Background (Preamble):
We believe that the decision by Her Majesty's Revenue & Customs (HMRC) Executive Committee EXCOM to slash the jobs carried out by its former Estates & Support Services directorate will have catastrophic implications for HMRC staff and the public. We believe the job cuts will:
*put the health & safety of all HMRC staff at major risk;
*put the nation’s data security at major risk;
*bring about additional cost to the taxpayer because all grades from Senior management downwards will carry out jobs currently undertaken by AA grades;
*make hundreds pre-surplus with little chance to find alternative employment within HMRC;
*force staff in other businesses to take on additional work with no extra pay when national levels of stress are at an all time high.

Petition:
We, the undersigned, call upon HMRC’s Executive Committee to bring an immediate halt to its plans to cut the vital jobs in Estates & Support Services (ESS).
Furthermore we wish to record our thanks to the hard-working ESS staff who, despite being some of the lowest paid workers, are the back-bone of HMRC.
