PHS Varsity Soccer Players for Democratically Choosing Their Own Student-Leaders

Background (Preamble):
In the past, undue influence and duress has been exerted upon the Coach(es) of PHS Soccer in naming certain players as "Captains" to the PHS Soccer Team at the deprivation of more worthy student-athletes and to the detriment of the team.
This environment whereby cronyism and political patronage is promoted and where an autocratic method of naming "Captains" has, in the past, led to the collapse of team morale and reflects poorly not only upon the soccer coaches and team but rather, by a proxy representation, reflects poorly upon the athletic department and the school.
To remedy this problem and for the assistance to, insulation of, and benefit of the coaching staff; for the morale of the team; for the prestigious reputation of our beloved school the players, the team, the athletic department and the school:
We honor our American heritage and ideals of democracy by petitioning the following:

Petition:
We, the undersigned, call upon Mr. Donald Fosselman to allow for the PHS Varsity Soccer Team to name whom they wish to lead them by means of the following conditions and process:
1) That three "Captains" be elected by voting members. These three Captains shall be determined by the three players whom garnish the most votes.
2) That said election be held no later than the Thirtieth day of June of the year Two Thousand Nine.
3) That said election will be held at a regularly scheduled practice, of which, notice shall be given to a majority of incoming Junior and Senior Soccer Players no less than THREE DAYS prior to said election.
4) That voting members shall consist solely of incoming Junior and Senior PHS Soccer Players; of which, said players shall have earned a varsity "Letter" in PHS Soccer prior to said election.
5) That said election shall be operated by the "One man, one ballot" principles.
6) That no less than THREE players from previous PHS Soccer Teams shall preside as officials of said election. Furthermore, there shall be no one present during the election other than the voting members and election officials.
