Please fill in the new petition at

Background (Preamble):
Point Cook is a rapidly growing suburb in Melbourne. Many new estates are underconstruction and there is a large number of new residents building and moving into the Point Cook area.

There is a small exchange at the corner of Point Cook Rd and Sneydes Road. It is current full and no new equipment can be added. Rather than upgrading the exchange, Telstra have chosen to install small RIM devices into the suburbs that provide basic phone connectivity.

These RIMs restrict the number of ADSL connections. Less than half of the houses connected with RIMs can get ADSL and then only ADSL1.
Petition:
Dear Julia Gillard

As a resident of Point Cook I would like to draw your attention to the current state of internet infrastructure in my suburb. Much of the suburb has been connected to the local phone exchange via a system called a RIM. This method of connection means that houses are able to get basic phone lines but most are subsequently unable to get broadband. Those lucky few that are able to get broadband can only get the basic ADSL 1.

Point Cook is a rapidly growing suburb and Telstra has failed to provide adequate infrastructure.

We call on you to please take action to help your constituents get a level of infrastructure that is currently provided to suburbs throughout Melbourne.

Sincerely,
