The Government opened family courts up to greater media scrutiny, in response to criticism that the current set up is overly secretive in April 2009. This was approved by Parliament. Journalists are able to attend family court hearings in county courts and the High Court from 27 April 2009.

‎"The provisions in the Children, Schools and Families Act have been universally condemned and should be abolished, the Justice Select Committee says. Instead, ministers should redraft proposals to increase transparency in the family courts, putting the views of children centre stage."

The subject of newspaper reporting of cases heard in the high court namely to do with private and public law. The Children Act 2004 para 251. Section 62(1) amends section 97 of the Children Act 1989 to make clear that the publication of material from family proceedings which is intended, or likely, to identify any child as being involved in such proceedings (or the address or school of such a child) is only prohibited in relation to publication of information to the public or any section of the public. In effect, this means that passing on information identifying, or likely to identify, a child (his school or his address) as being involved in court proceedings to an individual.

The Court of Appeal has decided that the prohibition from identifying children which section 97 of the Children Act 1989 provides only applies whilst the proceedings relating to the child in question are in progress. Once the proceedings have concluded, the protection given by the Act comes to an end, the entitlement to anonymity thereafter being dependent upon an exercise in balancing the Convention rights of those involved. http://www.judiciary.gov.uk/media/media-releases/2006/news-release-1806

Although statistics are published about cases that pass through the courts, these in their nature cannot answer claims that abuses of the system are not identified and that there are effectively no quality controls.

My Daughter has one kidney, which was damaged when she was born. Her medical records reveal that it was I who nurtured her to recovery. The Doctor sang my praises. Trauma promotes ill health in later life. Furthermore I had eight miscarriages, before little one was born. I was beaten up by the police so they could take her and the one social worker who was in attendance stood there and watched, as my daughter looked on from the middle of the room as we fought rolling around on my settee. There were a number of police officers present.

UK FAMILY COURT JUDGES VIOLATE AND DENY HUMAN RIGHTS OF CHILDREN - There is a clear need to increase transparency in the family courts, putting the views of children centre stage. Once a child is proven to be 'Gillick' competent the child must be allowed to attend Court to give their views to a Judge. Guardians ad litem should not in any circumstance give evidence on behalf of a child that will decide the fate of the child. The Court have a duty to prevent hearsay evidence. It is imperative that Parliament quash the power of Guardians ad litem decision to admit the hearsay of a child as evidence in Private and Public family law matters. The more serious the allegation, the greater the importance of ensuring that the accused parent(s) is afforded fair and proper procedural safeguards in civil and criminal matters. There is no public interest in a wrong result. This must include 'Private and Public' Law cases.

That it is fair to admit the hearsay evidence of a child and a Judge's decision to admit it is irrational and constituted a breach of the claimant's Article 6(1) right to a fair hearing and cannot stand.

Qualitative methods produce information only on the particular cases studied, and any more general conclusions are only hypotheses. Quantitative methods can be used to verify, which of such hypotheses are true. This is what this petition is about.

The relentless and excessive promotion of live odds/betting on the scoreboards screens at both the MCG and Etihad stadium needs to be stopped.

Exposure to gambling advertisements from a young age can normalise gambling for children. A number of studies, including one by Adelaide University’s Associate Professor Paul Delfabbro, show that this exposure can lead to a greater risk of children developing gambling problems as they grow older.

The AFL have publically stated that they are concerned about this issue but have done nothing as they are not responsible for this promotion. Both venues - the MCC and Etihad state that it is the AFL that is responsible. The Federal Government in the Senate is currently holding an enquiry called the Joint Select Committee on Gambling reform.

This reform is moving too slowly. Community action is needed. I urge you to support this issue by signing up.

Sophia means "wisdom". I was born here and I live here. I love my city.

Over 25 years there has been a problem with street dogs.

A shelter or two existed for a while indeed but, a film made in secret by some Britons showed the world how they used to kill dogs in one of these "shelters". This is not a decision!

There are many cases when street dogs attack people and even children. Not to mention dogs as s source of infection.

I don't know who benefits of keeping this situation as it is.

I hope a letter from foreigners to the Minister of Environment and Waters and to the Mayor of the city could make a difference.

There are stark few resources for young people, but The County Town of Wiltshire has failed its young people for many years. Even now, in these challenging financial times failing young people is a big mistake.

Under current adoption law in Michigan, only married couples or single individuals are permitted to adopt. This policy makes obtaining a joint legal partnership nearly impossible for two unmarried individuals wishing to adopt a child together.

With thousands of children waiting to be adopted from the foster care system each year, the State of Michigan cannot afford to exclude any population from its adoption discussions; however, it continues to do so by prohibiting non-married individuals from legally co-parenting and permitting only one parent in a same sex couple to legally adopt a child.

If passed, the Second Parent Adoption Bill, Michigan House Bill 4249,would allow two unmarried persons to petition to adopt a child.

All children in Michigan deserve the stability of a permanent home and the security of a legal relationship with two parents.

Westminster Pre-school Learning Alliance is made up of nine (9) community nurseries and has been receiving a grant to enable affordable nurseries in the area. Westminster Council has cut approximately £45,000 in funding to each nursery by taking away this grant. The nine nurseries affected are: Parkview Lodge Pre-School (Westbourne Area), Moorhouse Pre-School (Westbourne Area), The Vestry (Abbey Rd/Maida Vale Area), St. James Community Pre-School (Bayswater Area), Ashmore Pre-School (Queen’s Park Area), Fisherton Street Pre-School (Church Street Area), Independent Mother's Pre-school, (Church Street Area), Barrow Hill (St. John’s Wood Area), Elgin Pre-School (Harrow Road Area).

Not only have the cuts been made, but additional expenses formerly covered by the grant such as cleaning, accounting, and rent now are each nurseries’ responsibility. These cuts and additional expenses pressure these nurseries to drastically increase fees in order to survive. These nurseries are in jeopardy of closing.

Withdrawal of the nurseries means:

- Extra strain for parents who are already under a lot of pressure balancing finances, work and family;

- Discouragement for parents to access jobs/education due to limited children facilities;

- Loss of jobs and no redundancy packages to dedicated members of staff who have been working for the nurseries for as long as 20 years.

I walked into Spencer's Gifts in our local mall with my 8 year old daughter to buy a tuxedo t-shirt, knowing they are a gag gift type store. Outside their doorway was a large gum ball machine, and in the entry were many funny hats that resembled Sesame Street characters... it looked like a toy store.

As we entered I asked the clerk where I might find the t-shirt. He pointed to the second aisle in the store. I quickly noticed the first aisle contained all kinds of sex books with explicit pictures on them demonstrating sexual positions with very risqué titles, such as, "Over 100 Sizzling Sex Positions," "Kinky Vows," etc., well, you get the idea. The aisle we needed had boxes of blow up dolls, one entitled, "The Midget Love Doll," "Famous Fanny Love Doll," etc. displaying very descriptive pictures along with vibrators, cock rings, all kinds of sexual paraphernalia! (I know the titles because I later took pictures). The packaging was so bright, it couldn't be missed, and I watched my daughter's eyes practically pop out of her head! I was stunned, and promptly took her out of the store.

I went back later and saw aisles of sexual paraphernalia no one would want their children to be able to see, hold, or buy! Once, home I googled 'Why can Spencer's Gifts sell adult sex toys?' Check it out for yourself. Should our children be able to view such item in our local Malls where parents allow their children to roam? Please help save the children of Chico!

We urge restaurants, cafes and food serving public houses to promote healthy children’s’ options, the choice to order smaller portions from the existing menu and to emphasis a commitment to seasonal and local produce, though implementation of the Available in Kid Size Stratagem.

The ABC became the leader in children's television in the 1990s. Many shows were both fun and educational and provided an escape for children. Many people want to see a channel dedicated to the ABC kids shows which flooded our screens in the 1990s.

This channel would not just be beneficial and loved by children from the 1990s, but also shared by a new generation of children, with the same wonder we all had while watching these shows. Our great following is reflected by the massive interest we have had in online forums.

The Children, Youth and Women's Health Services (CYWHS) Parent Helpline provides telephone information and support at any time 7 days a week.

Previously the service was run 24 hours/7 days week , however since the beginning of May the hours of service were cut back significantly. Calls received between 9.15pm and 7.15am are automatically redirected to the Health Direct call centre, a national telephone advice hotline setup by the Federal government to treat enquiries of a 'medical' nature.

Some examples of the information available from the CYH Parent Helpline include:

HEALTH: Teething, bedwetting, gastro and fevers.
BEHAVIOUR: Unsettled babies, sleep, problem solving, toilet training.
NUTRITION: Feeding babies, fussy eaters, general nutrition information.
PARENTING: Grief and separation, resources for counselling, stepfamilies, child protection issues.
PARENTS: Postnatal depression, pregnancy, mastitis, coping with parenting, support.

A significant proportion of calls, especially throughout the overnight shift, are from parents who are not always seeking medical advice, rather seeking 'general' parenting advice on settling, breastfeeding, behavioural and other 'non-medical parenting issues'. The support to these parents at these times is critical and many parents hang up from the Health Direct hotline frustrated that the staff were not able to deal with their issues.

Given the service has been cut back overnight, when callers are generally not able to seek access to family/friends, visit their doctor for advice or seek out alternative avenues, parents are left in a difficult and somewhat dangerous predicament should their query not be of a medical nature and Health Direct are not able to attend and resolve their issue.

The CYH Parents Helpline received over 95,000 calls last year, with many first time parents finding the support offered by their trained staff CRITICAL to the wellbeing of both parents and their children. Health Direct staff, whilst medically qualified, cannot confidently answer the typical questions the Parent's Helpline receives and callers are often referred to their GP the following day, leaving parents no better off for their efforts or without any way forward for resolving their current dilemma.

Skylar Kauffman was killed and her body was later found in a dumpster.

A 24-year-old neighbor, James Lee Troutman, was charged with murder, kidnapping, and rape. Troutman later admitted to authorities that he strangled the girl with his hands, according to the criminal complaint. Investigators said Troutman told them, "it was like whiteout" and that he "snapped."

There was an incident 3 weeks before where the same man locked girls in the bathroom, but they escaped. Skylar's mom called police, they showed up and said that the girls twisted their story. The did nothing.

This petition is to pass a bill for police to have to act faster in situations involving children.

Fathers and Mothers who have been convicted of child cruelty to their children still have contact in a contact centres or have another member of their family supervise the visit in their own home. This has to stop now.

If they abuse the children in a contact centre or whilst supported or supervised the courts still give them access! The contact centres say they did not see anything as they are busy watching up to 10 children coupled with 10 fathers or mothers, if one needs the toilet that is makes up to 38 people to be watched during that time, this is when the parent strikes out at the kids, whisper in their ears and the abuse starts all over again. Nobody but nobody is doing anything to stop this.

It is unbelievable that this country would send a victim to the offender week after week to be abused. The courts don’t hear the children telling them of horrendous things of bruises on their little bodies or see tiny children aged 2 And 3 lift their tops to show bruises.

Please help me to change the law. No contact of any description for any parent convicted of any violent or sexual offence to their children until the child is 18 years of age. Sign my petition for our kid’s sake!

My sister, a loving and devoted mother, lost custody of her children last Monday due to the fact that she has cancer. The North Carolina Judge stated that she was uncomfortable not knowing how long Alaina had to live. So she must give up FULL CUSTODY to their father.

The children are Sofia, age 11 and Bud, age 5. Please help us to get this story out so my sister has a chance to overturn this ruling and keep her children. Please hear our voice! She should only be fighting cancer, not to have to keep her children.

Dear Friends,

Over the last few years, we’ve experienced many changes in our children's education. Now, we're starting to understand the consequences and its effects to our Island children. The consequences include but are not limited to:

* Island children having the lowest academic scores in Canada.
* An on-going battle with kindergarten children on buses with older aged children;
* An increasing number of children on buses for longer periods of time;
* Classroom over crowding;
* School closures due to poorly maintained buildings;
* Exorbitant amounts of money being spent to maintain old schools and build new ones without studies or planning;
* The demise of an elected board; and
* Schools closures.

I ask you: can it get any worse?

Well, I fear it's about to. Island children have only ONE voice, a provincially- appointed official who is a representative of the voices that have caused the deterioration of our education system.

We need to work together. We have to call on our elected officials to change legislation right away. The Eastern School District (ESD) needs to have an elected board put in place as soon as possible.

Please join me and other community members and parents by signing this petition. We will present this petition to the Ghiz Government and Minister Currie.

The UCR Child Development Center released a letter to families participating in the subsidized child care program in mid April 2011. The program has provided more than a 70% reduction to low income families to allow their children the opportunity to a quality education in a safe and nurturing environment – an opportunity that most of the families would not have otherwise had.

The letter stated the subsidized program will no longer be offered to faculty and staff families (student staff will remain on the program) effective June 2011 giving the families less than two months to come up with an alternative plan for their children.

If action is not taken these families will not have the quality child care needed to continue to nourish their children’s education and social skills.

Human Trafficking is a very profitable industry for those involved. But the people being trafficked are often stripped of their rights and freedoms and become 2nd class citizens to their captors. Human trafficking is the fastest growing criminal industry in the world.

Revenue from trafficked persons is estimated to be between 5 to 9 billion US dollars per year. In Canada, the RCMP estimate that 600-800 people are trafficked into Canada annually and that an additional 1,500 to 2,200 people are trafficked through Canada into the United States.

Many of the people being trafficked are either women or children, that are then funneled into other industries such as free labour market and prostitution.

If we can get enough people to sign this we can get this topic raised during parliament. This is all about raising awareness and getting the Canadian Government to do more for this pressing issue.

we believe all children entering care for what ever reason should have access to crisis care packages which contain basics for the child in the initial 24-72 Hours.

Foster carers often tell us they receive kids at short notice or late at night when shopping is not possible, also was a child in care and know first hand how little these kids have and how much red tape must be overcome to simply access funds to purchase such items for the child.

We are happy to provide these packs free to the children , But NSW DOCS have said they are un needed as they provide everything they refereed to another organisation they fund, however the child must join this org, must pay a fee and it can take months to access it does not meet their needs during crisis.

Over 19,000 layoff notices were given to teachers throughout the state of California, a state that has seen periods of crisis similar to such before. An Educational cut of this magnitude will effect classrooms throughout the state substantially.

"These current cuts are sure to push us further down the scale. Our future depends on our ability to prepare the next generation for success in the hyper-competitive global economy. This is a continuation of our petition submitted to Brighton and Hove City Council at their Full Council meeting on 24 March 2011 - total signatures at that point were 835.

This petition is part and parcel of a campaign to persuade the council that there are compelling and justifiable grounds on which to carry out a complete review of the road layout and management in and around the Hollingdean Dip.

Anecdotal evidence shows that there have been many near misses over a number of years as vehicles race through the Dip without regard for the safety of pedestrians many of whom are school children walking to Hertford Infants School.

The residents on this campaign are of the view (clearly expressed at Full Council) that a holistic approach is essential so that current problems relating to speeding, parking on corners and double yellow lines and a dangerous bus stop configuration are dealt with and that, most essentially, priority is given to pedestrians over vehicles.

While this action’s intent may be to deter criminals or criminal activity, the effect, in results, brings distrust, resentment, and self-esteem issues. The United States cannot afford a deepening quagmire in Libya. We call on President Obama to seek authorization from the U.S. Congress for his Libyan bombing campaign, including a mission statement limited to protecting Libyan civilians, a viable diplomatic strategy, an exact cost projection, and a timeline for the rapid withdrawal of all U.S. combat troops before the war becomes another quagmire.

My son is 9 and from the start of school there was no place
for him to "fit in" He has Aspergers, ADHD, Reactive
Attachment disorder, speech and language issues and
profound sensory processing issues. He however does not
have an intellectual disability so he is not eligible for Special
school.

He is a gorgeous boy, with so much potential to learn in
the right environment. The QLD school system has let him
down so badly he is now attending a private school, paid for
by his family and by donations, who needs the funding he
receives from main stream school (even though he only
attends there 4 hours a week, with me present) to be used
for a Teachers aide for him at his new school, where he
feels safe and is completing school work and attending
occupational therapy and speech therapy as well. My son
is extremely high needs and needs one on one, which this
school is unable to provide, BUT can provide the security
and safe environment for him to learn grow and prosper.

The town of Torbay is a beautiful place to live and raise a family. One major turn off from this town is the speed in which the traffic travels and there are congested intersections that are extremely difficult to get out of in a timely manner.

The intersection of Torbay Road, Marine Drive and Convent Lane being one of them. During times of high traffic it can be very hard to exit in either direction to make a left hand turn onto Torbay road from Marine Drive or Convent Lane due to the fact that you can not see very far in either direction. You have a blind hill on one side and a blind turn on the other side.

In my opinion this is quite hazardous. Not to mention that there is not one but two schools less than a half of a kilometre from this intersection and the school buses drivers use this to exit onto the main drag to return their precious passengers home at he end of the school day. The speed of the traffic and inability to see the vehicles coming is dangerous for those children who are walking home and need to cross Torbay Road. Although there is a flashing yellow light, it isn't enough.

So before something tragic happens, I am suggesting that a four-way traffic light be placed at the intersection of Torbay Road, Marine Drive and Convent Lane.

I am creating this group in the hope that i can stop a very sad but very common situation occurring in many neonatal intensive care and pedeatric intensive care units across the country! The NHS unfortunately as we all know is a very sad state of affairs and budgeting is inevitably happening throughout but many doctors are now making life saving decisions based on the cost to the nhs rather than what they are there to do and that is if possible SAVE A LIFE!

Every parent that has ever had a very poorly child in an intensive care unit is most likely very aware of and possibly experienced themselves the heartbreaking reason i am creating this group and that is the negligent care given to my son during his 4 month stay on these such units due to lack of beds, budgeting and future cost to the NHS, resulting in us losing our little angel.

Before i tell you my storey i must state that this group is being created in regards to cost cutting in areas where it is desperately needed, And the treatment received once a doctor feels that there is no point in saving your child based on a DISABILITY! I am in no way slating intensive care and paediatric care units as a whole in fact these units do save lives and are a pure godsend to thousands of babies, children and their family's on a daily basis!

One of the main areas of concern is for that of premature baby's, a huge debate is under-way in the country on a regular basis as to weather a child should be saved as early as 23 weeks, but it seems that other areas around this topic are not being accessed like ways to prevent and detect early labour, ways to ensure adequate numbers of nurses on the wards and the main issue BEDs or COTs and the extreme lack of them resulting in hundreds of very sick babies being transported by ambulance to other hospital's when they are really not fit to travel! The majority of people see doctor's as people that you can trust and you trust a doctor with your child's life and in the majority of cases this is the case and thank god for these people but there are circumstances from within the NHS when parent's have found themselves pushed into a corner, bullied and untrusting in the doctor caring for there child due to the circumstances surrounding them and this is a very scary situation as when the only person that can save your child does not want your child to survive what do you do?

Although it is illegal for a doctor to remove care from a child without legal permission or a parent's permission unfortunately it does still happen and there is nothing you can do absolutely NOTHING as when a team of doctor's make a decision however against it you the parent's and the nurses caring for your child are, illegal actions can be taken and as long as this is covered in medical notes you have no way of proving it and living knowing that a group of doctor's are allowed to continue practising medicine after what they put your child through is a very hard thing to live with I live in hope that the government can stop sick children being shipped from hospital to hospital when they are to ill to be moved, for the government to provide better help and finances to the future of this World CHILDREN!

And for us the parent's to have more right as although legally we do, this unfortunately did not stop the doctor's in my case from a lot of deception and lies. So i am calling for all parents to have immediate access on a daily basis to their child's medical notes while in hospital and the right to have an advocate record all meetings when requested so no more deception can take place! Unfortunately i was refused this many many a time!

America is the only country in the world who freely, and profusely, uses God's and Jesus Christ's name in vain in their cinematic entertainment. It's something that seems to have started in the 1950's.

There is so much "damning" and profanity used in God's name, in American cinematic entertainment, I find it completely unbearable. And the profuse use of the "F" word is also extremely abusive and offensive. What happened to the intelligent and humorous dialogue that used to characterize American films from the onset of "talking pictures"? It's been sadly replaced with all kinds of profanity that has continued to escalate to present day American entertainment.

It is a vulgar representation of America and the American people. It has gone way over the line from decency to nothing more than a continuous display of offensive vulgarities.
