Support Our Veterans

Target: All small and large businesses/corporations
Region: Canada
Background (Preamble):
I use to be an employed, up until Nov 18 of this year. I am writing this to make a story known, i want everyone to know that i don't only speak for myself i speak for the veteran's of our country, the people of my community and the soldiers who stay strong everyday for us.
On remembrance day i went to work and was told by my store manager that i was not allowed to wear my poppy, and that this was not her rule it was the general manager's rule. I then removed my poppy but a small poppy pin remained on my shirt. I went home that day disgusted with the dishonor this rule brought to our country. My mom is currently in Afghanistan working as a civilian, and supporting the troops over there, she is also ex-military and has done many tours, my dad is ex-military as well and has done tours.
I wrote a letter to the editor of our local paper the Bugle-Observer, in this letter i did not mention where i worked in anyway the only thing was it had my name on it. Tuesday(the 18) a fellow employee brought the paper into our store late in the afternoon, my store manager read it and i was fired without reasoning 20mins later. They told me that they didn't have to give me a reason because i was legally still in my 6 months probationary period, when i was hired i was under the impression the the probationary period consisted of 3 months.
Head office was unable to get a reason for my termination out of the store I was employed at. I don't want anyone else to fall victim to this kind of disrespect and i am asking everybody reading this to spread the word, gather people and leave your signatures, these men did what it took to give us freedom and i think we owe them to do the same to gain respect for them. The more signatures I get the more that can be done. This is not a direct attack on employer/company but it's just where I happened to be employed.

Petition:
We, the undersigned, are asking the Canadian government to make it illegal for any employer/manager to tell you to remove a poppy from your shirt on Remembrance Day.
This would not apply to people who can not wear a poppy because it poses a conflict or danger directly to the task they are performing and example of someone who would fall under that is a welder or people in the same general situation.
