1. Tullos Hill Meadowlands & Deer Park

Controversial plans to plant 89,000 trees on Tullos Hill, Aberdeen, are under fire from the public, community councils, animal charities and experts. This petition seeks to preserve this crucial wildlife habitat as the rich meadowland it already is. The city has approved plans to build on other nearby meadows, which will be lost forever.

The tree planting scheme would require a cull of roe deer - because it is allegedly the cheapest option to protect the trees. The deer have lived in this area for generations, live approximately 6-7 years, and according to some accounts are nearly tame. Non-lethal ways to protect the trees exist – but the supporters of the tree scheme refuse to spend money on these when killing is cheaper.

The Scottish Society for the Protection of Animals has called the tree scheme ‘abhorrent and absurd’ – a sentiment shared by the thousands who have already signed petitions to save the deer. There is no evidence the deer are in any danger of starving or over-population; the City is belatedly making sweeping statements that culls are part of land management. The original reason the cull was proposed is, and remains, the tree scheme. There was a public consultation – but shooting the deer was never mentioned at the time (even though using rabbit fences was mentioned). This consultation put out a misleading impression that animal issues had been thought through and only the rabbits were worth mentioning. This is one of the reasons the objections to the scheme are so strong.

The tree scheme also requires several years of weed-killer spraying, the effects and cost of which are unknown at this time. The proponents of the tree scheme also plan gorse clearance (gorse provides year-round food and shelter to many forms of wildlife), loss of feeding and breeding meadow and grass lands, and loss or damage to small archaeological sites which are dotted all over the hill. There are several large Bronze Age cairns on the site, which would be obstructed by trees.

There is no justification for changing one ecosystem for another - particularly when the previous attempt failed (due to weeds, vandalism, poor soil, wind and deer browsing) – which cost the taxpayer a minimum of £43,800. Perhaps there would have been less deer damage if the recommended size of tree guards had been used, but instead of the 120cm guards recommended 90cm ones were put in.

There is no proof that the new tree planting scheme would be more successful than the previous attempt. It is now recognised that meadows are being lost at a phenomenal rate, and this petition calls upon the relevant bodies to protect and enhance Tullos Hill. These are some, but not all, of the reasons why this scheme – originally a Liberal Democrat election pledge – should be abandoned.

2. Save the Wolves

Wolves are the ancestor of domestic dogs. Many people think that they are dangerous creatures, but they are only dangerous if they are tormented or if they are starving hungry because humans have driven away their prey.

Ranchers often fire the guns in the air to frighten the wolves instead of killing them. Despite this, however, the US government plan on culling wolves. The methods used here would be extremely cruel and would probably involve poisoning and shooting.

Despite what some people may tell you, shooting is not a humane death. If you miss and hit an animal in the wrong place, you can injure it and it will probably die slowly due to blood loss or starvation. Poisoning is also a very cruel death. The animals that are poisoned can, depending on the type of poison, take hours to die, and they will almost certainly be in terrible pain.

Wolves are an endangered species and we don't know how many are left now. This "cull" could bring the species even closer to extinction.

3. Introduce legislation to control urban foxes

The issue of urban foxes needs to be addressed sensibly, not sentimentally. Urban foxes have no control predator, so their numbers and the nuisance associated with them has increased steadily over the last decade or two.

A 27-pound, 4-foot-long fox was recently killed in one town after killing a cat. Some 34,000 urban foxes live in Britain, foxes often carry fleas and can easily pass on diseases such as distemper, mange and scabies.

12:01AM GMT 06 Feb 2005
Urban foxes are attacking and killing pet cats because they are struggling to find enough food to eat in British towns and cities. Cat owners have reported an increasing number of attacks and pest control specialists say that the use of wheelie bins, rather than bin bags, for rubbish disposal is partly to blame because it has deprived many foxes of an easy source of food.

Gordon Manson, a pest controller from Balerno, near Edinburgh, says that the number of fox-related calls he receives has doubled. "The population has got out of hand and because of wheelie bins they are no longer able to find their regular supply of food," he said.

"Now they are moving on to pets. I have done jobs where I have turned up to find a cat's head in the garden. I've had about 40 to 60 calls from people bothered by foxes over the past year and usually it is more like 20 to 30."

Janet MacPhail, a 57-year-old nurse from Edinburgh, was recently woken in the night by screams coming from her garden. "We found a pack of six foxes attacking our cat, Clover. We managed to chase the foxes away, but she was badly mauled and had one eye missing, so we were forced to put her down.

"We feel that foxes are a pest and steps should be taken to keep them under control, but we spoke with the our local council who told us they had no policy on controlling urban foxes," she said.

Mike Hall, a veterinary surgeon at the Braid Veterinary Hospital where Clover was put down, said that he was dealing with a growing number of cats with fox-related injuries. "We have been seeing more examples of cats with fox bites recently, whereas 10 years ago it was unheard of," he said.

"I had one client who woke early one morning to find a fox chasing her cat around the dining room, having got in through the catflap. Foxes are becoming braver in what they will look for as prey."

Bob Drinkwater, a community centre manager from Stamford Hill, north London, recently saved Mica, his tabby cat, from a vicious fox attack. "Luckily I managed to frighten the fox off, but it had taken a large bite out of Mica's back legs, for which she needed stitches and anti-biotics. I had always heard that foxes don't attack cats, but clearly they do and need to be kept under control."Kevin Stanley, a chef from Bexleyheath in Kent, who saw his cat being killed by two foxes, called for a cull. "Urban foxes should be exterminated and I would support any humane way of getting rid of them.

It won't be long before a tragedy involving a child occurs because foxes are so daring now," he said. The Countryside Alliance also called for stricter controls on the fox population. A spokesman said: "Now the fox is also an urban force, more must be done to ensure the population does not spiral out of control, because the impact on pets would be severe."

A spokesman for the Cats Protection League said its members were increasingly concerned about fox attacks on their pets. "While we still consider cars to be a greater threat, we are taking more calls from members who are worried about fox attacks," she said. "Our advice is to make sure cats are kept indoors at night."Out of a total fox population of 240,000, approximately 35,000 animals are urban foxes.

Attacks on humans:
• On 26 June 2002, a fox attacked a 14-week-old boy in Dartford, Kent, UK, grabbing the child's head and attempting to drag him outside before being chased off by the boy's parents.
• In June 2010, an urban fox entered a family home in London, UK, and attacked twin baby girls, who were sleeping in their cots.
• In October 2010, it was alleged in the press that a fox bit off the nose and 2½ fingers of a comatose 37-year-old man in Inveresk, East Lothian, UK.

Foxes are canids and one of their behaviours is to catch, kill and store food In recent years the Urban Fox population has spiralled out of control. Their numbers have increased because of the amount of food readily available to them: fast food thrown on the street, people feeding them, rubbish left out, etc. They breed rapidly because of the amount of food available and many more cubs survive to grow up and breed. More and more reports from vets say that cats and small dogs are also being attacked by foxes.

Foxes have become increasingly vicious, fearless and aggressive and are no longer scared of dogs. They are now a common sight in broad daylight. In almost any city or town all over the country you see foxes running up and down the pavements all day and night long.

In many towns and cities, especially London,  it has been estimated that there are between 20 and 30 foxes per square mile. In the country, a single fox might have a territory of at least 2 square miles.

4. Stop cockatoo culls in Potts Point

Property owners in Potts Point have applied for permits from NSW National Parks and Wildlife to kill (cull) sulphur crested cockatoos in order to prevent damage to their buildings. Culling wild birds in urban areas is unnecessary, unethical, unsafe and inevitably fails to protect property.

It has been documented that previous culls of sulphur crested cockatoos in Potts Point and other parts of Sydney have not worked. There are many humane and much more effective alternatives to culling as a form of property protection.

These beautiful, intelligent, wild birds are beloved by many residents in our wonderful community. They add fun and an innocent wildness to our highly urbanised environment. Cockatoos are part of Sydney, and they have a right to co-exist peacefully with humans. It is our responsibility to adapt our built environments to the needs and habits of native wildlife.

5. Stop the badger cull

Badgers are very cute, innocent animals. They have hardly ever attacked anyone. Despite what people may think, they are not all vegetarian, they sometimes eat mice or even baby rabbits.

Despite their innocence, the UK government and DEFRA are planning to cull them. Although the Welsh badger cull has been stopped, the English one may still take place. It is to do with stopping the spread of TB onto cattle, but this could quite easily be done be researching for a new vaccine against TB for the cattle.

One of the methods used to kill badgers would be gassing them in their setts, and this is very, very cruel. It doesn't even mean aninstant death, and even if it did the cull still wouldn't be justified. Rather, it means a very painful death for the badgers.

6. Stop the Tullos Deer Cull

Aberdeen City Council have designated Tullos Hill as a site that they want to plant trees on as part of a 'tree for every citizen' scheme. However their is a long-established Roe Deer community on Tullos Hill and they would eat the saplings.

On 3rd March 2011 the Council provisionally took the decision to cull the deer. However they have postponed the cull until 10th May to allow people to raise £225,000 to fund tree guards and other measures to protect the saplings.

This is completely outrageous. They is no demand to put trees on Tullos Hill and even if the Council believe that trees are a good idea there is no need to kill the wild animals whose home it is.

Animal welfare groups are dismayed, for example, Scottish SPCA's Mike Flynn said:"We firmly believe culls should only take place to protect the public or for animal welfare reasons.

"It is absurd and abhorrent to undertake a cull because it would be too costly to protect trees.

"We would suggest these trees should either be planted elsewhere or not at all. Trees should certainly not be planted at the expense of the lives of animals."

Please sign the epetition and together we can save the deer.

7. Petition to stop the cockatoo cull at Broadway

The proposal by the Sydney Campus Apartments to shoot sulphur crested cockatoos in order to prevent further damage to their building is unethical, unsafe and doomed to failure.

Two of these beautiful, intelligent, long lived birds have already been shot under licence from the National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) in the name of protecting building facades, yet this has not solved the problem. In only a matter of months another bird has moved into the area and started damaging the building, prompting a new request for a culling licence.

If this bird is shot, what’s to stop more coming along? Will these be shot too? When will it end?

8. Stop the aerial slaughter of our camels!

The Australian Government are planning a mass aerial cull of 100s of thousands of camels over the next 4 years. The most experienced marksmen cannot possibly shoot a fatal blow from a helicopter to that many camels which will result in many of them suffering for days on end in extreme agony on the ground. The rotting carcasses of the camels left on the ground will pollute the sacred water holes which is worse for the environment than letting the camels live. They are also promoting the eating of camel meat and exporting the camels dead or alive for their meat and milk.

The only humane way to control the camel population is to introduce contraception to these docile animals to prevent them from breeding which mass culling will not do. The cull is also bad for Australian tourism as it is condemned by numerous other countries.

There was an aerial slaughter of 1,500 camels that went ahead secretly in November 2010!

The next slaughter is set to commence in the summer of 2010/2011

9. Save The Geese

Residents have branded a cull of Canada Geese 'barbaric' after they were woken early in the morning by the sound of gunfire in a neighbourhood park.

Rugeley-based Wildlife Management Services have been contracted by Stoke-on-Trent City Council to cull the geese.

10. Brumbies are Beautiful

There has been much talk of the issue of Brumby Culling on the internet since 2007, when the first culls were carried out by the Federal Government.

Also, citizens have taken it into their own hands and started culling the horses themselves.

No matter who it is done by, it is inhumane and Australia's Heritage Brumbies should be protected, not culled.

11. Stop Brumby Culls!

Wild Brumbies are being unfairly shot from the air, then left to die. This is a horrible practice and has awful consequences. There is evidence of a mare that gave birth while she died. The foal was left with a dead mother. Days later, he was found dehydrated, starving and with a broken leg. The poor foal was in such bad condition that he had to be euthanased.

Stallion brumbies spend their entire lives building an established herd and all this can be destroyed in a second.

12. Stop The Kangaroo Cull

A controversial cull of hundreds of kangaroos at a defence site in Canberra has begun, despite the pleas of animal welfare activists for it to be called off.

Dozens of kangaroos today were herded into pens before disappearing behind hessian screens, where some were apparently euthanized.

Despite no official confirmation of the cull, witnesses at the site said the tranquillising and killing of the animals had begun.

The stop-start cull of about 400 eastern grey kangaroos on the former naval site in suburban Belconnen has attracted international media attention.

The Department of Defence says the cull is necessary to protect native grasslands and threatened species, and avoid starvation among the kangaroos.

The planned method of slaughter is to tranquillise the animals with the use of darts and then kill them with a lethal injection.

Onlookers said they saw animals being herded into a fenced-off pen and a covered trailer was seen arriving and departing the area.

A nearby worker, Stewart Darville, told AAP he believed "eight or nine" of the animals had been killed by early afternoon.

He and other onlookers said kangaroos were being moved in lots of about half a dozen into an secondary pen surrounded by hessian material.

AAP witnessed at least three jump the nearly three-metre-high fence around the area where the animals were to be darted.

Another roo, which possibly escaped after being darted, was seen lying lifeless on the ground.

I may be only 16 but killing off hundreds of animals because someone can't be bothered paying OUR tax money to simply re-locate them is completely just idiotic and frustrating.

13. Save ALL the Kangaroos

URGENT - CANBERRA/ACT KANGAROOS NEED YOUR HELP - Please sign this petition as individuals, and send to everyone else, if you have a website, please add this petition's link to it.

Please check out http://www.myspace.com/wcginc and facebook for horrific photos of roo cruelty, this is the reality, and please follow us, and join us on twitter http://twitter.com/wildlifecarersg .

UPDATE: Our native roos are again being slaughtered in 2011, edited Letter to PM:

Thank you very much for stopping LIVE EXPORT.

We now ask you to URGENTLY stop the inhumane, cold blooded murder of our innocent native kangaroos, and other wildlife, in the ACT and Australia wide, and to shut down the inhumane commercial industry Australia wide on our native wildlife, kangaroos/macropods, possums, emus, etc.

We have not received a response from your office, even though this was marked EXTREMELY URGENT, and the killing has continued in the ACT.

The legal letter was sent as a warning and has been ignored, with the shooting continuing.

The ACT government only give notice late in the day, the day before the killing is to commence, to disallow any defence to be prepared to stop the kill of innocent native animals.

GROUNDS TO STOP THE ROO KILL AND ABOLISH SELF GOVERNMENT:

Fraud has been committed by legislating a conjunctional document, that is not based on any scientific evidence or facts, written by inexperienced, unqualified people with no knowledge in kangaroos and the environment, who hate kangaroos, which labels them as having a 'conflict of interest', with experts ignored to amend it, de-legislate the kangaroo management plan, and cease killing protected, INNOCENT, native kangaroos.

Further fraud has been committed by paying unqualified, inexperienced people with no knowledge in kangaroos and the environment, with taxpayers money, and appointing them onto advisory committees.

ANIMAL WELFARE - Please copy and paste links below, to kangaroo cruelty into your browser, to view the horror. Kangaroos are killed in an extremely inhumane manner. Legally kangaroos killed are required to be killed by a single shot to the brain. there are instances where kangaroos are not killed in this manner. As a result, the kangaroo is shot agonisingly in the jaw, neck or the body, flees in response and will suffer a prolonged and painful death.

These joeys are killed often by shooters smashing them into the ground, against tow bars of cars or with a metal pipe or other blunt instrument. Alternatively, when not caught, an out of pouch joey will be left to fend for itself and will generally die of predation, starvation or dehydration. This is not to mention the stress suffered by kangaroos from hearing shots being fired and from being chased down by shooters.

Please check out This link 'KANGAROO CHILLER BOX INVESTIGATION' from animal liberation which wildlife warriors also have the same link to on youtube, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=18MoxO9yJa8&feature=related that contains the cruel bashing to death of roos shot but not directly killed, hung up while still alive, and left suffering, trembling as they hang, tortured to death, and joeys bashed to death, possibly attempting to decapitate the joeys head on the back of the truck with several blows.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zbn3c8EcNRk&feature=related, so called controlled government butchering, you will note that the kangaroos are still alive when hung up, suffering, AND BEING TORTURED TO DEATH, the male is laughing at the cruelty he has just inflicted on this kangaroo, a joey stomped to death, even the child stomps on it as he walks past following his father, orphaned joeys hopping around, left to starve to death, a joey bashed till its eyes popped out, but is still alive, suffering, a prolonged death, and the male admitting that these are protected species. Native protected animals called pests, the very same native animals that maintain a healthy well balanced eco system. The code of practice that the shooter refers to is inhumane, and unacceptable, as witnessed in this video footage. Kangaroos are not fit for human or dog consumption, heavily contaminated with various diseases/harmful bacterias, e.coli, salmonella, etc. Keep watching till it stops, keep an eye on the timer, next to the speaker symbol, length 10:59.

Kangaroos don't need to be killed with this spray, that deters them:

If Kangaroos are a problem for your crops,
we have a environmentally friendly soil spray
that harmonises the environment, so Roos
no longer wish to be there.
There is no smell, no poisonous substances and
no harm done to any plant or animal.
"It all in the vibe"
This product can be applied with any other spray round.
Contact us on 04091166269 (ref: online Canberra Times ad choices)

This product cannot be over used, since vegetation/native flora is there for our native wildlife to consume. If over used the kangaroos will starve to death.

No evidence to support that this cull is necessary.

No documented evidence to support this cull.

No figures of population of roos.

No evidence of documented damage.

In this article, Nora Preston interviewed on 15/4/10, www.nowuc.com.au/2010/05/27/kangaroo-plan.../comment-page-1/ don fletcher from tams says that kangaroos are not the main problem and in fact'native grasses' are not threatened with extinction, but other animals and plants are, and that "the biggest 'contributor' to the loss of the natural treeless grasslands of our region has been agriculture (by far)".

This statement is admitting to the flawed, dishonest kangaroo management plan, and russell watkinson's media release, on Friday 18/6/10, that blames the kangaroos for driving legless lizards, earless dragons, etc, and the deteriorating grasslands and woodlands to extinction, by eating all the grasses, when fletcher admits that the native grasses are not threatened by the kangaroos, but by human activity, including toxic sprays.

Please check out this link that was in the Canberra times on 17/10/09, that completely refutes the allegations against the roos destroying grasslands, that was sent to maxine cooper, that were also ignored.

The report is by Julie Lindner, who has also been studying the grasslands and the roos for the past 20 years, which backs up what I've been saying all along.

http://www.canberratimes.com.au/news/local/news/general/roo-best-custodian-for-some-plants/1652005.aspx

The kangaroo management plan is conjunctional, and not based on any scientific facts.

The only objects that are causing the destruction of grasslands, woodlands, threatened species and ecosystems are tams staff and their shooters, and the government that fails to listen to the experts, and end this inhumane, unnecessary practise.

Claiming to murder 3,427 kangaroos, on the same sites as last year, the tams department are yet to prove that this population exists, since they do not count them.

The unnecessary kangaroo cull cannot take place before Maxine cooper's investigations with Wildlife Carers Group and 3 ecologists who are experts with kangaroos and the environment, is finalised.

It is extremely important that you order the cull to stop immediately, until the facts are exposed and the kangaroo management plan is amended, removing all the false allegations against kangaroos causing damage to the environment, for which there is absolutely no scientific evidence or fact for.

Wildlife Carers Group meeting with Maxine Cooper last year, that Nora Preston attended with Dror Ben-Ami, Daniel Ramp, and David Croft, ecologists and experts in kangaroos and the environment, David Croft repeated Nora's constant warnings to stop killing the kangaroos in the ACT, to leave them alone, before they are driven to extinction.

Wildlife Carers Group have personally been warning the ACT Government, and their lack of care/rehabilitation of the Eastern Greys, over culling, driving them to extinction, that would lead to legal action, under the animal welfare act, since 2005.

There are no grounds for this cull to go ahead, other than a destructive department's staff, who have no knowledge or expertise in kangaroos, or the environment.

This department have not, and never do, count the kangaroos, Wildlife Carers Group do.

Wildlife Carers Group have therefore repeatedly requested that all applications to kill wildlife be handed over to Wildlife Carers Group, to be investigated, before any cull licences/permits are issued, and further that a $2000 fee be charged for applying to kill a native animal.

We look forward to you ordering the required changes, stopping this unnecessary cull, and handing over the application to cull to Wildlife Carers Group to investigate.

The tams department, hands out permits to cull to private land owners as well as culling our native kangaroos themselves, and have thoroughly depleted our population. The department has to be stopped from handing out any further permits to cull to private land owners as well.

You need to be made aware, that our native kangaroos maintain a healthy well balanced Eco system with the loss of any single species causing serious ramifications throughout the Eco system.

Without the kangaroos gentle grazing, the areas turn into a dust bowl, vegetation dies, this is scientifically proven.

Kangaroos are soft footed, and cause no damage to the environment, and do not cause any loss to any other species, the loss to any species is caused by tams and their advisers who should have been sacked in 2005.

They provide natural fertilisation to the vegetation.

Taxpayers are not prepared to pay for this cull, nor any other culls in the future, or continue to pay wages for the unqualified advisory committee.

The money is there to save our native wildlife and their habitat, without committing death or acts of animal cruelty.

the chronicle, page 7, 7/6/11, article 'cull aims to control roos', by Meredith Clisby.

Firstly the strict code of practise was not endorsed by authorities that have expertise and knowledge, and who care. The code of practice is inhumane, and not acceptable, as seen in http://wcg.awardspace.com.

This article is a very biased article, only giving one side, failing to point out the legalities, and the facts.

The article further writes what Sarah Hnatiuk said who is coordinator of Friends of Mount Painter Park Care Group.

This person is not qualified to make statements on who caused bald patches, on Mount Painter, and we can state that the kangaroos did not cause them.

When we staked out mt painter, we saw horses in there, tams in their 4wd's driving around like hoons, shooters disturbing the area, also allowed to drive around, that also trail bikes enter and ride around in.

This was confirmed again on 9/6/11 when tams and the shooters were seen driving through the gates of Mt Painter, and upto the top of the hill.

I will remind you of my email dated 6/6/11, on the documentary CANE TOADS "it's a documentary exposing an incompetent and unqualified government, that appeared to take advice from cane growers, without fully researching the cane toad in the Australian climate, in an enclosed laboratory where they should've been growing the cane and release the toads in an enclosed environment, to research whether or not they would kill the cane beetles that were destroying the cane, prior to releasing them into the cane fields, they would have avoided this devastation and found out that the cane toads would fail in eradicating the cane beetles, because they weren't interested in them" the devastation caused with the cane toads, being introduced into Australia, because a government listened to cane growers, who are not experts in the field of environment and the catastrophic repercussions, that ultimately took over, that would've been avoided if they would've listened to the experts instead.

We are seeing the same problems with our native kangaroos, the government listening to the unqualified, people who for some reason hate kangaroos, who probably don't know why they hate kangaroos themselves, that will only lead to devastation, since native roos maintain a healthy well balanced eco system, with the loss of any single species causing serious ramifications throughout our ecosystem, instead of listening to the experts.

This is how your taxpayers money is being wasted.

URGENT RESPONSE AND ACTION STOP THE CULL.

Sincerely
NORA PRESTON
Founding President
WILDLIFE CARERS GROUP

There are more links on youtube to show the facts on the extreme cruelty committed to our native protected macropods.

Update - Meeting on Kangaroos, held on Thursday 14/10/10 with Maxine Cooper, Commissioner of Sustainability and Environment, (in Maxine's office) Nora Preston, 3 interstate ecologists, and their own legal advisor. Wildlife Carers Group's Kangaroo Park and Wildlife Sanctuary cost is being investigated, along with Wildlife Rehabilitation Licence that excludes full term rehabilitation for sick, injured, orphaned native Eastern Grey Kangaroos. Nora Preston had David Croft from Darwin, included in this meeting through telephone conference, while the rest of us were personally in attendance. David Croft also advised to stop killing the kangaroos, and to stop the land development in the ACT.

We were asked to comment on the current fictional, conjunctional Kangaroo Management Plan, using references.

Nora has recommended a new expert advisory committee, David Croft, Nora Preston, Dror Ben-Ami, Daniel Ramp, Keely Boom, to replace all the current unqualified non'expert' advisory committees.

All the senseless killings in the past 3 years were raised, tams research, and animal welfare.

Will update as information comes on hand.

Kangaroo Management Plan FLAWED
More recently, a media interview 15/4/10, that shows that the government kangaroo management plan is seriously flawed, with the government ignoring expert advice.

Further to this interview, that took place on 15/4/10, www.nowuc.com.au/2010/05/27/kangaroo-plan.../comment-page-1/ . You can leave a comment on this link.

Clearly only the unqualified believe that the kangaroo management plan is well thought out, and that the culling needs to continue.

The problems with continued false reports/statements sent to the media, and injected into the kangaroo management plan, need to be rectified, and amended, that is flawed, dishonest, and immoral.

The government needs to make necessary changes and start taking advice only from those with expertise and knowledge in these areas.

Continuing to allow unqualified advisers to make important decisions about our kangaroos, wildlife, wildlife rehabilitation licences, is a serious breach of animal welfare, is causing more harm than good, and contributing to climate change.

There is plenty of native grasses for these reptiles to survive in.

After doing the UC interview, I was invited to attend the grasslands workshop last month, 20 May 2010, held at CSIRO in Gungahlin, where fletcher was also present, and was one of the speakers.

He once again got up, showed google photos of deteriorated grasslands, and once again, falsely accused the kangaroos of causing this destruction, attempting to outrage the audience, and cause unwarranted ill feelings towards the innocent macropods.

I corrected this deliberate erroneous attack on the kangaroos and false statement.

Therefore this bounty on kangaroos, false media releases, false statements at workshops, meetings, seminars etc, need to stop against the kangaroos, and so does the inhumane killing.

Wildlife Carers Group has been fighting to have the licence amended since 2005.

Mother nature is not forgiving in the destruction of the land, stripping her of all her natural nutrients, that includes kangaroos, wildlife and wildlife habitat.

There will be irreversible repercussions, caused by Mother Nature, until no life is left, if the government does not stop taking advice from advisers who have no expertise or knowledge in these areas, make the necessary changes, and start taking advice only from those with expertise and knowledge in these areas.

You can help us make the necessary changes by signing this petition, and circulating this for us www.gopetition.com/petitions/save-all-the-kangaroos.html, that will fill you in with more information.

The fact is that the Australian government is driving our native Eastern Grey Kangaroos to extinction, with deliberate false media releases, false kangaroo management plans, and false reports.

You should also know that wildlife is not fit for pet or human consumption, spreading diseases, bacterial, etc, and that government approved shooters, are not concerned about the animals welfare, hygiene, and whether or not the meat is suitable for pet or human consumption, and the fact that they are driving our native wildlife to extinction, they are only in it for greed, for the money.

We urge you to cancel all wildlife products from Australia, and boycott this country's products, until and please urge this country to cease killing/harvesting our wildlife, to prevent them from driving our valuable native wildlife to extinction.

No matter what this government writes on paper, which is flawed, they will attempt to convince you, that the shooters/harvesters are humane, because of the kangaroo management plan, and are government authorised, no one polices (supervises) the shooters, and they continue to commit acts of animal cruelty, as you can witness on the youtube links.

In early May 2009, majura defence firing site unnecessarily commenced torturing our native kangaroos to death, once again using inexperienced security guards, using the roos for target practice, with acts of animal cruelty being reported to Wildlife Carers Group.

Since Wildlife Carers Group had not counted the kangaroos, the population is unknown, therefore the population of over 3,000 they claim that they have killed in such a short time is unbelievable.

NSW Animal Liberation (AL) served defence with a court injunction, and stopped the kill. June 2, 3 ,4, 5 was spent in court that Wildlife Carers Group/I personally attended for 4 full days. The conservator of flora and fauna/ACT government responded to the court injunction. Defence withdrew on the first day of the hearing, because they didn't want to have to pay the legal costs if they lost, successfully spending the day arguing why they should be allowed to withdraw, and yet still be allowed to argue for conservator of flora and fauna in their defence.

Unfortunately NSW AL lost the court case. The tribunal erred when they failed to record and note, the evidence heard in court by tams, that the damage caused within the fenced area was due to defence and occasionally tams staff, entering the area to unnecessarily herd the roos out, 2 or 3 times a week, which deteriorated and caused the unsightly damage to the area.

We are still fighting to stop development on the bnts site, and to turn this site into the Wildlife Carers Group proposed Kangaroo Park and Wildlife Sanctuary in tribute to the kangaroos who were inhumanely tortured to death on this site.

After the defence/majura site 2009 unnecessary cruel slaughter of the roos, The ACT government then went ahead and tortured the kangaroos to death all around the entire ACT reserves.

NSW AL again hit the ACT government with a court injunction to stop the killing on the same day that it commenced, however, the government then stopped the kill prior to the hearing, one week later, therefore, NSW AL withdrew their court action.

In 2009, after pre election promises of changes to be made, by the Labor government, NO CHANGES HAVE OCCURRED.

If you would like to end animal cruelty and violence, and terminate the people holding the positions who are responsible for, and were involved in these unlawful acts of animal cruelty, and publishing/submitting fictitious reports, driving our native wildlife to extinction, who have no knowledge or expertise in their positions they hold, please sign this petition.

The slaughters were unnecessary.

These people, who have absolutely no expertise and knowledge in Kangaroos/macropods, or any other wildlife, are holding extremely important positions, and are not only aiding in placing this country into deficit, by being paid hard earned taxpayers money, but are also aiding in driving our native wildlife to extinction, and with that, aiding in destroying the human race, aiding in climate change, destroying the healthy, well balanced eco system that our native Eastern Grey Kangaroos, and other wildlife assist in maintaining.

In 2009, more licences to kill our native roos, have been issued, with the same people still in office, still continuing with their fictitious reports and advice to the government.

The native Eastern Grey Kangaroos are not in plague proportions, it only appears so, because they have lost their habitat, so we can see more of them, and although it is great to see them, it is extremely sad that they have lost so much of their habitat through mismanagement by tams/conservator, and other government advisers.

Wildlife Carers Group has again submitted the City Kangaroo Park/Wildlife Sanctuary, with horror pictures from the 2008 bnts site inhumane slaughter, photos of Rose Cottage horse paddock, counting 193 roos in 2008, opposing rspca's count of a well rounded up but unrealistic figure of 2000, along with alternatives to killing, that is wasting taxpayers money, placing this state and country into further deficit.

The horse agistment paddocks are wildlife corridors, for our wildlife, they will not be killed for lawfully being in their wildlife corridors, for horses.

Article in The Chronicle, p.20 northside and southside, unsure about the other parts of canberra/queanbeyan, Tuesday 14 April 2009, 'Roo protectors bounce to action'.

This article www.canberratimes.com.au/news/local/news/general/roo-control-will-require-more-culls-stanhope-says/1462007.aspx?... mentions that I would prefer the fertility program, however, I specified, HUMANE fertility program. Bromocriptine, and some of the other methods are not humane, and must be aborted.

Fertility programs have to be monitored, because if over used, will bring on the same results, extinction of our native Eastern Grey Kangaroos.

Don't believe the minority of horse owners either, (not all horse owners have these misconceived views about our native kangaroos), kangaroos are not starving to death, where they are agisting their horses, the roos have more than likely been road kills, that have crawled away there, and died, or killed by the rangers and left in the horse agistment paddocks to rot.

The pasture belongs to our native kangaroos and wildlife, not the farmers (who incidentally, get a government subsidy to help them protect and save our wildlife on their properties, some of who appear to be abusing that government hand out), and the horse owners who agist their horses.

Their horses are agisted in wildlife corridors that belong to our native wildlife, that includes our native Eastern Grey Kangaroos.

The hoofed animals live harmoniously with our native roos, These people will just have to learn to live with them as well.

If we are to turn this devastation around, of the destruction of our planet, we need to declare AUSTRALIA, a wildlife sanctuary, and nurture our wildlife, end violence and unlawful acts of animal cruelty, and unlawful acts of fraudulent reports, that aids in climate change, having a devastating impact on our healthy well balanced eco system, that drives our native wildlife to extinction.

The World should follow, and declare their countries, a wildlife sanctuary.

Remember, we are of the majority, those who want to torture our kangaroos to death, are of the minority.

Update - we are aware that it has been advertised by defence that they unnecessarily, inhumanely, violently massacred 514 Eastern Grey Kangaroos on the bnts site, http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2008/06/04/2265044.htm, that apparently commenced on 17/5/08, (my source) although largely advertised, commenced on 19/5/08, that continued till early June 2008, after announcing on 16/5/08, that the slaughter will commence.

Claims that there were no joeys between April and July, were also found to be false, by these so called 'experts', when the females began to throw their joeys out of their pouches, out of stress, and fear for their joeys, attempting to save them from the human predators.

The females return to pick up their joeys after the danger has passed.

In this case, of course, they were needlessly butchered.

Contrary to the rspca's claim that this unnecessary massacre was humane, The massacre was extremely cruel, conducted by those who were incompetent, negligent, using unqualified, inexperienced staff, including the rspca, security guards from 'pros', etc. Check out www.myspace.com/wcginc for some photos. The photo of frenzied kangaroos shows a security guard herding them. The other photo shows cruel research on the roos. More information on www.geocities.com/wildlife_carers_group/ click on 'news' link.

The remaining kangaroos left on the bnts site, after they were tortured to death, died a horrific inhumane death through tams senior ecologist scientific research, after he inserted fertility drugs up their nose. So much for the ethics committee who are suppose to provide protection to animals against any acts of animal cruelty.

The macropod population is always grossly over exaggerated by the commercial roo industry, farmers, the rspca, etc.

In May 2007 approximately 100 kangaroos were sighted on the BNTS Site.

A site visit on 2 May 2008 with defence personnel, showed a count of under 100 kangaroos, and that food was plentiful.

Another site visit was requested for a recount.

The cull commenced before this second visit was coordinated.

The kangaroos were healthy, but very nervous upon approach, and fled.

A dramatically lower number was also sighted on the Majura Site, than what was led to be believed by the Defence Application to Cull Eastern Grey Kangaroos.

The false and misleading information given in May 2007 were to 'save' the kangaroos from starving and to prevent them from competing with certain endangered grassland species reported to be on these sites - Striped Legless Lizard, Grassland Earless Dragon and the Golden Sun Moth, which later included the Ginninderra Peppercress native grassland, (which the kangaroos can't digest, therefore, don't touch it) and Perunga Grasshopper.

Our observation showed that the Eastern Grey Kangaroos and other wildlife species on this site are coexisting harmoniously.

The cause for certain native flora and fauna species being wiped out is due to leaking buried toxic waste and the spraying of toxic sprays to kill the weeds on both defence sites, along with the over excessive vehicles being driven all over the sites, by man.

More information on the Wildlife Carers Group website, http://wcg.awardspace.com and click on the 'news' link.

BNTS is a 136.8 hectare site with Eastern Grey Kangaroos trapped by a 2.5 metre high kangaroo proof security fence inside a 116ha site at the decommissioned Belconnen Naval Transmission Station (BNTS).

In 5 July 2007, the summit exposed the fact that the decommissioned BNTS site was actually proposed for housing development, with the site being handed over to the ACT Government for FREE.

The Eastern Grey Kangaroos are healthy, therefore, to go ahead with this cull, or relocation of the kangaroos is unnecessary, an act of cruelty, and in breach of the animal welfare act.

Freelance photographer Ray Drew (photograph on this petition) has been documenting the process of the cull, with his daily photographs.

The licence for the cull expired in July 2007, with an application to cull being misleading and misinforming, thereby being null and void.

This petition is to demand the end of unlawful acts of fraudulent reports, unlawful acts of animal cruelty, and the end of the unnecessary killing of our Native Eastern Grey Kangaroos along with other wildlife, tabling WCG alternatives to killing at the next sitting, saving all the kangaroos in the ACT, turning the bnts site into a city Kangaroo Park and Wildlife Sanctuary, to end tams/conservator authority to make decisions in wildlife rehabilitation licences, killing licences, wildlife matters, handing them over to WCG, and to amend the current ACT Wildlife Rehabilitation Licence for the full term rehabilitation of our sick, injured, orphaned native Eastern Grey Kangaroos, an omission of the licence only applying in the ACT, compared to the rest of Australia.

The City Kangaroo Park and Wildlife Sanctuary will house ALL the existing Eastern Grey Kangaroos, and kangaroo proof fencing, along with the only Wildlife Hospital with a public viewing surgery, in the ACT, educational facility, rehabilitation facility, cafes, viewing platforms, extra enclosures for the rehabilitation of the sick, injured, orphaned native Eastern Grey Kangaroos, and other native wildlife, and will prove to be a very successful tourist attraction, increasing tourism to the ACT, preventing the need to cruelly and unnecessarily cull, or relocate any of the kangaroos.

The International Arboretum and Gardens project has been allocated to one of the sites that was wiped out by the ACT bush fires in 2003, rather than the government replanting our native flora, (food source) to assist with the survival of our native fauna, which is rather irresponsible.

Saving ALL our native Eastern Grey Kangaroos.

14. Save The Belconnen Kangaroos!

In May 2007 the media exposed a covert plan by the Department of Defence and the
Australian Capital Territory (ACT) Government to shoot to kill up to 3,200 Kangaroos at two Defence sites in the ACT.

The reasons given at the time: to ‘save’ the kangaroos from starving and to prevent them from competing with certain endangered grassland species reported to be on these sites: the golden sun moth, a legless lizard, and the earless dragon.

Around 500 of these kangaroos are trapped by a 2.5 metre high fence on a 116 hectare parcel of land at the former Belconnen Naval Transmission Station (BNTS). Of these, the plan was for 400 to be killed and have the remaining kangaroos forcefully sterilised. Somewhat extreme and barbaric measures to protect a moth, and unlikely to be the real reason why the ACT Government is so keen to clear this site, as the area around it is earmarked for housing development.

Following an immediate public outcry and subsequent consultations between Defence and a range of interest groups, Defence agreed to consult more widely. Members of Wildcare, a local volunteer wildlife rescue organisation with over 15 years of hands-on experience rescuing and rehabilitating kangaroos, submitted a proposal to Defence recommending a whole-of-ecosystem approach to the kangaroo issue. This preliminary proposal also detailed a workable strategy for the translocation of kangaroos.

Finally in September 2007, after consultations with Wildcare and a panel of experts, Defence announced that it would implement a kangaroo management plan in the ACT designed to promote sound ecological management and a responsible approach to animal welfare. The plan was to use a mix of translocation, fertility control and – only where necessary – euthanasia to bring the kangaroo population into balance with the ecosystem at the BNTS site. The contract to the successful to implement this strategy was awarded in early 2008.

Suddenly on 29 February, the ACT Government announced that it would block any application for a permit to allow the 'export' of kangaroos from the BNTS site. Not coincidentally, the ACT’s official kangaroo ‘culling season’ (killing season) recommenced the very next day.

This is EXTREMELY URGENT! Defence has gone back on their word, and tthe slaughter of these kangaroos on the site STARTED YESTERDAY (19 May 2008) and will continue over the next few days until they've killed more than 400.

These kangaroos are healthy and there is currently ample grass on the site following good rains over summer, and higher than average rain predicted over the coming months. There is absolutely no need for this slaughter to proceed. There are viable alternatives available, including translocation, but Defence has ruled this out as being too expensive. A number of suitable properties in NSW have been proposed to the contractor. The ACT Government’s decision to withhold these permits and mandate the killing of these kangaroos equates to brutal and unnecessary murder of Australia’s most important native species.

Photos of what is happening right now to these kangaroos can be viewed at www.kangaroolives.com and a video news report from yesterday's killing fields is can be viewed here.

Please help us send the ACT and Australian Federal Governments a clear message by signing this petition now! Let these kangaroos live!
