Background (Preamble):
Currently there is no public bus that stops for residents here. Although one IndyGo bus passes through en route to the Financial Center at Fort Harrison, its drivers are not allowed to pick up or drop off passengers in the City of Lawrence.
Petition:
Because public transportation would:
·promote the economic and cultural growth of the city,
·provide its citizens an equal opportunity to be self-reliant,
·alleviate traffic problems and improve our air quality;
We the undersigned urge the Lawrence City Council to vote in favor of a contract with IndyGo to provide complete bus service in Lawrence.
