Hibernian fc have told derek riordan that he can run out his current contract which ends october 2006.
He will be allowed to talk to other clubs from may 2006 and may walk away from his boyhood heroes for nothing.
This can't be good for either side.
To replace a striker of derek's calibre would cost in excess of £1.6 million.

We, the undersigned, believe that common sense must prevail and that Hibernian FC must enter into dialogue with derek riordan to ensure he is a hibs player season 2006/7.
