Description/History:
Transport for All demonstrated at Guy's and St Thomas's hospital in London on June 25th.
We are protesting against their unfair Patient Transport Scheme.
We are being asked to sacrifice our precious Taxicard trips on hospital visits, or become fully dependent on friends or relatives who drive.
This has a direct impact on our lives, as we need our limited number of trips to shop and have a social life.
We are protesting against their unfair Patient Transport Scheme.
We are being asked to sacrifice our precious Taxicard trips on hospital visits, or become fully dependent on friends or relatives who drive.
This has a direct impact on our lives, as we need our limited number of trips to shop and have a social life.
Petition:
We, the undersigned, agree with Transport for All that Guy and St Thomas' Hospital NHS Trust is wrong to operate its current patient transport policy in respect of disabled and mobility-impaired people.
We call upon the Chair and Chief Executive of the Trust to:
RESPECT disabled and elderly patients and our circumstances;
JUDGE our needs on medical grounds only;
ACCEPT that you can be too ill to drive safely;
DISREGARD any financial or other assistance we get because of our disabilities to enable us to lead a normal life;
DON'T FORCE us to use our Taxicards to get to hospital;
DON'T MAKE US PAY for taxis and minicabs out of disability benefits and pensions;
PUBLICISE the appeal system;
SET UP A USER GROUP and listen to it!!
