1. Sir Ian Wood: Send your £50 Million to Africa As Promised!
Billionaire Sir Ian Wood wanted to build a giant granite web over Aberdeen's only green city centre, free access park. This was meant to magically enhance the city centre - but the City had to borrow £92,000,000 - money it can ill afford to gamble on a speculative real estate deal. Such schemes are causing economic havoc in Spain and in the US. The city's new administration is Labour-led. Labour's election pledge was to stop this scheme, which it did. Labour pointed out that a recent referendum was a non-binding consultation exercise - one in which a handful of business people (who are keeping their identities secret) spent far more on an advertising blitz than official campaigners were allowed to. Material produced by this group contained claims which have little sound basis, yet no regulatory body was able to intervene in this referendum's advertising.
The scheme to build a granite web for £140 million has already eaten through a large quantity of taxpayer money committed by a quango (ACSEF), billed to the taxpayer by the Chamber of Commerce. Audit Scotland and other regulatory bodies have been asked to investigate the scheme's genesis and operation. (details can be found on www.aberdeenvoice.com).
Sir Ian claimed in February he would instead spend his money on charitable works in Africa if we turned him down. This idea is now subject of a U-turn. Please ask him nicely to help Africa and not give Aberdeen any ultimatums.
2. Save St. Luke's Book Shop!!
St. Luke's Book Shop has existed in Hyde Park Road for over 2 years now. It has provided invaluable support and encouragement to the education of children not only in Hyde Park Junior and Infant Schools across the road, but in secondary schools around the city.
With extremely good value products, this shop has enabled families from a wide range of incomes to share in the delight of books.
3. Michelle Obama Please Visit Black Jack, MO! Support Build A Body Kid's Fitness
Each fall, Christian Embassy Church (CEC) in Black Jack, Missouri hosts an annual community fundraiser for a nationally recognized charity organization suitably named Harvest Fest. In years past, CEC has raised funds for United Service Organizations (USO), American Heart Association and American Diabetes Association just to name a few.
The monies raised total into the thousands. This year's charity recipient is a local non-profit organization, Buid A Body Kid's Fitness, Inc.. As many people know, the child obesity epidemic in America is at an increasingly staggering level and its correction is a major focus of our First Lady, Michelle Obama.
In an effort to attract Mrs. Obama's recognition of our support towards the elimination of this nationwide problem and to invite her to Harvest Fest, we are asking for your signature which will be sent to The White House for review.
4. Nursing Shortage Campaign & Petition
The results of a nursing survey released on the 23rd September 2011 revealed that 75% of nurses fear for their patients' safety because of poor staffing levels.
The Royal College of Nursing (RCN) estimates that 40,000 posts across Britain will be axed within three years as trusts are forced to slash budgets under NHS plans to save £20 billion. Of the 600 nurses questioned for the survey, 25% said their biggest safety concern was identifying deteriorating patients, followed by drug errors, slips, trips and falls and insufficient nutrition and hydration. Four per cent worried about patients receiving the wrong treatment through misidentification. All levels of the profession were questioned for the survey published by Nursing Times magazine.
RCN chief executive and general secretary Dr Peter Carter said: "It is critical to patient safety that changes to staffing levels and skill mix are made in line with patient need rather than as a knee-jerk response to financial pressures.
"Nurses and health care assistants are telling us that reduced staffing levels are compromising their ability to provide high quality care, and we urge employers and the Government to listen to these concerns.
"We remain very concerned that with so many NHS Trusts making staffing cuts to save money, patient care could suffer as a result."
The Royal College of Midwives survey finds that further cuts will put women's safety at risk as maternity units, already under-staffed and over-stretched, expect further job losses.
The stark figures collated by the RCN in Scotland show fewer than 30% of Scottish NHS nurses now feel secure in their jobs. Only two years ago, 82% felt they had a long-term future in their posts.
Figures released at the end of August showed that across Scotland nearly 1000 nursing posts are set to be cut by the end of the year. The nursing cuts will take figures below that of five years ago, according to the RCN Scotland.
Evidence of a current nursing shortage that is impacting on patient care is clear and it’s going to get worse over the next three years, if there is not just a freeze on nursing job cuts, but an increase in the number of nurses training through incentive schemes such as a starting bonus. Josie Irwin, staff-side secretary at RCN said: "Coalition policy means that nurses face suffering a second year of pay cuts. This comes on top of unprecedented change and upheaval in the NHS, leading to low morale, uncertainty and insecurity. The RCN calls on the pay review body to recognise that further attacks on pay will only do more damage to recruitment and retention in the NHS."
The results of increasing training numbers now will not be seen until in 2014, so to bridge the immediate gap consideration should be given to three year visas for qualified nurses from abroad.
5. There needs to be more sports facilities for children
'The Challenge' is an organisation where teenagers join up to form teams and go on a three week challenge which involves personal challenges, team challenges, and a final challenge.
By the end of the three weeks each team has to bid for money to raise awareness and then fund raise for a chosen charity, our charity is 'Coventry Sports Foundation' we hope to raise enough awareness to make a difference and help children get healthy.
The Arches Youth and Community Project previously ran a local youth club from two Arches on the Evelyn Estate. We first secured use of the building way back in 2002 and have been using it ever since.
In March 2008 Lewisham Council asked for the keys to be returned and a few months later another group was allowed to used the building.
We have written to Council representatives on numerous occasions and even though it is clear that we have been wrongly evicted, our complaint is yet to be upheld.
Gates of Praise International is a Christian Charity operating in Grays Thurrock for the last 10 Years. We leased an abadoned and derelict yard 4 years ago which has now been renovated. We currently use it as the Administration HQ, Storage for our relief goods and meeting hall.
We applied for a change of use and the local authority rejected the use on the excuse that we have not entered into an agreement to ameliorate the traffic challenges. This was never a discussion at anytime during the application. We were asked to provide reports e.g flood risk assessment, which we did. We have made it clear that we do not constitute to this highlighted problem as we meet outside the hours the other occupants use the estate.
We have a car park for 40 cars and most of the members to site are local. The closest block of flats to the site is about 80metres away. Beneficiaries of the site and our activities include; Little Havens, Thurrock Council Social Services, Ebenezer Homes, St Lukes Hospices, NSPCC, Terrence Higgins Trust, Cancer Research UK, Tearfund, Sightsavers, Family Mosaic, Sanctuary Supported Housing, RSVP. The council has threatened us with an enforcement action which states that we are not to use the site in any connection with a charity. There is no restrictive covenant on the site. It was left vacant for a year before we moved in.
We have made it clear that we will work with the council to remove any obstacle and contribute towards the requested traffic works e.g a pedestrian crossing which has been estimated @ £10k.
We are also prepared to work with the council to find a suitable property in Grays instead of just throwing us out which seems to be the council's intention.
8. Petition for Lifeline's Plea for Hornsby Council Support
A significant number of Lifeline Harbour to Hawkesbury’s face-to-face counselling and support services are at risk of closure due to Lifeline’s own crisis struggle for financial viability and sustainability. Wendy Carver, Lifeline Harbour to Hawkesbury’s CEO, said “It would be an absolute tragedy if any of Lifeline’s services ceased to operate and stopped being able to provide support to people in need in our own local community.”
Lifeline has therefore reached out to Hornsby Council for assistance. Lifeline’s hope is that Hornsby Council will be able to provide them with a Council owned retail property at a subsidised rent which will assure financial survival of their multiple counselling and community services from revenue raised through the selling of high quality second hand clothing, books, brick a brac and furniture. This will ensure residents of Hornsby and Ku-ring-gai are able to continue to receive the support they deserve and need.
For over 40 years Lifeline Harbour to Hawkesbury, based at Gordon, has been providing a wide range of counselling and community service to residents of the North side of Sydney with some services having between 40-50% of clients residing in the Hornsby and Ku-ring-gai Municipalities.
For more information on our services visit our website http://www.lifeline-h2h.org.au/
Please support Lifeline Harbour to Hawkesbury by signing this petition.

The current government policy of the "Big Society" will heavily rely on volunteers in the local community.
Having been a senior volunteer for a national charity for some 30 years I recently, along with several other senior volunteers resigned over a major internal disagreement with the charities national headquarters chief & salaried staff.
On attempting to pursue a grievance it was refused, as I had left. Then on trying to raise a case for "Constructive Dismissal" we found we had absolutely no protection under any UK employment legislation as we were "only volunteers".
Charities have to adhere to all Health & Safety legislation it is time they also had to adhere to fair personnel practices........
11. Please Help Stop Profanity in American Films
America is the only country in the world who freely, and profusely, uses God's and Jesus Christ's name in vain in their cinematic entertainment. It's something that seems to have started in the 1950's.
There is so much "damning" and profanity used in God's name, in American cinematic entertainment, I find it completely unbearable. And the profuse use of the "F" word is also extremely abusive and offensive. What happened to the intelligent and humorous dialogue that used to characterize American films from the onset of "talking pictures"? It's been sadly replaced with all kinds of profanity that has continued to escalate to present day American entertainment.
It is a vulgar representation of America and the American people. It has gone way over the line from decency to nothing more than a continuous display of offensive vulgarities.
12. Make eBay Fundraising Easier
eBay Australia, has made it way too hard for most people to use it as a fundraising platform. Getting authorisations and setting this up takes a lot of time, so most people can't be bothered. Also most people don't even know you can fundraise through eBay.
So, they need to make this much easier, and promote the fact that it can be done. Being the huge community it is, gives it huge potential to do things great. At the moment very little is done. If eBay wanted to utilise all of its potential then it would make Charity Fundraising easier.
All they would need to do is:
-Get authorisation from list of organisations themselves, cutting out the hassle for sellers to have to do this.
-Set up the option to have a percentage of your sale donated to your selected charity, in the listing designer.
-Set up a system where this percentage is sent to themselves (eBay), and eBay sends it to the selected charity.
This needs to be done... and now!
13. Save Birmingham CAB Open Door Service
Birmingham CAB has announced the closure of the Open Door Information and Advice Service at all five bureaux across the city from 11th February 2011. This is because the City Council has decided to withdraw funding of £600,000 which currently pays for this service in bureaux at Northfield, Tyseley, Handsworth, Kingstanding and the city centre.
The CAB has been serving the people of Birmingham since 1939 and last year saw 56,000 clients through the open door service, all of whom were seen without charge.
14. To Allow The Phoenix Foundation to be run by TPCA
The Phoenix Chief Advocates (Sara Payne, Shy Keenan & Fiona Crook) are a not-for-profit organisation that help victims and families of paedophile crimes.
They offer their services for free, and have also managed to change and introduce many laws to make the UK a safer place for our children.
After a long struggle they have managed to get set up a registered charity "The Phoenix Foundation" in order to raise funds for victim advocacy.
The Charity Commission has refused permission for them to run their charity on the grounds of "political conflicts of interests", and also that they could not be "paid trustees".
Therefore they (as it stands) are not allowed to be a part of their own charity due to these reasons, which is completely unacceptable as follows -
Child protection in the sense of Sarah's Law is not political - it is every childs right to feel and to be safe, and if they were to fall victim to abuse, it is their right to receive the correct counselling and treatment.
Sara, Shy & Fiona never wanted to be Paid Trustees, they applied to be unpaid trustees until funds needed were raised by them, then they would step down to take up the advocacy and support role.
15. A Posthumous Knighthood for George Harrison
George Harrison has contributed so much to the world of music, film and charity, including The concert For Banladesh. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aTw39LFL_-c
Why has he gone unnoticed for so long? He was one of the most influential people of the last half of the 20th century and I feel that is about time that he was recognised for all the good that he has given worldwide.
A Posthumous Knighthood for George Harrison !!!
16. Brian Menzies deserves to be on Oprah let's make this happen!
Brian Menzies is the CEO of Charity cars inc. Let's all get him on the Oprah show as we have been trying to for months now sign the petition and pass it along!
The Original Charity Cars (DBA Free Charity Cars) is a 501-C-3 non-profit charity, EIN 59-3362703. Established in 1996, our founding mission is to provide refurbished donated vehicles to struggling individuals or qualified entities. Considered the pioneers of the free car-ownership concept, our entrepreneurial organization is totally self-sufficient and succeeds without a penny of government funding. Year after year, our charity leads the nation in awarding free vehicles to deserving candidates across America (over 4000), many times paying for the down-payment for auto insurance, as well as the tag, title and registration fees. Additional auto related assistance provided may include mechanical repairs, body-shop repairs, roadside assistance, warranty purchases, parts purchases, rental cars, or even the down-payment for the purchase of a new or used car.
The Original Charity Cars has enjoyed an avalanche of local and national publicity, including being featured Montel Williams, Good Morning America, CBS Morning News, and Two Guys Garage. Articles about the program have appeared in a host of publications including People Magazine, Women's World Magazine, Motor Trend, The Non-Profit Times, and The Chronicle of Philanthropy. Among its many awards, our organization is honored to be a past winner of the prestigious Walt Disney World Outstanding Community Service Award.
Have a Heart and Join us Now in Creating Public awareness of HPLS.
1-200 Children each year are born with this Congenital Heart condition. And these numbers are on the rise. This condition is often fatal in Ireland as lack of awareness and in adequate detection are the biggest challenges children with HLHS Face. Thats before they even start treatment.
My son Ben was born in 2003, he lived for 4 hours. We had no pre-warning of his condition. Nor where we provided with any extra scanning, even though there is a history of MAJOR Heart defects in my family. Had I received scanning Ben maybe alive today.
Ben was born with only half a heart working basically, had it been diagnosed in the womb he could have gone on to have surgery and treatment that could have given him a chance at life.
Research into this condition is needed as its a very uncertain world for families and children who have it. There is no known cause of it and as of yet no known cure. However surgery is available to help prolong life and give each child a chance.
In Ben's memory we have established a Voluntary Organisation with a view to becoming a registered Charity as we grow, called The Heart of a Child Fund, part of our aims is to create public awareness of HLHS and also to to lobby for better scanning in pregnancy for women. We aim to also to provide written literature to be place in all doctors surgery's and hospitals throughout Ireland and have information readily available to families who have a child diagnosed with this serious condition. People deserve to know there are options.

18. Help Find "Relate North Kent" a new home
Relate North Kent provide relationship counselling for the residents of the Bexley, Dartford, Gravesend, Medway and Swale Council areas. As part of the redevelopment of Medway, the Charity has been asked to vacate the premises kindly provided by the local authority for a number of years.
The Medway Centre is the administrative base for the Charity and each year appointments are arranged for many hundreds of people seeking help and support through difficult times in their relationships. In addition we provide counselling and support to children and young people that may be profoundly affected by the breakdown in adult relationships in the home.
At a time when there is greater stress on couples and the family with anxiety over the prevailing economic climate, fear of redundancy, negative equity concerns etc. now might be the wrong time to disrupt the delivery of a support service that exists to help address those concerns.
This petition aims to secure support from those within Medway and the surrounding areas in encouraging Medway Council to see the benefit to the community of sustaining the support to the Charity. In addition, to secure a building to allow the continued and uninterupted delivery of the services across North Kent.
19. St Wilfrid's SOS
Our plans to build a new 15-bed hospice have been refused.
Please help us in finding a new site to build a bigger, fit for purpose hospice to better serve the community.
Following Eastbourne Borough Councils’ shock decision to turn down plans to rebuild the hospice on the existing site in Mill Gap Road, we have decided to look for an alternative site and are launching the SOS or Support our Search campaign to enlist the community’s help.
20. Support SOS
SOS is a charity, that has an annual funfair, and holds jumbo sales. It buys acres of rainforest, so that animals can continue to live there. It also sponsors animals.
21. Criminalize Begging and Panhandling in Malaysia
Dear Friends,
I would like to put an end to begging. I always wonder who these people are and how my money is going to be spent: Will it be used to pay for administration or directly in the helping of the needy? How will I know that this person is legitimate? As I ponder these questions, I feel pressured to give and when you give in doubt, you are insincere. Thus making the donation less altruistic than it should be.
I hate stealing of any kind, it robs you not only of material possessions but casts a shadowy cloud over humanity. It taketh away the sense of justice and mercy that the virtuous act of giving is supposed to uphold.
I have heard rumours of syndicates who use the disabled to arouse sympathy, of miscreants who feign incapacity to collect donations and of organisations who are fronts of criminal activity under the guise of religiousity and charity that fool the public. I have personally experienced individuals seeking donations who have been ‘endorsed’ by a letter from some authority. I often wondered why the government issue out such letters claiming the authenticity of these fund raisers, when tax payers have already contributed precisely to manage their welfare.
Therefore, I would like to put forward a programme to eliminate this potential menace by requesting:
1. The government to publicise its welfare programmes and encourage those who wish to help the needy nominate the candidate through proper channels.
2. The establishment of a Charities Commission to oversee the management of charity organisation and those seeking to solicit funds from the public.
3. To make public the names of all tax-exempt charity organisations and their Board of Directors. This task should be handled by a separate organisation (I dub it Charities Exchange) under the purview of the Home Ministry. Its function is to mirror Bursa Malaysia of maintaining adequate disclosure and accountability of the highest order.
4. To cease and desist of issuing of letters on government stationery purporting to allow and support individuals to collect funds from the public.
5. The establishment of policies and rules for soliciting donations.
6. To criminalise panhandling and begging.
I believe this is an issue of great concern to our national security. If you support the same, please sign the attached petition.
22. Encouraging media to accentuate the positive
We claim we want to increase positive contributions made by those in our world, but yet we don't protest when our media presents 99 percent of its broadcasts and papers filled with war, crime, and violence.
While it is true that these things are occurring and we need to know about them to encourage change toward peace, why can't we hold our media accountable for showing a more realistic view of us. I request you sign this petition to encourage all media to be required, through their license in journalism, to dedicate at least fifty percent of their contents to positive actions and events in the world. The reasons your support of this petition is crucial follow.
One. It has been shown that media heavily influences our behavior. If its contents continue to accentuate the negative, our young people will learn to value violence. However, if we encourage the media to dedicate at least half of its contents to positive events and actions, we will promote higher quality values of peace and kindness.
Two. It has been scientifically proven that optimism improves health. If we hear more positive news everyday, it will improve individual health, increase mood, and inspire us to act in kindness and peace. Thus, improving the health of our society by requiring media to report positive news daily.
Some other reasons include:
One. Showing positive role models.
Two. Increasing the number and willingness of volunteers.
Three. Maintaining and improving the life and services of charitable organizations who help improve quality of life for those who need assistance.
Four. Promoting peaceful conflict resolutions (right now all the media seem to be showing is crime and use of guns for this. We need to encourage the showing of positive conflict resolution through medium.)
Five. Increasing self-respect and respect for others.
In conclusion, I request that you sign this petition in support of requiring the media, through requirements of journalism licensing, to dedicate at least fifty percent of its coverage to positive news and events. In doing this, we will promote peace, values, respect, altruism, volunteerism, health, and a more prosperous world.
Thank you for taking the time to read and consider this petition.
Thank you for your support to require the media to accentuate the positive for the improvement of our world.
23. Support the victims of Darfur conflict
For four years, women and children have been tortured in the Darfur region of Africa, in which tribal wars are taking place.
24. Against Cancer Research UK testing on animals
Cancer Research UK test on animals, so those of you planning on or already supporting them, think again. Animals have just as much rights as humans, abusing them in labs is simply not acceptable. Please stop supporting them.
I plan to send this petition to CRUK and show them that we will not accept it.
25. Stop child abuse and domestic violence Now!
Domestic abuse does not stop at the physicaly abused party, it contributes to the children involved mentally, which can be worse than the phisical.
I have been left mentaly scar'd by the mental abuse i received from my father, i am now 24 years of age and he still has a hold on me.
This issue has to be raised and help needs to be given to all the children who's lives are shattered by abusive parents mentaly or physicaly.
I call for anyone who feels the same, has been in the situation or can help me run a charitable organization to help people who suffer, to please give that help if they can.
26. Please help South Essex Wildlife Hospital
July 11, 2006
South Essex Wildlife Hospital is a rescue, rehabilitation and public advice charity officially formed in 1995 by Sue Schwar as a result of there being no alternative wildlife facility in the area.
No sick, injured or orphaned animal is turned away, requiring that the hospital operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Our charity has been donated 3 acres of land on which to build a new hospital, as after 20 years we have out grown our existing accommodation. This land is within the green belt making it ideal for the care and release of many of the 10,000 patients per year that the hospital currently rescues.
Sadly some of the council planning officers do not consider our cause to be exceptional as they have denied us planning permission jeopardising the future of our charity.
Please add your details to our petition appealing against the council's decision and thus supporting SEWH's vital work enabling it to continue for many years to come.
27. WestLife for George Best charity
December 4, 2005
On the 3rd of december 2005 I watched the funeral of George Best and at the end a westlife song was played called "you raise me up" and I was thinking the amount of copies they will now sell, then I thought wouldn`t it be nice it they donated all the money from that single to a charity that George Best worked with or supported.
So please sign this petition for westlife to donate the money to a charity of Calum Best`s choice.
28. Stop apologising for being English
There's nothing wrong with being English!
It's about time we got over this pathetic idea we need to perpetually crucify and victimise ourselves in the media.
The ordinary English taxpayer gives millions to Africa, pays billions in income support for asylum seekers, and is in general warm and welcoming. So why are we so quick to give ourselves a hard time and feel guilty about national pride?
Come on England! If we had been so wimpy in the past we wouldn't have had an empire in the first place, let alone had the nerve to take on Napoleon and Hitler.
29. Michael Jackson and George Michael FIGHT!!!!
Petition to get George Michael and Michael Jackson to fight for charity.

All money that Channel 10/Grundy gained from this round (from Sunday November 2, 2003 to Monday November 3, 2003) of the Australian Idol voting process (less that which is refunded to voters by a certain date) must be donated to charity.
