Background (Preamble):
The citizens of Australia should be given the chance to voice whether they want Australia to become a republic, with an Australian head of state, without being asked to also make a decision, initially, as just what form that republic might take.
This petition aims to persuade Federal lawmakers to give Australians the opportunity to have their voice heard on this important issue. Something Australians have never had the opportunity to do so before.

We, the undersigned, call on the Australian Government to initiate a plebiscite of all Australian citizens on whether they wish Australia to become a republic country with an Australian head of state.
