Target: Government of Egypt; Government of the French Republic;UN
Region: GLOBAL
Background (Preamble):
Niqab is that face veil donned by some devout Muslim women in a way to manifest their belief. This has now been hampered by way of bans on niqab by primarily the Government of Egypt and Government of France which is clearly a manifest transgression of the basic human rights and injustice. This is so because it compromises the implications of Article 18 in UN's Universal Declaration of Human Rights that states as follows: " Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion; this right includes freedom to change his religion or belief, and freedom, either alone or in community with others and in public or private, to manifest his religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship and observance."
This is a saddening event that questions the agenda of the involved parties and the substance of their democracy.

Petition:
We, the undersigned, call on the above mentioned Governments to drop the niqab ban and allow equal opportunity of justice for all and the right of all citizens of the world to practice as they desire as stipulated in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. We also call on the UN to stop this transgression against human rights and manifest oppression.
The transgression and injustice that the niqab ban entails is tantamount to religious profiling and encroaching of basic human rights by the State in a dictatorial style wherein lifestyle and beliefs are governed and limited by the subjective logic of leaders.
This is no different than the oppressive actions of people that force women to wear it,because in either case it is essentially about what a woman chooses as her lifestyle and when bans like this are put into action it only acts to oppress and segregate women who are not willing to compromise on a question of principle.
Martin Luther King Jr.,the prominent activist who fought injustice in America said : " Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly."
