241. Justice For Tharsini
January 17, 2006
In December, 20 year old Tharsini, a pre school teacher in the Sri Lankan army occupied Northern Tamil island of Pungudutivu, was gang raped and murdered, allegedly by members of the Sri Lankan Military; her body found in a well next to a Sri Lankan Military camp.
She was murdered in a government designated 'high security zone' where civilians live, which means that access in and out of the zone is tightly controlled by soldiers. The evidence of the Sri Lankan Military's involvement in the rape, murder and attempted cover up, is extensively documented in a report by the North Easter Secretariat for Human Rights (www.nesohr.org) whose founder member Jospeph Pararajasingham has since been shot allegedly by Sri Lankan military intelligence.
The Pungudituvu Cooperative Society has said in a press release that the Sri Lankan Navy should take responsibility for the murder and has appealed for international action to ensure that women in their island and in neightbouring areas can live without fear of violence from the occupying army. The Pungudutive Welfare Association in the United Kingdom have taken up this appeal.
We, the undersigned join in their appeal and ask for action by the British government and the European Union, to ensure accountability and to prevent future sexual abuse of women in army occupied areas. As we draft this appeal a 16 year old school girl in another part of Jaffna was abducted on her way home from school by Sri Lankan soldiers. Your immediate preventive action is asked for.
Many of those who have appealed for justice for Tharsini so far have been intimidated and some shot by the Sri Lankan Army & Navy.
· When her body was found, residents protested against the Sri Lankan Navy. A 55 year old post man was shot by the Sri Lankan armed forces.
· The University of Jaffna, both its professors and students, then took up the protest. They too, including the Vice Chancellor, Professors and students were assaulted and shot by the Sri Lankan Army.
· Mr Gajendran, TNA Member of Parliament for Jaffna who joined the protest march for justice for Tharsini was injured by the Sri Lankan Army. The TNA party protested in Parliament. But on Christmas Eve, after the protest, the TNA's leading parliamentarian Joseph Pararajasingham was also shot.
· Journalists who covered the protests were assaulted.
We the undersigned, who live in Britain in relative safety, now take up this appeal for immediate and unequivocal action as outlined below.
242. EA-Games - boosterpacks should be free
January 12, 2005
EA-Games wants us to pay for everything!
It started with Battlefield 2, which is normal "It's a complete game", then came a MOD. Battlefield 2 costs $44,95 (according to Amazon.com)
1st of all let me explain what a MOD is,
meaning of a mod according to wikipedia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mod_%28computer_gaming%29
* a mod is a Partial conversion of a game.
* you need to buy the original game to make use of the mod.
* mod's are mostly free because u have to buy the game.
(although mod-makers can ask for a fee to support them)
There are a lot of good mod's for Battlefield 2 coming out these days, all free work. But HARD work, hard work due to the community.
And what does the community ask for it, u get it NOTHING. They just want respect from the gaming community.
Well I say they get our respect.
And then comes EA-games, trying to profit from everything they get there hands on.
So they bring out Battlefield 2 :Special Forces which costs $29,99.
https://account.ea.com/commerce/product-info.jsp?ipath=15&locale=en_US&sls=2&site=eaco&prodid=BF2-MAP&skin=bf2map&app=commerce
(have to admit it's worth the buy, but it's STILL a mod)
And now they want to bring out 2 new Boosterpacks $9.99 each.
(my wallet has run off underneath my bed, screaming this is 2 much)
Info on boosterpacks

Well im FED up with sponsoring Electronic (banking) Arts!
Do the math
Battlefield 2 $ 44,95
Special Forces $ 29,99
Boosterpack (2times)$ 19,98
____________________________+
grand total of $ 94,92
And that's a lot of money WE pay EA.
(Not all to EA but also to developers)

243. Investigate sinhalese factions and bidunuwewa masacre
December 18, 2005
In a statement on thursday HRW said that the acquittal of all defendants charged of killing 27 Tamil detainees in Bidunuwewan camp in october 2000 "demonstrates the failure of justice system to address crimes againts alleged Tamils tiger members."
On the night of october 25, 2000 an angry sinhalese racist mobs back by JVP, AND Present President Mahinda Rajapaksha stormed the detention centre.
In spite of the presence of armed police, the Sinhalese mobs killed 27 of the inmates, hacking and clubbing them to death.
The attack was internationally condemed. Saying about above incident UN General Secretary Kofi Annan called on Sri lankan government ealier to conduct impartial inquiry into the massacre. But what happend. Government appointed Human right commission white wash the racist sinhales eliments. Then member of the commision Fayes Musthapa, become High commisioner to London.
Sinhalese justice system only protected sinhalese people. Where is the justice for others? Please sing this petition asking international community to conduct the investigation regarding this massacre.

244. Skateboard Park for Iowa Park, Texas
Iowa Park, Texas, is a small little community just outside of Wichita Falls, Tx. There are no activities that teens can do in this community without getting into trouble.
I am a parent of a 13 year old that would love to have a Skateboarding Park put in to keep kids from getting into trouble with the law's/or breaking rules with parents. I agree with her,do to the number of kids that live in this community that are Skateborder's.
I also feel that with haveing more activies that Teens are interested in doing would influence them to get better grades/and Job's as they become adults.
We're not asking alot, we just would like to have a skaterboarding Park put in our town.
245. Clean Up The AA Community!
November 22, 2005
This petition is being presented before you to promote the idea that you and your team should not scrim 7o5. The amount of problems regarding this Invite caliber team are extensive. Furthermore, we feel under no circumstances should you pub with them or ring for them.
Moreover, in light of recent events, delicate actions have to be taken when playing a match against them. Whether or not you play to win against this team is up to you, but we make the assertion that the matches should only be played under duress.
This petition was manifested in an effort to spread the awareness to boycott a team that has become detrimental to the AA community. I will save the specific cases and circumstances, but believe me when I write that it is earnest.
Let's do something good for this community and help clean it up by boycotting a truly sinister organization!

247. Help Somalia
The Right Honourable Paul Martin
Prime Minister of Canada
Dear Prime Minister,
After fourteen years of the absence of all forms of law and order in Somalia, there is a renewed optimism. Somalia and its people now have a government. Yet, without the help of the international community Somalia will remain a failed state.
Canada has demonstrated its commitment to being a world leader in peace keeping, and the fight against poverty, hunger, and disease in the developing world and Africa in particular.
The Somali population in Canada exceeds 100,000 and represents the largest community of African descent within our nation. The Somali-Canadian community believes that Canada should change its "wait and see" policy towards Somalia, and act immediately in supporting the Transitional Federal Government of Somalia (TFG).
I urge you to show bold international leadership by leading the way in supporting the Somali government's efforts to create peace and stability through the rule of law and the establishment of good governance. I believe the Government of Canada should take the following steps in order to facilitate the peace and reconciliation process already begun in Somalia:
Immediate and full diplomatic recognition for the Transitional Federal Government of Somalia;
Appoint a Special Envoy to Somalia;
Support Somalia in its efforts to rebuild by offering the services of experts in federalism and good governance;
Support Somalia in its efforts to reconstruction and institutional development by creating Somalia Reconstruction Trust Fund;
Help in safeguarding the unity, territorial integrity and sovereignty of Somalia;
Help in the creation of a national police force in Somalia using the expertise of the RCMP.
We feel the time has come, under Your Excellency's leadership, to use your good offices and influence in the House of Commons to help the Canadian government understand what is at stake in the Horn of Africa. I appeal to you, to support discussions and actions that will lead to the healing, restoration and reconciliation of Somalia.
Thank you for your favorable consideration,
Yours Sincerely
248. Zoning of the Kanata Woodlands in the Beaverpond Area
We are sending this e-mail and message to you because of your interest in preserving environmental land in the area north of the Beaverpond/Kizzel Drain.
A proposal by the City of Ottawa to amend the City of Ottawa Official Plan and Zoning to allow a subdivision to accommodate some 3,000 homes in an area which has significant environmental value has been appealed to the Ontario Municipal Board (OMB) by a group of Kanata Lakes/Beaverbrook residents as well as the Kanata Beaverbrook Community Association and the Greenspace Alliance of Canada's Capital.
The Ontario Municipal Board (OMB) Hearing of the appeals will be held at the Walter Baker Centre (Kanata Recreation Centre) on Terry Fox Drive (100 Walter Baker Place) and will commence at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, November 7, 2005.
The evening of November 9, 2005 has been set aside to hear the views of the public at large. The Public Meeting is scheduled for Wednesday November 9, 2005 for the Walter Baker Centre commencing at 7:00 p.m. You can attend both the formal sessions during the day and, in particular, the public session which we encourage you to attend and to give your view to the OMB - verbally, in writing, with photographs or a combination.
If the development proceeds as proposed, a significant portion of the community heritage and its forest will be lost along with the attendant recreational and natural environmental amenities.
The OMB gives serious consideration to the views of the public, particularly when there is a strong contingent of the public making representations to the Board on issues being considered.
249. Rename W. Washington Dr. to Willie C. Harris Dr.
This is a petition to rename W Washington Dr. in Cairo, Georgia (The Heights), to Willie C. Harris Dr. in honor of his outstanding accomplishments as a professional baseball player (2005 World Series Champions Chicago White Sox) and as a role model to the community.
250. Save Blast 1386!

This petition is now closed. Thanks to all who signed.
October 8, 2005
Since the merger between TVU and Reading College, the University has offered the students more hardship. Cuts are being made across the whole University, but the plan to close the Radio Station is one cut too far.
The Radio Station is the heart of the student community of TVU Reading and that must be defended no matter what the cost.
We the undersigned are disgusted at the plans to close the Radio Station and demand that the service is handed over to the Students' Union to continue to provide the essential services that the station provides.
Save Douglas Devananda.
The last elected Tamil leader threatened by the LTTE.
This is the initial step of a world wide appeal to the United Nations to save the life of Douglas Devananda - the last remaining Tamil opponent of the LTTE banned by the international community for acts of terrorism.
He is the leader of the Tamil political party in the democratic stream which is seen as a formidable rival of the LTTE who claims to "the sole representative of the Tamils". In the past the LTTE (better known as Tamil Tiger terrorists) have made ten attempts on the life of Douglas Devananda, a member of parliament elected by the Tamil people in his electorate in Jaffna. Though he escaped all attempts he is aware of what the IRA told Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher: "You have to be lucky all the time. We have to be lucky only once".
This appeal is to put pressure on the LTTE to halt its eleventh, or twelfth or any other attempts on the life Douglas Devananda. Like any other human being he has a right to life, free from the threats of LTTE suicide bombers or snipers. The international community was shocked when the LTTE sniper shot dead Lakshman Kadirgamar, the Sri Lankan Foreign Minister, on August 12, 2005. He is the latest in a long list of Tamil leaders eliminated by the LTTE. The history of the LTTE is a record of eliminating all potential rivals to its Supreme, Velupillai Prabhakaran, who is wanted by India for the murder of Rajiv Gandhi, the Prime Minister of India, wanted by the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka for 200 years for the killing of non-combatant civilians when the Central Bank building was blown up in the heart of the Colombo and wanted by Interpol.
With the elimination of Lakshman Kadirgamar, a Tamil lawyer from Oxford University, the LTTE silenced one of its leading opponents. The next in line is Douglas Devananda.
It is also necessary to highlight his plight because the LTTE has never admitted to any of the killings. It always draws a smoke screen denying responsibility and blaming it on others. The organizers of this petition want to put on notice that if something happens to Douglas Devananda it would be only from the action of the LTTE.
In the past, though the LTTE, has denied responsibility, it has left its paw marks through (1) Tiger technology, (2) modus operandi and (3) motives. The Tiger technology is revealed in suicide bombers, (they perfected the art of jackets worn round the body) , long-range snipers, or pistol gangs riding in motor cycles. Their modus operandi is to study, video and map out strategies of the location and go on practice runs before executing with deadly accuracy.
All the Tamil and non-Tamil leaders killed - i.e. from Rajiv Gandhi to Lakshman Kadirgamar -- had posed a serious threat to the LTTE at one time or another. All three factors have combined in the previous ten attacks on Douglas Devananda.
Devananda, who heads the Eelam People's Democratic Party, V. Anandasangaree, head of the Tamil United Liberation Front and Col Karuna, are the three remaining Tamil leaders who are on the hit list of the Tamil Tigers. Of these Anandasangaree is abroad and Col. Karuna is in hiding. The easiest target is Douglas Devananda, senior minister the United Peoples' Freedom Alliance (UPFA) Government led by Sri Lanka President Chandrika Bandaranaike.
Douglas Devananda, an elected Member of Parliament in the Jaffna electoral district, won a seat in the parliament of Sri Lanka at the last parliamentary general elections held on 02 April 2004, despite rampant election fraud, malpractices, threats and intimidation of LTTE, and disproved the LTTE claim that they are the "sole representatives of the Tamils".
Douglas Devananda is the only moderate Tamil political leader, who has been protesting against the LTTE atrocities in Sri Lanka, for the past 15 years continuously. Douglas and his men, based in Sri Lanka, are determined to expose the atrocities of the LTTE to the International Community.
Douglas Devananda MP is today the only surviving Senior Tamil Minister of Agricultural Marketing Development, Co-operative Development, Hindu Affairs and Assisting Education and Vocational Training in the Cabinet of Chandrika Kumaratunga, President of Sri Lanka.
Devananda was born in Jaffna on 10th November 1957. At the age of 13 he joined the Manavar Peravai (Students Federation) and in 1975 he joined the EROS - Eelam Revolutionary Organization of Students. It was then that he assumed the pseudonym of Douglas.
In his youth he was with various Tamil rebel groups. But realizing that the destiny of the Tamil people is by winning rights through non-violent democratic means he turned a new leaf by establishing the Eelam People's Democratic Party (EPDP).
Having entered the democratic mainstream, Douglas worked hard to build his party in the North-East Province of Sri Lanka. His efforts paid dividends when nine members of the EPDP, including himself were elected to Parliament from the Jaffna District, in August 1994. Douglas was reelected to Parliament in October 2000, and again in December 2001.
Douglas Devananda is a self-confident idealist, who is a committed fighter against fascism. He is unassuming, approachable and a believer in humanism. He is determined to serve his people, despite the fact that he has been wounded, scarred and blinded in one eye, and compelled to live a life in the shadow of death. He deserves to lead a normal life without threats to his life. This appeal is to give him that right. Your vote can, hopefully, ensure that right to live in a democratic society without being killed just because he disagrees with those who claim to be "the sole representative" of any community - an unrealistic political proposition except in a fascist regime.
252. Stop the Rodeo in Martin County!
This petition is being started due to the public outcry of inhumane treatment to animals. The following letter aims to stop the rodeo in Martin County.
Robert L. Crowder. Sheriff
Martin County Office of Sheriff
800 SE Monterey Road
Stuart, Florida 34994
September 10, 2005
Dear Sheriff Crowder,
We are the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals of the Treasure Coast. As such, we are dismayed to learn the office of sheriff is sponsoring a harsh, cruel event which inflicts pain on animals. The forthcoming rodeo fund raiser for the Florida Sheriff Youth Ranches is unacceptable and out of character to all the positive things you have done for animals in this community. Our organization is getting complaints about this on a daily basis. It would be an understatement to state that many people are very upset.
Rodeo attractions including tight straps about the abdomen and genitals of horses to make them "buck", the use of electric prods with electric currents to get the horses and cattle running, chasing and roping/tying of cattle and young calves are just a few of the cruel, painful events instilled on these victimized animals.
Encouraging inhumane episodes, especially in full view of children, is contradictory to our mission of kindness and compassion for all creatures. It is especially disturbing since many animal organizations here have worked together with your office to prohibit inhumane acts on animals in Martin County.
Martin County Animal Control Division protects the community against cruelty to animals, while Martin County Sheriff Department promotes it.

253. Zero tolerance fo paeodophiles Australia Wide
This petition is to stop re-offending peodophiles from ever entering the community after being convicted.
The peodophile that molested me did so in 1977, and is currently in prison now for molesting a child recently. He is due out in 2011. He must not be allowed back into the community, and neither should any of the others.
My situation proves that the laws in place have not been protecting the children of our country. It is time. Stand up and be counted survivors.
254. Oust PAPD Officers Michael Kan and Craig Lee
On July 13, 2003, at 10:34 p.m., Palo
Alto Police Department (PAPD) rookie
Craig Lee drove his police car up to
59-year-old Albert Hopkins, who was
sitting in his parked car on Oxford
Avenue near the intersection of the El
Camino Real in Palo Alto. Lee asked
Mr. Hopkins for identification. Mr.
Hopkins did not initially give his
name, but later confirmed his identity
and his Palo Alto address.
When PAPD rookie Michael Kan stopped
his police car nearby, Lee spoke to
Kan. Kan walked over and ordered Mr.
Hopkins out of his car, and tried to
pull him out. Kan and Lee repeatedly
hit Mr. Hopkins with their batons,
while Mr. Hopkins tried to ward off
blows. Kan and Lee also doused him
extensively with pepper spray. Mr.
Hopkins was overcome, temporarily
blinded, handcuffed, and transported
to the hospital where he was treated
for body injuries, and a swelling near
his eye.
PAPD launched an immediate
investigation, which culminated in Kan
and Lee being charged with felony
assault and misdemeanor battery by a
Peace Officer. During the criminal
trial, all of the senior officers
that arrived on the scene that night
testified that they were concerned
that Kan and Lee could not provide a
reason for arresting Mr. Hopkins, and
so there seemed to be no justification
for use of force.
Presented with a strong case against
the two rookies, 8 jurors were certain
Kan and Lee were guilty: a 2-1 margin
favoring conviction. Despite all this,
Kan and Lee are being returned to
their jobs (after a plea deal let them
off with a mere $250 fine), and we are
told: "it's time to put it to rest and
move on".
We say there can be no rest until our
leaders realize it's time for Kan and
Lee to move on.
This petition arises not from malice
but the desire to safeguard the
community, as we strongly believe:
1. They are not fit for the job. As a
result of their beating of Albert
Hopkins on July 13 2003, and despite
the shocking deal that drastically
reduced the charges, the fact remains
that Officers Kan and Lee each pleaded
'no contest' to a criminal charge of
an act of illegal public violence
while on duty.
Yet, we have not seen Officers Kan and
Lee publicly take responsibility for
their misconduct. Instead, their court
testimony blamed the victim of their
criminal violence - who was not
arrested for any crime - while
belittling the response of their
supervisors that night. Does this
behavior reflect the discipline and
respect for the law that is
fundamentally required of law
enforcement officers? Or does it
indicate a profound employment
mismatch - that cannot be overcome
with any amount of retraining?
2. They cannot serve the interests of
the Palo Alto community. As reflected
in our budget, the safety of the
community is Palo Alto's highest
priority. As the locus of Silicon
Valley and home of Stanford
University, Palo Alto's community
includes guests welcomed from around
the world, that expect and are
entitled to the universal human right
and Constitutional protection) of
freedom from arbitrary arrest or
detention and unreasonable use of
force.
Given its profound authority, our
police force must not include those
who trample the rights of those they
serve, while rejecting the good
judgment of those they serve under.
3. Continuing their employment poses
unacceptable risks. Studies on police
misconduct, such as the Christopher
Commission report (an examination of
LAPD four months after the King
beating), have found that the heart of
the problem is failure to act upon the
few officers using excessive force.
Those officers frequently then go on
to become repeat offenders, who are
responsible for many of the cases that
cost the city in civil suits.
Palo Alto has already paid a $250,000
settlement for Kan and Lee's use of
force. How much would a jury penalize
the city in the next claim that may
result from their use of force, given
that the city was aware of the risk
and chose to ignore it? With budget
revenue rapidly shrinking, how are
such expenses justified?
Therefore, we call on the City Manager
to immediately take this step toward
freeing Palo Alto from the risks and
stigma of brutal injustice that we
believe Officers Kan and Lee's tenure
here has brought us, and begin
restoring Palo Alto as a community
united in its concern for public
safety and human rights.
255. Redevelopment of Littlefield Playfield
Please sign this petition to request the City of Detoit Department of Recreation to redevelop Littlefield Playfield into a useful, productive park for the surrounding community to enjoy; which will enhance the value of our neighborhood and provide and safe and clean environment for children.
256. Community Bed and Breakfast Nursing Facility
Bed and Breakfast Style Nursing facilities are residential structures constructed consistant with local architecture that provide nursing care to a maximum of 20 ambulatory individuls.
When combined with home care, senior social daycare, senior medical daycare services and a medical staffing agency reduces state funding by 50% and creates a model for the nation for community nursing facilities.
257. Keep Little Acorn Pre School Open
I would like to start this petition in order to show the Pastor and the Board of this church that this community needs this school and wants this school to stay open for the sake of our children and their education.
For this is the most critical time in development for these youngsters and to throw off all they have learned and have become accustomed to would be disheartening.
258. Reverse BOD (Decision On Scooters)
Recently a rule was created by our BOD represenatives to ban the use of scooters on the private roads of the "Landings of Bell Lake" due to saftey and liability ramifications that are placed on the scooter operator and other members of the community.
In my opinion this rule was decided by select minority representation of the community, therefore I'm petitioning the BOD (Board Of Directors) to bring this ruling before the community as a vote, so that the majority of the community can be heard on their interpretation of the HOA declarations of covenants.
I personally attended the HOA meeting held on July 16th, 2005 and listened to the board members explain their reasoning for banning the scooters, however their argument had no basis, considering the fact that when they were asked about other issues such as fireworks.
This petition is made to address the fact that in our community there are no places for children to go after school, on the weekends, or just somewhere to hang out other than the street corners. There are no YMCAs or public playgrounds nearby for the child residing in this community to go.
The people of this community have the right to have a safe haven for its youth where they can learn, have fun and not have to be exposed to the things that are plaguing our young ones.
260. REMOVE PROJECT REACH YOUTH (PRY)
June 30, 2005
Since 1998, Project Reach Youh has been mandated by DYCD to service the Fort Greene community.
They have continued to offer little or no relevant programming, terminate quality staff members who have voiced opinions, offer no corective action to the community, and continues to violate the right of full disclosure while hiding behind privacy and confidentiality.
261. Sullivan County Living Wage
A coalition of local groups, led by Sullivan Peace and Justice, is seeking the enactment of Living Wage legislation in Sullivan County, NY.
This petition is the first step of a campaign to accomplish this -- a petition that calls upon the county legislature to draft a resolution for subsequent enactment.
262. Anti-Social Behaviour of Elderly in Dublin
This Petition is being brought forward because of Anti-Social Behaviour of some elderly people living in "Old Folks" Flats in our community. Some of us have lived here for over 20 years with no problems. Last year, a new tenant was moved into the "flats" and since then there has been verbal abuse and pictures being taken of children playing outside their homes, threatening gestures with a cane, verbal abuse to anyone with a dog, and property damage to a vehicle.
Another tenant was moved in recently and same anti-social behaviour is taken place, including threatening a dog with an axe in the prescence of children. There is also a "nun" who routinely calls the "guards" (police)if she hears children playing outside.
Now the reason these flats were built within a community is so the elderly can feel like they are in a community with families, and they are not sent to nursing homes to feel instituionalized or forgotten. These people forget that if children are outside playing, then the likelihood of them being robbed (which has happened on more than one occassion when there were no children or a dog outside)is decreased.
It seems that these elderly people who have a problem with children, people and animals should be institutionalized because they are a threat to themselves as well as the community.
263. Ask the US Congress to invite Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to address a Joint Session of Congress
UPDATE JUNE 27, 2005
USINPAC thanks everyone who signed this petition and supported this petition drive.
House Speaker Dennis Hastert (R-Ill) confirmed today that Prime Minister of India Dr. Manmohan Singh will address a Joint Session of Congress on July 19, 2005 at 10:00 AM when he pays a state visit to the United States. Dr. Singh is the first Prime Minister of India on a state visit post 9/11. This makes this visit a very special occasion and is of great significance to the growing strategic relations between India and the United States.
House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-TX) in a discussion with USINPAC mentioned that he is excited and delighted that Prime Minister Singh is paying a state visit to the Capital and looks forward to welcoming him.
US India Political Action Committee (USINPAC) is delighted that the Joint Session of Congress for Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is now confirmed.
Thank You
June 27, 2005
.......................................................................
Fellow Indian Americans, we must come together as a 2 million strong community in the United States and urge the US Congress to invite Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to address a Joint Session of Congress during his visit to Washington in July.
THE ISSUE
Dr. Manmohan Singh is the first Indian Prime Minister to visit Washington after September 11, 2001. This will also be Dr. Singh's first official visit to Washington as Prime Minister of India.
Dr. Singh represents a nation that is the world's largest democracy, has the second largest population in the world, has the second fastest growing economy in the world, and has the fourth largest purchasing-power parity in the world. Furthermore, India and the US have shared values of Democracy and rule of law .
Our grassroots message, therefore, to the US Congress is that India is no longer just a regional power, but indeed is ready to be, as President Bush has recently suggested, a global partner of the United States.
WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?
The most recent world leaders who addressed a Joint Session of Congress have been Mexican President Vicente Fox, British Prime Minister Tony Blair, Spanish President José Maria Áznar, Afghan President Hamid Karzai, Interim Iraqi Prime Minister Ayyad Allawi, and Ukrainian President Viktor Yuschenko.
The Indian American community must come together as an active and united voice to urge the US Congress to invite Prime Minister Singh in this prestigious list of strong allies of the United States who have had the privilege of addressing a Joint Session of Congress.
THE SOLUTION
Support USINPAC - devoted to defending the interests of the Indian American community. USINPAC will be submitting this petition with your signature to the Congressional Leadership in the Senate and the House. So make your voice heard and sign the petition! ACT NOW to extend your valuable support to USINPAC and contribute. Any contribution from you would enormously strengthen our efforts.
264. No to ALCOHOL sales on our sidewalks
The citizens for community vales wants to take a stand for our community. We do not want our community to be an advertisment for drinking alcohol and/or drinking alcohol and driving.
This sends a negitive message to our youth.
265. Save Monash Primary School
Monash Primary School is a small state school located adjacent to Monash University on Samada street in Notting Hill, Melbourne. It has a warm atmosphere and country feel.
In May 2005 Monash Primary School consulted with parents on a decision to close the school due to low enrolments. There has been no community consultation or information sharing! Closing the school will affect the future of the local children, the character of the suburb, the residents that use its open space and their land values if there is a shift in demographics.
The decision as to whether or not to close Monash Primary should not solely be in the hands of the school's council. A petition has been generated to draw the attention of the Education Department to the lack of consultation from the community.
266. Petition To Renovate For A Safer Living Environment
This petition is created upon request by tenants residing at Willowick Gardens. This petition is also to be used as formal notification by tenants for the sole purpose and intent of informing said Organization of usafe and unsatisfactory living conditions.
Due to uncontrollable weather conditions, our Apartment Complex has been left in a state of needed repair. Below is a list of said repairs that must be addressed immediately.
1.) Parking lot on East side of complex is damaged beyond repair and temporarily closed to traffic until further notice.
2.) Drainage system does not work well enough to prevent damages from small amounts of rain. We have had several displaced tenants due to flood and water damage.
3.) Apartments that have flooded and been vacated are left open and unattended, allowing children access to unsafe materials and properties.
4.) Maintanence work orders are going unfilled due to lack of hired help.
5.) The childrens play area, recently removed due to severe injury, is no longer available for children of tenants to play on.
6.) As promised by Online website located at:http://www.apartments.com, the fitness rooms are in need of repair and contain only one working device in each room.
7.) As promised by website, Saunas are available, however have not been repaired and are unusable by tenants.

267. Save the Milton School Building
This petition has been written in an effort to convince the Milton City Council that their poor decision not to accept the offer from the Van Buren School Board (to acquire the school building & sell it to an individual)has an adverse affect on the community, alumni and City of Milton.
The Building is in very good condition and will cost an exorbitant amount to tear down and haul away. Concerned citizens and alumni have shown overwhelming suport in keeping the building for use as a meeting place, community center and place of business which would better the community and also attract tourism, etc.

268. Say Yes to Taiwan's Bid to WHO
Updated March 22, 2007
Taiwan has been excluded from the United Nations and its related organizations since 1971.
Since then Taiwan has neither been privy to the health related work of the World Health Organization (WHO) especially regarding the spread of infectious diseases. With the recent warning of many countries on the possibility that avian influenza could evolve into a pathogen deadly to humans, we face the threat of a worldwide epidemic.
The goal of the World Health Organization is the "attainment by all peoples of the highest possible level of health." Taiwan's exclusion from the WHO is basically contradictory with this objective. It places the health of not only the Taiwanese but also the entire global community at risk. Taiwan qualifies as an independent and sovereign state with a defined territory, a permanent population, an effective government, and a capacity to enter into relations with other states.
Despite exclusion from the WHO, Taiwan actively cooperates on numerous international health projects and provides much humanitarian assistance as part of its responsibility to the international community. The latest example, Taiwan International Health Action (Taiwan IHA), established in February 2006, aims to integrate Taiwan's human and material resources into an international medical and health affairs network. These efforts have been highly recognized and praised internationally.
This prohibition can be rectified by allowing Taiwan to participate when the World Health Assembly (WHA), the WHO's decision-making body, meets in Geneva in May 2007.
269. Anastacia For Russia
Anastacia fans,
We are from Only-Anastacia.ru and we're trying to bring Anastacia in Russia. She never came here. She was very close to our country touring around Europe with her Tour "Live At Last" in 2004-2005 performing in the Eastern Europe and Scandinavia. We are wondering why she hasn't yet been to Russia, this huge territory for any successful artist?!?!?!
Now The Encore Tour is announced to follow the very successful Live At Last tour. The tour schedule is still not finalized so we might have a really good chance to get Ana to Russia some time in july or august.
Is there any chance for Russian fans to see their idol live? She's known in Russia since her huge single I'm Outta Love, she got numerous fan community - we think even bigger than the ones in Hungary, Slovenia and some other countries that Anastacia visited during her tours. We can say even more: her album «Anastacia« reached top 5 of many Russain selling charts.
Now please sign this petition so we can send it. Cast your vote here. It's just a matter of click.
Thanks and lots of love,
Russain Fans Community
