Description/History:
In the last week there have been three muggings on the alley way running parallel to Maindy Road up to the gate of Cambrian Point, leading out onto North Road. Two of these have involved personal violence.

The alley-way in question at night is virtually pitch black and it is hard to see where you are going, let alone see if there are people around.

The residents of Maindy road have also suffered from a spate of burglaries.
Petition:
We, the undersigned, request that the council install lighting on the alley-way running parallel to Maindy Road up to the gate of Cambrian Point leading out onto North Road.

To reduce any nuisance that lighting may cause on residents, we ask the council to consider down-lighting the alleyway. This is a small price to pay to protect the interests of 635 students who live in the hallls and many residents of Maindy Road. Use of the aforementioned alley way is also not limited to these two groups as the alley provides a well-used shortcut between the Cathays area and Maindy.
