Target: 20000
Region: Australia

Petition Background (Preamble):
South Australia continue to introduce tough new draconian laws for provisional drivers, which are not in line with other states and other cities worldwide. The reason given for the introduction of these laws is to reduce the representation of young fatalities on our roads.
South Australia only allows 3 demerit points before disqualifying young provisional drivers which is not consistent with other states. Under the Rann government the representation of young fatalities on our roads has increased.

Petition:
The petition seeks to revise the Provisional driving rules which currently disqualifies around 20,000 provisional drivers per year, or around 30%.
This removes young drivers from the driving experience and road exposure which is critical to their driving skills and has a detrimental effect.
