graduate studies. They were furthermore dispirited by the absence of a South Asian Studies Center at UCLA, to coordinate the exchange of ideas between faculty and students.
As the South Asian Studies Task Force we turn to you, our friends in the community, for assistance. Your signature on this petition will show evidence for the demand for such a program at UCLA and at other universities across the nation. Your signature will also reflect the greater pursuit of ethnic studies for various groups. At the largest level, each signature will show support for student access to education.
We are confidant that our efforts can guide and support other groups as they pursue similar goals. Thus, a signature would help not only present and future UCLA students, but also any student wanting to make his/her voice heard in the educational process.
Thank you for your support and we welcome your comments.
Sincerely,
South Asian Studies Task Force

144. Save our Southend
Save our Southend was set up to ensure professional soccer remains in Southend. The planning application to add to Southend's amenities, around a focal point of a new Stadium, together with a leisure and Hotel development on the Fossetts Farm Site, should be fully supported.
