The media plays a detrimental role in the exacerbation of eating disorders. Magazines, newspaper, television, and the internet all promote unrealistic body images as the key to happiness and success.
Other causes of eating disorders include individual problems, family dynamic problems, low self esteem, perfectionism, peer pressure, impulse control issues, heredity, and cultural influences, but the media plays a big role as well.

We, the undersigned, call on the ANA to eliminate the use of unrealistic enhanced body advertisements in media.
