it is years old
Background (Preamble):
Sign the petition and pass on the link to have others sign the petition to get the retirements of elected officials (congress, senators) changed so that they will be treated without preference compared to the rest of US citizens.

This issue should be placed on the ballot in the 2008 election to have their retirements treated Just like the rest of citizens of the United States.

Elected officials should only get a retirement if they are elected for 3 terms of office or at least 10 years to recieve a partial retirement, at least 20 years to recieve a full retirement and their spouses will not recieve any retirement unless it is a portion of the person who served or unless their spouse expired and then they can recieve a retirement, but not a full amount but a scaled down version.
Petition:
We, the undersigned, petition to change the retirement rules for US govt. elected officials so they are fairer. Government officials should not be treated differently than normal US citizens.
