Petition Background (Preamble):
Xena Warrior Princess was a supernatural adventure fantasy series that ran from 1995-2001. The story followed Xena (played by Lucy Lawless), a princess and mighty warrior in a quest to seek redemption for her past sins as a warlord by using her formidable fighting skills to help people.
Xena was accompanied by Gabrielle (played by Renee O'Connor), a naive farm girl who pleaded to join Xena on her journeys and became Xena's greatest ally, helping Xena to balance her evil past with insights and temperance. Both learned important lessons from the other. Xena taught Gabrielle about fighting and using her instincts which aided Gabrielle in a vast transformation from farm girl to Amazon Queen to a warrior. In kind, Gabrielle's purity, guidance, and spiritual quest inspired Xena to become a better person who was able to recognize and pursue fighting for the "greater good".
Xena was a breakout hit which went into syndication and aired in more than 108 countries around the world since 1998. It is ranked #10 on TV Guide's Top Cult Shows Ever and has an overall rating of 8.7 out of 10 on TV.com. Xena was named as the #1 Female Fantasy Character and Gabrielle #8 by sciencefiction.com in March of 2012. And Xena just Won the 2013 Half Price Books Tournament of Heroes out of 64 sci-fi/fantasy heroes as "The Bravest Hero Of All."
Xena led to the creation of comic books, toys, video games, commemorative coins, swords, clothing, animated movies, books about the series, and served as a spin-off for other films and projects. The Xena Fan Convention has continued to be held annually in California, as well as in several other countries. Longtime Xena fan websites (since 1996) such as http://whoosh.org/ and Ausxip at http://lucylawless.net continue to have mass followings.
Help redeem Xena's soul and bring them back for a movie!

Petition:
We, the undersigned, call on the parties mentioned above: To make a Xena Warrior Princess Movie with Lucy Lawless and Renee O'Connor.
We want to see our iconic female heroes star in a Xena movie! There are countless male action heroes years older starring in movies and reprising roles. Arnold Schwarzenegger (65yo) is making another Conan The Barbarian movie and Bruce Willis (57yo) just reprised Die Hard 25 years later and starring in a new GI Joe movie. The original cast members of Star Wars are rumored to be returning 36 years later to be in the upcoming Star Wars movies. Liam Neeson, Jeff Bridges, Sly Stallone, Tom Cruise, Robert Downey Jr, Johnny Depp, all years older and doing many action roles.
We feel that the talented, fit, and beautiful actresses of Xena deserve the same opportunity to reprise their roles. Lucy and Renee are also positive role models in real life, adding to the empowerment that they convey through their characters and the story.
What made Xena unique was that she was relatable, as a person trying to do good while constantly battling her dark side. She learned lessons from her failures as well as her triumphs. She earned her skills, took her lumps and often put herself in harm's way to protect her loved ones and others. Through it all, she was a mother and devoted friend. A hero in the truest sense as she won more often with her personal attributes and skills than by any superpowers. There was something in Xena that people of all ages could identify with - investigating the ideas of taking responsibility for past misdeeds, honor, the value of human life, personal liberty and sacrifice, and friendship. The show often addressed ethical dilemmas, such as the morality of pacifism.
Xena has all of the elements for a movie, ripe with adventure, epic fight scenes, and beautiful scenery. Blending action with Xena's brilliant strategizing and constant inner struggle, Gabrielle's anecdotes and inspiring good spirit, their unwavering committment to each other through the trials and tribulations of their journeys, and via their struggles with their personal choices and that of each other's.
A Xena movie can bring iconic female action heroes from tv to the big screen. For the fans who have gotten to know Xena before and for the current generation who are in need of the same hero.
We point out the success of the Veronica Mars kickstarter campaign and ask that Universal work with Rob Tapert and fans toward a viable solution and terms to get the movie made. It would be a win/win for all.
We vow to use every means you give us to support and promote this movie. We are behind it, and the cast who made it leap into our hearts, 100%.
