Petra Majdic and Joannie Rochette for Arthur Ashe Courage Award

WHEREAS, Petra Majdic and Joannie Rochette have shown extraordinary courage during the recent Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, BC; and

WHEREAS, Petra Majdic won a bronze medal in cross-country skiing for Slovenia despite a crash that left her with a collapsed lung and five broken ribs; and

WHEREAS, Joannie Rochette won a bronze medal for Canada in the ladies' figure skating competition just days after the loss of her mother; and

WHEREAS, these two outstanding and courageous young women are truly deserving of this honor;
