1. We All Are ONE!

When you look at all of the problems facing the world today--environmental exploitation, animal cruelty, hunger, poverty, greed, war, and many more--the fundamental problem can be seen as a fragmented mindset, one which perceives everything else as something separate from the self.

In the words of noted quantum physicist Dr. Amit Goswami:

"The ultimate disease--the root disease--is the illusory thinking that we are separate from the Whole. To heal the disease is to realize that we are Whole, that the separation is but an illusion."

Thus, the goal of this petition is to heal the fragmented mentality through promoting an ethical system based on the most fundamental, universal, unifying belief in the world: that everything emanates from One, Supremely Good and Beautiful Source, and, therefore, everything is essentially One.

This simple, universal belief has resounding ethical implications (e.g. we should treat all things with love, compassion, and respect), healing the world on a fundamental level.

This belief is so universal and so powerful, it is high time it receives its due honor and support.

So, please, take a stand with us and declare: We all are One!

2. Stop production of puppy farms

In Asutralia and thoughout the world, Puppys are just kept in Puppy farms/mills only for one purpose - PROFIT!

In return the dogs are given food, water, sheler etc, but it doesnt matter if you had all of them its the conditions it is in - Dogs are kept in a box, sometimes 20 in one isolated box, where they are hardly given any food or water, they are never washed, they are in pain from no caution, over breeding etc.

All of them if they could speak, would have their first words be 'Get me out if here ' they are in pain, many having to be put down as there is nothing the vets can do for them. If they were to die in a puppy farm and their bodies are literally thrown away in a corner of the farm or in large metal bins where their bodies are stacked up to the top.

HELP ME STOP SUCH CRUELTY!!!

3. Shut down puppy farms in the UK

Thousands of puppies and breeding dogs suffer every day living in confined spaces with no acess to run or interact with other dogs.

They are kept just for making money and forced to have litter after litter.

This is cruel and must end.

4. More pro-animal apps and less pro-hunting ones

If you have an iPhone, iPad or other Apple device, and search "hunting" under "apps", you will find loads of pro-hunting ones, and almost no anti-hunting apps.
Sport hunting is cruelty to animals. Period.

I can understand that some people, and some animals, need to hunt to survive, but hunting for fun or for profit is totally inexcusable and barbaric. We need more animal rights apps and less of those ones that promote cruelty, and at is why it is important for those of use who care about animals to buy pro-animal apps, sign this petition and send polite messages to Apple to spread compassion.

5. Stop the Use of Killing Neck Snares against Wolves in British Columbia

The Government of British Columbia currently uses killing neck snares targeting wolves and other apex carnivores as part of their wildlife management program. The snares are commonly set on crown (public) land. In the best case scenario the snares cause a painful death by choking - in the worst case the animal can suffer for days before slowly succumbing.

The snares are very poorly targeted and non-specific - and the number of non-targeted victims of other species can approach or equal the those of the targeted animals (background information: www.naturalart.ca/voice/blog.html- 21 February 2013 entry).

Wolves and other apex carnivores have high ecological value and potentially high economic value (background information: www.naturalart.ca/voice/wolfvalue.html). Their cost to society is extremely low (background information: www.naturalart.ca/voice/wolfcost.html). Yet the Government of BC manages them as vermin, reducing their population numbers as low as possible without actually endangering them.

Killing neck snares are most commonly used to “protect” cattle that are grazing on publicly-owned land. Depredation rates on cattle in BC by predators are minuscule - under one tenth of one percent of the total cattle that graze on public lands. This grazing has been described by scientists and politicians “as the most pervasive and destructive use of public lands” - and it occurs on 8.5 million hectares (almost 33,000 square miles) of land in BC. On this publicly-owned land the welfare of domestic cattle that are owned by private entrepreneurs currently takes priority over ecologically-valuable apex carnivores that are owned by all citizens of BC. And, the killing of wolves and other carnivores on this public land is paid for by the tax dollars of all British Columbians (an ecological and economic subsidy we all pay for).

It is time to stop the barbaric and inhumane practice of using neck snares to kill apex carnivores on public land. And it is time to reverse a policy that is completely backwards: the government of BC must move towards wildlife management policies that, on public land, give priority to all naturally-occurring and ecologically-valuable species of wildlife, and that are owned by all British Columbians, over that of the welfare of ecologically damaging domestic species (including cattle) that are owned by private entrepreneurs.

8. ANIMAL CRUELTY MUST STOP NOW!

We demand HARSHER PENALTIES for ANIMAL CRUELTY worldwide!

When we protect our animals, we then are also protecting our society against violence. People who have been known to hurt animals move on to hurt human beings. Widening our circle of compassion to include the animals is not just for sentimental reasons. It makes perfect sense. Animals are connected to people. What happens to them happens to us.

9. Stop Mistreatment of bears at Los Angeles County Fair

The Los Angeles County Fair is hosting a traveling bear act called Welde's Big Bear show. Welde’s act is cruel and unacceptable. Many organizations have campaigned against this outfit for many years.

Bears will only perform frightening tricks, such as riding scooters or balancing on a ball, through physical punishment, fear, and intimidation. Being kept in tiny enclosures causes most bears to go insane. Captive bears spend much of the day pacing, walking in tight circles, swaying or rolling their heads, and showing other signs of psychological distress. Using these bears in a tawdry sideshow is cruel and doesn’t showcase any of their natural behavior or intelligence.

Welde admits that he has hand-raised most of his bears from infancy. This means that the babies were forcibly removed from their mothers within days of birth. Bears have strong maternal instincts, and premature separation is psychologically cruel to both the infants and their mothers. It also deprives the babies of the maternal care needed for normal physical and mental development.

Animal exhibitors touring the fair circuit follow a tight schedule. The logistics of fulfilling multiple contracts does not allow for downtime to let animals rest or exercise or to attend to sick or injured animals. It’s impossible to know how many animals suffer and die en route from fair to fair, because the caravans are constantly on the move, and for the most part, no one is watching. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) oversees traveling animal shows, but with fewer than 100 inspectors covering the country, it’s virtually impossible to regularly monitor these exhibitors. Innumerable small-town venues lack a veterinarian with expertise in exotic animals, and animals who are ill or injured may go untreated. Many animals are inexpensive to procure, making it cheaper to replace them than to pay for veterinary care or lose time attending to a sick animal.

We will sending this petition to the L.A. County Fair Association as well as the 30 corporate sponsors represented at the fair. We hope to gather at least 10,000 signatures.

In a state that has a bear on our state flag and is our state animal, how can we let this cruelty happen at the Los Angeles County Fair? Please help by signing this petition and sharing with as many people as possible.

11. Make selling/giving away undesexed pets illegal

Across the country, there is wide disparity among shelters and their application of desexing. Problems stemming from inadequate training, insufficient funding, indifference to animal suffering, and failure to recognize the need to change and update procedures, are found everywhere, from small rural shelters to large city facilities.10,000 animals are euthanized everyday.

The local shelter is too often the last stop for a dog or cat. Shelters have been put into this unenviable position by the irresponsible breeding of far too many animals. Puppy mills, pet stores, backyard breeders, "responsible" hobby and show breeders, people who simply won't, don't bother, or "forget" to have their animals spayed or neutered, pet food companies who subsidize breeders with free samples and discount coupons, and the cat and dog breed "clubs" that encourage breeding -- all contribute to this massive problem.

It is a sad fact that, when a human being chooses to create a relationship with another living being, then fails to live up to the responsibilities that go with that relationship, we allow the human to walk away guilt-free -- it is always the animal who pays 100% of the price for the human's errors.

12. Justice for Rugar

Rugar, a beloved and devoted family dog, was shot in the face on Monday, July 9th and left to suffer by a St. Louis County, Minnesota Sheriff's Deputy...Officer Chris Cazin. The only reason that the officer drove down the quarter mile driveway was to deliver an old medical bill.

After first tazing Rugar, he then shot the dog in the face, and then the officer left the property. Rugar's owner drove up a short time later to find his faithful friend gurgling on his own blood in the driveway. The magnitude of this situation is astounding, the cruelty that the officer showed is truly horrifying. Needless to say, Rugar had to be put down, there was no saving him...the only option was to humanely end his suffering.

We have to put a stop to this kind of senseless violence. If we can't even trust officers to place proper judgement on the use of deadly force when it comes to our pets, how can we trust them with our children or ourselves?

Please stand up for Rugar and the many other pets who have lost their lives in similar circumstances.

13. Ban the Chuck Wagon Races once and for all

The Chuck Wagon Races have been very popular for many people for many years at the Calgary Stampede but is it really worth the lives of innocent animals who don't have a choice?

On Thursday, July 12th, 2012, 3 more horses had to be put down for 'sport' after they had crashed. One more horse from this same crash has serious injuries and will be needing surgery. This doesn't include the many other horses that have died from many other causes throughout the years. These deaths include crashes, heart-attacks and pure exhaustion, among other things. These horses are experiencing the worst kind of deaths imaginable because their last living moments, they are suffering from so much pain.

The rodeo is a fun and exciting event but do we really need the Chuck Wagon Races? This is simply cruelty to animals masquerading as entertainment and it needs to be stopped.

We need to take action to stop these deaths from occurring every year. The safety improvement have clearly not worked so out next step is to stop this from happening altogether.

Please sign if you believe in animal welfare. These horses need better lives and to not be used in brutal entertainment.

14. Support a NSW Animal Cruelty Register

There is a significant and undeniable link in society between animal cruelty and general criminal behaviour.

Offenders who commit acts of serious crime such as murder, sexual and indecent assaults, domestic violence, and arson, often have a history involving some degree of animal abuse.

Establishing an Animal Cruelty Register – which operates successfully in a number of states in the USA, including three New York County’s – would require every person convicted of an act of cruelty against an animal within New South Wales to record their names and personal details on the register.

The register would operate similar to the Child Protection Register where offenders will be responsible for ensuring their most up-to-date details and identifiable information is recorded, failing to do so would result in a fine.

Each offender will also be fined for the offence committed and this money would directly support the operation of the register.

The establishment of an animal cruelty register would benefit both humans and animals and would allow the fight against animal cruelty to shift to being more proactive. Rather then consistently fighting cruelty in a reactive manner, the register would allow authorities to keep an eye on offenders and to, effectively, prevent future abuse occurring.

All pet shops, shelters, breeders and rescue groups will have the ability to review the register prior to selling or adopting-out an animal to an individual.

The register would also enable law-enforcement bodies to search for potential offenders when an animal cruelty offence, or linked criminal offence, takes place in a certain region.

Please support, sign and share this petition. This will then be taken to NSW Parliament with all the signatures to show the government that members of the voting community want to see the establishment of an animal abuse register.

Thanks for supporting the animals.

15. Ban animals from circuses in Australia

"Bears, elephants, tigers, and other animals do not voluntarily ride bicycles, stand on their heads, balance on balls, or jump through rings of fire. They don't perform these and other difficult tricks because they want to; they perform them because they're afraid of what will happen if they don't."

16. Ban animal cruelty in slaughter houses

How much do you know about the pork, milk, beef, or chicken in your house? Do you know what happens to the animal to get there, on your dinner plate?

Tons of pigs, cows, horses, turkeys, and chicken are living in extremely bad conditions just so you can eat. These animals have their throats silt open or their heads chopped off while still being alive and upside down.

Chicken and turkeys (For eggs and meat). They most likely have it the worst, being cramped into small sheds by the 10,000's. Filthy sheds, walking in their own excrement and on the bodies of other dead birds. Most of them can't even walk due to steroids people use to make them grow larger. Their bones break and most die because they can't reach their food. They also die from heart attacks or lung failure. When they are being moved to a slaughter house, they are literally thrown into tiny wired boxes. Usually injuring them further, due to carelessness of people. They will often freeze to the sides of the wire boxes they are transported.

At the slaughter house, they are slapped into straps by their already brittle bones and their throats slit open while still alive. 90% of them are still alive when placed into feather removal tanks, that scaled and burn their feathers off. If you thought the males had it bad, hens are stuffed into tiny wired cages. Between 5 and 15 per box. These boxes are so small and so filled, they won't even be able to stretch a wing. The hens might go insane locked in these tiny boxes, so their beaks are removed. A chicken beck is FILLED with nerve endings that will cause them extreme pain.

Cows (Dairy and beef cows). Males are castrated, their horns chopped off, and repeatedly branded. All with no pain kills. Dehorning is a very painful and dangerous thing. USDA approves the sell of cattle with cancerous or pus pouring wounds to be sold as beef. Which can be consider tainted and unhealthy meat. Illness and injuries go untreated and uncared for. When the reach the slaughter houses, they are hung upside down, their throats slit open, and usually skinned alive.

Dairy cows have it just as bad, if not worse. They are forced to stay pregnant through almost all of their lives to keep milk producing. They are hooked up to machines that milk them, and will often injure their utters. At the end of their lives, they are either sent straight for slaughter or sold off at actions to be sent to a slaughter house. More the 1,000 cows are not able to walk off transportation trucks every year. They are still sold as human food. Most of the hamburger in the USA comes from spent dairy cows.

Pigs. Forced in tiny stalls, they aren't even allowed to turn around. The first time they will breathe fresh air, if when they are on the back of the truck. Many will go insane. Piglets have their ears mutilated, tails chopped off, teeth removed and males castrated all without pain killers. Pig who don't grow fast enough, "fall behinds". Are killed by being swung around by their feet and heads slammed into a cement floor. Like chickens, they grow so quickly they cannot walk. Many become ill or severally injured, but not put out of their misery, because as long as they are alive, they can be sold. Those who can't make it, are shot with what they call a captive bolt gun. Which shots out a bolt by compressed air, and sometimes won't kill the animal on the first strike. They usually lay in pain, screaming for mercy. Beating them with gate rods is how they are moved. It's the most common form of abuse.

They are packed so tightly in trucks, most of their legs will snap under the weight of other pigs. 400,000 pigs who are unable to walk off the truck arrive at the slaughter house each year. 100,000 arrive dead. Theses are industry figures. Most refuse to believe this, and know it's a lie. Their throats are slit while still awake. Some are burned alive in the scolding tank, used for hair removal.

I'm not doing this to say you need to be a vegetarian or a vegan. I'm doing this to ban the cruelty in the slaughter houses. These animals are going through this pain, just so companies can save a penny here and their. I hope that this will be recognized and animals will have better living conditions.

17. STOP BREED-SPECIFIC LEGISLATION IN BASTROP LA

Put a stop to breed-specific legislation(BSL). Everyday a dog is mistaken for a pit bull. There are over 25+ dog breeds that can look very similar to an American Pit Bull Terrier (APBT). Also, everyday laws are being put in place to take away or restrict our pets. Any dog has the potential to be dangerous.

I do not agree with dog fighting and that being said, feel that laws against fighting should be enforced better. All of this is the result of irresponsible owners. The APBT is NOT a human aggressive breed. They love humans and want to please us. They are also a great family dog, wonderful with children. They didn't get the nickname Nanny Dog for nothing. If no one does anything about this euthanasia will be next. It is impossible to enforce the registration of one specific breed.

Please, help us in our efforts to stop BSL before it's too late. Once our breed is gone they will find another breed to slander and it could be yours. There is no such thing as a bad dog, only bad owners.

18. Stopping the importation of cosmetics tested on animals

Animal testing has been banned from certain countries such as the EU, however Australia continues import and sell cosmetics tested on animals.

Currently, thousands of rabbits are bread for animal testing and are restricted to small, overcrowded cages that cause them to become ill and injured. Animals are restrained and forced to inhale, eat, or have ingredients applied to their skin and even eyes.

19. Don't Shoot Bats

The Liberal National Party of Qld says they will re-introduce lethal methods of crop protection. The shooting and electrocution of flying-foxes (to prevent crop damage) was outlawed in Queensland as it was proven to be inhumane, and largely ineffective.

Tens of thousands of animals were killed using methods that often left them to die excruciatingly painful deaths. It sometimes takes days for these Australian native animals to die from their injuries.

The bats killed include large numbers of Grey-headed and Spectacled Flying-foxes. Both are listed as threatened species.

All the facts, research and contact details are provided at www.dontshootbats.com.

Allowing these methods sanctions animal cruelty. Please send the LNP of Qld a message that you abhor animal cruelty, and demand that they commit to supporting only humane methods of crop protection.

21. Put a Stop to Bakers Hill Puppy Mill in Western Australia

Every Year we see a huge waste of life with the euthenising of thousands of companion animals. Our Shelters and Pounds are overflowing with unwanted or abused animals and all at the tax payers expense. Does it not make sense then to put an end to Puppy Mils that send out a constant flow of dogs and cats into society only to add more to the already horrific number of animals that are disposed of on a daily basis.

Not only are they adding to this already huge number, it is a documented fact that animals from Puppy Mills come with a high risk of health and behavioural issues.
As voters we have the power to put an end to the farming of our companion animals by letting our government know we will not remain silent in regards to this cruel and unnecessary industry. We will fight for those who cannot fight for themselves.

22. Change the American Kennel Club

I was shocked to discover that the AKC discriminate against mixed breeds by not allowing them into their classes or competitions. Mixed breeds are hardier because they are less prone to genetic conditions.

As well as this, I disagree with the way that the AKC promotes puppy mills by registering puppie that have been bred on these filthy, cramped places where female dogs are bred to exhaustion and then either killed or dumped at animal shelters.

Despite the cruelties behind this support, the AKC are planning on allowing hounds to hunt raccoons. Yes, the hounds do need to fulfil their urge to hunt, but this can be fulfilled by laying artificial scents.

As well as this, the AKC is allowing the over-breeding of dogs, which can result in pugs with such short snouts that they cannot breathe properly.

23. Ban Rodeos in Victoria

No doubt many of you have seen the recent tv advertisements promoting the 7th Annual International Rodeo that will be held here in Melbourne. I was so shocked to see this abhorrent 'sport' still finds support within out community.

While I doubt we can prevent this particular event from going ahead, we can raise the profile of this issue and call for a ban on events like this in the future, as has been done in the ACT, Britain and parts of Europe and (surprise?) the USA.

Put simply, this 'sport' relies on the use of pain to satisfy it's audience. In this day and age, we know better. Were rodeos not to exist, hundreds of animals would live without being forced to go through this distressing, painful experience, while it's supporters would simply find some other hobby to consume their time.

To me, the argument is a simple one: the pleasure people may take in this 'sport' is not of greater value than the welfare of the animals that are subjected to its inherent cruelty.

I urge you to take action against these disgraceful events, and show that they are not welcome here in the future.

THE FACTS
Bull Riding:
- Straps are placed around the bulls' bodies and press on their genitals. This, as it would for any one of us, causes pain and makes the bulls buck.
- In addition, electric prods are used as a bull leaves the gate in order to make it buck more wildly.

Calf/Steer Roping (copied from animalsaustralia.org/issues/rodeos):

"Contestants on horseback must rope a calf (usually within 60 seconds), dismount and throw the calf, then any three of its hooves must be tied together and held for five seconds.

Injuries caused by the force of lassoing and jerking to a halt, then being thrown, include tearing or stretching of ligaments, disc rupture, internal haemorrhaging to the thymus gland and trachea and subcutaneous tissue damage.

Calves can suffer broken legs, even broken necks, and research has shown that even though they get to their feet and leave the arena apparently unharmed, calves can still be suffering from internal haemorrhaging which is not visible without an autopsy. These young animals with soft bones and still developing bodies, should never be subjected to such harsh treatment.

Steers are usually required to be roped within 90 seconds. Injuries include bruising, broken limbs and horns, as well as stress caused by brutal handling. Injuries in this event can cause an animal to be destroyed (out of sight of the crowd)."

25. Call for Harsher Animal Abuse Penalties in Newfoundland and Labrador

In cases of animal cruelty/neglect, the current provincial animal protection act in Newfoundland and Labrador imposes a fine no less than $50 and no more than $200 for first and second offences.

In third or subsequent offences, a fine can be issued to a maximum of $500. Compared to other provinces across the country this legislation is weak at best.

Stories of cases of animal abuse continue to circulate across the province attracting media attention and causing public outrage from animal lovers and rescue organizations witihin the province and across the maritimes.

It is time for government to take notice and revise the provinical animal protection act so it is at least on par with similar legislations across the country. For instance, in Alberta, fines can reach up to $20,000. In Ontario, up to $60,000 and in BC a fine can be issued for $5000 for a first offense and $10,000 for a second offence.

With the influx of cases of animal cruelty occurring within our province and specifically in Northern Labrador, attention must be paid! Harsher penalties for this type of offense will set an example to potential offenders and reduce the instances of repeat offenders. A $50 fine for torturing an animal is the same as no law at all!!

Please sign your name in support of this cause.

This is for Mia, a little pup from Northern Labrador who was forced to inhale gas and was inevitably damaged so badly she had to be euthanized.

It is for the puppies who were tossed out in a garbage bag and left for dead. Or the tiny pup found locked in a deep freeze barely alive.

It is for the animals of Dunville Placentia Bay who were abandoned in their home and left to starve to death and it is for every animal that has experienced, neglect, torture, cruelty, and distress at the hands of someone who should no better.

This petition will be submitted to government along with letters and documents supporting the need for change.

Please make sure your name is counted!

28. Set Anne the circus elephant free!

Anne, 59 years old, is Britain's last circus elephant, the Asian elephant was brought by Bobby Roberts (owner of the travelling circus) parents in the 1950's for approx £3,000 , in those days she was one of many circus elephants, but now most circuses have stopped using animals.

Secret security cameras have filmed Anne being beaten a total of 48 times by her 'carers' who are paid £8,000 a year, she is abused by pitchforks, iron bars and other bits of equipment which are slammed into her so strongly she sometimes loses her footing, she is absolutely defenceless, as she is chained to the spot by her legs and arthritis has taken toll on her aging body.

Bobby Roberts says he will set her free if he finds a suitable sanctuary in England and claims the US is too far. If we get enough signatures to sign this and spread the word, who knows if we can change this stressed elephant's life?

I wish to make cutting parts of animals off before they are dead illegal. I wish to create a law that states all slaughterhouses must have CCTV 24/7 and yearly inspections. This is to make slaughterhouses more humane before they are killed.
