Background (Preamble):
The primary purpose of this background section is to support a petition at the White House petition site that includes the possibility of creating an "Open Petitions" page similar to the example provided below. A duplicate of that petition is provided at the bottom of this page for anyone who might want to add a few comments, which is something that can't be done at the White House petition site. The first 20 signatures and their comments are not relevant because they relate to a previous version of this petition which expired months ago without gaining much support.
Whether or not the new petition is successful, this page will be maintained (updated daily) as a public service for anyone wishing to get a quick fix on all the White House's active petitions that haven't reached their 30-day expiration dates. For ease of access, both www.newpage.info and www.expireafter30days.info will get you back to this page.
Every signature total you see below is linked to its petition's WhiteHouse.Gov page. Bear in mind that petitions expire after 30 days if they fail to cross 2 separate thresholds:
1. 150 - to become visible to visitors at the WhiteHouse.Gov petition site, and therefore here as well. Authors must prove the viability of their petitions by soliciting this initial support on their own. And thus far, the vast majority have failed to make it.
2. 25,000 - to generate official Obama Administration responses. This second threshold of 25,000 was raised from its original 5,000 on October 3, 2011.

(1,156) shut down ALL nuclear reactors 1 at a time, safety as the reason. Must be made to withstand Earthquakes / Tsunamis.
(1,206) remove the statue related to the comfort women issue and not support any international harassment of the people of Japan
(1,822) Exclude hot dogs and other obesity- and cancer-causing foods from photo ops that feature the president.

This makes it impossible to quickly determine how much time petitions have left to acquire 25,000 signatures. And because the promise to answer those that reach that threshold is the major attraction of this site, that's one of the first things we need to know.
Many of us lead busy lives and don't have time to consider petitions (no matter how appealing) that appear destined to have their text and signatures erased. That's what happens to those that don't reach 25,000 in 30 days, after all, such as this one that ended up 23,000 short:
