Restoration of services to the University Hospital of Hartlepool

This petition was published by Shane Robert Moore on Jun 24, 2010

We, the undersigned call upon the UK Government to implement the recommendations made by Professor Darzi for the University Hospital of Hartlepool and the University Hospital of North Tees in full.

This would see University Hospital of Hartlepool become a Centre of Excellence in Women's and Children's Services, including consultant-led maternity, planned gynaecology, breast surgery, emergency paediatric medical treatment and planned children's operations.

The University Hospital of North Tees would then become the main centre north of the Tees for emergency surgery with expanded intensive care facilities and the development of a North Tees Complex Surgical Centre.

This proposal will provide both hospitals with a financially viable future whilst increasing efficiency within the North Tees & Hartlepool NHS Trust.
